Introduction: As a new emerging nanotechnology approach, copper nanoparticles (CuNPs) coated on traditional silk suture were used. Its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, led to its increasing medical applications. Commercially available as wound dressings, surgical instruments and bone prostheses. Objectives: To compare physical parameters of nano-copper and silk suture. Methodology: Copper nanoparticles and deionized water were adopted for the preparation of the copper solution. The copper solution was obtained by dissolving 0.5 wt/v % of copper nanoparticles in a mixture of 5 v/v % of deionized water. The silk suture were dipped in the copper solution for 24 hr and then exposed to UV lamp in order to induce the synthesis of copper clusters on the surface of the suture. Inverted electron microscopy was performed in order to analyse the braided structure of the multifilament silk sutures and to verify the presence of copper on the surface. A quantitative spectrophotometry analysis was performed to quantify the percentage of copper deposited. Tensile strength was measured by Universal Testing Machine. Results: Nano-copper suture showed enhanced physical parameters as compared to silk suture. Conclusion: Copper nanoparticles due to their beneficial effects as antibacterial and wound healing accelerator in the periodontal surgeries could reduce inflammation and promote healing process. Aim and Objective: The aim and objective of the study are to ascertain the use of titanium platelet-rich fibrin (T-PRF) to enhance the treatment outcome of intrabony defect in the chronic periodontitis patients. Methodology: Data resources: Four databases MEDLINE (by PubMed), Cochrane database, EBSCO, and Google Scholar were explored to identify the studies in English from 2015 up to March 2021. An additional hand search of relevant journals was also done. All the reviewers screened the retrieved articles using the particular inclusion criteria. Randomized control trials evaluating the use of T-PRF to enhance the treatment outcome of intrabony defect in chronic periodontitis patients were included in the study. Outcome variables examined were probing pocket depth (PPD) reduction, relative attachment level (RAL) gain, change in gingival index (GI) and plaque index (PI), radiographic depth reduction. Statistical Analysis: Data were analyzed using Revman 5.3 software. The mean differences and 95% confidence interval were used to illustrate the estimate of effect size. Study Selection: five relevant articles were recognized for data procurement. A total of 138 patients had been appraised with confirmation of intrabony defects. In the included studies, age span of participants was between 20 and 59 years. Results: It displayed that the use of T-PRF induced a reduction in PPD, gain in RAL along with open flap debridement (OFD) in the management of intrabony defects. The use of T-PRF along with OFD and OFD only has equal effect on GI and PI. Introduction: Human placental extract gel contains extract of human placenta and total nitrogen not more than 0.25% w/w. It is natural vitamins, peptides, nucleotides and amino acid gel. It enhances wound healing significantly; increases collagen synthesis and improves tensile strength of healing tissue. It brings about maximum increases in the percent of DNA, total protein and epithelialisation. It also has anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects. Aim and Objective: Clinical and histological evaluation of depigmented gingival epithelium on application of human placental extract gel. Material and Method: 10 healthy patients in the age group of 18-35 yrs. who were indicated for depigmentation procedure were selected for the study. Depigmentation was done with scalpel technique on maxillary and mandibular anterior region. In group A human placental extract gel was applied on the wound and non-eugenol pack was placed whereas group B was covered with non-eugenol pack only. Wound Healing index and Visual Analogue Score was assessed after 7 and 15 days. Epithelisation of wound was assessed by using toluidine blue after 7 days of surgery. Result: Application of human placental extract gel showed a statistically significant improvement clinically and histologically. Conclusion: Application of human placental extract can be a successful approach to protect the raw wound area of depigmented gingiva with better patient comfort and faster healing.
