The purpose of our paper is to determine the conditions for the creation of an energy-efficient light source initiated by microwave radiation with stochastic jumping phase (MWRSJP).It is shown, to create an effective discharge, which initiated by means of radiation with a jumping along phase, expediently to operate only at pressures nearby to the left part of breakdown curve. Because at the increasing of pressure the losses of energy are increased on elastic and non-elastic collisions, that reduces efficiency of discharge. Authors measured a plasma density in low pressure discharge initiated by a microwave radiation with the jumps of phase with help developing the original technique of the use the double probes of Langmuir, separate source of direct-current, high-frequency transformers, digital oscilloscope and least-squares method for treatment of signals, using the special type of function of regression. Головною метою наших досліджень є визначення умов створення енергоефективного джерела світла, ініційованого мікрохвильовим випромінюванням зі стохастичними стрибками фази. Показано, що для створення ефективного розряду, ініційованого за допомогою випромінювання зі стрибками фази, доцільно працювати тільки при тисках поряд з лівою ділянкою кривої пробою. Тому що при зростанні тиску втрати енергії збільшуються на пружних та непружних зіткненнях, що знижує ефективність розряду. Автори виміряли густину плазми в умовах розряду низького тиску, ініційованого НВЧ-випромінюванням зі стрибками фази, за допомогою розробки оригінальної методики використання подвійних зондів Ленгмюра, автономного джерела постійного струму, високочастотних трансформаторів, цифрового осцилографа та методу найменших квадратів для обробки сигналів, застосовуючи спеціальний тип функції регресії. Главной целью наших исследований является определение условий для создания энергоэффективного источника света, инициируемого микроволновым излучением со стохастическими скачками фазы. Показано, что для создания эффективного разряда, инициированного с помощью излучения с прыжками фазы, целесообразно работать только при давлениях рядом с левой частью кривой пробоя. Потому что при возрастании давления потери энергии увеличиваются на упругих и неупругих столкновениях, что снижает эффективность разряда. Авторы измеряли плотность плазмы в условиях разряда низкого давления, инициированного СВЧ-излучением со скачками фазы, при помощи разработки оригинальной методики использования двойных зондов Ленгмюра, автономного источника постоянного тока, высокочастотных трансформаторов, цифрового осциллографа и метода наименьших квадратов для обработки сигналов, используя специальный тип функции регрессии.

The particle transport dynamics in the section of a linear induction accelerator (LIA) has been studied. The system and beams parameters (the magnetic field magnitude, the system dimensions, the beams parameters), which allowed compensating the ion beam in the entire LIA section are found. It is shown, that the high-current ion beam (HCIB) at the system output can be used in many technological applications. Досліджена динаміка транспортування часток у секції лінійного індукційного прискорювача (ЛІП). Знайдено параметри системи і пучків (величина магнітного поля, розміри системи), при яких здійснюється компенсація іонного пучка вздовж всієї секції ЛІП. Показано, що іонний пучок на виході з системи може бути використаний в багатьох технологічних додатках. Изучена динамика транспортировки частиц в секции линейного индукционного ускорителя (ЛИУ). Найдены параметры системы и пучков (величина магнитного поля, размеры системы), при которых осуществляется компенсация ионного пучка вдоль всей секции ЛИУ. Показано, что ионный пучок на выходе из системы может быть использован во многих технологических приложениях.

The particle in cell simulation results, within the limits of the complete set of the Maxwell-Vlasov equations, of the short (the ion bunch length is much smaller than the cusp length) and long (the ion bunch length is much longer than the cusp length) high-current compensated tubular ion bunches transportation and acceleration in the peaked fence magnetic field are presented. The ion bunch current, at injection in the cusp, is compensated by an accompanying electron bunch. Additional compensation of the ion bunch space charge by means of thermal electrons generated in the drift space has been studied. It is shown that both for short and for long ion bunches, the optimized additional space charge compensation by thermal electrons leads to a reduction of the energy spread of the accelerated ion beam at the output of the cusp. Приведены результаты численного моделирования методом макрочастиц в рамках полной системы уравнений Власова-Максвелла, транспортировки и ускорения коротких (длина ионного сгустка значительно меньше длины каспа) и длинных (длина ионного сгустка значительно больше длины каспа) сильноточных трубчатых ионных сгустков в магнитном поле остроугольной геометрии. Ток ионного сгустка при инжекции в касп скомпенсирован сопровождающим электронным сгустком. Изучена дополнительная компенсация объемного заряда ионного сгустка тепловыми электронами. Показано, что как в случае коротких, так и в случае длинных ионных сгустков оптимизированная дополнительная компенсация объемного заряда тепловыми электронами приводит к уменьшению энергетического разброса ускоряемого ионного пучка на выходе из каспа. Наведено результати числового моделювання методом макрочасток у рамках повної системи рівнянь Власова-Максвелла, транспортування та прискорення коротких (довжина іонного згустка значно менше довжини каспа) та довгих (довжина іонного згустка значно більша за довжину каспа) сильнострумових трубчастих іонних згустків у магнітному полі гострокутової геометрії. Струм іонного згустка при інжекції в касп, скомпенсовано електронним згустком. Досліджено додаткову компенсацію об'ємного заряду іонного згустка за допомогою теплових електронів. Показано, що як у випадку коротких, так і у випадку довгих іонних згустків додаткова оптимізована компенсація об'ємного заряду тепловими електронами призводить до зменшення енергетичного розкиду іонного пучка, який прискорюється на виході з каспа.

The results of experimental investigations of prototype of secondary emission radioisotope current source are presented. Novel physical idea of nuclear particle energy conversion into electricity by means of secondary ion induced electron emission underlies this autonomous power supply. As primary particles we used H+ ion beam from Van de Graff accelerator with megaelectronvolt energy. Some possible regimes of the prototype operation were studied. It was shown that load curve of the prototype had maximum. Output power up to 10 mWatt was obtained. It was experimentally shown realizability of the energy conversion idea. Представлено результати експериментальних досліджень прототипу вторинно-емісійного радіоізотопного джерела струму. Це автономне джерело живлення базується на новітній фізичній ідеї перетворення енергії ядерних частинок в електричну енергію за допомогою вторинної іонно-електронної емісії. За первинні частинки ми використовували пучок іонів H+ мегаелектронвольтних енергій, який було отримано на прискорювачі Ван де Граафа. Було вивчено кілька можливих режимів роботи прототипу. Показано, що навантажувальна крива прототипу має максимум. Отримано вихідну потужність до 10 мкВт. Експериментально показана здійснюваність ідеї перетворення енергії. Представлены результаты экспериментальных исследований прототипа вторично-эмиссионного радиоизотопного источника тока. Этот автономный источник питания основан на новой физической идее преобразования энергии ядерных частиц в электрическую энергию с помощью вторичной ионно-электронной эмисии. В качестве первичных частиц мы использовали пучок ионов H+ мегаэлектронвольтных энергий, который был получен на ускорителе Ван де Граафа. Было изучено несколько возможных режимов работы прототипа. Показано, что нагрузочная кривая прототипа имеет максимум. Получена выходная мощность до 10 мкВт. Экспериментально показана осуществимость идеи преобразования энергии.

Article is review of works on nonequilibrium electron distribution function formation at a presence of sources and sinks in momentum space. The analitical investigations and numerical simulation of the nonlineat collision integrals of Boltzmann and Landau-Fokker-Planck has been considered. The experimental study results of nonequilibrium electron distribution function formation in solid plasma at its irradiation by electromagnetic radiation or charged particles flows have been implemented. New type of radioisotope source of current based on others physical prince-ples was proposed. Огляд робіт по формуванню нерівноважних функцій розподілу електронів дії джерела та стоку у імпульсному просторі. Розглянуті як аналітичні дослідження, так і чисельне моделювання нелінійних інтегралів зіткнень Больцмана та Ландау-Фоккера–Планка. Наведені результати експериментальних досліджень формування нерівноважних функцій розподілу електронів у твердотільній плазмі при її опромінюванні потоками електромагнітного випромінювання або заряджених частинок. Описане оригінальне вторинно–емісійне радіоізотопне джерело струму, основане на нерівноважних розподілах електронів. Обзор работ по формированию неравновесных функций распределения электронов при наличии источника и стока в импульсном пространстве. Рассмотрены как аналитические исследования, так и численное моделирование нелинейных интегралов столкновений Больцмана и Ландау-Фоккера–Планка. Приведены результаты экспериментальных исследований формирования неравновесных функций распределения электронов в твердотельной плазме при облучении ее потоками электромагнитного излучения или заряженных частиц. Описан оригинальный вторично–эмиссионный радиоизотопный источник тока, основанный на неравновесных распределениях электронов.

Some properties of chorus radiation while magnetosphere substorm are discussed. The influence of the hydro magnetic waves on the electron distribution function is studied by numerical simulations. A quasi-linear 2D in velocity space operator models the electron damping of plasma eigenmodes. The dynamic of process is estimated under condition of varying in time of phase velocity and hence of phase resonance on the base of chorus radiation while substorms. This allows us to explain acceleration and heating of energetic electrons that double up energy during the stage of substorm. Обговорюються деякі властивості хорового випромінювання. Чисельними методами досліджується вплив магнітогідродинамічних хвиль на функцію розподілу електронів. Квазілінійний двовимірний у просторі швидкостей оператор моделює електронне затухання плазмових власних хвиль. Динаміка процесу описана в умовах, коли змінюється за часом фазова швидкість, а, тому, і фазовий резонанс, на основі хорового випромінювання під час суббурі. Це дозволило нам пояснити прискорення і нагрів енергетичних електронів, котрі подвоюють свою енергію під час стадії суббурі. Обсуждаются некоторые свойства хорового излучения. Численными методами исследуется влияние магнитогидродинамических волн на функцию распределения электронов. Квазилинейный двумерный в скоростном пространстве оператор моделирует электронное затухание плазменных собственных волн. Динамика процесса описана в условиях изменяющейся со временем фазовой скорости, а, следовательно, и фазового резонанса на основе хорового излучения во время суббури. Это позволило нам объяснить ускорение и нагрев энергетичных электронов, удваивающих свою энергию во время стадии суббури.

Nonlinear mechanism of Langmuir wave excitation in dense plasma by intensive laser pulse has been investigated. Laser pulse has frequency ω=ω p /2 (where ω p is electron plasma frequency). Досліджено нелінійний механізм збудження ленгмюровських хвиль у щільній плазмі інтенсивним лазерним імпульсом з частотою ω=ω p /2 (де ω p - електронна плазмова частота). Исследован нелинейный механизм возбуждения ленгмюровских волн в плотной плазме интенсивным лазерным импульсом c частотой ω=ω p /2 (где ω p - электронная плазменная частота).

A process of the high-current relativistic electron beam pinching propagating in plasma has been considered. A time of pinching of an electron - ion system has been defined. Maximum compression ratio, the ion density and temperature are found. Розглянуто процес пінчування релятивістського електронного пучка, що поширюється у плазмі. Визначено час пінчування електронно-іонної системи. Знайдені максимальна ступінь компресії, іонна густина та температура. Рассмотрен процесс пинчевания релятивистского электронного пучка, распространяющегося в плазме. Определено время пинчевания электронно-ионной системы. Найдены максимальная степень компрессии, ионные плотность и температура.

The formation of a non-equilibrium distribution function (DF) of particles with the power-law interaction potentials is studied. Consideration is based on the non-linear kinetic equation of a Landau - Fokker - Planck type in the presence of particle (energy) sources. We compared our results with experimental data. Досліджено формування нерівноважних функцій розподілу частинок зі степеневим законом взаємодії між ними. Розгляд основано на одновимірному нелінійному кінетичному рівнянні типу Ландау-Фокера-Планка за наявністю джерел частинок (енергії). Наведено порівняння з експериментом. Исследовано формирование неравновесных функций распределения частиц со степенным законом взаимодействия между ними. Рассмотрение основано на нелинейном кинетическом уравнении типа Ландау- Фоккера-Планка при наличии источников частиц (энергии). Проведено сравнение с экспериментом.

It is shown that the distribution function of secondary electrons of ion-induced emission from the front and back surfaces of thin Ag, Cu, Ni foils can be approximated by the power-law function with different power indices in the corresponding energy ranges. The increases of ion energy losses caused the power index to decrease in the first energy interval, while in the second energy interval the power index showed the trend to lessening.

The report is devoted to the theoretical study and numerical simulation of the excitation of wake-fields in plasma and their application for charged particle acceleration. It is shown that at a given relationship between the parameters of the "plasma bunch - magnetic field" system in the magnetoactive plasma owing to the hybrid space-surface character of wake-field waves excited by a relativistic electron bunch (REB), the accelerated bunch energy εmax can appear essentially higher than the exciting bunch energy even if the longitudinal REB charge density profiling is not used. With the help of 2.5 D numerical simulation of wake-fields excited by a single REB or a REB sequence it has been established the following: the ion channel is formed owing to transverse ion motion in self- consistent electromagnetic fields, this channel stabilizes REB propagation and thus serves to increase the REB excited fields; the self-modulation of a long pulsed REB is a very promising way both to obtain high rates of charged particle acceleration and to modulate the bunch and plasma densities (this gives evidence that the linear approach cannot be used to describe the plasma even in the low beam density case). These results make it possible to clarify the prospects and to evaluate the possibility of creating new-type charged particle accelerators which will have acceleration rates much higher than the conventional resonant accelerator has.

The research of inertial controlled fusion (ICF) on high-current heavy-ion beams is one of the main trends in ICF. Modern techniques of a heavy-ion beam production and acceleration make it possible to obtain high-current beams with high intensity using linear induction accelerators (linacs). ICF purposes require the increasing of the beam intensity and the beam brightness by several orders. The main process that restricts the high-current ion beam intensity is the beam spreading caused by the influence of self-fields of charged particle beam. Self-fields are several orders greater than the external fields used for beam control, acceleration and focusing. Under these conditions, it is impossible to obtain high-current heavy-ion beams of quality necessary for ICF without charge and current compensation of beams.

High-amplitude plasma wake-waves are excited by high-density relativistic electron bunches (REB) moving in a plasma. The wake- fields can be used to accelerate charged particles, to serve as electrostatic wigglers in freeelectron plasma lasers (FEL), and also can find many other applications. The electromagnetic fields in the region occupied by the bunch control the dynamics of the bunch itself. In particular, the transverse forces cause a strong compression (pinching) of bunches having small transverse dimensions (kprb << 1, where kp = ωp/c, ωp is the plasma frequency, c is the light velocity, and rb is the radius of the bunch). This phenomenon is at the basis of operation of plasma lenses that can be used to focus ultrahigh energy particles. The longitudinal fields give rise to longitudinal modulation of an electron bunch. Specifically, an originally uniform bunch evolves into individual microbunches. This paper presents the results of 2.5-dimensional numerical simulation of both the modulation of long REB in a plasma and the excitation of wake fields by these bunches. The previous one-dimensional study has shown that the density profile modulation of a long bunch moving in plasma results in the growth of the wake wave amplitude. This is explained by the fact that the wake fields generated by microbunches being due to the evolution of the initially uniform bunch during the modulation, are coherent. The bunch modulation occurs at the plasma frequency. The present study is concerned with the REB motion, taking into account the plasma and REB nonlinearities. It is demonstrated that the radial REB dynamics exerts primary effect on both the REB self-modulation and the wake field excitation by the bunches formed.

It is suggested that the high energy electrons produced in ionization due to the nuclear particle flow should be used for effective conversion the radioactive decay energy into electrical energy. The conversation of secondary electron emission energy enables one to create a power source with a typical voltage of (10-20) V and a capacity above 2000 KWt×h/kg, this being much higher than for common sources. Moreover, the operation of this type of sources does not require heating to high temperature and use of a refrigerator; this significantly extends their area of application. The experimental studies into secondary emission characteristics of various materials were carried out to optimize binary cell materials of a secondary - emission radioisotope current source. The total current as a function of collector materials was measured. New data on the secondary emission characteristics of certain materials were obtained. It was ascertained that the total binary cell current had an effect upon secondary electron - electron emission. By way of example, a typical power dependence of voltage was investigated for copper collector; the optimum voltage value corresponding to peak power was calculated too.

The aim of the study is to develop physical principles and methods of calculating efficient plasma-chemical reactors based on a sliding discharge at atmospheric pressure with pumping a gas mixture to decompose harmful compounds and to synthesize the compounds of use, and also to develop various ecologically clean processes. The necessity of wide-scale theoretical and experimental investigations, into the atmospheric-pressure gas discharge stems from: i) the importance for solving ecological and technological problems and ii) its inadequate study, as opposed to the case of discharges with tens of torrs, because of the difficulties of using the existing diagnostic facilities and even the methods of measurements at these parameters. Studies were made into gas-dynamic and electrodynamic characteristics of TSD-based plasma-chemical reactors at positive and negative polarities of supply voltage applied to the wire-like electrode and for different rates of air flow through the reactors at different pressures inside the plasma-chemical chamber. The studies were made to optimize the plasma-chemical reactor design and to investigate the influence of different polarities of supply voltage to the wire electrode on the performance of the devices under consideration. The electrodynamic SD characteristics were taken by the standard technique using standard instrumentation. The radiation spectra of high-pressure TSD were studied with an aid of the diffraction spectrograph DFS-452, the spectrograph SP 51, the diffraction monochromator MDR-12U and the photomultiplier tube PMT-39A in the 200 to 600 nm range.

We have been demonstrated that a multiple excess of the accelerated bunch energy εmax over the energy of the exciting. REB is possible in a magnetoactive plasma at a certain relationship between the parameters of the “plasmabunch-magnetic field” system owing to a hybrid volume-surface character of REB-excited wake fields, even without using the REBs contoured in the longitudinal direction.
