Due to their organic nature, antique textile artifacts are extremely vulnerable to numerous types of damage. Whether they are made of plants as cotton and linen or of fibers from animal origin such as wool and silk. The holdings of archaeological textiles must undergo various investigations and analyses in order to determine their material components, the process and method of their manufacturing, and the various types of damage to select the proper conservation techniques and materials. This study focuses on repairing and maintaining one of the textile collections, which was in the Textile Museum - now transferred to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization: NMEC, that exhibit extensive damage. Various conservation techniques and supplies were used to address the damage. This piece of cloth was a linen fabric, according to infrared investigations and analyses. It was also discovered that there were numerous signs of damage, including weakness, fragility, inappropriate previous conservations, and erosion of the linen fibers. After that, various conservation steps were performed, such as mechanical cleaning, removal of previous conservation, and reinforcement. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Background and objectives: Khat chewing is popular among Yemenis. This study was performed to investigate the effects of Khat chewing on periodontal tissue (gum), teeth status and other oral health status. Methods: A total of 3000 adult subjects (2400 chewers and 600 non-chewers with a mean age of 29.5 ± 2.9 and 28.6 ± 1.7 years, respectively) were involved in this study in 2014. The Basic Periodontal Examination (BPE) technique that recommended by the British Society of Periodontology was used as screening tool to obtain the picture of the periodontal condition. The rate of the clinical conditions and associated OR were analysis, by comparing their occurrence between Khat chewers and non Khat chewers, then significance was tested by chi-squared test. Results: The oral health status of nonchewers was significantly better than that of chewers. The worst sextant score of chewers was a highly significant in which the rate and associated OR of type 4 and type 3 were 8.5% with RR= 18.5 times and 21.7% with 1.9 times respectively, while that of nonchewers were 0.5% and 12.7%, the difference being statistically significant (Pv<0.0001). The incidence of tooth bad conditions as tooth loose, attrition, and staining were significantly higher in Khatchewers. About 11% of chewers complained of mouth pain, as compared with only about 2% of non-chewers. Furthermore, on oral mucosa ulcer erosion, white patch, red patch, vesicles and creaked were present in 19.5%, 76.7%, 23%, 11% and 25.3% respectively of chewers, as com-pared to 0.3%, 2%, 8%, 0.16% and 1% of non-chewers. Similarly, gingival wrinkled, whitening, redness and recession ulcers on the oral mucosa were present in 56.5%, 52%, 43.7%, and 96.7% respectively of chewers, as com-pared to 3%, 7%, 49%, and 53% of non-chewers. Also significant OR was associated with bad oral mucosa status, bad gingival status, and bad teeth conditions in Khat-chewers. Conclusion: There does appear to be a relationship between the terrible effect of chewing Khat on periodontal tissue and oral health status. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Different methods can be used for nanofibers fabrication such as bicomponent extrusion, template synthesis, self assembly, phase separation, meltblowing. drawing, electrospinning and centrifugal spinning. These fibers have numerous applications such as reinforcement fibers in composites, protective clothing, filiration, biomedical devices, electrical and optical applications, and nanosensors. This review paper sheds light upon production techniques of nanofibers, their physical properties and production parameters affecting these properties. Since electrospinning is still the most well known and widely used method for producing nanofibers, the effect of its parameters on nanofiber properties were also reviewed extensively. It was performed on 157 eyes of 157 healthy subjects. The distance of the medial rectus (MR) and the lateral rectus (LR) insertion sites from the limbus were measured using SS-ASOCT. The insertion sites’ distances were correlated to the axial length (hypermetropes < 22.5 mm, myopes > 24.5). Correlation between numerical variables was done by Pearson’s correlation coefficient and confirmed by linear regression analysis and scatter diagrams.Results: The mean MR insertion site was 5.47 ± 0.19 mm in hypermetropes versus 5.68 ± 0.23 mm in myopes, whereas the mean LR insertion site was 6.81± 0.23 mm in hyperopes versus 7.08 ± 0.16 mm in myopes. The axial length showed a moderate positive, but significant, correlation to the insertional position for the medial and lateral rectus muscles (MR: r=0.417, p< 0.001; LR: r=0.410, p< 0.001).Conclusion: Comparing the horizontal extraocular muscle insertion site to axial length using SS-ASOCT showed a significant positive correlation. The model equation for MR insertion: MR (mm) = 4.522 + 0.045 (AXL in mm) with an R = 0.437, R2= 0.191, F=12.071, P< 0.001. The model equation for LR insertion: LR (mm) = 5.72 + 0.048 (AXL in mm) with an R = 0.438, R2= 0.192, F=12.116, P< 0.001.Keywords: AS-OCT, axial length, extraocular muscle insertion site, swept-source OCT
