Objectives: The aim of this study was to evaluate the results of surgical treatment in patients with acetabular fractures with a fractured quadrilateral surface treated using two different approaches. Methods: The study included 106 patients who were operated on with ilioinguinal (group A) or modified Stoppa (group B) technique for acetabular fracture with a fractured quadrilateral surface between 2011 and 2020 in our clinic. The quality of reduction was evaluated according to Matta criteria and postoperative pelvic (anteroposterior, external oblique, iliac oblique) radiographs. Evaluation of hip function was recorded using the Merle d'aubigne and Postel Score and Harris Hip Score. Results: Among the patients included in the study, there were 45 patients in group A and 61 patients in group B. When the group data were compared, it was seen that the modified Stoppa approach was superior in terms of intraoperative reduction quality, radiological data, Harris hip score, Merle d'aubigne and PostelScore. (Respectively p=0.40, p=0.49, p=0.040, p=0.028). Conclusion: Modified Stoppa approach has successful clinical and radiological outcomes and better reduction quality and hip scores than ilioinguinal approaches in acetabular fractures involving quadrilateral plates. Aim: Psoas abscess is rare infectious condition with frequent complications in the diagnosis and treatment process. Unfortunately, there is limited information in the literature about the prognostic factors that determine the prognosis of psoas abscess. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical and laboratory parameters associated with recurrence in primary psoas abscess. Material and Methods: Fifty-two patients who were diagnosed with psoas abscess and treated with surgical drainage in a university hospital between 1998 and 2018 were included in our study. The patients were seperated into two groups as those who recovered after surgical drainage (Group A) and those who developed recurrence (Group B). Clinical and laboratory data of the patients from the beginning of the preoperative period to the postoperative period were compared. Results: The mean age was 47.42±14.12 years in Group A and 53.81±15.83 years in Group B. The mean follow-up time was 43.96±14.29 months. The neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio was 11.38±1.69 in Group A and 18.75±2.31 in Group B (p=0.001). The platelet to lymphocyte ratio was 114.96±30.31 in Group A and 139.70±42.25 in Group B (p=0.016). The Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation (APACHE II) score was higher in Group B (p=0.001). Conclusion: According to the results of the current study, the neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio, the platelet to lymphocyte ratio, the APACHE II score, and the delayed diagnosis are all important prognostic indicators linked to recurrence in instances with primary psoas abscess. Backgrounds: Pediatric femur fractures comprise a major portion of fractures that are repaired in emergency rooms. Treatment options include conservative methods, and surgical methods. Different problems such as angulation, malrotation and shortening may be observed both treatment methods. Methods: In this study twenty-two pediatric femoral fractures which treated with external fixators in past five years were evaluated retrospectively. Advantages, and disadvantages of external fixation were investigated. Results: Results were satisfactory. In conclusion, external fixator application is an easy to perform and quick method. Conclusions: Despite some disadvantages, it may be one of the treatment methods that should be considered in the first plan in pediatric femoral fractures due to reasons such as short length of hospital stay, early mobilization, ease of family care, rapid child and family compliance, early return to school, and reduced treatment costs. The ingrown toenail is a condition of the active young population that often seriously impairs the patient's comfort, causing distress to walk, which is seen in the second and the third decades. We aimed to compare two different treatment techniques for that disease. A total of 80 patients who underwent surgery, using the Winograd technique, due to an ingrown toenail were included. The mean age of the patients was 29 (21-44) years. There were 32 female (40.0%), and 48 male (60.0%) patients. The patients were divided into two groups: Group 1 (n=40) is consisted of patients in whom electrocautery was applied during the surgery, whereas curettage was done in Group II (n = 40). Recurrence and infection rates were compared. The statistical analysis revealed no significant difference between the two groups in terms of recurrence, and infection rates (p> 0.005). Our results showed that there is no superiority of one of these methods to the other in terms of the recurrence, and infection rates. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This study aimed to assess the treatment process of open, unstable tuft fractures occurring in toddlers and preschool-aged children treated using a 25-gauge hypodermic needle in the emergency department, and the cosmetic and functional results achieved by this treatment. This retrospective cohort study included a total of 72 patients. Children aged two to six years were included in the study. Van Beek classification was used for the evaluation of nail bed injuries. Cosmetic results were evaluated on the basis of Zook classification whereas functional results were evaluated according to the Buck-Gramko score simplified by Nietosvaara et al . The patient population consisted of 52 men and 20 women. The mean age was 4 ± 1.33 years. The operating time was 19.17 ± 3.66 minutes and the time to union was 46.68 ± 4.84 days. While excellent and good functional results were obtained in 65 (90.2%) of the patients, excellent and very good cosmetic results were obtained in 51 (70.8%) patients. Unless there is an accompanying extremity fracture, unstable pediatric tuft fractures can be successfully fixed with a hypodermic needle in the emergency department.
