RNA-seq data of 17 CRGs were examined, and univariate Cox regression identified prognostic CRGs. A cuproptosis-related network was constructed to show interactions between CRGs. Consensus clustering classified ACC into three subtypes, with transcriptional and survival differences assessed by PCA and survival analysis. Gene set variation analysis (GSVA) and ssGSEA evaluated functional and immune infiltration characteristics across subtypes. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified, and gene clusters were established. A risk score (CRG_score) was generated using LASSO and multivariate Cox regression, validated across datasets. Tumor microenvironment, stem cell index, mutation status, drug sensitivity, and hormone synthesis were examined in relation to the CRG_score. Protein expression of key genes was validated, and functional studies on ASF1B and NDRG4 were performed.Results: Three ACC subtypes were identified with distinct survival outcomes. Subtype B showed the worst prognosis, while subtype C had the best. We identified 214 DEGs linked to cell proliferation and classified patients into three gene clusters, confirming their prognostic value. The CRG_score predicted patient outcomes, with high-risk patients demonstrating worse survival and possible resistance to immunotherapy. Drug sensitivity analysis suggested higher responsiveness to doxorubicin and etoposide in high-risk patients.Conclusion: This study suggests the potential prognostic value of CRGs in ACC. Abstract

This White Paper presents the community inputs and scientific conclusions from the Hot and Cold QCD Town Meeting that took place September 23-25, 2022 at MIT, as part of the Nuclear Science Advisory Committee (NSAC) 2023 Long Range Planning process. A total of 424 physicists registered for the meeting. The meeting highlighted progress in Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) nuclear physics since the 2015 LRP (LRP15) and identified key questions and plausible paths to obtaining answers to those questions, defining priorities for our research over the coming decade. In defining the priority of outstanding physics opportunities for the future, both prospects for the short (~ 5 years) and longer term (5-10 years and beyond) are identified together with the facilities, personnel and other resources needed to maximize the discovery potential and maintain United States leadership in QCD physics worldwide. This White Paper is organized as follows: In the Executive Summary, we detail the Recommendations and Initiatives that were presented and discussed at the Town Meeting, and their supporting rationales. Section 2 highlights major progress and accomplishments of the past seven years. It is followed, in Section 3, by an overview of the physics opportunities for the immediate future, and in relation with the next QCD frontier: the EIC. Section 4 provides an overview of the physics motivations and goals associated with the EIC. Section 5 is devoted to the workforce development and support of diversity, equity and inclusion. This is followed by a dedicated section on computing in Section 6. High luminosity operation is generally desirable, as it enables producing and harvesting scientific results in a shorter time period. It becomes crucial for programs that would require many months or even years of operation at lower luminosity.

Abstract

Electron Ion Collider (EIC) is a particle accelerator facility planned for construction at Brookhaven National Laboratory on Long Island, New York by the United States Department of Energy. EIC will provide capabilities of colliding beams of polarized electrons with polarized beams of proton and light ions. EIC will be one of the largest and most sophisticated new accelerator facilities worldwide, and the only new large-scale accelerator facility planned for construction in the United States in the next few decades. The versatility, resolving power and intensity of EIC will present many new opportunities to address some of the crucial and fundamental open scientific questions in particle physics. 6. The Public’s Self-Avoidance and Other-Reliance in the Reporting of Medical Insurance Fraud: A Cross-Sectional Survey in China

Descriptive statistical analyses and multinomial logistic regression were used to analyze the different subjective attitudes of the public toward different subjects when faced with medical insurance fraud and the influencing factors.Results: 511 (60.40%) respondents were willing to report medical insurance fraud, while 739 (87.35%) respondents expected others to report it. 485 (57.33%) respondents were willing and expected others to report medical insurance fraud, followed by those who were not willing but expected others to report it (254, 30.02%). Compared to those who were unwilling to report themselves and did not want others to report, those who believe their reporting is useless (OR=3.13, 95% CI=1.15– 8.33) and those who fear for their safety after reporting (OR=2.96, 95% CI=1.66– 5.26) were more likely to expect others to report. Self-reporting willingness was stronger among the public who were satisfied with the government’s protective measures for the safety of whistleblowers (OR=4.43, 95% CI=1.38– 14.17). The public who believe that both themselves and others have responsibilities to report medical insurance fraud were willing to report and expect others to do the same.Conclusion: The public had a “self-avoidance” and “other-reliance” mentality in medical insurance anti-fraud. The free-rider mentality, lack of empathy, concerns about own risk after reporting, and the interference of decentralized responsibility were important factors contributing to this public mentality. At this stage, the government should prevent the public’s “collective indifference” in medical insurance anti-fraud efforts. Improving the safety and protection of whistleblowers and making everyone feel more responsible and valued may be effective incentives to enhance the public’s willingness to report.Keywords: medical insurance, anti-fraud, whistleblower, subjective attitudes

Abstract

This report describes the physics case, the resulting detector requirements, and the evolving detector concepts for the experimental program at the Electron-Ion Collider (EIC). The EIC will be a powerful new high-luminosity facility in the United States with the capability to collide high-energy electron beams with high-energy proton and ion beams, providing access to those regions in the nucleon and nuclei where their structure is dominated by gluons. Moreover, polarized beams in the EIC will give unprecedented access to the spatial and spin structure of the proton, neutron, and light ions. The studies leading to this document were commissioned and organized by the EIC User Group with the objective of advancing the state and detail of the physics program and developing detector concepts that meet the emerging requirements in preparation for the realization of the EIC. The effort aims to provide the basis for further development of concepts for experimental equipment best suited for the science needs, including the importance of two complementary detectors and interaction regions. This report consists of three volumes. Volume I is an executive summary of our findings and developed concepts. In Volume II we describe studies of a wide range of physics measurements and the emerging requirements on detector acceptance and performance. Volume III discusses general-purpose detector concepts and the underlying technologies to meet the physics requirements. Abstract

Many solid-state devices, especially those requiring anion conduction, often add a supporting electrolyte to enable efficient operation. The prototypical case is that of anion-exchange-membrane water electrolyzers (AEMWEs), where addition of an alkali metal solution improves performance. However, the specific mechanism of this performance improvement is currently unknown. This work investigates the functionality of the alkali metal solution in AEMWEs using experiments and mathematical models. The results show that additional hydroxide plays a key role not only in ohmic resistance of the membrane and catalyst layer but also in the reaction kinetics. The modeling suggests that the added liquid electrolyte creates an additional electrochemical interface with the electrocatalyst that provides ion-transport pathways and distributes product gas bubbles; the total effective electrochemical active surface area in the cell with 1 M KOH is 5 times higher than that of the cell with DI water. In the cell with 1 M KOH, more than 80% of the reaction current is associate with the liquid electrolyte. These results indicate the importance of high pH of electrolyte and catalyst/electrolyte interface in AEMWEs. The understanding of the functionality of the alkali metal solution presented in this study should help guide the design and optimization of AEMWEs.

This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic performance of metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGS) in detecting IAI in the emergency department.Patients and Methods: This was a retrospective, single-centered study including patients admitted to the emergency department from January 1st, 2021 to August 31st, 2022 with diagnosis of IAI. The comparison between mNGS and microbial culture using paracentesis fluid samples was performed to evaluate the diagnostic performance of mNGS for IAI. Meanwhile, paracentesis fluid and peripheral blood mNGS were compared to explore the sample specificity. Further, the microbial community structure of the patients with pyogenic liver abscesses (PLA) was analyzed.Results: Thirty-four IAI patients including 23 with pyogenic liver abscesses (PLA), 3 with parapancreatic abscesses, and 8 with other IAI were included in this study. Compared with the conventional microbial culture of paracentesis fluid, mNGS using paracentesis fluid detected more positive cases of IAI (93.75% vs 81.25%), and identified more species of pathogens, especially in obligate anaerobes and viral pathogens. Peripheral blood mNGS presented a relatively high consistency with the paracentesis fluid mNGS (91% mutual positive). The microbial community structure of PLA patients with diabetes is less diverse than that of those without diabetes. Patients with diabetes are at high risk of PLA caused by Klebsiella pneumonia.Conclusion: mNGS has advantages in detecting IAI in the emergency department, and peripheral blood mNGS can be a non-invasive choice for early diagnosis.Keywords: metagenomic next-generation sequencing, mNGS, abdominal infection, pyogenic liver abscesses, PLA, emergency department

This study takes two scenarios of whether medical insurance fraud results in a direct loss of personal benefit and explores the differences in individuals’ willingness to report and influencing factors in the two scenarios.Methods: In this study, questionnaires were used and participants were selected from 571 individuals in eastern, central, and western China. Analysis was performed using descriptive statistics and logistic regression models.Results: 51.0% of individuals were willing to report when no direct loss of personal benefit was caused, and conversely, 78.3% of individuals were willing to report when direct loss of personal benefit was caused. The factors influencing the attitude dimension of individuals toward whistleblowing behavior were consistent in the two scenarios. In contrast, there were significant differences among the influences in the perceived behavioral control, consequence perception, and subjective norm dimensions.Conclusion: There were significant differences in the willingness of individuals to report medical insurance fraud and the factors influencing it in both scenarios. The most significantly influencing factor difference was perceived behavioral control, a dimension that had an effect only when it did not result in a direct loss of personal benefit. When an individual’s direct interests are at stake, the individual’s fear for his or her safety is not a deterrent to his or her willingness to report. And when there is no loss of direct personal benefit, individuals care more about government measures to protect whistleblowers. There are differences in the subjects that influence individuals’ willingness to report in the two scenarios. The factors influencing the attitude dimension are the same in both scenarios, and the more supportive the attitude toward the whistleblower, the stronger the individual’s willingness to report will be.Keywords: whistleblowing willingness, loss of direct benefits, medical insurance fraud, individual

Univariate analysis was performed to compare differences in demographics and CT features between the two groups, and multivariate logistic regression analysis was performed to determine primary influencing factors of solitary nodular IMA. A risk score prediction model was established based on the regression coefficients of these factors, and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was performed to evaluate the predictive performance of the model.Results: Univariate analysis showed that age, nodule type, maximum nodule diameter, tumor lung interface, lobulation, spiculation, air bronchogram or vacuolar signs, and abnormal vascular changes differed significantly between the two groups (p < 0.05). Compared to INMA, spiculation of IMA was relatively longer and softer. Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that nodule type, indistinct tumor lung interface, air bronchogram or vacuolar signs, and abnormal vascular changes were the primary influencing factors. A prediction model based on the regression coefficients of these factors was established. ROC curve analysis indicated that the area under the curve was 0.882 (p < 0.05).Conclusion: Compared to INMA, solitary peripheral stage IA nodular IMA were more common in older patients; they more frequently had indistinct tumor lung interface and air bronchogram or vacuolar signs on CT; spiculation was relatively longer and softer; our risk score prediction model based on nodule type, tumor lung interface, air bronchogram or vacuolar signs, and abnormal vascular changes was established with good predictive efficacy for solitary nodular IMA.Keywords: invasive mucinous adenocarcinoma of the lung, influencing factors, risk score modeling

Herein, a multifunctional theranostic nanoparticle was fabricated to enhance tumor targeted imaging and promote focused ultrasound (FUS) ablation and chemotherapy and sonodynamic therapy (SDT). A multi-modal synergistic therapy can improve the therapeutic efficacy and prognosis of TNBC.Methods: AS1411 aptamer modified PEG@PLGA nanoparticles encapsulated with perfluorohexane (PFH) and anti-cancer drug doxorubicin (DOX) were constructed (AS1411-DOX/PFH-PEG@PLGA) to enhance tumor targeted imaging to guide ablation and synergistic effect of FUS/chemotherapy. FUS was utilized to trigger the co-release of doxorubicin and simultaneously PFH phase transition and activate DOX for SDT effect. The physicochemical, phase-changeable imaging capability, biosafety of nanoparticles and multi-mode synergistic effects on growth of TNBC were thoroughly evaluated in vivo and in vitro.Results: The synthesized AS1411-DOX/PFH-PEG@PLGA (A-DPPs) nanoparticles are uniformly round with an average diameter of 306.03 ± 5.35 nm and the zeta potential of − 4.05 ± 0.13 mV, displaying high biosafety and FUS-responsive drug release in vitro and in vivo. AS1411 modified NPs specifically bind to 4T1 cells and elevate the ultrasound contrast agent (UCA) image contrast intensity via PFH phase-transition after FUS exposure. Moreover, the combined treatment of A-DPPs nanoparticles with FUS exhibited significantly higher apoptosis rate, stronger inhibitory effect on 4T1 cell invasion in vitro, induced more reactive oxygen species (ROS), and enhanced anti-tumor effect compared to a single therapy (p < 0.05). Additionally, the joint strategy resulted in more intense cavitation effect and larger ablated areas and reduced energy efficiency factor (EEF) both in vitro and in vivo.Conclusion: The multifunctional AS1411-DOX/PFH-PEG@PLGA nanoparticles can perform as a marvelous synergistic agent for enhanced FUS/chemotherapy, promote real-time contrast enhanced US imaging and improve the therapeutic efficacy and prognosis of TNBC.Keywords: focused ultrasound, multifunctional nanoparticle, synergistic therapy, phase transformation, acoustic cavitation, breast cancer

All 20 patients with HSOS had manifestations of ascites and heterogeneous hypoattenuation on CT, including 18 cases (90%) with heterogeneous enhancement (characteristic map-like enhancement), 17 (85%) with hepatomegaly, 18 (90%) with gallbladder wall oedema, and 16 (80%) with stenosis of main hepatic veins and characteristic “clover-like” enhancement at the second porta hepatis.Conclusion: Both HSOS and BCS are post-sinusoidal portal hypertension, but have different etiologies and durations. Although they both cause liver congestion, the clinical manifestation of HSOS is acute liver injury. The CT manifestations are characterized by ascites, map-like enhancement and heterogeneous hypoattenuation of the liver parenchyma, and stenosis of the main hepatic veins. Abstract

Predictions for cold nuclear matter effects on charged hadrons, identified light hadrons, quarkonium and heavy flavor hadrons, Drell-Yan dileptons, jets, photons, gauge bosons and top quarks produced in $p+$Pb collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{NN}}} = 8.16$ TeV are compiled and, where possible, compared to each other. Predictions of the normalized ratios of $p+$Pb to $p+p$ cross sections are also presented for most of the observables, providing new insights into the expected role of cold nuclear matter effects. However, not all AR patients respond to AIT, and early prediction of patient response is extremely important. This study aimed to example serum levels of multiple cytokines in AR and explore their association with the efficacy of AIT.Methods: A total of 74 AR patients treated with sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT) were prospectively recruited. Serum samples were obtained before the onset of SLIT and cytokine levels detected by multiplex analysis. All patients were followed for > 1 year, and associations between cytokine levels and the early efficacy of SLIT were evaluated. Significantly distinctive cytokines were further verified in another independent cohort.Results: Sixty patients completed the visit schedule set: 35 patients were put into a responder group and 25 a nonresponder group. Multiple-cytokine profiling showed that cytokine levels differed significantly between the two groups. The responder group had higher concentrations of BAFF and CCL11 and lower levels of CCL2, CCL7, IFNγ, IL8, IL10, IL16, and IL33 than the nonresponder group (P< 0.05). Receiver-operating characteristic curves highlighted that serum BAFF, IFNγ, IL10, and IL33 levels were strongly predictive of the efficacy of SLIT (area under the curve < 0.7, P< 0.05). Serum IL10 and IL33 were overexpressed in nonresponders in the validation cohort. Patients in the responder group exhibited significantly higher IL10 levels and lower IL33 post-SLIT than pre-SLIT (P< 0.05), but no statistical difference was found in nonresponders (P< 0.05).Conclusion: Our data indicated that serum multiple-cytokine profiling was associated with response to SLIT and that IL10 and IL33 might serve as novel biomarkers for early prediction of efficacy and be involved in the therapeutic mechanisms of SLIT in AR patients.Keywords: allergic rhinitis, sublingual immunotherapy, multiple cytokines, efficacy

Patients were divided into a control group (febuxostat treatment alone) or a combined group (febuxostat combined with arthroscopic surgery). We recorded and analyzed clinical data including age, sex, body mass index, comorbidities, lesion affected joints, acute flare times, medications history, febuxostat side effects, arthroscopic complications, and serum creatinine and uric acid levels changes.Results: There were 80 patients in the control group and 93 patients in the combined group. At the beginning of treatment, the combined group had significantly higher disease severity (higher serum uric acid levels and more acute gout flare times). Arthroscopy was performed in 61 knees and 38 ankles, and 86 joints showed crystals deposition. Compared with baseline, follow-up results showed that serum creatinine significantly decreased in the combined group, and serum uric acid and acute gout flare times significantly decreased in both groups (all p < 0.05). In the comparison between the two groups at the follow-up endpoint, acute gout flare times did not differ significantly (p > 0.05), however, serum creatinine and uric acid levels were lower in the combined group compared with those in the control group (ps < 0.05).Conclusion: Febuxostat combined with arthroscopic debridement of monosodium urate crystal deposition or tophi had a superior effect on lowering uric acid levels and acute flare times in gout patients than did febuxostat alone.Keywords: arthroscopy, febuxostat, crystal deposition, tophi, gout

Suboptimal management of diabetic patients may incur serious complications, even death. The quality of post-hospital care has a good relationship with community pharmacists. However, data describing the current situation from care between community pharmacists and patients in China are lacking. Our article is to investigate community pharmacists’ activities, evaluate their attitudes towards providing diabetes care, assess their understandings, and identify perceived barriers.Methods: A survey divided into four parts was carried out randomly in China. The part of basic characteristics, understandings, and pharmacists’ perceived barriers was rated with a few listed choices scales, while the Likert scale was used to identify on the part of attitudes. Quantitative data were shown in frequency and valid percent. One-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) and non-parametric test conducted on data. A P-value ≤ 0.05 was considered statistically significant.Results: A total of 737 surveys were collected. The respondent pharmacists maintained a simply moderate understanding of diabetes care and the pharmaceutical services provided met basic needs rather than clinical ones, though they showed a good momentum towards providing better service. The respondent pharmacists considered patients lacking knowledge on self-management, shortage of funds as the main barriers.Conclusion: Efforts are supposed to make to expand pharmacists’ scope of practice, lessen patients’ reluctance, and create platforms for pharmacists receiving further education.Keywords: diabetes, community pharmacy, general practice, attitudes, barriers

All patients underwent preoperative T2-weighted imaging (T2WI) on a 3.0T MR scanner. All testicular lesions were manually segmented on axial T2WI, and histogram and Ipris features were extracted. Thirty enrolled patients were randomly selected to estimate the robustness of the features. We used intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs) to evaluate intra- and interobserver agreement of features, independent t-test or Mann–Whitney U-test to compare features between benign and malignant lesions, and receiver operating characteristic curve analysis to evaluate the diagnostic performance of features.Results: Eighteen histogram features and forty-eight Ipris features were extracted from T2WI of each lesion. Most (60/66) histogram and Ipris features had good robustness (ICC of both intra- and interobserver variabilities > 0.6). Three histogram and nine Ipris features were significantly different between the benign and malignant groups. The area under the curve values for Energy, TotalEnergy, and Ipris_shell1_id_std were 0.807, 0.808, and 0.708, respectively, which were relatively higher than those of other features.Conclusion: Ipris features may be useful for identifying benign and malignant testicular tumors but have no significant advantage over conventional histogram features.Keywords: magnetic resonance imaging, testicular disease, Ipris, texture analysis

Abstract

This report is based on a ten-week program on "Gluons and the quark sea at high-energies", which took place at the Institute for Nuclear Theory in Seattle in Fall 2010. The principal aim of the program was to develop and sharpen the science case for an Electron-Ion Collider (EIC), a facility that will be able to collide electrons and positrons with polarized protons and with light to heavy nuclei at high energies, offering unprecedented possibilities for in-depth studies of quantum chromodynamics. This report is organized around four major themes: i) the spin and flavor structure of the proton, ii) three-dimensional structure of nucleons and nuclei in momentum and configuration space, iii) QCD matter in nuclei, and iv) Electroweak physics and the search for physics beyond the Standard Model. Abstract

We present a summary of a recent workshop held at Duke University on Partonic Transverse Momentum in Hadrons: Quark Spin-Orbit Correlations and Quark-Gluon Interactions. The transverse momentum dependent parton distribution functions (TMDs), parton-to-hadron fragmentation functions, and multi-parton correlation functions, were discussed extensively at the Duke workshop. In this paper, we summarize first the theoretical issues concerning the study of partonic structure of hadrons at a future electron-ion collider (EIC) with emphasis on the TMDs. We then present simulation results on experimental studies of TMDs through measurements of single spin asymmetries (SSA) from semi-inclusive deep-inelastic scattering (SIDIS) processes with an EIC, and discuss the requirement of the detector for SIDIS measurements. The dynamics of parton correlations in the nucleon is further explored via a study of SSA in D (`D) production at large transverse momenta with the aim of accessing the unexplored tri-gluon correlation functions. The workshop participants identified the SSA measurements in SIDIS as a golden program to study TMDs in both the sea and valence quark regions and to study the role of gluons, with the Sivers asymmetry measurements as examples. Abstract

Many techniques exist to reconstruct New Physics masses from LHC data, though these tend to either require high luminosity O(100) fb^-1, or an accurate measurement of missing transverse energy (MET) which may not be available in the early running of the LHC. Since in popular models such as SUSY a fairly sharp, triangular dilepton invariant mass spectrum can emerge already at low luminosity O(1) fb^-1, a Decay Kinematics (DK) technique can be used on events near the dilepton mass endpoint to estimate squark, slepton, and neutralino masses without relying on MET. With the first 2 fb^-1 of 7 TeV LHC data SPS1a masses can thus be found to 20% or better accuracy, at least several times better than what has been taken to be achievable., Comment: 4 pages, 3 figures

Meng Yue, Shiquan Li, Guoqiang Yan, Chenyao Li, Zhenhua Kang Department of Surgery, First Hospital, JiLin University, Changchun, Jilin, People’s Republic of China Purpose: This study aimed to evaluate the short- and long-term outcomes of laparoscopic hepatectomy (LH) for colorectal liver metastases (CRLM) in elderly patients.Patients and methods: Between January 2009 and January 2016, LH was performed for 241 consecutive patients who were ≥60 years old and had CRLM. Based on their age at the LH, the patients were divided into an elderly group (≥70 years old, 78 patients) and a middle-aged group (60–69 years old, 163 patients). The short- and long-term outcomes were compared between the two groups.Results: Compared to the middle-aged group, the elderly group had higher values for Charlson comorbidity index, proportion of preoperative chemotherapy, and American Society of Anesthesiologists score. No other significant differences were observed in the preoperative characteristics. The elderly group had a higher conversion rate, compared to the middle-aged group, although no significant differences were observed in the surgical procedures, surgical times, intraoperative blood losses, numbers and severities of postoperative 90-day complications, postoperative 90-day mortality rates, pathology results, and other short-term outcomes. Long-term follow-up revealed similar rates of recurrence, disease-free survival, and overall survival in the two groups. Multivariable analysis revealed that age did not independently predict overall survival or disease-free survival.Conclusion: Similar short- and long-term outcomes were observed after LH for CRLM in elderly and middle-aged patients. Sensing the cloud movement information has always been a difficult problem in photovoltaic (PV) prediction. The information used by current PV prediction methods makes it challenging to accurately perceive cloud movements. The obstruction of the sun by clouds will lead to a significant decrease in actual PV power generation. The PV prediction network model cannot respond in time, resulting in a significant decrease in prediction accuracy. In order to overcome this problem, this paper develops a visual transformer model for PV prediction, in which the target PV sensor information and the surrounding PV sensor auxiliary information are used as input data. By using the auxiliary information of the surrounding PV sensors and the spatial location information, our model can sense the movement of the cloud in advance. The experimental results confirm the effectiveness and superiority of our model.

47. Design of hierarchical microstructures with isotropic elastic stiffness

Abstract

Elastic stiffness is one of the most fundamental properties of materials. Design of the microstructures with isotropic stiffness has been an attractive area in the field of metamaterials for over three decades. Despite many classes of isotropic microstructures, exploring novel isotropic microstructures based on innovative mechanics principles has attracted great and continuing interests. This paper presents a novel family of isotropic hierarchical microstructures (Iso-HMs). These hierarchical microstructures are modeled by replacing the solid parts of prescribed single-level microstructures with arrayed microstructures in the second level, where the key task is to identify the correct geometries of the second-level microstructures by conducting parameter space exploring. These Iso-HMs realize isotropic stiffness based on synergistic deformations of the members in the two levels, which is essentially different from existing isotropic microstructures replying on deformations of the members in a single level. Two categories of Iso-HMs with rectangular holes and Vidergauze-type struts are designed. Considering the large size difference in the designed Iso-HMs, additive manufacturing becomes a unique technique for manufacturing the designed Iso-HMs, where the size ratio between the 3D-printed specimens and the minimal features reaches 400:1. Both numerical and experimental results validate the isotropic stiffness of the designed Iso-HMs. Furthermore, the results of a microstructural instability analysis show that the designed Iso-HMs can gain improved buckling strength up to a hundred times higher than their single-level counterparts. The hierarchical design provides a new way to identify novel functional microstructures for applications, and the hierarchical configurations expand the space of the already-known families of isotropic microstructures.

A precisely determined Geocenter motion contributes to the realization of the origin of reference frame. On the other hand, A precisely defined and accurate reference frame improvesthe understanding Geocenter motion. We can determine Geocenter motion from the GPS data of Low-Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites. We can also estimate the motion from the Satellite Laser Ranging (SLR) data. The separate Geocenter motion solutions from LEO GPS or SLR data have been studied. The solutions have good agreements. If the solutions came from LEO GPS and SLR data, what are the differences and impacts? Based on this motivation, we investigate the Geocenter motion determination from the combination of the GPS and SLR data. 50. 1 mm-acurate local survey ties over kilometer baselines at McDonald Geodetic Observatory

Abstract

The goal for the next generation of terrestrial reference frames (TRF) is to achieve a 1mm and 0.1mm/yr accurate frame realization through the combination of reference station solutions by multi-technique geodetic observatories (GOs), quality benchmarks which are motivated by the user needs from commercial and scientific disciplines that rely on high precision positioning and spatial referencing. A potentially significant source of error in TRF realizations is the inter-system ties between the instruments at multi-technique stations, usually independently measured through ground-based local surveys. In this work, a successful endeavor to satisfy the tie accuracy goals while exceeding the 200m GGOS baseline guidelines is detailed for the McDonald Geodetic Observatory (MGO), located in the Davis Mountains, Texas, USA.MGO consists of a VLBI Geodetic Observing System (VGOS), infrastructure in place for a Space Geodesy Satellite Laser Ranging (SGSLR) telescope, and several GNSS stations spanning a 900m baseline and a 120m elevation change. The results of the local ties between the GNSS stations across the near-kilometer baseline, as measured between their antenna reference points, show sub-mm precision and 1mm accuracy. These results are validated through day to day repeatability across several metrology surveys conducted in 2021 and sub-mm consistency in direct comparisons with baselines derived from GPS monthly averaged solutions. This presentation will report these results, highlighting the novel designs and techniques employed in the procedure, processing, and error-budget analysis. We present framework for assessment of sensitivities of future TRF realizations to ingesting ties of this quality, and present preliminary results., The 28th IUGG General Assembly (IUGG2023) (Berlin 2023)
