This paper presents a simplified numerical simulation tool for the elasto-plastic calculation of plane articulated truss by the finite element method (FEM) in MATLAB. The simplified approach consists of linearizing isotropic strain-hardening (to obtain a bilinear material law). The numerical implementation is built on the basis of the incremental and iterative FEM algorithms. The numerical resolution technique used is based on the projection methods of the modified Newton-Raphson solution. The MATLAB program is developed for the application of a 3-bar truss under monotonous quasi-static loading. Different values of the approximation error of the convergence criterion are used to study its impact on the quality of the algorithm. Numerical simulations have shown the reliability and quality of our simplified approach regardless of the approximation error.

Zero CO2 and Zero heat pollution compressed air engine for the urban transport sector is an engine design that is powered and lubricated solely by compressed air. In other to guarantee these functionalities for the engine design, its modeling was done following the mechanical engineering design method. This article highlights the creation of a mathematical model of the engine. This work covers the design synthesis and the analysis of the kinematics of the engine. For the design synthesis; FAST, GRAFCET and later one realization of conceptual sketches all deductions from the problem definition. With the sketches considered, the kinematics and dynamic formulations where later on realized. The design chosen highlight’s the external forces to come principally from an isothermal expansion process of the compressed air what is termed the expansion chamber of the engine. The analysis was done on the kinematics of the engine with considerations of some assumptions. This article ends with remarkable results as it concerns the engine’s simplicity and guaranteed high efficiency. These conclusions were drawn from the compact nature of the design, the low part count and the reduced displaceable masses which give little of no conflicting movements in the engine design.

This paper is dedicated to the implementation of a law of mechanical behavior in the finite element software Cast3M using an open source code generator named Mfront. To do so, an elastoplastic behaviour model has been chosen from existing laws in the literature. Following an implicit discretization, a hardware library corresponding to the isotropic and kinematic strain-hardening model is generated using Mfront. The UMAT computer interface is used to build the library in Cast3M. A validation of the approach has been carried out by comparing the numerical results obtained with the generated hardware library and the equivalent pre-existing library in Cast3M. Simulations in the case of a tensile bar and a perforated plate show almost identical results, Ce papier est dédié à l’implantation d’une loi de comportement mécanique dans le logiciel éléments finis Cast3M à l’aide d’un générateur de code open source nommé Mfront.
