Background: Interventions are needed to decrease measles and rubella (MR) vaccine hesitancy/refusal among Jordanian parents during the implementation campaign in Jordan by 2023. This study developed an educational video for parents with hesitancy or refusal to enhance their attitudes and decisions toward the MR vaccine. Objective: This study aimed to assess the impact of video‐based educational intervention on the attitudes of parents toward the MR vaccine and the decision to accept the MR vaccine. Method: One group pretest–posttest experimental design was used. A 5‐min MR vaccine education video was shown to parents. Parents' decisions on the MR vaccine and the parent attitudes about childhood vaccines (PACV) scale were collected before, immediately, and 2 weeks after the video, the differences in the scores were also measured. Results: The initial PACV scale score averaged 24 ± 1.5. After watching the MR education video, the PACV scores immediately and after 2 weeks were 21 ± 1.6 and 21.8 ± 1.4, respectively, with a statistically significant difference (p value < 0.05). The parents' likelihood of refusing the MR vaccine decreased immediately and 2 weeks after watching the video (68% and 70.5%; respectively), and this decrease was sustained after 2 weeks (p value = 0.617). Conclusion: An educational video intervention was associated with improved PACV and improved parents' attitudes toward the MR vaccine, potentially altering the decisions of hesitant or refusing parents to accept the vaccine during the 2023 MR vaccine campaign in Jordan. Introduction: In the last decade, disasters increased by 60% worldwide. These occurrences have resulted in approximately two million deaths and 4.2 million injuries and left 33 million people homeless. Nurses are part of the front-line response team and should be critical during disasters. For nurses to respond competently, they must have the knowledge and skills to provide comprehensive and holistic care to the populations affected by disasters. Objectives: This study aims to assess the level of competencies among nurses providing disaster care and identify their predictors. Method: A descriptive correlation design was utilized to measure and predict nursing competencies in providing care to individuals amid disasters. An electronic form of disaster response competencies assessment survey was distributed to 400 nurses working at three public hospitals in the central region of Jordan. Results: Jordanian nurses reported a moderate level of competencies in providing care for individuals. Furthermore, multiple regression analysis revealed that disaster training, disaster education, sex, and real disaster experience significantly predict nurses' competencies. Conclusion: With the increasing frequency of disasters, nurses should be adequately prepared to respond to disasters competently to relieve the negative consequences of these events on the affected individuals. Purpose: This study aims to explore the effects of cat-assisted therapy (Ca-AT) on a patient in their homes, specifically investigating the effects on patient's memory, behavioral pathology and ability to perform activities of daily living, independently. Design/methodology/approach: A case study design was used in patient's homes using three measuring scales, namely, Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE), Barthel index (BI) and Behavioral Pathology in Alzheimer's Disease (AD) Rating Scale. Findings: The MMSE and BI mean scores were increased, whereas the Behavioral Pathology mean score was decreased. Patient negative behaviors were improved specifically, aggressiveness, anxieties, phobias, and caregiver burden was decreased. Practical implications: Patients with AD could significantly benefit from Ca-AT in their own homes, and it could decrease caregiving burden. Originality/value: Ca-AT is a newly developed type of animal-assisted therapy that uses cats to treat patients, especially elderly people with AD, in their homes. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: Major depressive disorder is an escalating problem in both developed and under developed countries. Similar to the adolescents, depressive symptoms have been diagnosed at an extensive level among school going children. The study is based around investigating the increasing factors of depression among school going children of Jordan. Methods: A sample of 1650 school going students from Amman has been considered, which was assessed on behalf of two instruments. The age group of 10-15 years was identified for recruiting students from five government and five private schools. The collected data was analyzed through SPSS version 20. Results: Findings of the study reflected that depression in childhood is strongly associated with ecological factors and psychiatric co-morbidities. Furthermore, the results revealed that age, gender, living arrangements, and domestic violence are also associated with childhood depression. The results further identified that the prevalence rate of depression is higher in girls as compared to the boys. Conclusion: Depression can become more severe, if it is not managed at the early stage. Similarly, depression in childhood is likely to continue in adulthood if it is not properly treated at initial stages.
