Background: Although many epidemiological studies and meta-analyses have reported an association between autoimmune disorders and prostate cancer, none has reported a clear correlation or the direction of the association. The purpose of our study was to explore the potential relationship between autoimmunity-related disorders and prostate cancer using Mendelian randomization (MR). Methods: We retrieved literature from PubMed using the keywords “autoimmune disorder” AND “prostate cancer” to find more clues on the correlation between prostate cancer and autoimmunity-related disorder. Based on this literature search, we selected 16 autoimmunity-related disorders that had genome-wide association study (GWAS) data and may be associated with prostate cancer. The inverse variance weighting (IVW) method was applied as our primary analysis for two-sample MR and multivariate MR analysis to estimate the odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (CI). We further verified the robustness of our conclusions using a series of sensitivity analyses. Results: The autoimmunity-related diseases selected include rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, coxarthrosis, gonarthrosis, Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, irritable bowel syndrome, celiac disease, primary sclerosing cholangitis, asthma, type 1 diabetes, systemic lupus erythematosus, multiple sclerosis, autoimmune hyperthyroidism, psoriatic arthropathies, and polymyalgia rheumatica. The results of inverse variance weighting (IVW suggested that six diseases were associated with the development of prostate cancer. Abstract Pronounced spatial disparities in heatwave trends are bound up with a diversity of atmospheric signals with complex variations, including different phases and wavenumbers. However, assessing their relationships quantitatively remains a challenging problem. Here, we use a network-searching approach to identify the strengths of heatwave-related atmospheric teleconnections (AT) with ERA5 reanalysis data. This way, we quantify the close links between heatwave intensity and AT in the Northern Hemisphere. Approximately half of the interannual variability of heatwaves is explained and nearly 80% of the zonally asymmetric trend signs are estimated correctly by the AT changes in the mid-latitudes. We also uncover that the likelihood of extremely hot summers has increased sharply by a factor of 4.5 after 2000 over areas with enhanced AT, but remained almost unchanged over the areas with attenuated AT. Furthermore, reproducing Eastern European heatwave trends among various models of the Coupled Model Intercomparison Project Phase 6 largely depends on the simulated Eurasian AT changes, highlighting the potentially significant impact of AT shifts on the simulation and projection of heatwaves.

Abstract The comprehensive understanding of propagation patterns of extreme precipitation events (EPEs) is essential for early warning of associated hazards such as floods and landslides. In this study, we utilize climate networks based on an event synchronization measure to investigate the propagation patterns of EPEs over the global land masses, and identify 16 major propagation pathways. We explain them in association with regional weather systems, topographic effects, and travelling Rossby wave patterns. We also demonstrate that the revealed propagation pathways carry substantial EPE predictability in certain areas, such as in the Appalachian, the Andes mountains. Our results help to improve the understanding of key propagation patterns of EPEs, where the global diversity of the propagated patterns of EPEs and corresponding potential predictability provide prior knowledge for predicting EPEs, and demonstrate the power of climate network approaches to study the spatiotemporal connectivity of extreme events in the climate system.

Abstract Background Docetaxel resistance represents a significant obstacle in the treatment of prostate cancer. The intricate interplay between cytokine signalling pathways and transcriptional control mechanisms in cancer cells contributes to chemotherapeutic resistance, yet the underlying molecular determinants remain only partially understood. This study elucidated a novel resistance mechanism mediated by the autocrine interaction of interleukin-11 (IL-11) and its receptor interleukin-11 receptor subunit alpha(IL-11RA), culminating in activation of the JAK1/STAT4 signalling axis and subsequent transcriptional upregulation of the oncogene c-MYC. Methods Single-cell secretion profiling of prostate cancer organoid was analyzed to determine cytokine production profiles associated with docetaxel resistance.Analysis of the expression pattern of downstream receptor IL-11RA and enrichment of signal pathway to clarify the potential autocrine mechanism of IL-11.Next, chromatin immunoprecipitation coupled with high-throughput sequencing (ChIP-seq) was performed to detect the nuclear localization and DNA-binding patterns of phosphorylated STAT4 (pSTAT4). Coimmunoprecipitation and reporter assays were utilized to assess interaction between pSTAT4 and the cotranscription factor CREB-binding protein (CBP) as well as their role in c-MYC transcriptional activity. Results Autocrine secretion of IL-11 was markedly increased in docetaxel-resistant prostate cancer cells. IL-11 stimulation resulted in robust activation of JAK1/STAT4 signalling. Upon activation, pSTAT4 translocated to the nucleus and associated with CBP at the c-MYC promoter region, amplifying its transcriptional activity. Inhibition of the IL-11/IL-11RA interaction or disruption of the JAK1/STAT4 pathway significantly reduced pSTAT4 nuclear entry and its binding to CBP, leading to downregulation of c-MYC expression and restoration of docetaxel sensitivity. Conclusion Our findings identify an autocrine loop of IL-11/IL-11RA that confers docetaxel resistance through the JAK1/STAT4 pathway. The pSTAT4-CBP interaction serves as a critical enhancer of c-MYC transcriptional activity in prostate cancer cells. Targeting this signalling axis presents a potential therapeutic strategy to overcome docetaxel resistance in advanced prostate cancer. Graphical Abstract

Study region: A typical estuarine delta of Gan−Xiu River within Poyang Lake watershed, situated in the north of Jiangxi Province, China Study focus: Although groundwater is considered as a crucial water resource for social development and public health, it presents significant challenges in preventing the deterioration of groundwater quality in the seasonal floodplain regions. Hence, this study focuses on the spatiotemporal variations of ionic concentrations of shallow groundwater in an estuarine delta of Gan-Xiu River in Poyang Lake watershed, which is greatly complicated by complex hydrological regimes and intensive anthropogenic activities such as cropland fertilizer. The potential factors controlling the ionic concentrations were identified using self-organizing map clustering and Piper diagram approaches. Moreover, the overall water quality of shallow groundwater was assessed according to the ionic compositions. New hydrological insights for the region: (1) Shallow groundwater chemistry was influenced by weathering silicate and carbonate from ionic and Gibbs plots, which is highly associated with the distribution of the carbonate rock fissure-karst aquifer in the study region. (2) The contribution of groundwater to river water varied from 53.2 % to 71.5 % via isotopic analysis, suggesting that groundwater dominate the component of river water. (3) Most samples from cluster types are suitable for drinking and irrigation use except for sites from Cluster 6, which were characterized by the higher concentrations of Cl−, NO3− and SO42−.

Summary: Prostate cancer (PCa) is one of the most prevalent urogenital malignancies. Bone metastasis from PCa reduces patient survival rates significantly. There currently exists no effective treatment for bone metastatic PCa, and the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. This study performed transcriptomic screening on PCa bone metastasis specimens and intersection analysis in public databases and identified SERPINH1 as a potential target for treatment. SERPINH1 was found to be upregulated in PCa bone metastases and with poor prognosis, high Gleason score, and advanced metastatic status. SERPINH1 induced PCa cells’ bone metastasis in vivo, promoted their proliferation, and mitigated apoptosis. Mechanistically, SERPINH1 bound to P62, reducing TRIM21-mediated K63-linked ubiquitination degradation of P62 and promoting proliferation and resistance to apoptosis of PCa. This study suggests the regulation of ubiquitination degradation of P62 by SERPINH1 that promotes PCa bone metastasis and can be considered as a potential target for treatment of bone metastatic PCa.

Background This study comprehensively investigates the association between the expression of nicotinamide N-methyltransferase (NNMT) and clinical outcomes of urothelial bladder cancer (UBC), as well as the molecular mechanisms by which NNMT in cancer-associated fibroblast (CAF) modulates tumor progression and immunotherapy resistance in UBC.Methods Single-cell transcriptomic analyses, immunohistochemical and immunofluorescence assays were performed on bladder cancer samples to validate the relationship between NNMT expression and clinical outcomes. A series of experiments, including chromatin immunoprecipitation assay, liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry assay, and CRISPR‒Cas9 (Clustered Regularly Interspaced Short Palindromic Repeats and CRISPR-associated protein 9) knockout, together with in vivo models, have been established to determine the molecular functions of NNMT in CAFs in UBC.Results We demonstrated that elevated expression of the nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) metabolism enzyme NNMT in CAFs (NNMT+ CAFs) was significantly associated with non-response to programmed death-ligand 1 (PD-L1) blockade immunotherapy in patients with UBC and predicted the unfavorable prognosis of UBC in two independent large cohorts. Targeting NNMT using the inhibitor 5-Amino-1-methylquinolinium iodide significantly reduced tumor growth and enhanced the apoptotic effects of the anti-PD-L1 antibody in UBC mouse models. Mechanistically, NNMT+ CAFs recruit tumor-associated macrophages via epigenetic reprogramming of serum amyloid A (SAA) to drive tumor cell proliferation and confer resistance to programmed death-1/PD-L1 blockade immunotherapy.Conclusions NNMT+ CAFs were significantly associated with non-response to PD-L1 blockade immunotherapy in patients with UBC. Elevated NNMT, specifically in CAFs, upregulates SAA expression and enhances the recruitment and differentiation of macrophages in the tumor microenvironment, thereby directly or indirectly promoting tumor progression and conferring resistance to immunotherapies in bladder cancer.

Synchronization in complex networks is a ubiquitous and important phenomenon with implications in various fields. Excessive synchronization may lead to undesired consequences, making desynchronization techniques essential. Exploiting the Proximal Policy Optimization algorithm, this work studies reinforcement learning-based pinning control strategies for synchronization suppression in global coupling networks and two types of irregular coupling networks: the Watts-Strogatz small-world networks and the Barabási-Albert scale-free networks. We investigate the impact of the ratio of controlled nodes and the role of key nodes selected by the LeaderRank algorithm on the performance of synchronization suppression. Numerical results demonstrate the effectiveness of the reinforcement learning-based pinning control strategy in different coupling schemes of the complex networks, revealing a critical ratio of the pinned nodes and the superior performance of a newly proposed hybrid pinning strategy. The results provide valuable insights for suppressing and optimizing network synchronization behavior efficiently.

The ability to calculate the material density sensitivity coefficients of power with respect to the material density has broad application prospects for accelerating Monte Carlo-Thermal Hydraulics iterations. The second-order material density sensitivity coefficients for the general Monte Carlo score have been derived based on the differential operator sampling method in this paper, and the calculation of the sensitivity coefficients of cell power scores with respect to the material density has been realized in continuous-energy Monte Carlo code RMC. Based on the power-density sensitivity coefficients, the sensitivity coefficients of power scores to some other physical quantities, such as power-boron concentration coefficients and power-temperature coefficients considering only the thermal expansion, were subsequently calculated. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated in the power-density coefficients problems of the pressurized water reactor (PWR) moderator and the heat pipe reactor (HPR) reflectors. The calculations were carried out using RMC and the ENDF/B-VII.1 neutron nuclear data. It is shown that the calculated sensitivity coefficients can be used to predict the power scores accurately over a wide range of boron concentration of the PWR moderator and a wide range of temperature of HPR reflectors.

This study investigates the geometrical and mechanical properties of two cassava varieties: ‘Newly Elected No. 48’ and ‘Jin Yue HRMUS’. We analyzed various properties, including width, length, geometric diameter, thickness, compression firmness, shape ratio, surface area, shear strength, rupture force, and shear rupture force (SRF), at different moisture content (MC) levels ranging from 35.0 to 80.0% wet basis. Our findings indicate that all mechanical properties of cassava (MPC) were significantly influenced by moisture content within this range. Specifically, as moisture content decreases, the compression rupture force (CRF) increases linearly in the vertical direction, while a quadratic relationship is observed in the horizontal direction, characterized by an initial increase followed by a decrease. Additionally, a quadratic relationship was established between moisture content and firmness. In contrast, shear fracture force and strength exhibited a quadratic relationship that decreased initially and then increased with rising moisture content. Furthermore, both compression and shear fracture forces were significantly higher in the vertical loading direction compared to the horizontal direction. Notably, the ‘Jin Yue HRMUS’ variety demonstrated greater mechanical strength than the ‘Newly Elected No. 48’. These findings provide valuable insights for developing, optimizing, and evaluating cassava harvesting and processing machinery.

The association between high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) and cardiovascular disease (CVD) is controversial. HDL-C is one content type of high-density lipoprotein (HDL). HDL consists of diverse proteins and lipids and can be classified into different subclasses based on size, shape, charge, and density, and can change dynamically in disease states. Therefore, HDL-C levels alone cannot represent HDLs’ cardioprotective role. In this review, we summarized the methods for separating HDL subclasses, the studies on the association between HDL subclasses and cardiovascular risk (CVR), and the impact of lipid-modifying medications and nonpharmacological approaches (exercise training, dietary omega fatty acids, and low-density lipoprotein apheresis) on HDL subclasses. As HDL is a natural nanoplatform, recombinant HDLs (rHDLs) have been used as a delivery system in vivo by loading small interfering RNA, drugs, contrast agents, etc. Therefore, we further reviewed the HDL subclasses used in rHDLs and their advantages and disadvantages. This review would provide recommendations and guidance for future studies on HDL subclasses’ cardioprotective roles.

Abstract Background Bone metastasis is a principal cause of mortality in patients with prostate cancer (PCa). Increasing evidence indicates that high expression of stromal interaction molecule 1 (STIM1)-mediated store-operated calcium entry (SOCE) significantly activates the calcium (Ca2+) signaling pathway and is involved in multiple steps of bone metastasis in PCa. However, the regulatory mechanism and target therapy of STIM1 is poorly defined. Methods Liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis was performed to identify tetraspanin 18 (TSPAN18) as a binding protein of STIM1. Co-IP assay was carried out to explore the mechanism by which TSPAN18 inhibits STIM1 degradation. The biological function of TSPAN18 in bone metastasis of PCa was further investigated in vitro and in vivo models. Result We identified that STIM1 directly interacted with TSPAN18, and TSPAN18 competitively inhibited E3 ligase tripartite motif containing 32 (TRIM32)-mediated STIM1 ubiquitination and degradation, leading to increasing STIM1 protein stability. Furthermore, TSPAN18 significantly stimulated Ca2+ influx in an STIM1-dependent manner, and then markedly accelerated PCa cells migration and invasion in vitro and bone metastasis in vivo. Clinically, overexpression of TSPAN18 was positively associated with STIM1 protein expression, bone metastasis and poor prognosis in PCa. Conclusion Taken together, this work discovers a novel STIM1 regulative mechanism that TSPAN18 protects STIM1 from TRIM32-mediated ubiquitination, and enhances bone metastasis of PCa by activating the STIM1-Ca2+ signaling axis, suggesting that TSPAN18 may be an attractive therapeutic target for blocking bone metastasis in PCa.

Abstract Purpose To clarify the necessity and effect of a single intraoperative instillation of chemotherapy during radical cystectomy. Methods Patients who underwent radical cystectomy for bladder cancer between January 2013 and April 2019 were retrospectively evaluated and divided into a non‐instillation group and an instillation group according to the intraoperative instillation of chemotherapy. Univariate and multivariate Cox regression was used to determine the clinical predictors of overall survival and disease‐free survival. Kaplan–Meier analysis and log‐rank tests were performed to analyze overall survival and disease‐free survival. Results Of the 320 patients who were enrolled in the study, 113 underwent radical cystectomy with intraoperative instillation of chemotherapy. Univariate Cox analysis showed that intraoperative instillation was not a risk factor for overall survival or disease‐free survival (HR: 1.04, 95% CI: 0.66–1.63, p = 0.864; HR: 1.11, 95% CI: 0.76–1.62, p = 0.602, respectively). As shown in the Kaplan–Meier analysis, no significant differences were noted in overall survival (p = 0.857) and disease‐free survival (p = 0.600) between the two groups. A subgroup analysis demonstrated that intraoperative instillation was not associated with a statistically better overall survival and disease‐free survival in the nonmuscle invasive (p = 0.852 and 0.836) and muscle‐invasive (p = 0.929 and 0.805) patients. Conclusion A single intraoperative instillation of chemotherapy during radical cystectomy was not related to better disease‐free survival or overall survival. It is unnecessary to consider single instillation of chemotherapy as a regular procedure during radical cystectomy.

Abstract Background Metastatic prostate cancer (mPCa) has a poor prognosis with limited treatment options. The high mobility of tumor cells is the key driving characteristic of metastasis. However, the mechanism is complex and far from clarified in PCa. Therefore, it is essential to explore the mechanism of metastasis and discover an intrinsic biomarker for mPCa. Methods Transcriptome sequencing data and clinicopathologic features of PCa from multifarious public databases were used to identify novel metastatic genes in PCa. The PCa tissue cohort containing 102 formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) samples was used to evaluate the clinicopathologic features of synaptotagmin-like 2 (SYTL2) in PCa. The function of SYTL2 was investigated by migration and invasion assays and a 3D migration model in vitro and a popliteal lymph node metastasis model in vivo. We performed coimmunoprecipitation and protein stability assays to clarify the mechanism of SYTL2. Results We discovered a pseudopodia regulator, SYTL2, which correlated with a higher Gleason score, worse prognosis and higher risk of metastasis. Functional experiments revealed that SYTL2 promoted migration, invasion and lymph node metastasis by increasing pseudopodia formation in vitro and in vivo. Furthermore, SYTL2 induced pseudopodia formation by enhancing the stability of fascin actin-bundling protein 1 (FSCN1) by binding and inhibiting the proteasome degradation pathway. Targeting FSCN1 enabled rescue and reversal of the oncogenic effect of SYTL2. Conclusions Overall, our study established an FSCN1-dependent mechanism by which SYTL2 regulates the mobility of PCa cells. We also found that the SYTL2-FSCN1-pseudopodia axis may serve as a pharmacological and novel target for treating mPCa.

Ferroptosis, a distinctive form of programmed cell death, is involved in numerous diseases with specific characteristics, including certain cell morphology, functions, biochemistry, and genetics, that differ from other forms of programmed cell death, such as apoptosis. Many studies have explored ferroptosis and its associated mechanisms, drugs, and clinical applications in diseases such as kidney injury, stroke, ischemia-reperfusion injury, and prostate cancer. In this review, we summarize the regulatory mechanisms of some ferroptosis inducers, such as enzalutamide and erastin. These are current research focuses and have already been studied extensively. In summary, this review focuses on the use of ferroptosis induction as a therapeutic strategy for treating tumors of the urinary system.

Abstract. Eosinophilic gastroenteritis (EGE) is a gastrointestinal disorder of unclear etiology that is characterized by eosinophilic infiltration of the stomach and small intestine, and consists of mucosal, muscular, and serosal subtypes. Eosinophilic infiltration of the gastrointestinal tract is a fundamental histopathological characteristic of EGE and is driven by several T-helper type 2 (Th2)-dependent cytokines and induced by food allergy. Due to the lack of a diagnostic gold standard, EGE has a high rate of delayed diagnosis or misdiagnosis. However, several new diagnostic strategies have been developed, such as novel genetic biomarkers and imaging tests. Although dietary therapy and corticosteroids remain the common choices for EGE treatment, recent decades have seen the emergence of novel treatment alternatives, such as biologics that target particular molecules involved in the pathogenic process. Preliminary investigations and clinical trials have demonstrated the efficacy of biologics and provided additional insights for the era of refractory or corticosteroid-dependent EGE biologics.

In recent years, renewable energy has seen widespread application. However, due to its intermittent nature, there is a need to develop energy management systems for its scheduling and control. This paper introduces a multi-stage constraint-handling multi-objective optimization method tailored for resilient microgrid energy management. The microgrid encompasses diesel generators, energy storage systems, renewable energy sources, and various load types. The intelligent management of generators, batteries, switchable loads, and controllable loads ensures a reliable power supply for the critical loads. Beyond operational costs, our model also considers grid dependency as a key objective, making it particularly suited for energy management in extreme environments such as islands, border regions, and military bases. Managing complex controls of generators, batteries, switchable loads, and controllable loads presents challenging constraints that the management strategy must meet. To tackle this challenge, we propose an multi-objective optimization algorithm with multi-stage constraint-handling strategy to handle the high-dimensional complex constraints of the resilient energy management problem. Our proposed approach demonstrates superior performance compared to nine leading constrained multi-objective optimization algorithms across various test scenarios. Furthermore, the benefits of our method become increasingly evident as the complexity of the problem increases. Compared to the classical NSGA-II, the proposed NSGA-II-MC method achieved a 49.7% improvement in the Hypervolume metric on large-scale problems.

Carcinogen exposure is strongly associated with enhanced cancer immunogenicity. Increased tumor mutational burden and resulting neoantigen generation have been proposed to link carcinogen exposure and cancer immunogenicity. However, the neoantigen-independent immunological impact of carcinogen exposure on cancer is unknown. Here, we demonstrate that chemical carcinogen-exposed cancer cells fail to establish an immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment (TME), resulting in their T cell–mediated rejection in vivo. A chemical carcinogen-treated breast cancer cell clone that lacked any additional coding region mutations (i.e., neoantigen) was rejected in mice in a T cell–dependent manner. Strikingly, the coinjection of carcinogen- and control-treated cancer cells prevented this rejection, suggesting that the loss of immunosuppressive TME was the dominant cause of rejection. Reduced M-CSF expression by carcinogen-treated cancer cells significantly suppressed tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) and resulted in the loss of an immunosuppressive TME. Single-cell analysis of human lung cancers revealed a significant reduction in the immunosuppressive TAMs in former smokers compared with individuals who had never smoked. These findings demonstrate that carcinogen exposure impairs the development of an immunosuppressive TME and indicate a novel link between carcinogens and cancer immunogenicity.

With the increasing demand for high-fidelity nuclear reactor simulations, the acceleration of Monte Carlo particle transport codes is becoming a core problem. One of the bottlenecks is locating millions or even billions of cells and fetching their associated parameters in the repeated geometry structure. Typically, Monte Carlo codes utilize a hash function to accelerate the cell locating and parameter indexing process. Specifically, they use the “cell vector → hash → parameter” method to accelerate the direct “cell vector → parameter” method. In this work, we propose a better hash method based on the Cyclic Redundancy Check (CRC) mechanism, which has been mathematically proven to be efficient and produce fewer hash collisions. Experimentally, this new hash method has been compared with some other hash functions and showed its superiority in terms of the calculation speed and collision probabilities. This hash method has been integrated into the Reactor Monte Carlo code RMC and worked well in practical applications.

Objective: To explore the genetic changes in the progression of castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) and neuroendocrine prostate cancer (NEPC) and the reason why these cancers resist existing therapies. Methods: We employed our CRPC cell line microarray and other CRPC or NEPC datasets to screen the target gene NEIL3. Lentiviral transfection and RNA interference were used to construct overexpression and knockdown cell lines. Cell and animal models of radiotherapy were established by using a medical electron linear accelerator. Flow cytometry was used to detect apoptosis or cell cycle progression. Western blot and qPCR were used to detect changes in the protein and RNA levels. Results: TCGA and clinical patient datasets indicated that NEIL3 was downregulated in CRPC and NEPC cell lines, and NEIL3 was correlated with a high Gleason score but a good prognosis. Further functional studies demonstrated that NEIL3 had no effect on the proliferation and migration of PCa cells. However, cell and animal radiotherapy models revealed that NEIL3 could facilitate the radiotherapy sensitivity of PCa cells, while loss of NEIL3 activated radiotherapy resistance. Mechanistically, we found that NEIL3 negatively regulated the expression of ATR, and higher NEIL3 expression repressed the ATR/CHK1 pathway, thus regulating the cell cycle. Conclusions: We demonstrated that NEIL3 may serve as a diagnostic or therapeutic target for therapy-resistant patients.

Underwater robots have been widely used in ocean exploration, deep-sea observation, seabed operations, marine scientific research, and other fields. Underwater low-latency, efficient, and safe communication modes are key to realizing the application of an underwater robot data transmission system. This paper mainly studies the optical communication between underwater mobile robots, including the large-dispersion-angle light-emitting diode (LED) design, large field of view receiving technology, weak light detector technology, etc. By designing a 120° large divergence angle underwater optical communication system in this study, the receiving field-of-view angle of the receiving end can reach 60°, which is suitable for the optical communication system of an underwater mobile platform. The high-power LED driver circuit is designed to drive the high-power LED and adopt weak light detection technology to ensure its stability and reliability. The experimental results show that, in the case of incomplete alignment between the transmitter and receiver, stable communication of underwater robots in motion is achieved through the design of a large divergence angle and a receiving field-of-view angle and the use of an underwater weak light detection technology. The communication distance is 30 m, and the communication rate remains above 10 Mbps. The information transmission content can include network data transmission, real-time video, high-definition video, high-definition images, and other data types. This equipment provides a solution for cableless data transmission of remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) and substantially enhances the application field of ROVs.

Abstract Background Balloon dilation is a commonly used minimally invasive endourological treatment of ureteral stricture, but the postoperative recurrence rate is relatively high. And factors contributing to recurrence after treatment are poorly understood. Herein, we sought to develop a novel clinical nomogram to predict ureteral stricture-free survival in patients suffering from ureter stricture and performed balloon dilation. Methods The nomogram was established based on a retrospective analysis of 321 patients who received endoscopic balloon dilation alone for ureter strictures from January 2016 to January 2020 in Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital using the Cox regression model. Perioperative clinical data and disease outcomes were analyzed. The primary endpoint was the onset of ureteral re-stricture after ureter balloon dilation. Discrimination of the nomogram was assessed by the concordance index (C-index) and the calibration curve. The results were internally validated using bootstrap resampling. Results Overall, 321 patients with a median follow-up of 590 days were enrolled in the study, among which 97 patients (30.2%) developed recurrence of ureteral stricture during follow-up. The optimal economic power dispatching of a microgrid is an important part of the new power system optimization, which is of great significance to reduce energy consumption and environmental pollution. The microgrid should not only meet the basic demand of power supply but also improve the economic benefit. Considering the generation cost, the discharge cost, the power purchase cost, the electricity sales revenue, the battery charging and discharging power constraints, and the charging and discharging time constraints, a joint optimization model for a multi-scenario microgrid with wind–photovoltaic-load storage is proposed in our study. Additionally, the corresponding model solving algorithm based on particle swarm optimization is also given. In addition, taking the Wangjiazhai project in Baiyangdian region as a case study, the effectiveness of the proposed model and algorithm is verified. The joint optimization model for a microgrid with wind–photovoltaic-load storage in multiple scenarios is discussed and investigated, and the optimal economic power dispatching schemes in multiple scenarios are also provided. Our research shows that: (1) the battery can play a role in peak shaving and valley filling, which can make microgrids more economical; (2) when the power purchase price is lower than the cost of renewable energy power generation, if the wind turbine and the photovoltaics are allowed to be discarded the microgrid will produce higher economic benefits; and (3) restricting the exchange power between the microgrid and the main power network will lead to a negative impact on the economy for the microgrid.

BackgroundPulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is a serious complication of systemic sclerosis (SSc). PAH has high mortality, and risk assessment is critical for proper management. Whether the right ventricle to pulmonary artery (RV-PA) coupling accurately assesses risk status and predicts prognosis in patients with SSc-associated PAH has not been investigated.MethodsBetween March 2010 and July 2018, 60 consecutive patients with SSc-associated PAH diagnosed by right heart catheterization were enrolled prospectively, and the mean follow-up period was 52.9 ± 27.0 months. The RV-PA coupling was assessed by the ratio of tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion (TAPSE) and pulmonary artery systolic pressure (PASP) which was obtained by transthoracic echocardiography. The simplified risk stratification strategy was applied to assess the risk level of participants, and the endpoint was a composite of all-cause death and clinical worsening.ResultsThe receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve of the ability to determine high-risk patients identified the optimal cut-off value of the TAPSE/PASP ratio as 0.194 mm/mmHg, and the ratio appeared to be a reliable indicator in the stratification of patients with high risk (area under the curve = 0.878, ROC P-value = 0.003), which showed the highest positive likelihood ratio (LR) (5.4) and the lowest negative LR (0) among a series of echocardiographic parameters. The TAPSE/PASP ratio was an independent predictive factor (HR = 0.01, 95% CI: 0.00–0.77, P = 0.037) for the composite endpoint, and patients with a TAPSE/PASP ratio >0.194 had a better overall survival for both the composite endpoint (log-rank χ2 = 5.961, P = 0.015) and all-cause mortality (log-rank χ2 = 8.004, P = 0.005) compared to the patients with a TAPSE/PASP ≤ 0.194.ConclusionRV-PA coupling assessed by the TAPSE/PASP ratio provides added value as a straightforward and non-invasive approach for predicting risk stratification of patients with SSc-associated PAH. Meanwhile, a lower TAPSE/PASP ratio identified a subgroup with worse prognosis.

Introduction: Recent studies employing functional imaging methodology have revealed reference brain regions of urinary tract function, namely, the midbrain periaqueductal gray matter, thalamus, and cingulate and prefrontal cortices. The orthotopic ileal neobladder is a desirable method for urinary diversion after radical cystectomy, but its supraspinal control remains unknown. We aimed to evaluate brain activity while maintaining urinary urgency and voluntary urinary control in male subjects with ileal orthotopic neobladders by performing functional MRI (fMRI) during a block design experiment.Materials and Methods: Patients were recruited at the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital of the Sun Yat-sen University from October 2017 to May 2019. Two tasks were performed during fMRI scanning: (1) repeated infusion and withdrawal of sterile saline solution into and out of the neobladder to simulate urgency; and (2) repeated contraction of the pelvic floor muscle with a full neobladder to induce inhibition of micturition since the subjects were asked not to urinate. The obtained data were visualized and statistically analyzed.Results: Sixteen subjects were recruited in the study, and data were obtained from 10 subjects: mean age 60.1 years, average postoperative time 20.2 months, and daytime continence rate 100%. The parahippocampus, frontal lobe, vermis, and anterior cingulate cortex were activated with large bladder volumes, and the thalamus and caudate nucleus were deactivated during voluntary urinary control.Conclusion: A complex supraspinal program is involved during ileal orthotopic neobladder control, which is significantly different from that with normal bladders, in which the original intestine visceral volume sensation is preserved.

Inspired by the guidance principle in the electromagnetic levitation system, a new permanent magnet electrodynamic suspension (PM EDS) structure with ferromagnetic guidance track is proposed and analyzed in this paper. Considering the lack of effective guidance ability for the PM EDS system, we adopted the ferromagnetic guidance track as being mounted under the conductor plate. The guidance principle is studied and the implementation of the guidance function is also introduced, and the finite element method (FEM) is employed and its accuracy is confirmed via the PM EDS high-speed rotating experimental platform fabricated in our laboratory. The influence of longitudinal speed on the guidance force is taken into account, which shows that the guidance performance is enhanced more obviously at low speeds. Moreover, the influence of the guidance track parameters on the guidance performance is also analyzed, including the geometric parameters, section shape, installation position and material. The equivalent small-scale PM EDS system experimental prototype is carried out to validate the effectiveness of the ferromagnetic guidance. The proposed ferromagnetic guidance structure is demonstrated to improve the guidance performance of the PM EDS system effectively, which will offer a technical reference for the practical engineering application of the PM EDS system.

Immunotherapy is gradually emerging in the field of tumor treatment. However, because of the complexity of the tumor microenvironment (TME), some patients cannot benefit from immunotherapy. Therefore, we comprehensively analyzed the TME and gene mutations of ccRCC to identify a comprehensive index that could more accurately guide the immunotherapy of patients with ccRCC. We divided ccRCC patients into two groups based on immune infiltration activity. Next, we investigated the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and constructed a prognostic immune score using univariate Cox regression analysis, unsupervised cluster analysis, and principal component analysis (PCA) and validated its predictive power in both internal and total sets. Subsequently, the gene mutations in the groups were investigated, and patients suitable for immunotherapy were selected in combination with the immune score. The prognosis of the immune score-low group was significantly worse than that of the immune score-high group. The patients with BRCA1-associated protein 1 (BAP1) mutation had a poor prognosis. Thus, this study indicated that establishing an immune score model combined with BAP1 mutation can better predict the prognosis of patients, screen suitable ccRCC patients for immunotherapy, and select more appropriate drug combinations.

BackgroundChemoresistance is the major cause of death in advanced prostate cancer (PCa), especially in metastatic PCa (mPCa). However, the molecular mechanisms underlying the chemoresistance of PCa remain unclear. Understanding the reason behind the drug resistance would be helpful in developing new treatment approaches.MethodsThe Cancer Genome Atlas, Gene Expression Omnibus datasets, and clinical samples were used to examine the correlation between growth arrest and DNA damage-inducible 45 beta (GADD45B) with clinical characteristics and prognosis. Lentiviral transfection was used to construct GADD45B overexpression cell lines. Hypoxic incubator, low serum medium, or docetaxel was used to build environmental stress model or chemotherapy cell model. The MTS assay and colony formation assay were used to test cell viability. Apoptosis and cell cycle were detected by flow cytometry. The RNA and protein levels of related biomarkers were tested by Western blotting and quantitative polymerase chain reaction. Bioinformatics analysis after RNA sequencing was performed to identify the possible mechanism of how GADD45B regulates chemotherapy resistance.ResultsGADD45B was related to distant metastasis but not to Gleason score, prostate-specific antigen level, T stage, or lymph node metastasis and indicated a good prognosis. The level of GADD45B increased significantly in PCa cells that faced environmental stress. It was found that a high level of GADD45B significantly enhanced the chemosensitivity. Furthermore, high GADD45B promoted cell apoptosis via mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathway.ConclusionGADD45B promoted chemosensitivity of prostate cancer through MAPK pathway. GADD45B could serve as a diagnostic biomarker and therapeutic target for mPCa or chemotherapy-resistant patients.

Background Although immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs), especially programmed cell death protein 1 (PD-1)/programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1) axis blockers, exhibit prominent antitumor effects against numerous malignancies, their benefit for patients with prostate cancer (PCa) has been somewhat marginal. This study aimed to assess the feasibility of B7-H3 or HHLA2 as alternative immunotherapeutic targets in PCa.Methods Immunohistochemistry was performed to evaluate the expression pattern of PD-L1, B7-H3 and HHLA2 and the infiltration of CD8+ and Foxp3+ lymphocytes in 239 PCa tissues from two independent cohorts. The correlations between B7-H3 and HHLA2 and clinicopathological features, including the presence of CD8+ and Foxp3+ tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs), were explored.Results HHLA2 expression was much higher than PD-L1 expression but lower than B7-H3 expression in PCa tissues. High expression of both B7-H3 and HHLA2 was significantly associated with higher Gleason score and tumor stage, lymph node metastasis and dismal overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS). Moreover, a high B7 score, defined as high B7-H3 expression and/or high HHLA2 expression, was an independent prognostic predictor for PCa. Of note, a high B7 score was negatively correlated with CD8+ TILs. Importantly, a new immune classification, based on the B7 score and CD8+ TILs, successfully stratified OS and CSS in PCa.Conclusions Both B7-H3 and HHLA2 have a critical impact on the immunosuppressive microenvironment, and the B7 score could be used as an independent prognostic factor for PCa. The B7 score combined with CD8+ TILs could be used as a new immune classification to stratify the risk of death, especially cancer-related death, for patients with PCa. These findings may provide insights that could improve response to immune-related comprehensive therapy for PCa in the future.

ObjectivesTumor enucleation (TE) optimizes parenchymal preservation with promising short-term oncologic outcomes compared with standard partial nephrectomy (SPN). However, researches/literatures about long-term oncologic outcomes for TE after minimally invasive surgery are scarce. We aim to analyze long-term oncologic outcomes after laparoscopic and robotic tumor enucleation for renal cell carcinoma (RCC).Patients and MethodsWe retrospectively analyzed 146 patients who underwent TE with either laparoscopic or robotic approach for localized RCC in our center. Local recurrence, cancer specific survival (CSS), recurrence free survival (RFS), and overall survival (OS) were the main outcomes. Survival curves were generated using a Kaplan-Meier method. Perioperative outcomes and pathological outcomes were also analyzed.ResultsOverall, 98 male and 48 female patients were eligible for the study. The median tumor size was 3.4 cm with a median R.E.N.A.L. score of seven. Warm ischemia was used in 143 patients with a median ischemia time of 20 min and three patients had zero ischemia. Five patients (3.4%) had major complications (> Clavien IIIa) and only two were related to urinary system. The median global glomerular filtration rate (GFR) preserved after surgery was 93%. Pseudocapsule invasion was reported in 50 tumors (34%) and positive surgical margins were found in 3/146 (2.1%) tumors. At a median follow-up of 66 months, local recurrence happened in two patients (1.4%), and systemic recurrence happened in six patients (4.2%). The 5-year CSS, RFS, OS were 95.7, 89.6, and 91.9%, and the 10-year CSS, RFS, OS were 93.8, 89.6, and 90.0%, respectively.ConclusionThis study indicates that tumor enucleation with laparoscopic or robotic approach in experienced hands for the treatment of RCC appears oncologically safe with a median follow-up of more than 5 years. Prospective studies with more patients and longer follow-up will be required to further evaluate oncologic safety after TE.

In recent years, technologies for renewable energy utilization have been booming. Hybrid renewable energy systems (HRESs), integrating multiple energy sources to mitigate the unstable, unpredictable, and intermittent characteristics of a single renewable energy source, have become increasingly popular. However, due to the inherent intermittency and uncertainty of renewable energies, the impact of uncertain factors on the capacity optimization of HRESs needs to be considered. In the traditional scenario-based planning method, when dealing with uncertain factors, the probability corresponding to the scenario is difficult to determine. Furthermore, when applying the robust optimization method, it is difficult to fully use existing data to describe uncertain parameters in the form of intervals. To tackle these difficulties, this study proposes a probability undetermined scenario-based sizing model (PUSS model) for stand-alone HRES configuration optimization and a multi-objective evolutionary algorithm as the problem solver. The solution set obtained by the method covers multiple possible values of scenario probability combinations and can provide decision-makers with an overview of alternatives for HRES sizing under different power supply pressures. Based on the real environment data and load data of a certain place, the proposed model and algorithm are applied to sizing a typical HRES comprising wind generators, solar photovoltaic panels, energy-storage devices, and diesel generators. The experimental results show that the proposed PUSS method is both effective and efficient.

Abstract Metastasis is the major cause of prostate cancer (PCa)‐related mortality. Epithelial‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) is a vital characteristic feature that empowers cancer cells to adapt and survive at the beginning of metastasis. Therefore, it is essential to identify the regulatory mechanism of EMT in metastatic prostate cancer (mPCa) and to develop a novel therapy to block PCa metastasis. Here, we discovered a novel PCa metastasis oncogene, DEP domain containing 1B (DEPDC1B), which was positively correlated with the metastasis status, high Gleason score, advanced tumor stage, and poor prognosis. Functional assays revealed that DEPDC1B enhanced the migration, invasion, and proliferation of PCa cells in vitro and promoted tumor metastasis and growth in vivo. Mechanistic investigations clarified that DEPDC1B induced EMT and enhanced proliferation by binding to Rac1 and enhancing the Rac1‐PAK1 pathway. This DEPDC1B‐mediated oncogenic effect was reversed by a Rac1‐GTP inhibitor or Rac1 knockdown. In conclusion, we discover that the DEPDC1B‐Rac1‐PAK1 signaling pathway may serve as a multipotent target for clinical intervention in mPCa.

Atp11p and Atp12p are members of two chaperone families essential for assembly of the mitochondrial ATP synthase in Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Homo sapiens. However, the role of their homologs in higher plants is unclear with regard to the assembly of both chloroplast ATP synthase (cpATPase) and mitochondrial ATP synthase (mtATPase). Here, we show that loss of either Atp11 or Atp12 is lethal in Arabidopsis. While Atp12 is only localized in mitochondria, Atp11 is present both in chloroplasts and mitochondria. Yeast two-hybrid analyses showed that, as their homologs in yeast, Atp11 specifically interacts with the β subunit of the mtATPase and cpATPase, and Atp12 interacts with the α subunit of the mtATPase, implying that Atp11 and Atp12 fulfill a conserved task during assembly of ATP synthase. However, the binding sites for Atp11 in the β subunit of mtATPase and cpATPase are slightly different, suggesting that the mechanisms of action may have evolved in different ways. Although Atp11 interacts with cpATPase β subunit as the two assembly factors BFA3 and BFA1, they bind to different sites of the β subunit. These results indicate that Atp11 is involved in the assembly of both cpATPase and mtATPase but Atp12 is specifically required for the assembly of mtATPase in higher plants.

Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) treatment is becoming a new hope for cancer treatment. However, most prostate cancer (PCa) patients do not benefit from it. In order to achieve the accuracy of ICIs treatment in PCa and reduce unnecessary costs for patients, we have analyzed the data from TCGA database to find a indicator that can assist the choice of treatment. By analyzing the data of PCa patients with TMB analysis and immune infiltration analysis, we found the expression of immune cells in different immune infiltration groups. Commonly used markers of ICIs, expressed on CD8+ T cell, were highly expressed in the high immune group. Then we used the forimmune cytolytic activity (CYT) to determine its relationship with the target of ICIs treatment. Through the analysis of CYT score and the ligands of immune checkpoints, we found that there was a significant correlation between them. With the increase of CYT score, the expression of CD80/86, PD-L1/L2, TNFSF14, and LGALS9 also increased gradually. Similarly, CD8+ T cells were significantly increased in the CYT high group compared with the CYT low group in PRAD. The present research provides novel insights into the immune microenvironment of PRAD and potential immunotherapies. The proposed CYT score is a clinically promising indicator that can serve as a marker to assist anti-PD-L1 or other ICIs treatment. At the same time, it also provides a basis for the selection of other immune checkpoint drugs.

With the increasing attention paid to many-objective optimization in the evolutionary multi-objective optimization community, various approaches have been proposed to solve many-objective problems. However, existing experimental comparative studies are usually restricted to a few methods. Few studies have encompassed most of the recently proposed state-of-the-art approaches and made an experimental comparison. To this end, this paper offers a systematic comparison of 13 algorithms covering various categories to solve many-objective problems. The experimental comparison is conducted on three groups of test functions by using two performance metrics and a visual observation in the decision space. The experimental results demonstrate that different approaches have different search abilities. None of the test approaches outperform the others on all types of problems. However, some of the approaches are competitive on a large number of test problems. Moreover, inconsistent results from the hypervolume and the inverted generational distance metrics are revealed in this paper. Based on these comparative results, researchers can obtain useful suggestions for choosing appropriate algorithms for different problems.

Abstract Background Accurate evaluation of lymph node metastasis in bladder cancer (BCa) is important for disease staging, treatment selection, and prognosis prediction. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy of computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for metastatic lymph nodes in BCa and establish criteria of imaging diagnosis. Methods We retrospectively assessed the imaging characteristics of 191 BCa patients who underwent radical cystectomy. The data regarding size, shape, density, and diffusion of the lymph nodes on CT and/or MRI were obtained and analyzed using Kruskal–Wallis test and χ2 test. The optimal cutoff value for the size of metastatic node was determined using the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis. Results A total of 184 out of 3317 resected lymph nodes were diagnosed as metastatic lymph nodes. Among 82 imaging-detectable lymph nodes, 51 were confirmed to be positive for metastasis. The detection rate of metastatic nodes increased along with more advanced tumor stage (P 6.8 mm may indicate metastatic lymph nodes in BCa.

In order to improve the chemical leachability, the alumina-based ceramic core material with the silica fiber was injected and sintered at 1100 °C/4 h, 1200 °C/4 h, 1300 °C/4 h and 1400 °C/4 h, respectively. The micrographs of ceramic core materials at sintered and leached state were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The phase composition of ceramic core material after sintering and the leaching product after leaching were detected by X-ray diffraction (XRD). The porosity, room temperature bend strength, creep property at elevated temperature and the leaching rate in aqueous caustic solution were studied. The experimental results show that the ceramic core material with silica fiber obtain a fair balance between mechanical and chemical properties at sintering of 1300 °C/4 h. Specifically, the leach rate of ceramic core material with silica fiber is increased apparently. High leaching surface and weak adhesive strength between agglomerated alumina particles are the reasons that responsible for the ceramic core material with silica fiber be leaching fast than that of the ceramic core material without fiber.

Chloroplasts of higher plants are semi-autonomous organelles that perform photosynthesis and produce hormones and metabolites. They play crucial roles in plant growth and development. Although many seedling-lethal nuclear genes or regulators required for chloroplast development have been characterized, the understanding of chloroplast development is still limited. Using a genetic screen, we isolated a mutant named ell1, with etiolated leaves and a seedling-lethal phenotype. Analysis by BN-PAGE and transmission electron microscopy revealed drastic morphological defects of chloroplasts in ell1 mutants. Genetic mapping of the mutant gene revealed a single mutation (G-to-A) at the 5′ splice site of intron 5 in CRS1, resulting in an exon skipping in CRS1, indicating that this mutation in CRS1 is responsible for the observed phenotype, which was further confirmed by genetic analysis. The incorrectly spliced CRS1 failed to mediate the splicing of atpF intron. Moreover, the quantitative analysis suggested that ZmCRS1 may participate in chloroplast transcription to regulate the development of chloroplast. Taken together, these findings improve our understanding of the ZmCRS1 protein and shed new light on the regulation of chloroplast development in maize.

BACKGROUND: With the establishment of minimally invasive surgery in society, the robot has been increasingly widely used in the urologic field, including in partial nephrectomy. This study aimed to comprehensively summarize the currently available evidence on the feasibility and safety of robotic partial nephrectomy for renal tumors of >4 cm. METHOD AND FINDINGS: An electronic database search of PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library was performed. This systematic review and meta-analysis was based on all relevant studies that assessed robotic partial nephrectomy for renal tumors of >4 cm. Five studies were included. The meta-analysis involved 3 studies from 11 institutions including 154 patients, while the narrative review involved the remaining 2 studies from 5 institutions including 64 patients. In the meta-analysis, the mean ischemic time, operation time, and console time was 28, 319, and 189 minutes, respectively. The estimated blood loss and length of stay was 317 ml and 3.8 days, respectively. The rates of conversion, positive margins, intraoperative complications, postoperative complications, hilar clamping, and collecting system repair were 7.0%, 3.5%, 7.0%, 9.8%, 93.9%, and 47.5%, respectively. The narrative review showed results similar to those of the meta-analysis. CONCLUSIONS: Robotic partial nephrectomy is feasible and safe for renal tumors of >4 cm with an acceptable warm ischemic time, positive margin rate, conversion rate, complication rate, operation time, estimated blood loss, and length of stay.

Background: The management of oligometastatic prostate cancer, defined by its few metastatic sites, poses distinct clinical dilemmas. Debates persist regarding the most effective treatment approach, with both cytoreductive surgery and radiotherapy being key contenders. The purpose of this research is to thoroughly evaluate and compare the effectiveness of these two treatments in managing patients with oligometastatic prostate cancer. Methods: A comprehensive search of the literature was carried out to find pertinent publications that compared the results of radiation and cytoreductive surgery for oligometastatic prostate cancer. A meta-analysis was conducted in order to evaluate both short-term and long-term survival. Furthermore, utilizing institutional patient data, a retrospective cohort research was conducted to offer practical insights into the relative performances of the two treatment regimens. Results: Five relevant studies' worth of data were included for this meta-analysis, which included 1425 patients with oligometastatic prostate cancer. The outcomes showed that, in comparison to radiation, cytoreductive surgery was linked to a substantially better cancer-specific survival (CSS) [hazard ratio (HR): 0.70, 95% (CI): 0.59-0.81, P <0.001] and overall survival (OS) [HR, 0.80; 95% (CI), 0.77-0.82; P< 0.01]. The two therapy groups' Progression-Free Survival (PFS) and Castration-Resistant Prostate Cancer-Free Survival (CRPCFS), however, did not differ significantly (HR: 0.56, 95% CI: 0.17-1.06; HR: 0.67, 95% CI: 0.26-1.02, respectively). Out of the 102 patients who were recruited in the retrospective cohort research, 36 had cytoreductive surgery (CRP), 36 had radiation therapy (primary lesion), and 30 had radiation therapy (metastatic lesion). The follow-up time was 46.3 months (18.6-60.0) on average. The enhanced OS in the CRP group [OS interquartile range (IQR): 45-60 months] in comparison to the radiation group (OS IQR: 39.0-59.0 months and 25.8-55.0 months, respectively) was further supported by the cohort research. Furthermore, CRP had a better OS than both radiation (primary region) and radiotherapy (metastatic region), with the latter two therapeutic methods having similar OS. Conclusion: This meta-analysis and retrospective research provide valuable insights into the comparative efficacy of cytoreductive surgery and radiotherapy for oligometastatic prostate cancer. While short-term survival (PFS, CRPCFS) was similar between the two groups, cytoreductive surgery exhibited superior CSS and OS. Adverse event rates were manageable in both modalities. These findings contribute to informed treatment decision-making for clinicians managing oligometastatic prostate cancer patients. Further prospective studies and randomized controlled trials are essential to corroborate these results and guide personalized therapeutic approaches for this distinct subset of patients.
