To study the response of maize hybrids to organic manure and micronutrients NPs application. In this regard, two field experiments were conducted at the Experimental Farm, Faculty of Agriculture (Saba Basha), Alexandria University during 2018 and 2019 seasons at factorial experiments (two factors) in a split-plot system in three replicates. Where, the main plots allocated by farmyard manure rates (0, 10, 20 m3), while, the sub-main plots assigned with nano- practices of micronutrients (NPs) (spray water (control), nano- Fe, nano-Zn, nano- Mn, nano- Fe + Mn, nano-Fe + Zn and Fe + Zn + Mn) in both seasons. The results revealed that ear length (cm), number of rows/ear, number of grains/row, number of grains/ear, 100-grains weight (g), grain yield (t/fed), straw yield, biological yield (t/fed), harvest index (%) and grain protein content (%) of maize hybrid were, significantly, affected by organic manure and micronutrients NPs application, where soil application of sheep manure at the rate of 20 m3/fed with foliar application of combination between nano- Fe + nano- Zn + nano- Mn increased yield and its components of maize hybrid 'TWC1100' under the conditions of Alexandria, Egypt. The northwestern coast of Egypt is one of the most important grazing areas in the country, with a natural rangelands area of about 2.3 million hectares. Rangelands in this area have been facing overgrazing and mismanagement for years, so rehabilitation and restoration approaches are urgently needed for the sustainable development of these rangelands. Hence, this research was conducted at Wadi El-Washka, El- Kaser Region, Northwestern Coast, Marsa Matrouh Governorate, Egypt, in 2017 and 2018 growing seasons to study the effect of compost manure rates on the growth parameters of three forages shrubs species. The experimental design of the experiment was split-plot design with four replications. The main plots included the three shrubs species (Medicago arborea, Periploca angustipholia, and Atriplex nummularia), while compost rates (0, 5, and 10 t/fed) in the subplot. The results concluded that the different shrubs significantly differed under increasing the rate of compost manure. In this respect fertilizing Atriplex nummularia by addition compost at the rate of 10 t/fed as organic manure increased all growth characters including, shrub height of 119.40 and 126.08 cm, number of branches/plants of 11.08 and 11.73 branches, crown coverage of 0.929 and 0.506 m2 and crown volume of 0.363 and 0.260 m3 in spring and autumn growing seasons of 2017 and 2018, respectively under study conditions at northwestern coast of Marsa Matrouh Governorate, Egypt. To investigate the response of maize hybrids to plant population and nitrogen fertilization rates. Two field experiments were conducted at the Experimental Farm, Faculty of Agriculture (Saba Basha), Alexandria University during 2018 and 2019 seasons. Factorial experiments (two factors) in randomized complete block design (RCBD). Whereas, the first factor was plant population (50000, 75000, 100000 plant/ha), while, the second factor was nitrogen fertilization rates (216, 288, 360, and 432 kg N/ha). The results revealed that ear length (cm), number of rows/ear, number of grains/row, number of grains/ear, 100-grains weight (g), grain yield (t/ha), straw yield, biological yield (t/ha), harvest index (%) and grain protein content (%) of maize hybrid were, significantly, affected by plant population and nitrogen fertilizer rates, where the highest grain yield was obtained by growing maize plant hybrid 3444 at a population of 75000 plant/ha under the application of 360 kg N/ha under the environmental conditions of Alexandria, Egypt. Two field experiments were conducted at the Rosetta region, El_Behira Governorate, Egypt, during 2017/2018 and 2018/2019 growing seasons to study the effect of water quality, fulvic acid and seaweed extracts on the yield, its components and quality characters of wheat plant (Giza 168), in split-split plot design with three replications. The main plots included irrigation water quality (Nile water and Agricultural drainage water), while seaweed extracts (control, 50 and 100 g SW/fed) was arranged in the subplot. While fulvic acid application (control, 1, 2 kg FA/fed) occupied the sub-subplot. The results concluded that application of water quality, seaweed extracts and their interaction affected significantly wheat yield and its components, where yield and its components of wheat crop increased with using Nile water (high quality water), or drainage water with foliar application of seaweed extracts (SWE) at the rate of 100 g/fed and soil application of fulvic acid at the rate of 2 kg/fed [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Neuropathology studies show that patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and Alzheimer's disease typically have lesions of the entorhinal cortex (EC), hippocampus (Hip), and temporal neocortex. Related observations with in vivo imaging have enabled the prediction of dementia from MCI. Although individuals with normal cognition may have focal EC lesions, this anatomy has not been studied as a predictor of cognitive decline and brain change. The objective of this MRI-guided 2-[[sup.18]F]fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose/ positron-emission tomography (FDG/PET) study was to examine the hypothesis that among normal elderly subjects, EC METglu reductions predict decline and the involvement of the Hip and neocortex. In a 3-year longitudinal study of 48 healthy normal elderly, 12 individuals (mean age 72) demonstrated cognitive decline (11 to MCI and 1 to Alzheimer's disease). Nondeclining controls were matched on apolipoprotein E genotype, age, education, and gender. At baseline, metabolic reductions in the EC accurately predicted the conversion from normal to MCI. Among those who declined, the baseline EC predicted longitudinal memory and temporal neocortex metabolic reductions. At follow-up, those who declined showed memory impairment and hypometabolism in temporal lobe neocortex and Hip. Among those subjects who declined, apolipoprotein E E4 carriers showed marked longitudinal temporal neocortex reductions. In summary, these data suggest that an EC stage of brain involvement can be detected in normal elderly that predicts future cognitive and brain metabolism reductions. Progressive E4-related hypometabolism may underlie the known increased susceptibility for dementia. Further study is required to estimate individual risks and to determine the physiologic basis for METglu changes detected while cognition is normal.

(SiO2/Sm2O3) was successfully synthesized and examined using scanning electron microscopy; X-ray diffraction and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Obtained data shows the formation of crystalline phase superimposed over the silicate amorphous matrix. The synthesized catalyst was used for eco-friendly synthesis of bis-indole derivatives. Two moles of indole and different aromatic aldehyde were mixed and heterocyclic aldehydes have been adopted in-expensive, recyclable, easily prepared and nontoxic catalyst (SiO2/Sm2O3) under solvent free conditions. The chemical structures of the synthesized compounds have been introduced and correlated with UV/vis. optical absorption spectra in combination with (HOMO-LUMO) through experimental spectrophotometric data in both direct-indirect transitions and that obtained based of density functional theory (DFT). More than 280.000 barley accessions (Hordeum vulgare L.) were recorded in gene banks around the world. Most of the genetic diversity that local or traditional varieties of cultivated crops possess is being lost. The experiment was conducted at the Faculty of Agriculture (Saba Basha), Alexandria University, Egypt, during 2016 to characterize different barley cultivars and lines under different salt concentrations. Fourteen barely cultivars and eight lines were used in the current research. All the tested samples were sown in petri dish (15 cm dimeter) under different salt concentrations (0, 100, 200 and 300 Mm NaCl) using complete randomized design in three replicates. Morphological parameters were selected and measured after two weeks from each replicate. The morphological parameters were germination percentage (%), seedling height (cm) and root length (cm). Grains of each cultivar were squashed and total protein were sequentially separated. One dimensional SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis was performed to separate the total protein. The genetic relationships among cultivars and lines were measured based on morphological and biochemical markers aiming to use in the future breeding program based on genetic variations. The results revealed significant variations among the tested cultivars and lines under different salt concentrations. Line number 5 and 6 showed the highest mean values of morphological traits under high salt concentrations, while barely cultivars showed different response to salinity levels. The tolerant cultivars showed unique bands in total protein analysis that mean when barely plants subject to abiotic stress such as salinity, plants try to increase the total enzyme contact and some amino acid like proline as defense mechanism for protect the cell wall from damage, this fact was achieved during current results.
