Dislocation of the elbow joint, which has not been treated for more than 3 weeks, is considered outdated. Due to the high risk of complications and the uncertainty of the effectiveness of the treatment of an old dislocation of the elbow joint, it is quite a difficult task for surgeons. There are various described techniques for repairing the lateral ligamentous complex (including the LUCL) and the medial collateral ligament. Objective. To describe the author's unique technique, which consists in using one graft to restore both lateral and medial ligaments. Methods. The personal experience of treating 14 patients with chronic dislocation of the elbow joint with deformation and multidirectional instability is presented. All patients were operated on by one surgeon using the arthrolysis method in combination with MCL, LUCL reconstruction using an ipsilateral autograft of the triceps tendinous fascia. Further observation was carried out at 3, 6 and 12 weeks, as well as at 6 and 9 months. In our case, we evaluated stability, range of motion, and the presence of pain syndrome. The results. Satisfactory results were obtained in terms of pain-free full range of motion and adequate stability of the elbow joint in all cases. All patients performed their active routine exercise with minimal limitation. Conclusions. The advantage of the technique is a unique comprehensive approach that uses one circular graft to restore both the lateral and medial ligament complexes, which ensures stability and possible early rehabilitation. Lumbar disc herniation is a common disease. There is severe pain in the buttock and leg, which may persist for more than 6 weeks even after conservative treatment. Currently, there are several surgical techniques for the treatment of lumbar disc herniation, ranging from laminectomy to microdiscectomy. The main advantages of endoscopic discectomy include: cosmetic appeal, minimally invasive nature, better visualization, shorter hospital stay and faster recovery. Objective. This article reviews discusses the management of patients with degenerative diseases of the lumbar spine by Destandau Endospine system. The authors shares his experience of the surgical technique and the results of percutaneous endoscopic discectomy using the Destandau system during the treatment of 51 patients with herniated disc and canal stenosis in the lumbar spine. The main advantages of the Destandau endoscopic system are a small skin incision and minimal damage to soft tissues. This is a minimally invasive intervention, which is applied through a skin incision 1.5–2 cm long. In order to ensure the accuracy and safety of the patient both before and during the operation, fluoroscopy is used. Under the control of an endoscope, the herniated intervertebral disc, free fragments of the disc are removed and the pinched nerve is released. Thus, rapid recovery is achieved during postoperative rehabilitation. Conclusions. The endoscopic system can be used to treat all types of intervertebral disc herniations and associated canal stenosis. It is a relatively safe procedure, provided proper preoperative planning and an experienced team of doctors. Most lumbar pathologies that are not related to instability can be successfully resolved with its help. The two main advantages of the Destandau endospinal system include minimally invasive surgery with minimal iatrogenic damage and excellent efficacy. Background: Cancer patients are more susceptible to psychological issues such as nervousness, traumatic stress, and depression because their vulnerability to stress increases after a cancer diagnosis. Multiple harmful effects of psychological strain on health outcomes are possible. Those who have undergone surgery for cancer are more at risk of cancer-related fatigue and psychological distress. Studies in Western countries have shown a 40–80% reduction in cancer-related distress if the patients are subjected to appropriate psycho-oncological interventions. Objectives: The aims of this study were to: 1) screen head and neck cancer patients for distress using a cancer-specific questionnaire; 2) test the association of cancer-related distress with socio-demographic and clinical characteristics of patients; and 3) evaluate the effect of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) on the distress level of head and neck cancer patients about to undergo surgery. Materials and methods: A pre-tested, semi-structured, self-administered 23-item Questionnaire on Stress in Cancer patients (QSC-R23) was used to measure the level of distress. Three sessions of CBT of one hour duration on every alternate day have been given to elicit the response. Categorical data were analyzed using the Chi-square test. Pre and post-scores were compared using a paired sample t-test. The correlation was done to compare continuous variables using Pearson’s correlation test. To determine how other related factors will affect the results, linear regression analysis was used. Results: The mean age of the 94 participants was 54.64 ± 10.97 years. The mean pre-score was 60.06 ± 20.42, and the post-score was 34.63 ± 5.3. There was a significant improvement in the post score (P-value = 0.0001) implying a reduction in stress among the study participants after the 3 sessions of CBT. Participants with middle/high monthly family income (P-value = 0.013, 95% CI= 0.639-17.418), no past medical history (P-value = 0.0001, 95% CI= 0.639-17.418), and no past psychiatric history (P-value = 0.008, 95% CI= 3.621-20.162) were statistically significantly affected by the difference in distress score. Conclusion: This study has successfully reported that CBT can reduce distress levels among cancer patients. Ocimum basilicum var. thyrsiflora is valuable for its medicinal properties. The barriers to the commercialization of essential oil are the lack of requisite high oil-containing genotypes and variations in the quantity and quality of essential oils in different geographic areas. Thai basil's essential oil content is significantly influenced by soil and environmental factors. To optimize and predict the essential oil yield of Thai basil in various agroclimatic regions, the current study was conducted. The 93 datasets used to construct the model were collected from samples taken across 10 different agroclimatic regions of Odisha. Climate variables, soil parameters, and oil content were used to train the Artificial Neural Network (ANN) model. The outcome showed that a multilayer feed-forward neural network with an R squared value of 0.95 was the most suitable model. To understand how the variables interact and to determine the optimum value of each variable for the greatest response, the response surface curves were plotted. Garson's algorithm was used to discover the influential predictors. Soil potassium content was found to have a very strong influence on responses, followed by maximum relative humidity and average rainfall, respectively. The study reveals that by adjusting the changeable parameters for high commercial significance, the ANN-based prediction model with the response surface methodology technique is a new and promising way to estimate the oil yield at a new site and maximize the essential oil yield at a particular region.
