Traffic flow forecasting, as an integral part of intelligent transportation systems, plays a critical part in traffic planning. Previous studies have primarily focused on short-term traffic flow prediction, paying insufficient attention to long-term prediction. In this study, we propose a hybrid model that utilizes variational mode decomposition (VMD) and the auto-correlation mechanism for long-term prediction. In view of the periodic and stochastic characteristics of traffic flow, VMD is able to decompose the data into intrinsic mode functions with different frequencies, which in turn helps the model extract the internal features of the data and better capture the changes of traffic flow data in the cycle. Additionally, we improve the residual structure by adding a convolutional layer to propose a correction module and use it together with the auto-correlation mechanism to jointly build an encoder and decoder to extract features from different data components (intrinsic mode functions) and fuse the extracted features for output. To meet the requirements of long-term forecasting, we set the traffic flow forecast length to 4 levels: 96, 192, 336, and 720. We validated our model using the departure statistics dataset of a taxi parking lot at Beijing Capital International Airport and achieved the best prediction performance in terms of mean squared error and mean absolute error, compared to the baseline model.

Objective Drug-induced thrombocytopenia (DITP) is associated with increased mortality. This study aims to establish a nomogram to predict the occurrence of DITP in hospitalized patients in a multidrug environment. Methods A single-centre retrospective study among hospitalized adult patients was conducted from January 2021 to December 2021 and was based on the Adverse Drug Events Active Surveillance and Assessment System-Ⅱ (ADE-ASAS-Ⅱ). Three controls were matched for each case according to the propensity score matching algorithm to eliminate confounding bias due to individual baseline variables. Predictors of DITP were obtained by LASSO regression and were used to build the nomogram. Results Among 88151 hospitalized patients, 478 were confirmed to have DITP, which is an incidence rate of 0.54%. After matching, 382 pairs and 1146 patients were included in the study, including 1070 cases in the development group and 427 cases in the validation group. Five variables were used to construct the nomogram: hospital stay ≥ 14days, surgery before using suspected drugs, baseline platelet count 9/L, higher baseline BUN and combined with antibacterial. The areas under the curve (AUC) in the development group and validation group were 0.827 (95% CI 0.800-0.854) and 0.785 (95% CI 0.736–0.834), respectively, and the model also showed good calibration (P > 0.05) in the development group and validation group. Conclusion The established nomogram can help identify high-risk patients with DITP, assist doctors in decision-making, and effectively prevent DITP in the early stage.

Multiferroic devices have attracted renewed attention in applications of photovoltaic devices for their efficient carrier separation driven by internal polarization, magnetization, and above-bandgap generated photovoltages. In this work, Zn2SnO4-based multiferroic Bi6Fe1.6Co0.2Ni0.2Ti3O18/Bi2FeCrO6 (BFCNT/BFCO) heterojunction photoelectrodes were fabricated. Structural and optical analyses showed that the bandgap of the spinel Zn2SnO4 is ∼3.1 eV while those of Aurivillius-type BFCNT and double-perovskite BFCO are 1.62 and 1.74 eV, respectively. Under the simulated AM 1.5G illumination, the as-prepared photoelectrodes delivered a photoconversion efficiency (η) of 3.40% with a short-circuit current density (Jsc), open-circuit voltage (Voc), and fill factor (FF) of 10.3 mA·cm-2, 0.66 V, and 50.4%, respectively. Analyses of adjustment of an applied electric and magnetic field on photovoltaic properties indicated that both magnetization and polarization of multiferroics can effectively tune the built-in electric field and the transport of charge carriers, providing a new idea for the design of future high-performance multiferroic oxide photovoltaic devices.

Multiferroic materials have been widely used in novel multifunctional smart devices for their excellent magnetoelectric coupling properties. In this work, a three-layer multiferroic (Ba0.6Sr0.4TiO3–Ni0.6Zn0.4Fe2O4)3 heterojunction was fabricated using a sol–gel process followed with a rapid thermal process. The phase composition, microtopography as well as magnetoelectric coupling properties of the heterojunction were investigated at room temperature. It demonstrated that such a three-layer heterostructure shows not only excellent ferroelectricity and ferromagnetism, but also good magnetoelectric coupling. The maximum value of the in-plane magnetoelectric coupling coefficient is ~ 55 mV cm−1 Oe−1 at 630 Oe. Meanwhile, the macro-magnetoelectric coupling characteristics of the heterojunction are verified by the dynamic processes of the ferroelectric and ferromagnetic domain structure induced by the stress exerted on dipoles in an applied field, making it more attractive in the design of modern multifunctional devices.

The ability to mutually regulate polarization and magnetization, highly desirable for future multifunctional devices, remains elusive despite extensive investigations. In this work, a concept of mutual regulation of ferroelectric and ferromagnetic orders via stress analysis of dipoles was proposed and the idea was demonstrated in a 2-2 type multiferroic Bi6Fe1.6Co0.2Ni0.2Ti3O18/Bi2FeCrO6 heterostructure fabricated by a sol-gel technique followed with a rapid thermal proces. Both ferroelectricity, ferromagnetism and magnetoelectric coupling of the composite thin film were studied by macro- and microscale measurements. It demonstrated that a reversible change in domain structure does occur while exerting a stress on dipoles by different applied fields, wherein the (inverse)-piezoelectric effect, magnetostriction, Lorentz force, and Hall effect play an important role in deflection of dipoles and evolution of domains, and thus the regulation of polarization and magnetization, making it attractive for novel memories.

Sea cucumbers have been used as food delicacies and traditional medicine for centuries, and their health benefits are partly attributed to their repertoire of proteins. Peptides prepared from the sea cucumber Apostichopus japonicus are reported to have in vitro antioxidant activities. Here, we investigated the in vivo antioxidant capacity of AjPH, a peptide-rich A. japonicus protein hydrolyzate, and found that AjPH is capable of increasing the survival rate and reducing the reactive oxygen species (ROS) level in the animal model Caenorhabditis elegans under increased oxidative stress induced by paraquat. AjPH is also shown to enhance the antioxidant defense system in paraquat-exposed nematodes, including upregulation of superoxide dismutase and catalase activities and reduction of malondialdehyde contents. To explore underpinning antioxidant mechanisms, cellular and chemical assays were used to demonstrate that AjPH not only reduces ROS accumulation in cells but also directly scavenges DPPH free radicals. Further studies indicate that AjPH can decrease age pigments and extend lifespan but does not reduce food intake, body length and brood size of the nematodes, demonstrating its capacity to delay physiological aging. Using activity-guided fractionation by ultrafiltration and gel filtration, we then isolated antioxidant fractions from AjPH and identified the sequences of their composing peptides, which were subjected to in silico analysis for prospective motifs, physicochemical properties and antioxidant potential. Taken together, our results provide an insight into the nutraceutical potential of the sea cucumber protein hydrolyzate for aging and related conditions and also a basis for future mechanistic studies of individual antioxidant peptides.

Multiferroics are being studied increasingly in applications of photovoltaic devices for the carrier separation driven by polarization and magnetization. In this work, textured black silicon photovoltaic devices are fabricated with Bi6Fe1.6Co0.2Ni0.2Ti3O18/Bi2FeCrO6 (BFCNT/BFCO) multiferroic heterojunction as an absorber and graphene as an anode. The structural and optical analyses showed that the bandgap of Aurivillius-typed BFCNT and double perovskite BFCO are 1.62 ± 0.04 eV and 1.74 ± 0.04 eV respectively, meeting the requirements for the active layer in solar cells. Under the simulated AM 1.5 G illumination, the black silicon photovoltaic devices delivered a photoconversion efficiency (η) of 3.9% with open-circuit voltage (Voc), short-circuit current density (Jsc), and fill factor (FF) of 0.75 V, 10.8 mA cm−2, and 48.3%, respectively. Analyses of modulation of an applied electric and magnetic field on the photovoltaic properties revealed that both polarization and magnetization of multiferroics play an important role in tuning the built-in electric field and the transport mechanisms of charge carriers, thus providing a new idea for the design of future high-performance multiferroic oxide photovoltaic devices., Regulation of photovoltaic response in multiferroic oxide BFCNT/BFCO heterojunction black silicon photovoltaic devices by polarization and magnetization.

To investigate the recovery process of swallowing function and ascertain swallowing pattern in patients undergoing total glossectomy (TG).A cohort study was conducted in consecutive patients with tongue squamous cell carcinoma who received TG/hemiglossectomy (HG) from May 2017 to December 2019. Exposure factors included tongue resection range (HG and TG) and postoperative radiotherapy (PRT and non-PRT). The swallowing functions were evaluated by M.D. Anderson dysphagia inventory (MDADI), water swallow test (WST), and tongue pressure (TP) at pretreatment, 1, 4, 7, 12, 18 and 24 months postoperatively. Videofluoroscopy swallowing study (VFSS) was applied to analyze swallowing pattern of TG patients.A total of 67 patients were enrolled, of which 17 underwent TG and 50 underwent HG. Both MDADI and TP of the TG and PRT group were lower than those of the HG and non-PRT group. TG patients had no evident improvement in MDADI and TP after surgery. There was a higher risk of swallowing unsafety with abnormal WST outcome in TG (P 0.001, OR = 106.52) than that in HG. VFSS analysis identified prolonged oral and pharyngeal transit time, disorganized swallowing sequence, abnormal hyoid bone movement, and frequent invalid swallows in patients with TG. A shortened OTT (5066.50 ms) and a larger pharyngeal constriction ratio (PCR 0.31) were associated with increased risks of penetration and aspiration.Postoperative swallowing pattern is a characteristic of severely impaired safety and efficacy in patients with TG. Impaired OTT and PCR are variables that should be examined when determining the need for rehabilitation treatment.

Tomm34, as a member of the outer mitochondrial membrane proteins, is evenly distributed between the cytoplasm and the outer mitochondrial membrane. It is up-regulated in a variety of tumors and correlates with poor prognosis. This study aimed to investigate expression of Tomm34 and its correlations with clinicopathology in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC). Oncomine database and UALCAN database were utilized to predict the expression and prognosis values of Tomm34 in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC). By immunohistochemistry, a retrospective study was performed to verify the bioinformatics results to evaluate the Tomm34 expression and clinicopathological variables in both HPV-positive OSCC and HPV-negative OSCC. Immunohistochemistry of our cohort revealed that 48 cases fulfilled the Tomm34 high expression judgment criteria, and the overall positive rate was 60% (48/80), and 27 cases fulfilled the p16 expression judgment criteria (33.75%, 27/80). The high expression of Tomm34 was closely related with the TNM classification of OSCC (p < 0.01) and tumor size (p < 0.01) both in HPV-negative OSCC and HPV-positive OSCC, while related with lymph node metastasis (p = 0.001) in HPV-negative OSCC and drinking history (p = 0.044) in HPV-positive OSCC. In addition, the Kaplan-Meier curves indicated that higher level of Tomm34 was correlated with poorer overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) in HPV-negative OSCC (OS, p = 0.046; DFS, p = 0.020) but not in HPV-positive OSCC (OS, p = 0.824; DFS, p = 0.782). In conclusion, Tomm34 is highly expressed in OSCC and may be a useful factor to provide prognostic information, especially in HPV-negative OSCC group.

Lead-free magnetoelectric (ME) NiFe2O4/0.65BaTiO3–0.35Na0.5Bi0.5TiO3 (NFO/BT–NBT) bilayer thin films grown on (001)-SrRuO3/SrTiO3 (SRO/STO) substrates were prepared via pulsed laser deposition. Different deposition sequences of the BT–NBT and NFO layers on the substrates yielded the following layered structures: NFO/BT–NBT/SRO/STO and BT–NBT/NFO/SRO/STO. Structural characterization via X-ray diffraction indicated that all of the samples are good crystallization and show c-axis orientation. Physical properties testing indicated that such heteroepitaxial composite thin films simultaneously exhibit excellent ferroelectric, dielectric, ferromagnetic, and ME coupling properties. Meanwhile, the ME coupling behavior of the bilayer thin films is influenced by growth sequences of the composite films. The ME coupling coefficient of the BT–NBT/NFO/SRO/STO ( α E ∼ 120 mV cm─1 Oe─1) thin film is smaller than that of the NFO/BT–NBT/SRO/STO ( α E ∼ 140 mV cm─1 Oe─1) thin film, which may be due to the different substrate clamping effect.

Background Early diagnosis of tumor metastasis is crucial for clinical treatment. Artificial intelligence (AI) has shown great promise in the field of medicine. We therefore aimed to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of AI algorithms in detecting tumor metastasis using medical radiology imaging. Methods We searched PubMed and Web of Science for studies published from January 1, 1997, to January 30, 2020. Studies evaluating an AI model for the diagnosis of tumor metastasis from medical images were included. We excluded studies that used histopathology images or medical wave-form data and those focused on the region segmentation of interest. Studies providing enough information to construct contingency tables were included in a meta-analysis. Findings We identified 2620 studies, of which 69 were included. Among them, 34 studies were included in a meta-analysis with a pooled sensitivity of 82% (95% CI 79–84%), specificity of 84% (82–87%) and AUC of 0·90 (0·87–0·92). Analysis for different AI algorithms showed a pooled sensitivity of 87% (83–90%) for machine learning and 86% (82–89%) for deep learning, and a pooled specificity of 89% (82–93%) for machine learning, and 87% (82–91%) for deep learning. Interpretation AI algorithms may be used for the diagnosis of tumor metastasis using medical radiology imaging with equivalent or even better performance to health-care professionals, in terms of sensitivity and specificity. At the same time, rigorous reporting standards with external validation and comparison to health-care professionals are urgently needed for AI application in the medical field. Heterostructured NiFe2O4/Ba0.85Ca0.15Ti0.9Zr0.1O3 (NFO/BCZT) composite thin films grown epitaxially on (100)-SrRuO3/SrTiO3 substrate (SrRuO3 is used as the bottom electrode) were prepared via pulse laser deposition. Phase formation of the tetragonal BCZT and cubic NFO were confirmed in X-ray diffractograms. A low RMS roughness and a smaller grain size were calculated from the surface microtopography. Physical properties testing indicated that such multiferroic heteroepitaxial composite thin films exhibit simultaneously excellent ferroelectric, dielectric, ferromagnetic properties, as well as conspicuous magnetoelectric effects. The saturated and remnant polarizations of NFO/BCZT film are about 35.79 and 12.43 μC cm−2 respectively, the magnetoelectric coupling coefficient reaches up to about 93 mV cm−1 Oe−1 at a bias magnetic field of 800 Oe, which is expected a bright application prospect in new storage technology and the medical field.

Ferroelectric PbZr0.52Ti0.48O3 film and its partial substitutions by rare earth ions La3+ and Nd3+ Pb0.9(La/Nd)0.1Zr0.52Ti0.48O3, grown on Pt(111)/Ti/SiO2/Si(100) substrates, were prepared via sol–gel and rapid thermal processes. Structural characterization by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy showed that Pb(Zr0.52Ti0.48)O3 and Pb0.9La0.1(Zr0.52Ti0.48)O3 films are of (111) preferred orientation but Pb0.9Nd0.1(Zr0.52Ti0.48)O3 is more inclined to (100) reflection though both are of tetragonal perovskite structure. The results indicate that the piezoelectric properties of PZT thin films can be improved by doping La3+ and Nd3+ substituted A-site. The d33 can be dramatically improved by doping La3+. Moreover, Pr of Pb(Zr0.52Ti0.48)O3 films reaches up to 120.53 µC/cm2, while the doping samples present relatively inferior ferroelectric hysteresis loops (PrLa = 64.32, PrNd = 53.17 µC/cm2), greater dielectric constants, higher dielectric loss and lower leakage current than the undoped Pb(Zr0.52Ti0.48)O3 sample. And meanwhile, the samples showed a typical non-Debye dielectric spectroscopy of multiple quantum relaxation time distribution observing from the Cole–Cole plot at room temperature.

Single-phase multiferroic BiFeO 3 and Bi 0.9 (La/Nd) 0.1 FeO 3 (doped with rare earth ions La 3+ and Nd 3+ ) films grown on (111)-Pt/Ti/SiO 2 /Si substrate were prepared via sol-gel method and a subsequent rapid thermal process. The phase composition, microstructure, ferroelectric, dielectric, ferromagnetic properties were investigated, and meanwhile, the in-plane magnetoelectric (ME) coupling effects of the films were reported and studied for the first time in this work. Structural characterization by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy showed that both BiFeO 3 and Bi 0.9 (La/Nd) 0.1 FeO 3 exhabited a rhombohedral structure with (111) preferred orientation. The results of the physical properties indicated that the introduction of rare earth ions improved significantly the polarization, magnetization and dielectric properties than the undoped BiFeO 3 crystals, and it enhanced effectively the in-plane ME coupling (the ME coupling coefficient α E increased from 0.13 in the pure BiFeO 3 to 0.21 in Bi 0.9 La 0.1 FeO 3 and 0.34 V/(Oe·cm) in Bi 0.9 Nd 0.1 FeO 3 ). The mechanism of these phenomena was investigated systematically.

Biphasic magnetoelectric composite films composed of Pb(Zr0.52Ti0.48)O3 and Bi0.9Nd0.1FeO3 were successfully fabricated on Pt(111)/Ti/SiO2/Si(100) substrates via Sol–gel and Rapid Thermal Process, forming Pb(Zr0.52Ti0.48)O3/Bi0.9Nd0.1FeO3 and Bi0.9Nd0.1FeO3/Pb(Zr0.52Ti0.48)O3 bilayer structures due to the different deposition sequences. Phase formation and lattice parameters of the tetragonal PZT and rhombohedral BNF were confirmed in X-ray diffractograms. The scan electron micrographs showed that Pb(Zr0.52Ti0.48)O3 layer owns larger and closer grains than the corresponding Bi0.9Nd0.1FeO3 layer. Physical properties testing indicated that such bilayer nanostructures show simultaneously excellent ferroelectric and ferromagnetic properties, as well as conspicuous magnetodielectric and magnetoelectric effects. And meanwhile, the Bi0.9Nd0.1FeO3/Pb(Zr0.52Ti0.48)O3 thin films exhibit better ferroelectric, ferromagnetic, magnetodielectric and in-plane magnetoelectric coupling properties than Pb(Zr0.52Ti0.48)O3/Bi0.9Nd0.1FeO3 films, revealing the influence of interfacial effect caused by deposition sequences of the constituent phases.

Crassostrea gigas Thunberg and other oysters have been traditionally used in China as folk remedies to invigorate the kidney and as natural aphrodisiacs to combat male impotence.Erectile dysfunction (ED) has become a major health problem for the global ageing population. The aim of this study is therefore to evaluate the effect of peptide-rich preparations from C. gigas oysters on ED and related conditions as increasing evidence suggests that peptides are important bioactive components of marine remedies and seafood.Crassostrea oyster peptide (COP) preparations COP1, COP2 and COP3 were obtained from C. gigas oysters by trypsin, papain or sequential trypsin-papain digestion, respectively. The contents of testosterone, cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) and nitric oxide (NO) and the activity of nitric oxide synthase (NOS) in mice and/or cells were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays. Real-time PCR was used to assess the expression of genes associated with sex hormone secretion pathways. The model animal Caenorhabditis elegans was also used to analyze the gene expression of a conserved steroidogenic enzyme. In silico analysis of constituent peptides was performed using bioinformatic tools based on public databases.The peptide-rich preparation COP3, in which95% peptides were3000 Da, was found to increase the contents of male mouse serum testosterone and cAMP, both of which are known to play important roles in erectile function, and to increase the activity of mouse penile NOS, which is closely associated with ED. Further investigation using mouse Leydig-derived TM3 cells demonstrates that COP3 was able to stimulate the production of testosterone as well as NO, a pivotal mediator of penile erection. Real-time PCR analysis reveals that COP3 up-regulated the expression of Areg and Acvr2b, the genes known to promote sex hormone secretion, but not Fst, a gene involved in suppressing follicle-stimulating hormone release. Furthermore, COP3 was also shown to up-regulate the expression of let-767, a well-conserved C. elegans gene encoding a protein homologous to human 17-β-hydroxysteroid dehydrogenases. Preliminary bioinformatic analysis using the peptide sequences in COP3 cryptome identified 19 prospective motifs, each of which occurred in more than 10 peptides.In this paper, Crassostrea oyster peptides were prepared by enzymatic hydrolysis and were found for the first time to increase ED-associated biochemical as well as molecular biology parameters. These results may help to explain the ethnopharmacological use of oysters and provide an important insight into the potentials of oyster peptides in overcoming ED-related health issues.

Multiferroic [Formula: see text]/[Formula: see text]–[Formula: see text] bilayer thin film epitaxially grown on (001)-[Formula: see text]/[Formula: see text] substrate was prepared by pulsed laser deposition. Excellent ferroelectric, magnetoelectric properties and a higher Curie temperature were observed in the [Formula: see text]/[Formula: see text]–[Formula: see text] composite thin film compared with the [Formula: see text]/[Formula: see text] composite thin film. In particular, the remnant and saturated polarizations of [Formula: see text]/[Formula: see text]–[Formula: see text] are [Formula: see text] and [Formula: see text], respectively, and the maximum magnetoelectric coefficient can reach up to [Formula: see text], which are larger than those of the [Formula: see text]/[Formula: see text] composite thin film (18.8, [Formula: see text], and [Formula: see text]).

Bilayer magnetoelectric (ME) nanofilms composed of Bi0.9Nd0.1FeO3 (BNF) and Ni0.55Zn0.45Fe2O4 (NZF) were fabricated on the Pt(111)/Ti/SiO2/Si(100) substrates via sol-gel and a subsequent rapid thermal process with different growth sequences of BNF and NZF forming the following layered structures: BNF/NZF and NZF/BNF. The phase composition, microstructure, and ferroelectric, dielectric, ferromagnetic, and ME coupling properties of the composites were investigated at room temperature. Structural characterization by X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy showed that there are no other impurity phases but BNF and NZF, and the nucleation barrier caused that it is easier for NZF and BNF to grow on each other rather than on the surface of Pt/Ti/SiO2/Si. The tests of the physical properties indicated that such heterostructures present both good ferroelectric, ferromagnetic, and dielectric properties and the in-plane ME coupling coefficient α E at room temperature but some discrepancies also exist, which can be attributed to an interfacial effect, in other words, the deposition sequences of the constituent phases have a great influence on the properties of bilayer films.
