The aim of this study is to examine the Darcy–Forchheimer flow = of H2O-based Al−Al2O3/Cu−Al2O3 hybrid nanofluid past a heated stretchable plate including heat consumption/ generation and non-linear radiation impacts. The governing flow equations are formulated using the Naiver–Stokes equation. These flow equations are re-framed by using the befitted transformations. The MATLAB bvp4c scheme is utilized to compute the converted flow equations numerically. The graphs, tables, and charts display the vicissitudes in the hybrid nanofluid velocity, hybrid nanofluid temperature, skin friction coefficient, and local Nusselt number via relevant flow factors. It can be seen that the hybrid nanofluid velocity decreased as the magnetic field parameter was increased. The hybrid nanofluid temperature tended to rise as the heat absorption/generation, nanoparticle volume friction, and nonlinear radiation parameters were increased. The surface drag force decreased when the quantity of the magnetic parameter increased. The larger size of the radiation parameter led to enrichment of the heat transmission gradient.

We present a comparison of different surface preparation techniques for hot-extruded (BiSb)(TeSe) alloys prior to Ni plating and their consequences on adhesion. The surface preparation is carried out by a relatively fast and well-controlled electrochemical etching procedure that provides morphologies with homogeneous flat surfaces on a scale of tens of micrometers. This procedure is not optimal for Ni metallization since it does not ensure enough roughness on the surface. Applying wet chemical etching with hypochlorite and nitric acid after the electrochemical etching changes the morphology, and the surface roughness increases, as evidenced by scanning electron microscopy and atomic force microscopy. Tensile tests carried out on n-type and p-type 1-mm-thick specimens, covered with a 12- μm Ni layer followed by Sn-Pb soldered joints, confirm a significant improvement in the ultimate adhesion strength, with fracture occurring within the thermoelectric material. Use of this two-step surface treatment, after slicing and prior to metallization, leads to maximum adhesion strength of around 38 MPa for either type of thermoelectric material. Background: Recent literature has explored the role of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) triggering in frozen embryo transfer (FET) cycles with natural endometrial preparation. Despite this, the impact of hCG triggering on pregnancy outcomes following endometrial preparation with mild stimulation (mST) using Letrozole and Gonadotropins remains inadequately characterized. This study aimed to elucidate the effects of hCG-trigger on pregnancy outcomes in mST-FET cycles., Methods: In the present retrospective cohort study, the pregnancy outcomes of 409 eligible patients who underwent FET cycles with endometrial preparation using a mild ovarian stimulation protocol by letrozole plus low dose gonadotropins at the Royan Institute between 2020 and 2022, were investigated. The study population were segregated into two distinct groups according to type of ovulation: the spontaneous ovulation group (n = 138) and the hCG-trigger group (n = 271). The pregnancy outcomes including implantation and clinical pregnancy rates (CPR) and live birth rates (LBR) were compared between two groups. The multivariable logistic regression was performed to detect the most significant variables related to the LBR in the mST-FET cycles., Results: Demographic and baseline characteristics were comparable between groups. No significant difference was found in terms of implantation rate (0.65 ± 0.32 vs. 0.60 ± 0.30, P-value: 0.31), CPR (37% vs. 39.7%, P-value: 0.53), and LBR (35.5% vs. 37.3%, P-value: 0.74) in the spontaneous ovulation and hCG-trigger groups, respectively. The logistic regression analysis revealed that only the stage of the transferred embryo exhibited a significant relationship with LBR (blastocyst vs. cleavage: odds ratio (OR); 2.33, 95% confidence interval (CI):1.41-3.86, P-value = 0.001)., Conclusion: Pregnancy outcomes in the mST-FET cycles, including implantation rate, CPR, and LBR are comparable in cycles with or without hCG triggering. Based on the findings from multivariate regression analysis, the sole significant predictive factor for the LBR was the transfer of blastocyst embryos. It is recommended that these results be examined and discussed in future prospective studies with a larger sample size, considering the lack of comparable research in this field., (© 2024. Cotton fabrics with superhydrophobic, antibacterial, UV protection, and photothermal properties were developed using Ag/PDMS coatings, and the role of coating formulations on the obtained functionalities was studied. Specific attention was paid to understanding the relationships between the fabrics' superhydrophobicity and antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli ( E. coli ) bacteria. UV protection performance of Ag/PDMS coatings was thoroughly evaluated based on the variation of UV transmission rate through coated fabrics and photoinduced chemiluminescence spectra. Moreover, the effect of silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) and PDMS on developing a photothermal effect on fabrics was discussed. It was found that the content of Ag NPs and PDMS played critical roles in determining the water contact angle (WCA) on modified fabrics. The largest WCA was 171.31°, which was durable even after numerous accelerated wash cycles and abrasions. Antibacterial activity of fabrics showed the positive effect of pure PDMS in bacterial growth inhibition. Moreover, it was found that the antibacterial performance was greatly affected by the content of Ag NPs loaded on fabrics rather than their superhydrophobic status. Moreover, increasing the content of Ag NPs boosted the UV protection level of fabrics, improved fabrics photostability, and reduced the UV transmission rate through fabrics. Testing the photothermal effect confirmed that the content of Ag NPs and PDMS both played prominent roles, where Ag acted as a photothermal agent and PDMS determined the NIR reflection rate from the coated surface. The modified fabrics were characterized using TGA, SEM, FTIR, and XRD techniques, and it was confirmed that using a higher amount of PDMS increased the amount of Ag NPs deposition on fabrics.

Background: Aging is generally associated with numerous metabolic and physical changes that augment susceptibility to several chronic conditions, disability, and diminished quality of life., Objective: The purpose of this meta-analysis was to investigate the efficacy of resistance training on quality of life, depression, muscle strength, and functional exercise capacity in older adults (≥60 years)., Data Sources: A systematic search was conducted in PubMed, MEDLINE, Cochrane, Google Scholar, and Scopus up to December 20, 2021., Results: 21 studies ( N = 1610) were included. Resistance training significantly improved physical functioning (standard mean differences (SMD), 0.31; p = 0.02), mental health (SMD, 0.44; p = 0.001), bodily pain (SMD, -0.52; p = 0.004), general health (SMD, 0.43; p = 0.002), social functioning (SMD, 0.25; p = 0.006), and mental component score (SMD, 0.51; p = 0.001) subscales. Moreover, depression (SMD, -1.13; p = 0.01), upper-limb muscle strength (mean difference (MD), 15.26 kg; p = 0.002), lower-limb muscle strength (MD, 48.46 kg; p = 0.02), and handgrip muscle strength (MD, 1.35 kg; p = 0.003) significantly improved following resistance training. No benefits were found for vitality, physical component score, total score of quality of life, and the 6-min walk distance., Conclusion: Preliminary evidence reveals that resistance training can be effective for improving most domains of quality of life, upper- and lower-limb muscle strength, handgrip strength, and depression in aged people. More proof is hence needed to draw solid conclusions.

Projects are rarely executed exactly as planned. Often, the actual duration of a project's activities differ from the planned duration, resulting in costs stemming from the inaccurate estimation of the activity's completion date. While monitoring a project at various inspection points is pricy, it can lead to a better estimation of the project completion time, hence saving costs. Nonetheless, identifying the optimal inspection points is a difficult task, as it requires evaluating a large number of the project's path options, even for small-scale projects. This paper proposes an analytical method for identifying the optimal project inspection points by using information theory measures. We search for monitoring (inspection) points that can maximize the information about the project's estimated duration or completion time. The proposed methodology is based on a simulation-optimization scheme using a Monte Carlo engine that simulates potential activities' durations. An exhaustive search is performed of all possible monitoring points to find those with the highest expected information gain on the project duration. The proposed algorithm's complexity is little affected by the number of activities, and the algorithm can address large projects with hundreds or thousands of activities. Numerical experimentation and an analysis of various parameters are presented.

A rabbit blood sugar bioidentity assay is required by the FDA to evaluate biological activity for all insulin and its analogs per USP<121> guideline. Not only are a large number of live animals used, but the rabbit blood sugar method is also highly variable and expensive. Our goal is to develop a functional cell-based assay to replace rabbit blood sugar method. An H4IIE G6P-Luc reporter assay was developed by utilizing insulin's role in regulating hepatic gluconeogenesis pathway. It is known that Glucose 6-phosphatase is a rate-limiting enzyme in the gluconeogenesis pathway, and the mRNA expression of its catalytic subunit, G6PC, is highly regulated by insulin. A G6P-Luc stable cell line in H4IIE hepatocytes was first generated by stably expressing luciferase reporter gene driven by human G6PC promoter via lentivirus technology. The cell-based assay was developed and optimized to demonstrate good dose-dependent responsiveness to insulin. We further qualified the assay with two analysts through multiple runs, and demonstrated excellent performance characteristics of linearity, accuracy, and precision. A robustness study was then conducted to define critical factors for assay performance. We compared this newly developed assay with a previously established cell-based pIR MSD assay, which measures insulin receptor phosphorylation (pIR) in HepG2 cell line using Meso-Scale Discovery (MSD) technology. The comparability study was conducted to compare the two assays using samples generated from forced degradation. This study showed high correlation between assays, and both are stability indicating. Compared with the pIR MSD assay, the G6P-Luc assay not only has a significantly lower variability in qualification studies, but also offers many other advantages, including ease of use in a quality control laboratory with fewer steps, lower cost, and does not depend on a single vendor. The use of nanomaterials in textiles provides many new opportunities and advantages for users and manufacturers; however, it comes with some of its downsides and challenges which need to be understood and overcome for enhancing the applicability of these products. This review article discusses the recent progress in developing self-cleaning and conductive textiles as two of the leading research fields of smart textiles. In particular, different aspects of fabricating nanocoatings for photocatalytic self-cleaning, superhydrophobic and electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding effect will be brought to light. The theoretical concepts, mechanisms, latest fabrication methods along with their potential applications will be discussed. Moreover, the current drawbacks of these fields will be underlined and some recommendations for future research trajectories in terms of performance, current limitations, sustainability and safety will be proposed. Adolescent disclosure is a positive feature of parent-adolescent relationships, though disclosure to parents typically declines across adolescence. However, little is known about parental emotions that facilitate or inhibit real-time adolescent disclosures about their emotions and how parents respond to such disclosures during parent-adolescent interactions. The present study tested (1) whether maternal emotions were associated with the time to adolescents' spontaneous emotional disclosures and (2) whether these associations varied as a function of adolescent age. Adolescents ( N = 49, M age = 14.84 years) and their mothers participated in a 10-min conflict discussion. Adolescent emotional disclosures and maternal emotions were coded moment-to-moment. Results from survival analysis demonstrated that older adolescents whose mothers expressed high levels of negative affect or high levels of validation were more likely to make emotional disclosures earlier in the discussion than were older adolescents whose mothers expressed low negative affect or low validation. There were no differences in associations between maternal emotions and the timing of emotional disclosures for younger adolescents. Findings suggest that a range of maternal emotions (validation and negative affect) might be features of high-quality mother-adolescent relationships in older adolescence, when parent-adolescent relationships are more egalitarian and negative emotions may be more readily expressed. Implications for applying observational methodologies and dynamic statistical techniques to the adolescent disclosure literature are discussed. Peptides and proteins commonly have complex structural landscapes allowing for transformation into a wide array of species including oligomers, aggregates, and fibrils. The formation of undesirable forms including aggregates and fibrils poses serious risks from the perspective of drug development and disease. Liraglutide, a GLP-1 agonist for the treatment of diabetes, is a conjugated peptide that forms oligomers that can be stabilized by pH and organic solvents. We have developed an analytical toolkit to overcome challenges inherent to Liraglutide's conjugated acyl chain and probed the impact its oligomers have on its physical stability. Our studies show that Liraglutide's oligomer states have significant and potentially detrimental impacts on its propensity to aggregate and form fibrils as well as its potency. Liraglutide delivered as a synthetic peptide is able to maintain its oligomerization state in dried lyophilized powders, acting as a memory effect from its synthetic process and purification. Through Liraglutide's oligomer memory effect, we demonstrate the importance and impact the process for synthetic peptides can have on drug development spanning from discovery to formulation development.
