Abstract

Hypersensitivity or allergy encompasses a wide range of immunological reactions that generally have adverse consequences involving one or many organ systems of the body. Allergens are usually glycoprotein or chemically complex low molecular weight substances. The common allergens include pollen, fungal spores, house dust mite and house dust, animal danders, drugs, foods, insect emanations, and detritus, etc. Information on the role of insects in respiratory allergy is increasing in the literature. There are about 30 million living species of insects. These insects can broadly be classified as stinging insects, biting insects and non-stinging and non-biting insects. All materials form insets namely wings, scales, saliva; dried feces and venom can cause allergic diseases, such as rhinitis, conjunctivitis, asthma and urticaria. There are wide varieties of insects such as moths, butterflies, bees, wasps, hornets, yellow jackets, flies, beetles, cockroaches, and mosquitoes. Exposure to emanations and detritus of these insects may lead to several allergies in some genetically predisposed individuals. Therefore, it is of interest to review allergies caused by various insect's stings and bites and their adverse effect on the human body.

Abstract

Eucalyptus globulus is an aromatic medicinal plant which known for its 1,8-cineole main pharmacological constituent exhibits as natural analgesic agent. Eucalyptus globulus-loaded micellar nanoparticle was developed via spontaneous emulsification technique and further evaluation for its analgesic efficacy study, in vivo analgesic activity assay in rats. The nanoemulsion system containing Eucalyptus-micelles was optimized at different surfactant types (Tween 40, 60 and 80) and concentrations (3.0, 6.0, 9.0, 12.0, 15.0, and 18.0 wt. %). These formulations were characterized by thermodynamically stability, viscosity, micelles particle size, pH, and morphology structure. The spontaneous emulsification technique offered a greener micelles formation in nanoemulsion system by slowly titrated of organic phase, containing Eucalyptus globulus (active compound), grape seed oil (carrier oil) and hydrophilic surfactant into aqueous phase, and continuously stirred for 30 min to form a homogeneity solution. The characterizations evaluation revealed an optimized formulation with Tween 40 surfactant type at 9.0 wt. % of surfactant concentration promoted the most thermodynamic stability, smaller micelles particle size (d = 17.13 ± 0.035 nm) formed with spherical shape morphological structure, and suitable in viscosity (≈2.3 cP) and pH value (6.57) for transdermal purpose. The in vivo analgesic activity assay of optimized emulsion showed that the transdermal administration of micellar nanoparticle of Eucalyptus globulus on fore and hind limb of rats, possessed the central and peripheral analgesic effects by prolonged the rats pain responses towards the heat stimulus after being put on top of hot plate (55 °C), with longest time responses, 40.75 s at 60 min after treatment administration. Abstract

Recent studies suggest that Olives bioactive compounds are very important and mainly associated with cancer fight. They can suppress tumor growth through the direct interaction with several important proteins which are directly associated with tumor associated pathways such as P53, P16, P21, BCL2, BAX, MDM2, MMP2 and MMP9 proteins. The main aim of the present work is to perform a docking analysis of the Olives bioactive compounds with tumor-associated proteins. To do that, we first retrieved all the known structures of Olive bioactive compounds using different available online databases. Next, we analyzed these structures using Molegro Virtual Docker (MVD-2010, 4.2.0) software. Further, we narrowed four important compounds (namely, Deacetoxyoleuropein aglycone, Hydroxytyrosol, Tyrosol and Erlotinib) of Olive bioactive compounds that showed very distinguished properties. The ADME properties of these four compounds were predicted based on Lipinski's rule of five. The active sites of the very widely known tumor-associated proteins (P53, P16, P21, BCL2, BAX, MDM2, MMP2 and MMP9) were explored using MVD software. Finally, the active sites of these proteins were docked with the above mentioned four compounds. Based on the docking study, it was concluded that Deacetoxyoleuropein Anglican showed strong inhibition with EGFR, VEGFR1 and VEGFR2. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Background: Obesity is becoming major problems in developed as well as developing countries. Obesity is the major cause of a large number of debilitating and life-threatening diseases such as cardiovascular, metabolic and other non-communicable diseases. The Objectives of this study is to estimate the prevalence of obesity among medical students and the role of food intake among medical students. Methods: A descriptive crosssectional design was used. 150 Saudi medical students studying at Colleges of Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing, and applied medical science in Hail university were invited. Results: The mean age of the study population was 33.5 ± 18.7 years with 33.6 ± 19.2 for males and 32.3 ± 16.9 for females. Males to female's ratio was 1.00:1.01. The overall prevalence of obesity was 64.7%. Conclusions: The study showed that the prevalence of obesity among the medical students of Hail University is high, which is comparable to the other studies. This indicates the need to encourage a healthy lifestyle, healthy food habits, and a physically active daily routine, among medical students. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
