Hippocampome.org is a mature open-access knowledge base of the rodent hippocampal formation focusing on neuron types and their properties. Previously, Hippocampome.org v1.0 established a foundational classification system identifying 122 hippocampal neuron types based on their axonal and dendritic morphologies, main neurotransmitter, membrane biophysics, and molecular expression (Wheeler et al., 2015). Releases v1.1 through v1.12 furthered the aggregation of literature-mined data, including among others neuron counts, spiking patterns, synaptic physiology, in vivo firing phases, and connection probabilities. Those additional properties increased the online information content of this public resource over 100-fold, enabling numerous independent discoveries by the scientific community. Hippocampome.org v2.0, introduced here, besides incorporating over 50 new neuron types, now recenters its focus on extending the functionality to build real-scale, biologically detailed, data-driven computational simulations. In all cases, the freely downloadable model parameters are directly linked to the specific peer-reviewed empirical evidence from which they were derived. Possible research applications include quantitative, multiscale analyses of circuit connectivity and spiking neural network simulations of activity dynamics. These advances can help generate precise, experimentally testable hypotheses and shed light on the neural mechanisms underlying associative memory and spatial navigation.

Abstract We have developed a deep-learning-based framework for understanding the individual and mutually combined contributions of different alloying elements and environmental conditions towards the pitting resistance of corrosion-resistant alloys. A fully connected deep neural network (DNN) was trained on previously published datasets on corrosion-relevant electrochemical metrics, to predict the pitting potential of an alloy, given the chemical composition and environmental conditions. Mean absolute error of 170 mV in the predicted pitting potential, with an R-square coefficient of 0.61 was obtained after training. The trained DNN model was used for multi-dimensional gradient descent optimization to search for conditions maximizing the pitting potential. Among environmental variables, chloride-ion concentration was universally found to be detrimental. Increasing the amounts of dissolved nitrogen/carbon was found to have the strongest beneficial influence in many alloys. Supersaturating transition metal high entropy alloys with large amounts of interstitial nitrogen/carbon has emerged as a possible direction for corrosion-resistant alloy design.

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) affects the eye as part of the disease or due to the drugs used in therapy. Ocular involvement is seen in one third of the patients with SLE. SLE is rare in India and found less frequently in males and children. SLE retinopathy is usually bilateral. We report an unusual case of unilateral macular infarction in a boy caused by systemic lupus erythematosus. A fourteen year old boy was presented with skin rashes and loss of vision in left eye. Posterior segment examination showed hyperemic edematous disc, arteriolar attenuation, venous dilatation, multiple cotton wool spots around the disc and macula in the left eye. There was no improvement in vision with pulse steroids and cyclophosphamide. The clinical implication of SLE retinopathy is that the disease is severe and warrants systemic immunosuppressive therapy. SLE-induced macular infarction is rare and has poor visual prognosis. As serious ocular complications of SLE can be silent, routine ophthalmological evaluation is warranted in all patients.

This case report details the management of orbital cavernous hemangioma in a middle-aged female. The treatment involved a medial orbitotomy combined with an innovative application of a cryoprobe. This approach underscores the benefits of open orbitotomy, particularly when combined with cryoextraction. Purpose: To study the clinical spectrum and recovery patterns in patients of acquired isolated ocular motor nerve palsies (OMNPs). Methods: Patients above 5 years of age with various etiologies of OMNPs were included. Demographic and ocular details were recorded, and a squint assessment was performed. Recovery patterns at 3 and 6 months were noted. Results: OMNP was more common in adults, in the order VI > III > IV nerve. Ischemic cause (35%) was followed by idiopathic (26.3%). III nerve palsies were all unilateral, of which all ischemic palsies were pupil-sparing. By 6 months, >50 patients showing complete recovery had ischemic and idiopathic palsies. Smaller baseline deviation correlated with better recovery. Conclusion: Acquired isolated OMNPs are mostly ischemia-related, with >80% of cases fully recovering by 6 months. VI nerve palsy of ischemic or idiopathic etiology and small baseline deviation were associated with self-recovery.

Purpose: The retinal thickness profile is essential for detecting ocular diseases like glaucoma and other optic neuropathies. The retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness is affected by age, ethnicity, axial length, optic disc area, and inter-eye differences. Ocular dominance has a strong functional correlation with cerebral cortical activity. However, its relationship with RNFL thickness profile is yet to be fully established., Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted in 136 healthy adults to study the association between ocular dominance and RNFL parameters measured by Spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT) and to study the association of ocular dominance with other parameters such as handedness, intraocular pressure, average axial length, average keratometry, and refractive error. Sighting ocular dominance was detected using the Miles test, and sensory ocular dominance was detected using the fogging test. Visual acuity and refraction assessment were done, and the patients underwent ocular biometry using the Lenstar 900 machine to measure the axial length and keratometry. The RNFL thickness was measured using the Cirrus HD optical coherence tomographer., Results: One hundred and thirty-two (97.06%) individuals were right-handed, four (2.94%) were left-handed, 108 (79.41%) participants were right eye dominant, and 28 (20.59%) were left eye dominant. There was 100% agreement between sighting and sensory ocular dominance. The average RNFL thickness and other measured ocular parameters were comparable in the dominant and nondominant eyes. Regardless of dominance, the left eyes in the study cohort had a greater statistically significant difference in superior RNFL thickness (P < 0.05), which correlated with increased central macular thickness., Conclusion: Ocular dominance occurred mostly in the right eye. Purpose: To evaluate the impact of an educational video in improving awareness of eye donation among non-medical healthcare workers at a tertiary health centre., Methods: A socio-behavioural study on knowledge and attitude towards eye donation was conducted among 373 non-medical healthcare workers through a printed semi-structured questionnaire before and after viewing a bilingual educational video. The responses were evaluated and scored., Results: Pre-intervention, only 5.4% of the participants had adequate knowledge, which improved significantly to 71.6% after watching the video (P < .001). Respondents with elementary school education showed the greatest change in knowledge. Pre-intervention, 72.4% were willing to donate their eyes, which significantly increased to 89.5% after watching the video. Pre-intervention, 66.22% showed a "highly favourable" attitude, which improved to 97.86% after watching the video., Conclusion: The 25 min video about eye donation and eye banking significantly changed the participants' knowledge, willingness, and attitude. Hence, media-based (video) awareness platforms may be valuable for improving the general public's knowledge and attitude towards eye donation. Background Fundus examination is an integral part of the clinical evaluation of patients with medical emergencies. It is done at the bedside using a portable direct ophthalmoscope. Smartphone fundus photography (SFP) is a novel technique of retinal imaging. We evaluated the use of SFP by a physician in medical emergencies and compared it with direct ophthalmoscopy (DO) findings of the ophthalmologist. Methods We did a prospective study on patients admitted with medical emergencies with an indication for fundus examination. The SFP was done by the physician, and its findings were noted. These were compared with the DO findings of the ophthalmologist. Results Of the 182 patients studied, 111 (61%) had fundus findings by SFP and 95 (52.5%) by DO. Papilloedema (21.4%), haemorrhages (20%) and Roth spots (12.5%) were most common. DO missed early papilloedema and findings in the peripheral retina. Conclusions SFP is as effective as DO, in detecting retinal findings in patients with medical emergencies and can be performed at the bedside by the physician.

Background: The use of human amniotic membrane transplantation is rapidly increasing for the management of various ocular surface disorders. Despite its numerous advantages, amniotic membrane is not widely available due to the lack of awareness among ophthalmologists regarding its preparation and preservation techniques., Purpose: To provide an instructional video demonstrating the technique of harvesting, preparation, preservation of human amniotic membrane, and its uses in the management of ocular surface diseases., Synopsis: The amniotic membrane is the innermost layer of the human placenta. Properties of the amniotic membrane, like the presence of various growth factors, anti-inflammatory and anti-angiogenic factors, and its low immunogenicity, contribute to its ability to promote epithelial growth and differentiation with the reduction in fibrosis during healing. To harvest amniotic membrane, informed consent is obtained from a patient undergoing an elective caesarian section, and the donor is screened to exclude the risk of infections. Under sterile precautions, the amniotic membrane is separated from the chorion and washed free of blood clots. With the epithelial surface up, the amniotic membrane is spread uniformly without folds or tears on individually sterilized 0.22 μm nitrocellulose filter papers of the required sizes. The prepared filter paper with the adherent amniotic membrane is placed in freshly prepared Dulbecco's Modified Eagle's Medium and stored at -80°C. The amniotic membrane can be used for surgical procedures like symblepharon release, pterygium or dermoid excision, perforated ulcers, nonhealing epithelial defects, etc., Highlights: Instructional videos demonstrating the preparation and preservation of amniotic membrane are very sparse. A middle-aged woman presented with a slowly enlarging mass in the right superotemporal orbit and ptosis. The patient had an elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate, and incisional biopsy showed granulomatous inflammation with Langhan's giant cells suggestive of a tubercular etiology. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to assess the retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness in patients with pseudoexfoliation (PXF) and to correlate it with anterior segment parameters such as intraocular pressure (IOP), central corneal thickness (CCT), pigments in angle structures, and grades of PXF., Methodology: This was a cross-sectional comparative study in a tertiary care center. Patients having unilateral PXF were categorized as group 1. Age- and sex-matched healthy controls were categorized as group 2. All subjects underwent IOP measurement, CCT measurement, and retinal nerve fiber thickness measurement. Subjects in group 1 also underwent gonioscopy and perimetry. Data were entered and analyzed using the IBM-SPSS program (version 20.0); Chicago, IL., Results: Mean RNFL thickness in group 1 was 85.91 ± 22.237 μ and in group 2 was 106.65 ± 6.1 μ. The mean RNFL thickness in patients with PXF syndrome was 103.38 ± 5.815 μ and in patients with PXF glaucoma was 67.82 ± 17.984 μ. The mean CCT in patients with PXF syndrome was 516.41 ± 23.03 μ and in patients with PXF glaucoma was 507 ± 33.05 μ and control group was 526.6 m. The mean IOP in patients with PXF syndrome was 8 ± 6.01 mmHg; in patients with PXF glaucoma was 17.21 ± 7.33 mmHg; and in the control group was 14.12 ± 2.693 mmHg. There was a negative correlation between IOP and RNFL thickness, and a positive correlation between CCT and RNFL thickness, but it was not statistically significant. A statistically significant correlation was found between grades of PXF and RNFL thinning with a correlation coefficient of 0.437 ( P = 0.001)., Conclusion: Patients with PXF have a lower CCT, higher mean IOP, and RNFL thinning compared to normal subjects. Background: In India, facility-based surveillance for congenital rubella syndrome (CRS) was initiated in 2016 to estimate the burden and monitor the progress made in rubella control. We analyzed the surveillance data for 2016-2021 from 14 sentinel sites to describe the epidemiology of CRS., Method: We analyzed the surveillance data to describe the distribution of suspected and laboratory confirmed CRS patients by time, place and person characteristics. We compared clinical signs of laboratory confirmed CRS and discarded case-patients to find independent predictors of CRS using logistic regression analysis and developed a risk prediction model., Results: During 2016-21, surveillance sites enrolled 3940 suspected CRS case-patients (Age 3.5 months, SD: 3.5). About one-fifth (n = 813, 20.6%) were enrolled during newborn examination. Of the suspected CRS patients, 493 (12.5%) had laboratory evidence of rubella infection. The proportion of laboratory confirmed CRS cases declined from 26% in 2017 to 8.7% in 2021. Laboratory confirmed patients had higher odds of having hearing impairment (Odds ratio [OR] = 9.5, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 5.6-16.2), cataract (OR = 7.8, 95% CI: 5.4-11.2), pigmentary retinopathy (OR = 6.7, 95 CI: 3.3-13.6), structural heart defect with hearing impairment (OR = 3.8, 95% CI: 1.2-12.2) and glaucoma (OR = 3.1, 95% CI: 1.2-8.1). Nomogram, along with a web version, was developed., Conclusions: Rubella continues to be a significant public health issue in India. A 28-year-old male presented with a large conjunctival lobulated, nonpulsatile, red vascular lesion involving a large part of the temporal quadrant of the left globe. There was no proptosis or globe displacement, but the left eye abduction was limited. T2-weighted magnetic resonance imaging scan of the brain and orbit revealed an extensive contrast-enhancing lobulated lesion in the left half of the face involving the upper lip, cheek, oral cavity, extraconal space of left orbit, and nasal cavity. Purpose: To study the effect of increasing grades of hypertensive retinopathy (HTR) on neonatal outcomes among preeclamptic women and assess the various maternal risk factors for HTR., Methods: A prospective cohort study was conducted on 258 preeclamptic women. The systolic and diastolic blood pressure (SBP and DBP), liver, and renal function parameters were collected besides basic demographic details. Dilated fundus examination with the Keith-Wagner-Barker classification was used to grade HTR. Following delivery, neonatal outcomes were evaluated., Results: Of the 258 preeclamptic women recruited, 53.1% had preeclampsia (PE), and 46.9% had severe preeclampsia. With increasing grades of HTR, a significant association with low birth weight (LBW) (p = 0.012) and preterm gestational age (p = 0.002) was noted but not with the Appearance, Pulse, Grimace, Activity and Respiration (APGAR) score (p = 0.062). Also, it did not increase the risk of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), with most babies, even those born to mothers with high grades of HTR, showing no evidence of ROP (p = 0.025). Among the maternal factors, increasing age (p = 0.016), SBP (p < 0.001), DBP (p < 0.001), serum creatinine (p = 0.035), alanine aminotransferase (p = 0.008), lower hemoglobin (Hb) (p = 0.009), lower platelet (p < 0.001), and severe PE (p < 0.001) have been found to significantly affect the grade of HTR., Conclusion: Higher grades of HTR in the preeclamptic mother are associated with preterm delivery and LBW of the neonates but neither affect the APGAR score nor pose the risk of developing ROP., Competing Interests: None

Purpose: To assess the refractive outcomes in eyes with severe Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) after treatment with the frequency-doubled neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet (Nd-YAG) laser 532 nm (green laser) at 1-2 years of age and compare with eyes that underwent spontaneous regression of ROP and to identify the risk factors associated with the refractive outcomes in laser-treated eyes with severe ROP., Methodology: Infants who underwent laser treatment with green laser were enrolled in Group 1 and those who had spontaneous regression of ROP were enrolled in Group 2. All these children underwent a visual assessment, refraction using 1% cyclopentolate eye drops and indirect ophthalmoscopy at 1-2 years of age. Data regarding the gestational age, sex, birth weight, inborn (born in our institution) or outborn (born outside and referred to us), stage and zone of ROP and laser spots given were obtained from the treatment records. Data were analyzed using SSPS 19.0 software for Windows (SSPS Inc., Chicago, Illinois, USA)., Results: A total of 102 infants were enrolled, 51 in each group. Visual acuity ranged from 0.25-1 cycles per cm in both groups. Spherical equivalent (SE) ranged from - 8.25 D to + 5.50 D in Group 1 and -1.00D to +4.00D in Group 2. Group 1 had an incidence of 23.5% Myopia and 33.4% Astigmatism which was significantly more than Group 2. The linear regression model predicted a decrease in the SE by 0.658D if the number of laser spots increased by 1000 ( P < 0.001). No other risk factors (gestational age/birth weight) were found to have a significant association with refractive errors in the lasered ROP group., Conclusions: Eyes with laser-treated severe ROP are frequently associated with myopia and astigmatism when compared to spontaneously regressed ROP. Purpose: To assess the perinatal risk factors, clinical characteristics, and microbial profile in congenital nasolacrimal duct obstruction (CNLDO)., Methods: A prospective observational study was conducted in pediatric patients of age <5 years. After a thorough clinical evaluation, the diagnosis of the CNLDO was confirmed by a Jones dye test or fluorescein dye disappearance test. A microbiological culture of lacrimal sac resurge was done with a sterile swab stick without touching the lid margins. Antibiotic susceptibility was then performed for the standard antibiotics., Results: Seventy-one eyes of 52 children were included in the study. The mean age was 3.4 months. Our research found an equal number of cases born via spontaneous vaginal delivery and Caesarean section. Nine children (17.3%) had associated systemic and ocular anomalies. The number of cultures that were positive for any growth was 19 (27%). The most common isolate was Streptococcus pneumoniae which constituted eight cases (42%), followed by Pseudomonas aeruginosa (15.8%), and Escherichia coli (10.5%). Other organisms that grew were Klebsiella pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis and nonfermenting gram-negative bacilli. Gram-positive organisms were susceptible to ciprofloxacin, amoxiclav, and oxacillin, and most of them were resistant to erythromycin. In comparison, gram-negative organisms showed 62.5% resistance and 37.5% susceptibility to ciprofloxacin., Conclusions: CNLDO was more commonly unilateral, in male, preterm, and normal birth weight infants. Bilateral CNLDO was more commonly associated with coexisting ocular or systemic anomalies. Prematurity, delivery by Caesarean section, and presence of congenital anomalies were associated with a prolonged course. S. pneumoniae was the predominant isolate in our patient population.

Introduction: Primitive neuroectodermal tumors arise from the progenitor cells of the neural crest, in the central nervous system or other peripheral locations., Case Presentation: We report a rare case of a congenital malignant tumor, diagnosed as a primary orbital primitive neuroectodermal tumor on histopathological examination., Conclusion: Multidisciplinary management with adjuvant chemotherapy needed for the management of these cases.

Purpose: To assess the level of stereopsis in school children with spectacle-corrected refractive errors using Titmus fly and Randot stereo tests, evaluate the factors associated with the level of stereopsis, and determine the level of agreement between the two tests., Methods: A cross-sectional study was done on 5- to 18-year-old school-children wearing spectacles for at least 1-month duration. Visual acuity was assessed using Snellen's visual acuity chart, and their spectacle correction being used currently was measured using an auto lensmeter. The level of stereopsis was assessed using Randot and Titmus fly stereo tests. Data were entered using Microsoft Excel and analyzed using IBM-SPSS version 20, Chicago, IL. The associations between stereopsis and type of refractive error, visual acuity, age, and gender were analyzed. An agreement between Randot and Titmus fly test was done using Kappa statistics., Results: A total of 222 children (101 boys and 121 girls; mean age 13 years) were assessed. Astigmatism was the most prevalent refractive error (60.4%), followed by myopia (24.8%) and hypermetropia (1.4%). Thirty children (13.5%) had anisometropia. All hyperopes had normal stereopsis. Children with spherical myopia had better stereopsis, followed by astigmatism and anisometropia in the same order (P = 0.036). Children with anisometropia ≤1.5 D had better stereopsis than anisometropia more than 1.5 D. Stereopsis was also found to have no correlation with the age and visual acuity at the time of testing or the age at which the child first started wearing spectacles. Stereopsis values obtained from Randot and Titmus fly stereo tests showed moderate agreement with Kappa value 0.581., Conclusion: Anisometropia and astigmatism are the most critical factors determining the level of stereopsis in refractive errors., Competing Interests: None

A 50-year-old female patient presented with protrusion of the left eye for 1 month. Examination showed abaxial proptosis, restriction of extraocular movements, and elevated intraocular pressure. Computed tomography of the orbits showed soft tissue enhancing lesion in the superolateral aspect of the left orbit with lytic lesions in calvarium. Fine needle aspiration cytology of the lesion revealed a diagnosis of plasmacytoma with positive CD138 and CD38 immunohistochemical stains. Erythrocyte sedimentation rate, C-reactive protein and serum lactate dehydrogenase were elevated. Serum protein electrophoresis revealed hypergammaglobulinemia, and bone marrow biopsy revealed 6% plasma cells. The patient was started on chemotherapy with bortezomib, dexamethasone and lenalidomide by the medical oncologist. Significant improvement in proptosis and extraocular movements noted on follow-up. Orbital myeloma may be the first manifestation of systemic disease.

Prevention and early management of postburn cicatricial ectropion is the best strategy to avoid ocular complications, with poor visual prognosis in extreme cases. A 51-year-old man presented with diminution of vision and absolute inability to close both eyes, 3 months after thermal burn injuries to face, upper limbs, and trunk. His best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) was 1/60 in BE. He had bilateral extremely severe ectropion involving both upper and lower lids with complete inability to close the eyes. The ensuing exposure keratitis developed secondary infection by Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) in the right eye and multidrug-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa in the left eye. His extreme ectropion prevented infection healing, so its release and full-thickness skin grafting was done when partial resolution of infection was noted. After 3 months, he had moderate residual ectropion in BE; vascularized corneal scar in the inferior part of the right eye (BCVA:20/40) and adherent leucoma in left eye (BCVA:HM). Prioritizing ectropion surgery in our extreme case for infection control, facilitated corneal healing. Background: Orbital hematolymphoid lesions are rare and usually encountered in elderly patients. Orbital lesions are not easy to biopsy: hence fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) can be a very good diagnostic modality for these lesions., Materials and Methods: Cases of orbital masses subjected to FNAC dating from 2013 to 2020 were retrieved from our archives. A total of 16 cases with biopsy confirmation were included. All clinical details, the type of procedure, details of the immunocytochemistry (ICC) performed on smear, follow-up biopsy, and their haematological work-up were analysed in detail., Results: Sixteen biopsy-confirmed cases had been diagnosed as orbital haematolymphoid lesions on cytomorphology and further categorised with ancillary studies including ICC. In twelve instances, the cytology impression was congruent with the histopathological diagnosis and eight of the sixteen cases (50%) proved to be primary orbital lymphoma. Four were secondary orbital lymphomas and the remaining four included one case each of plasmacytoma, myeloid sarcoma, Rosai-Dorfman disease and angiolymphoid hyperplasia with eosinophilia., Conclusion: FNAC is a minimally invasive procedure for diagnosing most of the haematolymphoid orbital lesions and it has a rapid turnaround time. The accuracy of cytomorphology combined with ICC on smears/cell blocks can be as good as a biopsy for exact categorisation. Additionally, aspirate smears are preferred samples for cytogenetics compared to formalin-fixed tissue blocks, as molecular cytogenetics techniques are frequently employed for diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic purposes., (© 2020 John Wiley & Sons Ltd.)

Primary rhabdoid tumors are highly malignant, rare tumors occurring in the renal, extrarenal soft tissue or central nervous system. They have non-specific radiological features and present with several histological components that create a problem in differential diagnosis with other embryonal tumors. Purpose: To describe the varied presentations of posterior keratoconus., Methods: This is a 3-year institute-based retrospective study report from June 2015 to June 2018 that describes 13 eyes of 12 patients with varied presentations of posterior keratoconus, evaluating tomographic changes using Scheimpflug corneal tomography and anterior segment optical coherence tomography. Slit-lamp examination revealed circumscribed nebular corneal opacity with posterior corneal depression., Results: Eleven patients had unilateral and one had a bilateral presentation. Five patients presented in the first and second decade with a nebular opacity and circumscribed excavation of the posterior cornea. One patient was a 12-year-old girl who presented with systemic manifestations. Seven others were middle-aged adults with superior, central, or peripheral excavation. Two patients had microcornea., Conclusions: This is the largest case series on posterior keratoconus, depicting its varied features. Diagnosis of this uncommon condition requires a high index of suspicion, meticulous slit-lamp examination, and systemic evaluation to rule out other associated anomalies. We report a patient of unilateral posterior keratoconus with systemic associations, second such case in the literature.

Purpose: The purpose is to study the ocular surface changes among patients with diabetes mellitus (DM) and to correlate them with tear film markers such as insulin-like growth factor (IGF)-1, interleukin (IL)-1β, and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α levels., Materials and Methods: The study was carried out on diabetic patients (>5 years' duration) and healthy age- and gender-matched controls with 21 individuals in each group. Schirmer's test for basal and reflex tear secretion, tear film breakup time (TBUT) for tear stability, ocular staining score (OSS) for dryness severity, ocular surface disease index (OSDI) for symptomatic assessment of dryness and conjunctival impression cytology (IC) for epithelial cell integrity, keratinization, squamous metaplasia, and goblet cell density was studied. Thirty microliters of tears were collected to test IGF-1, IL-1β, and TNF-α levels., Results: Patients with DM showed significantly low Schirmer's, TBUT, and OSS values than controls. OSDI score showed moderate-severe dryness in patients with DM and only mild symptoms among controls. An abnormal IC score was seen among cases and controls. The level of TNF-α was significantly increased in patients with DM and positively correlated with Schirmer and TBUT values ( P < 0.05)., Conclusion: Dry eye is more prevalent in patients with DM compared to controls as evidenced by poor OSDI score, Schirmer, TBUT, and OSS. TNF-α in the tears of patients with DM is a useful marker that showed a good correlation with Schirmer, TBUT, and dry eye symptoms.
