Purpose: Due to the incredible criticisms by scholars of the excessive use of social media networks, this study aims to explore students' motivation for social media use (SMU) and its effects on academic performance (AP) in the light of uses and gratification theory. Design/methodology/approach: Using the simple random and snowball sampling techniques, this study has considered 299 responses and critically analyzed them using structural equation modeling through the AMOS version 24. The mediation analysis has been done to explore the effective use of social media networks. Findings: The results reveal that video clip watching and nonacademic learning intentions significantly influence SMU and AP. Besides, socialization through friends and family connections has tremendously fostered SMU intention, while it could not benefit AP. This study found an exceptional result that the entertainment intention of the students did not influence SMU but dramatically impacted their AP. Again, SMU has robust effects on enhancing students' academic achievement. This study also concluded the results of the mediation analysis. Practical implications: The learners, professionals, higher education policymakers, etc. may benefit from following this study's guidelines for using social media networks. Social implications: This study may tremendously contribute to changing the mindset of youth from addiction to SMU and improving AP. Originality/value: The prime novelty of this study is to justify the mediation analysis for SMU to explore whether it can truly influence students' AP and critically examine the deep insight of certain factors associated with SMU.

A chiral and conductive hydrometallogel was synthesized using dynamic boronic acid-cis diol chemistry. A novel tris-boronic acid-functionalized C3-symmetric gelator (MB) was obtained from a trimesic acid derivative, which upon deprotonation (MOH, M = Li, Na, K, and Cs), followed by addition of D -(+)-glucose, triggered hydrometallogel formation. Gel formation was highly selective to D -(+)-glucose among all the screened sugars. To the best of our knowledge, D -(+)-glucose-triggered hydrometallogel formation using a C3-symmetric tris-boronic acid-derived gelator has not been reported. D -(+)-Glucose-triggered gelation was comprehensively investigated using FTIR spectroscopy, UV-vis spectroscopy, circular dichroism, FESEM, 1H NMR spectroscopy, ESI-mass spectrometry, rheology and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy techniques. A reasonably high yield stress (6000 Pa) value was achieved for 5 wt% gel, supporting the observation of the interesting mechanical properties and robust nature of gels. Moreover, impedance spectroscopic study revealed an appreciable conductance value of 2.67 × 10−2 S cm−1, which could be further improved to 8.90 × 10−2 S cm−1 by adding excess LiOH into the gel matrix without compromising its metallogel structural integrity. Social media influences and celebrity endorsers are the dominant marketing strategies marketers follow to promote brands and businesses. The scholars also prioritized examining the diverse issues of social media influences and celebrity endorsers. On this ground, we systematically review the current trend of research to provide a state-of-the-art understanding of the factors prior researchers explored related to social media influences and celebrity endorsers to influence consumer brand purchasing behavior. We have extensively reviewed 200 peer-reviewed papers, including 86 research frameworks from recent (last five years) scientific double-blind articles that obtained at least four citations. We also deeply studied the social learning and source credibility theory used to test the proposed relationships. In the vein of the reviewed articles on social media influences and celebrity endorsers, we have summarized and listed the variables examined in different research contexts. The study reveals that interaction, customization, entertainment, word of mouth, and trendiness are the popular dimensions of social media influences, which the previous scholars explored to measure their effects on consumer brand purchasing intention in diverse contexts. Additionally, attractiveness, trustworthiness, credibility, and expertise are the widely used constructs for assessing the impact of celebrity endorsers on consumer brand purchasing behavior. To the best of our knowledge, this study is the first to provide a list of recent factors associated with social media influences and celebrity endorsers through which the scholars can get insight into the current trend of research. This study is the blueprint for future research to capture a quick view of recent trends in social media influences, celebrity endorsers, and consumer brand purchasing behavior. Finally, based on the comprehensive review of previous literature, we suggested a study to measure the associations of social media influences and celebrity endorsers with brand image, consumer attitude, and consumer brand choice behavior by the backdrop of social learning and source credibility theory in the context of any brands like Smartphone.

Background: The rich tapestry of student politics and movements in Bangladesh is marked by a history of significant contributions to the country's sociopolitical landscape. This study was prompted by a keen interest in exploring the dynamics of contemporary student movements at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science and Technology University (BSMRSTU), Gopalganj, and their interplay with the broader sociopolitical climate of Bangladesh. A critical examination of these movements reveals a complex web of motivations, strategies, and outcomes that both mirror and influence national sociopolitical dialogues. Methods: Employing qualitative research methods, including in-depth interviews (IDI) with 26 individuals directly affected by the culture and mechanics of these movements, this study uncovers the nuanced ways in which student activism at BSMRSTU mobilizes cultural ideologies toward societal change. Purposive and snowball sampling techniques were utilized to select participants, revealing that the rhetoric of movements--framed around justice, rights, equality, and reform--plays a crucial role in recruiting and energizing participants. Results: However, this investigation also highlights a darker facet of these movements: the destructive consequences of specific actions, such as property damage, which not only impact the immediate community but also fuel further unrest. The prevalence of movements centered on themes of injustice underscores the urgent need for both governmental and academic institutions to engage more constructively with student concerns. Addressing this gap requires a nuanced understanding of the motivations behind student movements and a commitment to implementing policies that nurture a culture of dialogue and reform. Conclusion: This study, therefore, problematizes the contemporary student movements at BSMRSTU by questioning the balance between activism and the potential for unintended consequences, urging a reevaluation of how such movements are perceived and managed in the context of Bangladesh's evolving sociopolitical milieu. For harmful movement culture in academia to be prevented, government and university authorities must take student movements seriously and implement policies and strong norms. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
