Future mobility is expected to be sustainable in terms of energy production, consumption, and vehicle emissions. Embedded intelligent systems are playing a crucial role in the electrification of vehicles, their autonomy and implementation. Though electric vehicle technology is expected to lead the automotive powertrain architecture in the coming decades, various barriers currently hinder their acceptance into the automotive market. These barriers are generally categorized into battery technology, vehicle performance, charging infrastructure, consumer behavior, and government support. Hence, a detailed analysis of these barriers, especially for developing countries with minimal electric vehicle penetration is an area of concern. This article investigates the barriers and infers the comparative order of resolution for each barrier based on its priority to be identified and overcome. As consumers are the major influencers of electric vehicle demand and acceptance, barrier analysis is carried out based on their opinions. Using a Consumer Perception Survey, this article determines the influence of each barrier on potential users of electric vehicles. Fuzzy Stepwise Weight Assessment Ratio analysis and TOPSIS are implemented to allocate evaluation factors to each sub-barrier to obtain the hierarchy of priority. Furthermore, this article highlights the policies and schemes implemented in developed countries and correlates them with their electric vehicle population. The article sheds light on different measures to be taken in developing countries such as India to mitigate barriers and bridge gaps. The outcome of the literature review and consumer perception survey shows that the major factors affecting electric vehicle implementation in developing countries are the lack of charging infrastructure and high overall cost. Therefore, it is realized that such developing countries must introduce more schemes and incentives on infrastructural and operational costs to promote EV growth.

The main research problem from the usage of diesel engine arises from increased fuel prices and emissions releasing from combustion. The objective of the current work relies on finding out a suitable biodiesel blend and improving the diesel engine characteristics by means of additives. The current study discusses about the optimization of the diesel engine characteristics employing cotton seed biodiesel (CSOME) blends. CSOME 20 was found to give the better engine characteristics. Also the engine characteristics were optimized with the addition of diglyme at proportions of 10 and 15% to CSOME20. Along with further optimization was done with varying injection pressure values. It was observed that CSOME DGM 15 reduced the smoke and carbon monoxide emissions with rise in Nitrogen Oxides. BTE was recorded to be highest at 220 bar. Smoke and hydrocarbon were found to be minimum at 220 bar with maximum NOx emissions.

11th International Conference on Through-life Engineering Services � TESConf2022 8-9 November 2022, Cranfield UK The research work titled Development of Bio-Based Cutting Fluid from Roselle Oil with Titanium Dioxide Nano Additive for CNC Machine Turning Operation was carried out in in line with the global best practices of ensuring sustainable production during Computer Aided Manufacturing. Nano additive were collected in three different samples base oil 0 wt %, 0.5wt% and 1wt% of TiO2. Viscosity test was carried out using a viscometer with base oil, 0.5wt% and 1.0wt% having 3.19, 2.86 and 2.75m²/s respectively. Furthermore, the identification of unknown materials and confirmation of the sample materials were analyzed using FTIR spectroscopy with the materials being identified as carboxyl, hydroxyl, alkane, amide carboxyl and amide acid. Turning operation was carried out on a Harrison center machine with a mild steel work piece at constant depth of cut (1.5mm), constant feed rate (0.3mm) and cutting speeds at 80, 160 and 240rev/min. tool wear, surface finish, chip thickness and chip formation were analyzed. With an increase in Nano fluid concentration of 0.5wt% and 0.1wt% relative to base oil, a decrease in kinematic viscosity has been observed. In comparison to base oil and 0.5wt% TiO2, Nano fluid equal to 1.0wt% TiO2 shows enhanced results. When titanium dioxide was added instead of base oil, tool wear and surface finish are enhanced more. The percentage increase in nanoparticles, along with the observed changes in chip thickness, shape, and formation, point to the importance of nanoparticles at the tool/workpiece interface. DMG Mori

The world is moving towards a cleaner and sustainable technology, an electric car is one of them. Nowadays most of the electric cars are using manual transmission which can be converted in to semi-automatic and automatic transmission by installing an electro-pneumatic shifting mechanism. In this article, work concerning about the product design of shifter on a sequential transmission is described. The mechanism is achieved by using a pneumatic cylinder, sensors, solenoid valves, air reservoir, microcontroller and paddle shifter. The gears can be shifted either by the driver or an electronic control unit (ECU) on a real time basis. ECU takes input from the paddles attached behind the steering wheel or vehicle speed sensor and the gear is shifted by the pneumatic cylinders, controlled by a control unit through the solenoid valves. Numerical results for the automated shifting system in the vehicle show an increment of 26% in the top speed and 28% in the average power along with improved cornering velocity with respect to the vehicle without shifter. The automated shifting mechanism is much more helpful for straight line path as it changes the gears to achieve maximum acceleration in minimal time. This Electro-Pneumatic shifter setup is cost effective and gives an excellent opportunity to have a feel of driving a sports vehicle.

The biodiesel quality can be maintained by the most significant criteria called ‘Storage oxidation stability.’ The chief technical blockage related with the commercialization of biodiesel is the poor oxidation stability. The investigation of present paper involves the effects of pyrogallol (PY) antioxidant which helps to maintain the thermal stability, accelerated stability, and storage stability for a long tenure by additive concentration. For different concentrations of PY, the C–H bonds and O–H bonds regions following the biodiesel oxidation variability can be characterized by the Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. The stability for oxidation can be increased by 95.67%, stability for storage by 15.42% and stability for thermal by 71.24% were obtained by adding up of PY at 950 ppm concentration (B100P3) enhanced with biodiesel which is in pure nature. Further concentration of antioxidant leads to the deterioration of hydrophilic and hydrophobic clusters formation which is characterized by the FTIR spectrum data. From the investigation, it is came to a conclusion that by dosing 950 ppm of PY antioxidant the Alexandrian laurel biodiesel could be accumulated over a long period of time.
