In this work the photo degradation of glibinclamide is studied by UV light and different concentrations using solvents (water and ethanol) and different times. The reaction kinetic is studied and found that the photo degradation reaction of glibinclamide is (first-order) reaction and the thermodynamic properties (ΔHo, ΔSo and ΔGo) for glibinclamide were calculated and it was found to be (endothermic and spontaneous reaction).

Background: COVID-19 is a viral infection that causes pneumonia with dyspnea, cough, and fever. Its outcomes are more severe in patients with diabetes, hypertension, and other disorders than in healthy people. New-onset diabetes and diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) have been reported as the complications of COVID-19 in several studies. It seems that the prevalence of DKA due to Covid-19 is increasing. Therefore, two cases of individuals with DKA due to COVID-19 are presented in this study to inform other researchers about the details of this phenomenon. Material and Methods: Demographic characteristics, medical histories, physical examinations, laboratory investigations, real-time RT-PCR tests, computed tomography (CT) imaging studies, given treatments, clinical courses, and management outcomes were documented prospectively. Results: In the present experience, the manifestation of COVID-19 disease in the second case with a history of diabetes was more severe than in the first case. In the second case, with underlying diabetes and COVID-19, the DKA manifestation was associated with consciousness loss, severe restlessness, and respiratory distress; however, in the first case, with COVID-19 without diabetes, the DKA manifestation was associated with anorexia, weight loss, and lack of respiratory distress, which were milder symptoms than the second case. Conclusion: Due to the high prevalence of diabetes mellitus and COVID-19 in Iran, it is recommended to raise awareness of DKA symptoms among health professionals.

Group A rotavirus (RVA) is recognized as a major cause of severe gastroenteritis in newborn calves and goat kids. We estimated the proportion of ruminants infected with rotavirus and identified the circulating genotypes in cattle and goats in Bangladesh. Between May 2009 and August 2010, fecal samples were collected from 520 cattle and goats presenting with diarrhea at three government veterinary hospitals in three districts of Bangladesh. All samples were screened for RVA RNA using real-time, one-step, reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). Of the 520 animals tested, 11.7% (61) were positive for RVA RNA, with 6.2% (15/241) and 16.5% (46/279) positivity in cattle and goats, respectively. RVA positive samples were further characterized by nucleotide sequence analysis of two structural protein gene fragments, VP7 (G genotype), and VP4 (P genotype). Among 17 successfully sequenced strains, G8 (17.9%) was the most prevalent G-genotype followed by G10 (8%) and G6 (1.6%). P[1] (11.3%) was the most frequently detected P-genotype followed by P[11] (3.2%) and P[15] (1.6%). The most common VP7/VP4 combinations for cattle were G10P[11], G10P[15], and G6P[11], and for goat, G8P[1], and G10P[1]. Phylogenetic analysis of the RVA strains showed clustering with bovine and caprine strains from neighboring India. The study adds to our understanding of the genetic diversity of bovine and caprine rotavirus strains in Bangladesh. Our findings highlight the importance of rotavirus surveillance in cattle and goat populations, which may serve as a potential source for genetic reassortment and zoonotic transmission.

Aims of the study: To assess the quality of life among adolescent with type I diabetes mellitus and to identify the relationship of adolescents quality of life and their demographic data.Methodology: A cross-sectional descriptive design is carried out in AL-Sadder Medical City/ AL-Najaf Center for Diabetes and Endocrine, from September 20th, 2016 until July 5th, 2017. A Non-Probable (Purposive Sample) of (150) Diabetes Mellitus Adolescents is selected: they visited Al-Sadder Medical City at Al-Najaf Center for Diabetes and Endocrine. The data were collected through the use of well-designed questionnaire, consisting of three parts: the first part is the socio demographic data form, socio- economic status scale of the family and Anthropometric Measurement of Weight and of Height. The second part is the clinical data for adolescents that consists of (8) items. The third part is the quality of life domains that consists of (51) items. The reliability of the questionnaire was determined through a pilot study and the validity was determined through a panel of (17) experts. The data were described statistical, and analyzed through the use of descriptive statistical and inferential statistical methods.Results: the highest percent 58.0% of the adolescents was male gender; 74.7% of the adolescents have normal weight; whether the type of treatment was injection in 98.7% of adolescents; the measurement of the HbA1c was > 6.5 in 80.7 of the adolescents; mean of score for QOL was 2.22 (moderate) because the lowest scores were reported by adolescents (social and communication) domain.Conclusion: the study concluded that quality of life as moderate. Specific domains that lead to the deterioration of quality of life, including social and communication, were identified. Almost adolescents have elevated HbA1c that occur as a result of not following doctor order concerning monitoring eating regimen levels and refused frequency blood glucose monitoring. Male and late adolescent age/ were majority adolescents with T1DM.Recommendation: Instruction and educational sessions must take place thoroughly for the adolescents with Type I Diabetes Mellitus to improve their quality of life. Carbohydrate intake must be monitored, by carbohydrate calculating or the estimation based on experience. This is a key strategy for achieving glycemic control. Caregivers and school teachers should be knowledgeable about how to administer insulin based on, doctor orders in case the adolescent is incapable of personal achieve.

Zinc (Zn) is an essential micronutrient for the growth and development of plants. However, Zn deficiency is a common abiotic stress causing yield loss in crop plants. This study elucidates the mechanisms of Zn deficiency tolerance in maize through physiological and molecular techniques. Maize lines tolerant (PAC) and sensitive (DAC) to Zn deficiency were examined physiologically and by atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS). Proteins, H2 O2 , SOD, POD, membrane permeability and gene expression (using real-time PCR) of roots and shoots of both maize lines were assessed. Zn deficiency had no significant effect on root parameters compared with control plants in PAC and DAC but showed a substantial reduction in shoot parameters in DAC. AAS showed a significant decrease in Zn concentrations in both roots and shoots of DAC but not PAC under Zn deficiency, implying that Zn deficiency tolerance mechanisms exist in PAC. Consistently, total protein and membrane permeability were significantly reduced in DAC but not PAC in both roots and shoots under Zn deficiency in comparison with Zn-sufficient plants. Real-time PCR showed that expression of ZmZIP1, ZmZIP4 and ZmIRT1 transporter genes significantly increased in roots of PAC, but not in DAC due to Zn deficiency compared with controls. The H2 O2 concentration dramatically increased in roots of DAC but not PAC. Moreover, tolerant PAC showed a significant increase in POD and SOD activity due to Zn deficiency, suggesting that POD- and SOD-mediated antioxidant defence might provide tolerance, at least in part, under Zn deficiency in PAC. This study provides an essential background for improving Zn biofortification of maize.
