Ge30-xSe70Snx (8≤x≤20) glasses have been prepared using conventional melt quenching. The kinetics of the glass transition have been studied in terms of the variation of glass transition temperature with composition and heating rate. In addition the activation energy of the glass transition (Et) and its compositional dependence have been investigated using the Kissinger approach. The thermal stability of these glasses has been investigated using different stability parameters such as the kinetic resistance ΔT (Tc-Tg), the weighted thermal stability parameter H' ((Tc-Tg)/Tg) and S ((Tc-Tg) (Tp-Tc)/Tg) in terms of glass transition temperature (Tg), crystallization onset temperature (Tc) and peak crystallization temperature (Tp). It has been found that the thermal stability decreases with the increasing Sn content in the glassy alloys. A glassy sample is more stable if it has a higher kinetic resistance to crystallization. Accordingly, it has been observed that Ge22Se70Sn8 glassy sample is more thermally stable compared to the other members of the series. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Monodispersed ZnO nanoparticles have been synthesised in ethylene glycol medium using zinc acetate and sodium hydroxide at room temperature through ultrasonic treatment. The monodispersed ZnO nanoparticles were characterized by XRD, TEM, SEM, and optical spectroscopy. The results indicate that ZnO shows the hexagonal wurtzite structure having 8 nm average particle size with the band gap of 3.93 eV. ZnO nanoparticles blended with P3HT show the improvement in the interchains and intrachains ordering as compared to pure P3HT. The power conversion efficiency of P3HT/ZnO solar cell is found to be 0.88%, which is comparable with the result obtained by other researchers.
