Abstract: Muon neutrino and antineutrino disappearance probabilities are identical in the standard three-flavor neutrino oscillation framework, but CPT violation and non-standard interactions can violate this symmetry. In this work we report the measurements of $\sin^{2} \theta_{23}$ and $\Delta m_{32}^2$ independently for neutrinos and antineutrinos. The aforementioned symmetry violation would manifest as an inconsistency in the neutrino and antineutrino oscillation parameters. The analysis discussed here uses a total of 1.97$\times$10$^{21}$ and 1.63$\times$10$^{21}$ protons on target taken with a neutrino and antineutrino beam respectively, and benefits from improved flux and cross-section models, new near detector samples and more than double the data reducing the overall uncertainty of the result. No significant deviation is observed, consistent with the standard neutrino oscillation picture.

Abstract: The T2K experiment presents new measurements of neutrino oscillation parameters using $19.7(16.3)\times10^{20}$ protons on target (POT) in (anti-)neutrino mode at the far detector (FD). Compared to the previous analysis, an additional $4.7\times10^{20}$ POT neutrino data was collected at the FD. Significant improvements were made to the analysis methodology, with the near-detector analysis introducing new selections and using more than double the data. Additionally, this is the first T2K oscillation analysis to use NA61/SHINE data on a replica of the T2K target to tune the neutrino flux model, and the neutrino interaction model was improved to include new nuclear effects and calculations. Frequentist and Bayesian analyses are presented, including results on $\sin^2\theta_{13}$ and the impact of priors on the $\delta_\mathrm{CP}$ measurement. Both analyses prefer the normal mass ordering and upper octant of $\sin^2\theta_{23}$ with a nearly maximally CP-violating phase. Assuming the normal ordering and using the constraint on $\sin^2\theta_{13}$ from reactors, $\sin^2\theta_{23}=0.561^{+0.021}_{-0.032}$ using Feldman--Cousins corrected intervals, and $\Delta{}m^2_{32}=2.494_{-0.058}^{+0.041}\times10^{-3}~\mathrm{eV^2}$ using constant $\Delta\chi^{2}$ intervals. The CP-violating phase is constrained to $\delta_\mathrm{CP}=-1.97_{-0.70}^{+0.97}$ using Feldman--Cousins corrected intervals, and $\delta_\mathrm{CP}=0,\pi$ is excluded at more than 90% confidence level. A Jarlskog invariant of zero is excluded at more than $2\sigma$ credible level using a flat prior in $\delta_\mathrm{CP}$, and just below $2\sigma$ using a flat prior in $\sin\delta_\mathrm{CP}$. When the external constraint on $\sin^2\theta_{13}$ is removed, $\sin^2\theta_{13}=28.0^{+2.8}_{-6.5}\times10^{-3}$, in agreement with measurements from reactor experiments. These results are consistent with previous T2K analyses.

Abstract: The T2K experiment widely uses plastic scintillator as a target for neutrino interactions and an active medium for the measurement of charged particles produced in neutrino interactions at its near detector complex. Over 10 years of operation the measured light yield recorded by the scintillator based subsystems has been observed to degrade by 0.9--2.2\% per year. Extrapolation of the degradation rate through to 2040 indicates the recorded light yield should remain above the lower threshold used by the current reconstruction algorithms for all subsystems. This will allow the near detectors to continue contributing to important physics measurements during the T2K-II and Hyper-Kamiokande eras. Additionally, work to disentangle the degradation of the plastic scintillator and wavelength shifting fibres shows that the reduction in light yield can be attributed to the ageing of the plastic scintillator., Comment: 29 pages, 18 figures. Abstract: This paper reports the first T2K measurement of the transverse kinematic imbalance in the single-$\pi^+$ production channel of neutrino interactions. We measure the differential cross sections in the muon-neutrino charged-current interaction on hydrocarbon with a single $\pi^+$ and at least one proton in the final state, at the ND280 off-axis near detector of the T2K experiment. The extracted cross sections are compared to the predictions from different neutrino-nucleus interaction event generators. Overall, the results show a preference for models which have a more realistic treatment of nuclear medium effects including the initial nuclear state and final-state interactions.

Abstract: The T2K experiment reports updated measurements of neutrino and antineutrino oscillations using both appearance and disappearance channels. This result comes from an exposure of $14.9~(16.4) \times 10^{20}$ protons on target in neutrino (antineutrino) mode. Significant improvements have been made to the neutrino interaction model and far detector reconstruction. An extensive set of simulated data studies have also been performed to quantify the effect interaction model uncertainties have on the T2K oscillation parameter sensitivity. T2K performs multiple oscillation analyses that present both frequentist and Bayesian intervals for the PMNS parameters. For fits including a constraint on \ssqthonethree from reactor data and assuming normal mass ordering T2K measures $\sin^2\theta_{23} = 0.53^{+0.03}_{-0.04}$ and $\Delta{}m^2_{32} = (2.45 \pm 0.07) \times 10^{-3}$ eV$^{2}$c$^{-4}$. The Bayesian analyses show a weak preference for normal mass ordering (89% posterior probability) and the upper $\sin^2\theta_{23}$ octant (80% posterior probability), with a uniform prior probability assumed in both cases. Abstract: We report measurements by the T2K experiment of the parameters $\theta_{23}$ and $\Delta m^2_{32}$ which govern the disappearance of muon neutrinos and antineutrinos in the three-flavor PMNS neutrino oscillation model at T2K's neutrino energy and propagation distance. Utilizing the ability of the experiment to run with either a mainly neutrino or a mainly antineutrino beam, muon-like events from each beam mode are used to measure these parameters separately for neutrino and antineutrino oscillations. Data taken from $1.49 \times 10^{21}$ protons on target (POT) in neutrino mode and $1.64 \times 10^{21}$ POT in antineutrino mode are used. The best-fit values obtained by T2K were $\sin^2\left(\theta_{23}\right)=0.51^{+0.06}_{-0.07} \left(0.43^{+0.21}_{-0.05}\right)$ and $\Delta m^2_{32}=2.47^{+0.08}_{-0.09} \left(2.50^{+0.18}_{-0.13}\right)$\evmass for neutrinos (antineutrinos). No significant differences between the values of the parameters describing the disappearance of muon neutrinos and antineutrinos were observed. An analysis using an effective two-flavor neutrino oscillation model where the sine of the mixing angle is allowed to take non-physical values larger than 1 is also performed to check the consistency of our data with the three-flavor model. Our data were found to be consistent with a physical value for the mixing angle.

Abstract: We report measurements of the flux-integrated $\bar{\nu}_\mu$ and $\bar{\nu}_\mu+\nu_\mu$ charged-current cross-sections on water and hydrocarbon targets using the T2K anti-neutrino beam, with a mean neutrino energy of 0.86 GeV. The signal is defined as the (anti-)neutrino charged-current interaction with one induced $\mu^\pm$ and no detected charged pion nor proton. These measurements are performed using a new WAGASCI module recently added to the T2K setup in combination with the INGRID Proton module. The phase space of muons is restricted to the high-detection efficiency region, $p_{\mu}>400~{\rm MeV}/c$ and $\theta_{\mu}<30^{\circ}$, in the laboratory frame. Absence of pions and protons in the detectable phase space of "$p_{\pi}>200~{\rm MeV}/c$ and $\theta_{\pi}<70^{\circ}$", and "$p_{\rm p}>600~{\rm MeV}/c$ and $\theta_{\rm p}<70^{\circ}$" is required. In this paper, both of the $\bar{\nu}_\mu$ cross-sections and $\bar{\nu}_\mu+\nu_\mu$ cross-sections on water and hydrocarbon targets, and their ratios are provided by using D'Agostini unfolding method. The results of the integrated $\bar{\nu}_\mu$ cross-section measurements over this phase space are $\sigma_{\rm H_{2}O}\,=\,(1.082\pm0.068(\rm stat.)^{+0.145}_{-0.128}(\rm syst.)) \times 10^{-39}~{\rm cm^{2}/nucleon}$, $\sigma_{\rm CH}\,=\,(1.096\pm0.054(\rm stat.)^{+0.132}_{-0.117}(\rm syst.)) \times 10^{-39}~{\rm cm^{2}/nucleon}$, and $\sigma_{\rm H_{2}O}/\sigma_{\rm CH} = 0.987\pm0.078(\rm stat.)^{+0.093}_{-0.090}(\rm syst.)$. The $\bar{\nu}_\mu+\nu_\mu$ cross-section is $\sigma_{\rm H_{2}O} = (1.155\pm0.064(\rm stat.)^{+0.148}_{-0.129}(\rm syst.)) \times 10^{-39}~{\rm cm^{2}/nucleon}$, $\sigma_{\rm CH}\,=\,(1.159\pm0.049(\rm stat.)^{+0.129}_{-0.115}(\rm syst.)) \times 10^{-39}~{\rm cm^{2}/nucleon}$, and $\sigma_{\rm H_{2}O}/\sigma_{\rm CH}\,=\,0.996\pm0.069(\rm stat.)^{+0.083}_{-0.078}(\rm syst.)$.

Abstract: This paper reports the first simultaneous measurement of the double differential muon neutrino charged-current cross section on oxygen and carbon without pions in the final state as a function of the outgoing muon kinematics, made at the ND280 off-axis near detector of the T2K experiment. The ratio of the oxygen and carbon cross sections is also provided to help validate various models' ability to extrapolate between carbon and oxygen nuclear targets, as is required in T2K oscillation analyses. The data are taken using a neutrino beam with an energy spectrum peaked at 0.6 GeV. The extracted measurement is compared with the prediction from different Monte Carlo neutrino-nucleus interaction event generators, showing particular model separation for very forward-going muons. Overall, of the models tested, the result is best described using Local Fermi Gas descriptions of the nuclear ground state with RPA suppression.

Abstract: The electron (anti-)neutrino component of the T2K neutrino beam constitutes the largest background in the measurement of electron (anti-)neutrino appearance at the far detector. The electron neutrino scattering is measured directly with the T2K off-axis near detector, ND280. The selection of the electron (anti-)neutrino events in the plastic scintillator target from both neutrino and anti-neutrino mode beams is discussed in this paper. The flux integrated single differential charged-current inclusive electron (anti-)neutrino cross-sections, $d\sigma/dp$ and $d\sigma/d\cos(\theta)$, and the total cross-sections in a limited phase-space in momentum and scattering angle ($p > 300$ MeV/c and $\theta \leq 45^{\circ}$) are measured using a binned maximum likelihood fit and compared to the neutrino Monte Carlo generator predictions, resulting in good agreement.

Abstract: For the past decade, observations of carbonyl sulfide (OCS or COS) have been investigated as a proxy for carbon uptake by plants. OCS is destroyed by enzymes that interact with CO2 during photosynthesis, namely carbonic anhydrase (CA) and RuBisCO, where CA is the more important one. The majority of sources of OCS to the atmosphere are geographically separated from this large plant sink, whereas the sources and sinks of CO2 are co-located in ecosystems. The drawdown of OCS can therefore be related to the uptake of CO2 without the added complication of co-located emissions comparable in magnitude. Here we review the state of our understanding of the global OCS cycle and its applications to ecosystem carbon cycle science. OCS uptake is correlated well to plant carbon uptake, especially at the regional scale. OCS can be used in conjunction with other independent measures of ecosystem function, like solar-induced fluorescence and carbon and water isotope studies. More work needs to be done to generate global coverage for OCS observations and to link this powerful atmospheric tracer to systems where fundamental questions concerning the carbon and water cycle remain.

Abstract: We have analysed archival data taken with the Australia Telescope Compact Array (ATCA) during 2001--2003 and detected nine new interstellar and circumstellar water masers in the LMC. This takes the total number of star formation water masers in the LMC to 23, spread over 14 different star forming regions and three evolved stars. Three water maser sources (N105a/MC23, N113/MC24, N157a/MC74) have been detected in all the previous observations that targeted these sites, although all show significant variability on timescales of decades. The total number of independent water maser sources now known in the LMC means that through very long baseline interferometry astrometric measurements it will be possible to construct a more precise model of the galactic rotation of the LMC and its orbital motion around the Milky Way Galaxy., Comment: 5 pages, 2 figures, accepted for publication in MNRAS (Letter)

Abstract: We report the results of the X-ray diffraction study of B2O3 glass in the pressure interval up to 10 GPa in the 300-700 K temperature range, the results of in-situ volumetric measurements of the glass at pressures up to 9 GPa at room temperature, and first-principles simulations data at pressures up to 250GPa. The behavior of B2O3 glass under pressure can be described as two broad pressure-overlapping transitions. The first transition starts at P > 1 GPa and proceeds without any changes in thecoordination number of the boron atoms; the other one starts at P > 5 GPa and is accompanied by a gradual increase of coordination number. The second transition is completely reversible; the residual densification of the B2O3 glass after decompression is associated with the incomplete reversibility of the first transformation. The fraction of boron atoms transferred to the 4-coordination state in the glass at P < 10 GPa is much smaller than was assumed from indirect experimental data [4], but is considerably larger (by tens of times) than was previously suggested by the classical molecular dynamics simulations [5,6]. The observed transformations under both compression and decompression are quite broad, contrary to the assumption in Ref. [7]. On the basis of ab-initio results, we also predict the one more transformation under higher pressures to a super-dense phase, in which B atoms become 5- and 6-fold coordinated.

Abstract: International audience; Muon neutrino and antineutrino disappearance probabilities are identical in the standard three-flavor neutrino oscillation framework, but CPT violation and non-standard interactions can violate this symmetry. In this work we report the measurements of $\sin^{2} \theta_{23}$ and $\Delta m_{32}^2$ independently for neutrinos and antineutrinos. The aforementioned symmetry violation would manifest as an inconsistency in the neutrino and antineutrino oscillation parameters. The analysis discussed here uses a total of 1.97$\times$10$^{21}$ and 1.63$\times$10$^{21}$ protons on target taken with a neutrino and antineutrino beam respectively, and benefits from improved flux and cross-section models, new near detector samples and more than double the data reducing the overall uncertainty of the result. No significant deviation is observed, consistent with the standard neutrino oscillation picture.

Abstract: Since its verification in 2019, there have been numerous high-profile papers reporting improved efficiency of lithium-mediated electrochemical nitrogen reduction to make ammonia. However, the literature lacks any coherent investigation systematically linking bulk electrolyte properties to electrochemical performance and Solid Electrolyte Interphase (SEI) properties. In this study, we discover that the salt concentration has a remarkable effect on electrolyte stability: at concentrations of 0.6 M LiClO4 and above the electrode potential is stable for at least 12 hours at an applied current density of −2 mA cm−2 at ambient temperature and pressure. Conversely, at the lower concentrations explored in prior studies, the potential required to maintain a given N2 reduction current increased by 8 V within a period of 1 hour under the same conditions. The behaviour is linked more coordination of the salt anion and cation with increasing salt concentration in the electrolyte observed via Raman spectroscopy. Time of flight secondary ion mass spectrometry and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy reveal a more inorganic, and therefore more stable, SEI layer is formed with increasing salt concentration. A drop in faradaic efficiency for nitrogen reduction is seen at concentrations higher than 0.6 M LiClO4, which is attributed to a combination of a decrease in nitrogen solubility and diffusivity as well as increased SEI conductivity as measured by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy.

Additionally, increased plasminogen activator inhibitor (PAI)-1 levels are associated with post-allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (aHSCT). However, changes to circulating levels of HMGB1 after aHSCT are poorly understood. Materials and methods: The study cohort included 289 patients who underwent aHSCT at one of 25 institutions in Japan. We have investigated the relationship between HMGB1 and PAI-1 following aHSCT. A significant increase in HMGB1 levels occurred after conditioning treatment. Additionally, levels of HMGB1 at day 0 were significantly increased in TBI+ patients and cyclophosphamide/TBI patients. Conclusion: Our data revealed that an increased level of HMGB1 at day 0 following aHSCT correlates with increased PAI-1 after aHSCT, which is consistent with previous reports. Increased HMGB1 at day 0 after a conditioning regimen may play a role in transplantation-associated coagulopathy following aHSCT, because PAI-1 can accelerate procoagulant activity. Abstract: The T2K experiment widely uses plastic scintillator as a target for neutrino interactions and an active medium for the measurement of charged particles produced in neutrino interactions at its near detector complex. Over 10 years of operation the measured light yield recorded by the scintillator based subsystems has been observed to degrade by 0.9--2.2\% per year. Extrapolation of the degradation rate through to 2040 indicates the recorded light yield should remain above the lower threshold used by the current reconstruction algorithms for all subsystems. This will allow the near detectors to continue contributing to important physics measurements during the T2K-II and Hyper-Kamiokande eras. Additionally, work to disentangle the degradation of the plastic scintillator and wavelength shifting fibres shows that the reduction in light yield can be attributed to the ageing of the plastic scintillator., Comment: 29 pages, 18 figures. Abstract: Direct methanol fuel cells (DMFCs) using alkaline electrolytes are of interest due to the applicability of nonprecious metal-based materials for electrocatalysts. However, the lack of understanding of the methanol oxidation reaction (MOR) mechanism in alkaline media hinders the development of active catalysts for the MOR. In this work, ambient-pressure XPS and in situ surface-enhanced infrared spectroscopy were performed on the Pt surface in order to gain experimental insights into the reaction pathway for the MOR. We present a comprehensive reaction mechanism for the MOR in alkaline media and show that the MOR proceeds via two different pathways depending on the electrode potential. We confirmed the formation of partially hydrogenated CO adsorbates [HxCOad···(OH) (1 < x < 3)] via water and/or hydroxide ion-mediated dissociation of methanol. The HxCOad···(OH) species were further dehydrogenated to COad in the potential range of 0.40-0.60 VRHE and subsequently oxidized to CO2 by reactive OHad on the Pt surface at 0.65 VRHE (pathway I). Furthermore, H3C-Oad intermediates were observed at potentials higher than 0.9 VRHE, at which the MOR proceeds mainly via H3C-Oad instead of COad intermediates (pathway II). The oxidation current related to this conversion from H3C-Oad to CO2 (pathway II) dominates the overall MOR current, suggesting that the H3C-Oad pathway could be one of the keys to enhancing the MOR activity in an alkaline environment. Our findings pave the way toward a design strategy for MOR electrocatalysts with improved activity based on the experimental reaction mechanisms that have been identified.
