Abstract

We have studied three different 2n-transfer reactions on a 12C target and the 5He-transfer in the reaction 9Be(7Li, d)14C. Combined with a systematic search through experimental results for transfer reactions, inelastic excitations and other data, we have established an almost complete spectroscopy for 14C up to 18 MeV excitation. We identify states with single-particle structure with oblate shapes, and states connected to proton excitations. We identify two bands connected to triangular (oblate) cluster states. Further we list states of prolate shape which have no simple structure related to the low lying oblate states of 12C. These are proposed to form a parity inversion doublet, to have strong alpha-clustering, and to form rotational bands of high moment of inertia. Thus it is possible for the first time to identify chain states expected in the isotope 14C.

Abstract

The neutron-rich Beryllium isotopes 10Be, 11Be and 12Be have been investigated with a number of transfer reactions . Each reaction is chosen to populate specific structures of these isotopes with distinct selectivity. In this way levels of single particle, particle-hole and molecular character can be distinguished and tentative spin-parity assignments could be made.

Abstract

The structure of neutron-rich beryllium isotopes has been investigated using different heavy-ion induced transfer reactions. A strong sensitivity to the chosen core nucleus is found for the cores of 9Be and 10Be, respectively. With a 9Be core, molecular rotational bands up to high excitation energies are observed due to the pronounced 2alpha-cluster structure, whereas only few states at low excitation energies are populated with a 10Be core. For 11Be a detailed investigation has been performed for the three states at 3.41 MeV, 3.89 MeV and 3.96 MeV, which resulted in the most probable spin-parity assignments 3/2+, 5/2- and 3/2-, respectively. Furthermore we have studied particle-hole states of 16C using the 13C(12C, 9C)16C reaction and found 14 previously unknow states.

Abstract

The three-neutron transfer reaction (12C, 9C) has been measured on 13C and 12C targets at 230.7 MeV incident energy. The level scheme of 16C, which was known previously up to 6.11 MeV excitation energy, has been extended up to 17.4 MeV by 14 new states. The structure of these states in terms of particle - hole configurations and possible spin assignments are discussed. In 15C the spins of the states at 6.84 MeV and 7.39 MeV could be uniquely assigned as 9/2- and 7/2-, respectively.

Abstract

The structure of neutron-rich beryllium isotopes has been investigated using different heavy-ion-induced transfer reactions. Abstract

International audience; A spectroscopic study of the proton-rich, particle unstable nucleus 11N has been performed using the multi-nucleon transfer reaction 12C(14N,15C)11N at 30 AMeV incident energy at GANIL. Levels of 11N are observed as well defined resonances in the spectrum of the 15C-ejectiles. They are localized at 2.18(5), 3.63(5), 4.39(5), 5.12(8) and 5.87(15) MeV above the 10C+p threshold. The comparison of the measured widths with R-matrix calculations allows the estimation of spins and parities for these resonances.
