Bu çalışmada, N-heterosiklikkarben (NHC) ligandı olarak bir seri eter-fonksiyonalize benzimidazolyum tuzusentezlendi ve yapıları 1H NMR, 13CNMR, FT-IR ve element analizi yöntemleri ile karakterize edildi. NHC ligandlarıile Pd(OAc)2’ın etkileşiminden insitu oluşturulan [PdX2(NHC)2]kompleksleri, sulu ortamda ve ılımlı koşullar altında fenilboronik asitve aril klorürlerin Suzuki-Miyaura çapraz-eşleşme tepkimelerinde katalizörolarak kullanıldı. In situoluşturulan [PdX2(NHC)2] katalizörleri, elektron verici,elektron çekici veya sterik engelli aril klorürler için yüksek katalitikaktivite gösterdi., In this study, a series of ether-functionalized benzimidazoliumsalts as N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC)ligands were synthesized and their structures characterized by 1HNMR, 13C NMR, FT-IR, and elemental analysis techniques. The in situ formed [PdX2(NHC)2] complexes from the interactionof Pd(OAc)2 with NHC ligands were used as catalyst in theSuzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reactions between phenylboronic acid and aryl chlorides under mild reaction conditions in aqueousmedia. In situ formed [PdX2(NHC)2] catalystsshowed high catalytic activity for electron-donating, electron-drawing orsterically hindered aryl chlorides.

N-Heterosiklik karbenler (NHC), çeşitli katalitik tepkimelerde geleneksel fosfin ligandlarına karşı bir alternatif sunmaktadır. Azot atomu üzerindeki sübstitüyentlerin değiştirilmesi ile farklı sterik ve elektronik özelliklere sahip çeşitli NHC ligandlarını sentezlemek mümkündür. NHC ligandlarının bu değiştirilebilir özelliklerinin yanı sıra yüksek kimyasal ve termal kararlılığa sahip olmaları da fosfinlere oranla, bu ligandlara çoğu katalitik sistemde bir avantaj sağlamaktadır.Kaliks[4]arenler ve resorsin[4]arenler supramoleküler kimyada kullanılan makrosiklik bileşiklerdir. Günümüzde, kaliks[4]aren ve resorsin[4]aren fonksiyonalize metal-NHC kompleksleri çeşitli uygulamalarda supramoleküler kompleksler olarak kullanılmaktadır. Fakat, bu komplekslerin organik sentezde katalizör olarak kullanımı oldukça sınırlıdır.Son zamanlarda, NHC ligandları ve bu ligandların geçiş metal kompleksleri organometalik kimyada, medikal uygulamalarda ve malzeme biliminde çeşitli uygulamaları nedeniyle yoğun bir ilgi görmektedir. Bu sebeple tez kapsamında, fonksiyonalize yeni NHC ligandları ve bu ligandların geçiş metal kompleksleri sentezlenmiş ve yapıları karakterize edilmiştir. Sentezlenen Cu-NHC komplekslerinin allilik sübstitüsyon tepkimelerinde, Pd-NHC komplekslerinin Suzuki-Miyaura çapraz eşleşme tepkimelerinde ve heteroaromatik bileşiklerin C-H aktivasyonundaki katalitik özellikleri test edilmiştir. Ag-NHC komplekslerinin ise farklı mikroorganizmalara karşı antimikrobiyal aktivitesi incelenmiştir. N-Heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) present a viable alternative to traditional phosphine ligands in a variety of catalytic reactions. The ability to synthesize a variety of NHC ligands with differing steric and electronic properties is possible by changing the substituents on the nitrogen atoms of the NHCs. Tunable characteristics and enhanced chemical and thermal stability give NHC's an advantage over phosphines in many catalytic systems.Calix[4]arenes and resorcin[4]arenes are macrocyclic compounds employed in supramolecular chemistry. Nowadays, the calix[4]arene and resorcin[4]arene functionalized metal-NHC complexes are used as supramolecular complexes in various applications. But, the use of these complexes as catalysts in organic synthesis are limited.In recent years, NHCs and their transition-metal complexes have attracted increasing attention, due to their wide applications in organometallic chemistry, medicinal applications and material science. For this reason, within the scope of the thesis the functionalized new NHC ligands and their transition-metal complexes were synthesized and characterized. The catalytic properties of Cu-NHC complexes were tested in the allylic substitution, Pd-NHC complexes were tested in the Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling reactions and C-H activation of heteroaromatic compounds. WOS: 000364968800013, Unsymmetrical imidazolium salts, each having one nitrogen atom (N1) substituted by a cavity-shaped TPR group (TPR = 2,8,14,20-tetrapentylresorcinaren-5-yl), were tested in situ as proligands for the copper-catalysed allylic arylation of cinnamyl bromide with arylmagnesium halides. The catalytic systems produced mixtures of linear (l) and branched (b) arylated compounds in variable proportions, with the b/l ratio being the highest (78:22) for the most crowded imidazolium salt used, namely that in which the second nitrogen atom (N2) was substituted by a mesityl group. Geçiş metalleri için N-heterosiklik karbenlerin ligant olarak kullanımı son yıllarda oldukça yaygın hale gelmiştir. Bu ligantlar ile sentezlenen kompleksler metatez, furan oluşumu, polimerizasyon, hidrosilasyon, hidrojenasyon ve eşleşme reaksiyonlarında oldukça iyi katalitik aktivite göstermektedir. Metal-NHC kompleksleri benzerleri olan metal-fosfin komplekslerine oranla daha kararlı ve kokusuzdur. Ayrıca çoğu kimyasal reaksiyonda 100 ile 1000 kat arasında daha fazla aktivite gösterdiği bilinmektedir. N-heterosiklik karbenler, benzerleri olan fosfin ligantlarından daha iyi kimyasal davranış sergilemeleri, kolay sentezlenebilir olmaları, toksit olmamaları ve fosfinlere alternatif olarak kullanılmaları gibi sebeplerden dolayı homojen kataliz kimyasına yenilik getirmiştir. Bu gibi özellikleri nedeniyle N-heterosiklik karbenler endüstriyel, kimyasal ve farmasötik gibi birçok farklı sahada uygulama alanı bulmuştur. Geçiş metal katalizli çapraz eşleşme reaksiyonları ile karbon-heteroatom bağ oluşumu son yıllarda ilgi çeken önemli konulardan biri olmuştur. Aromatik C-N bağlarının oluşumu özellikle farmasötik ve tarımsal kimyada ilgi çeken bileşiklerin sentezlenmesi için çok önemlidir. Bu amaçla tez kapsamında sübstitüye azolyum tuzları sentezlenmiş ve bu tuzların palladyum kompleksleri hazırlanmıştır. Hazırlanan bu karbenlerin C-N bağ oluşumu tepkimelerindeki katalitik aktiviteleri incelenmiştir. N-heterocyclic carbenes as transition metals have attracted lots of attention in recent years, due to their catalitic activities in metathesis, furan formation, polimerization, hydrosilylation, hydrogenation and coupling reactions. Metal-NHC complexes were more stable than corresponding phospine analogues and odorless, as well as their catalitic activity in many chemical reactions is 100 to 1000 times higher than phospine analogues. N-Heterocyclic carbenes introduced the innovation of the chemistry of homogeneous catalysis due to the fact that they exhibit better chemical behaviour than the corresponding analogues. NHC complexes, unlike phospine analogues show improved chemical properties, easy preparation and are non toxic; thus they have found many applications in catalysis and synthetic chemistry. The carbon-heteroatom bond formation with transition metal catalyzed cross-coupling reactions has been one of the important issues of interest in recent years. The formation of aromatic C-N bonds is very important for the synthesis of interested compounds especially in pharmaceutical and agricultural chemistry.
