Functioning, Performances and Future of Olive Producing Farms in Medenine, Tunisia. This paper studies the functioning, performances and future of the olive growing in Médenine (Tunisia) through a micro-economic diagnosis in a sample of 119 private olive producing farms. Results indicate that most farms are family holdings, have small size and are managed by aged people, destitute of successors and pluri-activate. The agricultural activity, conducted in dryland, procure a small yearly income at the order of 32 TND/ha and 1124 TND by active family member. It doesn't constitute the only life-source of farmers of which 63% have extra-agricultural resources permitting them to satisfy completely or partially there family and farm needs. Olive growing activity generates a better income (48 TND/ha). It is not sufficiently innovative; investments that are done are small. Farmers, that are willing and able to undertake and to finance development actions in olive growing activity, are a minority.

Cette recherche fournit une estimation de la production et des exportations d’huile d’olive tunisienne au marché européen en 2016. L’estimation des exportations a été réalisée pour deux scénarios de libéralisation totale et partielle des importations européennes originaires des pays tiers. Cette recherche utilise la méthode Delphi qui constitue un outil populaire de prospective à moyen et long terme et d’aide à la décision. Les informations utilisées proviennent des résultats d’une enquête effectuée en deux tours auprès de 19 experts qui assurent des fonctions différentes au niveau de la filière oléicole en Tunisie. Les résultats révèlent que la production d’huile d’olive atteindra 250 000 tonnes et les exportations au marché européen seront potentiellement de 224 000 tonnes lors d’une libéralisation partielle et de 206 000 tonnes lors d’une libéralisation totale. La Tunisie profitera plus d’une libéralisation partielle que d’une libéralisation totale qui l’exposera à la concurrence des autres pays tiers producteurs et exportateurs.

Hydatidosis is a parasitic disease due to Echinococcus granulosus. Spinal hytatidosis is the most common form, characterized by high morbidity and mortality. It is often diagnosed only when neurological complications occur, due to the long clinical latency and the non specific nature of symptoms. Standard radiography may show lacunar, areolar abnormalities separated by irregular walls without clear boundaries. Magnetic resonance imagery can reveal hydatic abcess presenting typical liquid abcess and locoregional extension. Laboratory methods are of little assistance to the diagnosis. Complete surgical excision of the lesions remains the only curative treatment, in the same way as for malignant tumors. Surgical eradication of hydatic lesions is difficult, however. Indeed, the surgeon is guided by the macroscopic aspect, but the bone may be infiltrated by microvesicles without clear boundaries. It is now recommended to accompany surgery by medical treatment based on albendazole. Rapid diagnosis and treatment of spinal hyatidosis may yield long-term remission or even cure, especially in localized forms.
