Despite the strict rejection of casteism by the Sikh faith, caste-based hierarchies are still a prevalent factor amongst Sikh diasporas within the UK. On the basis of ethnographic fieldwork amongst women whose caste is considered to occupy a lower status, this paper examines their experiences and explores how, over time, this has contributed to the construction of their identity. This article situates the women within a nexus of complex social and cultural factors, illuminating the representations of caste, gender and intergenerational change within Nottingham. An intersectional standpoint provided an analytical value in accentuating the sites where gender, caste and the mediation of honour intersected. The research shows a heterogeneity in the self-positioning of women vis-à-vis caste identity and shows a marked difference in attitudes between generations, denoting a depreciation in the significance of caste. Ultimately, while the respondents were conscious of their caste and of the historical prejudice against their caste, it is significant that they did not live their lives through it, as they internalised Sikhi as their core identity. Introduction: Early studies exploring the physiological effects of space travel have indicated the body's capacity for reversible adaptation. However, the impact of long‐duration spaceflight, exceeding 6 months, presents more intricate challenges. Effects on the Cardiovascular (CV) System: Extended exposure to microgravity and radiation profoundly affects the CV system. Notable phenomena include fluid shifts toward the head and modified arterial pressure. These changes disrupt blood pressure regulation and elevate cardiac output. Additionally, the loss of venous compression leads to a reduction in central venous pressure. Fluid and Plasma Volume Changes: The displacement of fluid from the vascular system to the interstitium, driven by baroreceptor stimulation, results in a 10%–15% decline in plasma volume. Cardiac Muscle and Hematocrit Variations: Intriguingly, despite potential increases in cardiac workload, cardiac muscle atrophy and perplexing variations in hematocrit levels have been observed. The mechanism underlying atrophy appears to involve a shift in protein synthesis from the endoplasmic reticulum to the mitochondria via mortalin‐mediated mechanisms. Arrhythmias and QT Interval Prolongation: Instances of arrhythmias have been recurrently documented, although generally nonlethal, in both Russian and American space missions. Long‐duration spaceflight has been associated with the prolongation of the QT interval, particularly in extended missions. Radiation Effects: Exposure of the heart to the proton and heavy ion radiation pervasive in deep space contributes to coronary artery degeneration, augmented aortic stiffness, and carotid intima thickening through collagen‐mediated processes. Moreover, it accelerates the onset of atherosclerosis and triggers proinflammatory responses. Reentry and Postflight Challenges: Upon reentry, astronauts frequently experience orthostatic intolerance and altered sympathetic responses, which bear potential hazards in scenarios requiring rapid mobilization or evacuation. Conclusion: Consequently, careful monitoring of these cardiac risks is imperative for forthcoming missions. While early studies illuminate the adaptability of the body to space travel's challenges, the intricacies of long‐duration missions and their effects on the CV system necessitate continued investigation and vigilance to ensure astronaut health and mission success. This comprehensive article delves into the intricate and multifaceted issue of noise pollution, shedding light on its diverse sources, profound health implications, and the economic burden it imposes on societies. Noise pollution is an increasingly prevalent environmental challenge, impacting millions of people worldwide, often without their full awareness of its adverse effects. Drawing from a wealth of scientific research, the article underscores the well‐established links between noise pollution and a spectrum of health issues, including cardiovascular diseases, sleep disturbances, and psychological stress. While exploring the sources and consequences of noise pollution, the article highlights the urgent need for a holistic and collaborative approach to mitigate its impact. This entails a combination of regulatory measures, technological innovations, urban planning strategies, and public education campaigns. It is increasingly evident that the detrimental effects of noise pollution extend beyond physical health, encompassing mental and social well‐being. The article also addresses the synergistic relationship between noise pollution and other environmental stressors, emphasizing the importance of considering noise in conjunction with factors like air pollution and access to green spaces. BACKGROUND: Sharing of knowledge and positive workplace behavior by employees are perquisites for the success of every organization. The present study realized the significance of knowledge sharing and positive behavior in a country like India where high-power distance culture is prevalent. OBJECTIVE: The present research aimed to investigate the influence of abusive supervision on knowledge hiding and employee organizational deviance. In addition mediating roles negative affectivity and employee silence were alsotested. METHODS: Data was gathered from 420 employees working in a service organization in India. SPSS vs. 23 and Amos vs. 24 were used for data analysis purposes. The techniques of SEM were applied to test the proposed hypotheses in the present research. RESULTS: The study found the positive and significant influence of abusive supervision on knowledge hiding, but the insignificant influence of abusive supervision on employee organizational deviance. The results also reflected the full mediating role of negative affectivity but the partial intervening or mediating role of employee silence between the relationships of abusive supervision with knowledge hiding and employees' organizational deviance. Non-tuberculous Mycobacteria (NTM), previously classified as environmental microbes, have emerged as opportunistic pathogens causing pulmonary infections in immunocompromised hosts. The formation of the biofilm empowers NTM pathogens to escape from the immune response and antibiotic action, leading to treatment failures. NF1001 is a novel thiopeptide antibiotic first-in-class compound with potent activity against planktonic/replicating and biofilm forms of various NTM species. It is potent against both drug-sensitive and -resistant NTM. It has demonstrated a concentration-dependent killing of replicating and intracellularly growing NTM, and has inhibited and reduced the viability of NTM in biofilms. Combination studies using standard-of-care (SoC) drugs for NTM exhibited synergetic/additive effects, but no antagonism against both planktonic and biofilm populations of Mycobacterium abscessus and Mycobacterium avium. In summary, the activity of NF1001 alone or in combination with SoC drugs projects NF1001 as a promising candidate for the treatment of difficult-to-treat NTM pulmonary diseases (NTM-PD) and cystic fibrosis (CF) in patients. This research uses machine learning, in particular convolutional neural networks (CNNs), to completely transform crop disease detection for agriculture. Early disease recognition. The developed CNN model scores highly with an accuracy of 92.5%. The model's effectiveness is also confirmed by a further precision, recall, and F1 score of 91.2%, 93.8%, and 92.4% respectively at the same go/no-go point (TPFPU = 0). With an impressive area under the precision-recall curve of 0.94, the model's ability to strike a balance between precision and recall becomes abundantly clear for more delicate decision-making. The superiority of our CNN model is clearly demonstrated by a comparative analysis of baseline models, including simplified versions of the original CNN architecture and support vector machines. When it automatically derives hierarchical features from pixel data, its ability to accurately discriminate between healthy and diseased crops is a big advantage. Deployment in real time makes the system more accessible so that farmers need only open Jupyter Notebooks and can very easily upload images for immediate detection of disease. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
