Strawberry diseases, occurring in Central Anatolia region of Turkey was studied in the years 2013-2016 in the strawberry growing areas of Bartın, Kayseri, Konya, and Zonguldak provinces. Totally 515.5 da strawberry fields in the above mentioned provinces were visited and plants showing disease symptoms were counted and their percentages were determined. Foliage and root diseases were determined by using 383 samples collected from various fields. Seventeen fungal pathogens: namely Alternaria alternata (Fr.) Keissler, Boeremia exigua (Desmazières) Aveskamp, Gruyter & Verkley, Mycosphaerella fragariae (Tul.) Lindau., Colletotrichum acutatum J.H. Simmonds, Colletotrichum gleosporoides (Penz.) Penz., Botrytis cinerea (de Bary) Whetzel, Lasiodiplodia theobromae (Pat.) Griffon & Maubl., Diaporthe actinidae N.F. Sommer & Beraha., Diaporthe eres Nitschke, Didymella americana Saccardo ex Saccardo, Didymella pomorum (Thümen) Aveskamp, Gruyter & Verkley, Diplodia seriata de Notaris, Macrophomina phaseolina (Tassi) Goidanich, Peyronellae prosopidis, Phytophthora cactorum (Lebert & Cohn) J.Schröter, Phytophthora plurivora Jung & Burgess., Phytophthora kelmania were identified. A. alternata, was the most frequently isolated fungus and was obtained from 41.94% of the plant samples while root rot diseases caused by various fungi occurred on 38.13% of the fields. Reactions of twelve strawberry cultivars; (Festival, Kabarla, Sweetann, Alison, Osmanlı, Kara çilek, Tüylü, Sabrina, Rubigem, San Andreas, Albion, Festival, Monterey) were tested against the three most widespread pathogen; A. alternata, M. phaseolina and L. theobromae. With the 86% disease severity, Kabarla was found the most susceptible cv. against A. alternata while Tüylü was the most susceptible cv. against M. phaseolina and L. theobromae. Only one variety, Osmanlı, showed low disease intensity against three of the pathogens., 2013-2016 yılları arasında Bartın, Kayseri, Konya ve Zonguldak illeri çilek üretim alanlarında sorun olan çilek fungal hastalıklarının tespiti ve yaygın olan fungal patojene karşı mücadele olanaklarının araştırılması hedeflenmiştir. Bu amaçlar doğrultusunda Bartın, Kayseri, Konya ve Zonguldak illerine ait 515.5 da çilek alanından alınan hastalıklı bitki örnekleri toplanarak laboratuvara getirilmiş ve bu örnekler uygun besi ortamlarına ekilerek etmenler izole edilmiştir. Çeşitli arazilerden toplanan 383 adet yaprak ve kök örneklerinden fungal etmenler izole edilmiştir. 17 fungal patojen: Alternaria alternata (Fr.) Keissler, Boeremia exigua (Desmazières) Aveskamp, Gruyter & Verkley, Mycosphaerella fragariae (Tul.) Lindau., Colletotrichum acutatum J.H. Simmonds, Colletotrichum gleosporoides (Penz.) Penz., Botrytis cinerea (de Bary) Whetzel, Lasiodiplodia theobromae (Pat.) Griffon & Maubl., Diaporthe actinidae N.F. Sommer & Beraha., Diaporthe eres Nitschke, Didymella americana Saccardo ex Saccardo, Didymella pomorum (Thümen) Aveskamp, Gruyter & Verkley, Diplodia seriata de Notaris, Macrophomina phaseolina (Tassi) Goidanich, Peyronellae prosopidis, Phytophthora cactorum (Lebert & Cohn) J.Schröter, Phytophthora plurivora Jung & Burgess., Phytophthora kelmania olarak tespit edilmiştir. Yaprak ve köklerden izole edilen bu etmenler uygun metotlarla çilek bitkilerine inokule edilerek patojenisiteleri gerçekleştirilmiştir. Patojenisitesi yapılan etmenlerden en yaygın olarak tespit edilen etmen yaprak lekesi hastalığı (A. alternata), %41.94 oranında; çeşitli fungusların sebep olduğu kök hastalıkları ise %38.13 oranında tespit edilmiştir. En yaygın bulunan 3 patojenle (A. alternata, M. phaseolina ve L. theobromae) çeşit-reaksiyon çalışmaları 12 çilek çeşidi (Festival, Kabarla, Sweetann, Alison, Osmanlı, Kara çilek, Tüylü, Sabrina, Rubigem, San Andreas, Albion, Festival, Monterey) üzerinde gerçekleştirilmiştir. Buna göre A. alternata yaprak lekesine en hassas çeşit %86 hastalık şiddetiyle Kabarla, M. phaseolina ve L. theobromae’ye karşı hassas olan çeşit ise Tüylü çilek çeşididir. Osmanlı çilek çeşidi her 3 hastalık etmenine karşı diğer çeşitlere göre daha dayanıklı bulunmuştur.

Trichoderma aggressivum f. aggressivum (yeşil küf hastalığı)’ nın kompost ya da örtü toprağında bulunması kültür mantarı (Agaricus bisporus) yetiştiriciliğinde önemli verim kayıplarına neden olmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, A. bisporus ve T. aggressivum f. aggressivum arasındaki biyotik interaksiyonların kompost ve örtü toprağında incelenmesidir. Çalışmada, A. bisporus’un ırkları (kahverengi ve beyaz) ve T. aggressivum f. aggressivum’ un izolatları (Şem1/1 ve K3) kullanılmıştır. Denemeler (kompost ve örtü toprağı) tesadüf parsellerinde faktöriyel deneme desenine göre dört tekerrürlü olarak yürütülmüştür. Her bir denemenin verim değerleri her parseldeki mantarların tartılmasıyla belirlenmiştir. Her muamelenin ortalama verim değerleri diğerleri ile kıyaslanmıştır. T. aggressivum f. aggressivum izolatlarının kompost ve örtü toprağında bulunması, A. bisporus’un her iki ırkının misel gelişmesi ve mantar oluşumlarını önemli ölçüde (P˂0.01) engellemiştir. T. aggressivum f. aggressivum izolatlarının örtü toprağında bulunması halinde, A. bisporus ırklarında ortalama verim kaybı % 36.41 olurken, T. aggressivum f. aggressivum izoltlarının kompostta bulunması halinde ise bu değer % 29.35 olmuştur. A. bisporus’un beyaz ırkında ortalama verim kaybı % 49.68 olurken, kahverengi ırkta ise verim kaybı % 16.08 olmuştur. Çalışma, T. aggressivum f. aggressivum‘un örtü toprağında bulunmasının, kompostta bulunmasına göre A. bisporus’un verimi üzerine çok daha fazla negatif etki oluşturabildiğini ve A. bisporus’un kahverengi ırkının beyaz ırka göre T. aggressivum f. aggressivum’a daha dayanıklı olduğunu ortaya koymuştur., Presence of Trichoderma aggressivum f. aggressivum (green mold disease) either in compost or casing soil causes significant yield losses in button mushroom (Agaricus bisporus) cultivation. The aim of this study was to examine biotic interactions between A. bisporus and T. aggressivum f. aggressivum in compost and casing soil. In the study, strains (brown and white) of A. bisporus and isolates (Şem1/1 and K3) of T. aggressivum f. aggressivum were used. Experiments (compost and casing soil) were conducted according to completely randomized design in factorial with four replications. Yield values of each experiment were established by weighing sporophores (mushrooms) in each plot. Mean yield values of each treatment were compared with others. Presence of the T. aggressivum f. aggressivum isolates in compost and casing soil significantly (P˂0.01) inhibited mycelial growth and fruiting body formation of both strains of A. bisporus. In the presence of the T. aggressivum f. aggressivum isolates in casing soil, average yield loss of the strains of A. bisporus was 36.41%, while it was 29.35% in the presence of the T. aggressivum f. aggressivum isolates in compost. Average yield loss of the white strain of A. bisporus was 49.68%, whereas it was 16.08% in the brown strain. The study revealed that presence of T. aggressivum f. aggressivum in casing soil could be much more negative influence on yield of A. bisporus than that of compost and brown strain of A. bisporus could be more resistant to T. aggressivum f. aggressivum than white strain.

Globe artichoke (Cynara scolymus L.) is an economically important plant that is mostly grown in Mediterranean Basin in the world. In 2016 and 2017, chlorotic spots on adaxial surface but white fungal patches abaxial surface of leaves of globe artichoke were observed in the Western Mediterranean Region of Turkey. To determine causal agent of these symptoms, leaf samples were taken sporadically in 2016, 2017 and 2020. Based on morphological and ITS sequence data, the causal agent was determined to be powdery mildew fungus Leveillula taurica (Lév.) G. Arnaud. Pathogenicity test was conducted using seedlings of globe artichoke in a greenhouse. Additionally, infections caused by the fungus were examined in a two-year field study. Several surveys were carried out according to simple random sampling method and a total of 79 farmer fields (570 da) were screened in the region. Disease incidence and prevalence of the powdery mildew in 2016 were 14.2 and 36.1%, while they were 30.1 and 53.4% in 2017, respectively. Mean disease incidence and prevalence in the both years were 22.1 and 45.5%, respectively. The disease was previously reported on globe artichoke in Italy, U.S.A., Spain and Egypt. To our knowledge, this is the first record of L. taurica causing powdery mildew on globe artichoke in Turkey and globe artichoke is a new host for L. taurica in Turkey., Enginar dünyada çoğunlukla Akdeniz havzasında yetiştirilen ekonomik olarak önemli bir bitkidir. 2016 ve 2017 yıllarında Türkiye’de Batı Akdeniz Bölgesinde enginar bitkilerinin yapraklarının üst yüzeylerinde klorotik fakat alt yüzeylerinde beyaz fungal alanlar gözlenmiştir. Bu belirtilere neden olan etmeni tespit etmek amacıyla 2016, 2017 ve 2020 yıllarında belirli aralıklarla yaprak örnekleri alınmıştır. Morfolojik ve ITS sekans verilerine dayanarak etmenin külleme fungusu Leveillula taurica (Lév.) G. Arnaud olduğu belirlenmiştir. Patojenisite testleri enginar fideleri kullanılarak serada yürütülmüştür. Ayrıca, fungusun neden olduğu enfeksiyonlar iki yıllık bir arazi çalışması ile araştırılmıştır. Hastalık surveyleri basit tesadüfi örnekleme yöntemine göre yapılmış olup toplam 79 üretici tarlası (570 dekar) bölgede incelenmiştir. 2016 yılında hastalık oranı ve yaygınlığı sırasıyla %14.2 ve %36.1 olurken 2017 yılında bunlar sırasıyla %30.1 ve %53.4 olmuştur. Her iki yılda ortalama hastalık oranı ve yaygınlığı sırasıyla %22.1 ve %45.5 olmuştur. Hastalık daha önce İtalya, A.B.D., İspanya ve Mısır’da enginarda rapor edilmiştir. Bildiğimiz kadarıyla bu, Türkiye’ de L. taurica’nın enginarda külleme hastalığının etmeni olduğuna dair ilk kayıt ve enginar L. taurica için Türkiye’de yeni bir konukçudur.

Bu tez çalışmasında, ülkemiz nar üretiminin yaklaşık %40'ının yapıldığı Antalya ve Muğla illerinde nar ağaçlarında kurumalara neden olan Phytophthora türleri belirlenmiştir. Sürvey çalışmaları toplam 1703 da alanı kapsayan 113 nar bahçesinde yapılmıştır. İncelemeler sırasında belirti gösteren ağaçlardan toplam 51 adet kök, 136 adet toprak örneği alınmıştır. 19'u kök dokularından, 79'u topraktan olmak üzere toplam 98 adet Phytophthora spp. izolatı elde edilmiştir. Phytophthora türleri, morfolojik özelliklerine ve DNA dizilerine dayanılarak teşhis edilmişlerdir. En sık izole edilen türler P. nicotianae (37 izolat) ve P. palmivora (26 izolat) olmuş, onları sırasıyla P. parvispora (14 izolat), P. inundata (6 izolat), P. cryptogea (4 izolat), P. niederhauserii (4 izolat), P. taxon walnut (2 izolat) ve P. rosacearum (1 izolat) izlemiştir. 4 izolatın ise teşhisleri doğrulanamamıştır. P. nicotianae, P. palmivora, P. parvispora ve P. inundata hem köklerden hem de topraktan izole edilirken, diğer türler sadece topraktan elde edilmişlerdir. Hastalık oranı Antalya ili için %4.49, Muğla ili için ise %5.03 olarak belirlenmiştir. Toprak bulaştırma yöntemine göre yapılan patojenisite testinde, tüm izolatlar nar fidanlarında %20-85 arasında değişen oranlarda hastalığa yol açmışlardır. Bu çalışma, P. palmivora dışındaki diğer türlerin nar ağaçlarında kök ve kökboğazı çürüklüğü yaptığına ilişkin dünya genelindeki ilk kayıttır. Çalışmada ayrıca 10 farklı nar çeşidinin, en yaygın türler olarak belirlenen P. nicotianae ve P. palmivora'ya karşı duyarlılıkları araştırılmıştır. Hicaznar, Katırbaşı, Aşınar, Fellahyemez, İzmir 1513, İzmir 23, BATEM Esinnar, BATEM Hicrannar, BATEM Yılmaznar ve BATEM Onurnar çeşitlerinin kullanıldığı deneme, patojenisite testinde olduğu gibi toprak bulaştırma yöntemine göre yapılmıştır. Deneme sonunda tüm çeşitlerin patojenlere duyarlı olduğu ve P. nicotianae'nın P. palmivora'ya göre daha saldırgan olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır. In this study, Phytophthora species which cause drying in pomegranate trees in Antalya and Muğla provinces where approximately 40% of our country's pomegranate production is made has been determined. Surveys were carried out in 113 pomegranate orchards covering 1703 da. A total of 51 root and 136 soil samples were taken from symptomatic trees. A total of 98 isolates of Phytophthora spp. were obtained from 19 root tissues and 79 soil samples. Phytophthora species were identified based on their morphological characteristics and DNA sequences. Disease incidences were determined as 4.49 %and 5.03% in Antalya and Muğla provinces, respectively. In the pathogenicity test performed with soil infestation method, all isolates caused root rot in pomegranate seedlings ranging from 20% to 85%. This is the first report of all species with the exception of P. palmivora, causing root and collar rot of pomegranate trees worldwide.In addition, the susceptibility of 10 different pomegranate cultivars to P. nicotianae and P. palmivora, which were determined as the most common species, were investigated. Bu çalışmada,2013-2014 yılları arasında OrtaAnadolu Bölgesi’nde kiraz (Prunus avium L.) ağaçlarında kuruma ve geriyeölümlere neden olan Leucostoma kanseri hastalık etmeni Leucostoma spp.’nin tespiti, bölgemizdeki yaygınlığınınbelirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Çalışma, Afyon, Ankara, Konya ve Ispartaillerine ait 8 ilçede yürütülmüştür. Bu illere ait toplam 79 kiraz bahçesinden304 adet Leucostoma spp. izolatı elde edilmiştir. Sürvey sonuçlarına göre Leucostoma kanseri hastalık yaygınlık oranı en çok %61.29 ileAnkara ili kiraz bahçelerinde tespit edilmiştir. Isparta ilinde %38.39 ve Afyonilinde %21.03 bulunmuştur. En az yaygınlık oranı %5.82 ile Konya ilinde tespitedilmiştir. Leucostoma kanseri hastalığının Orta Anadolu Bölgesi’nde bulunankiraz ağaçlarındaki hastalık yaygınlık oranı %21.25 olarak belirlenmiştir., Bu çalışmada, kiraz (Prunus avium L.)ağaçlarında kuruma ve geriye ölüm problemine neden olan Sitospora kanserineneden olan Cytospora türlerinintespitii, bölgemizdeki yaygınlığının belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Sürvey, 2013-2014yıllarında kirazbahçelerinde Lazarov (1961) yöntemine göre yapılmıştır. Afyon, Ankara, Konya ve Ispartaillerine ait 8 ilçe ve 79 bahçeden toplam 304 adet bitki örneği alınmıştır.Alınan örneklerden 304 adet Cytosporaspp. izolatı elde edilmiştir. Tüm kültürler eğik agar ortamına alınarak +4°C’de buzdolabında saklanmıştır. Sürvey sonuçlarına göre her bahçeiçin hastalıklı ağaç yüzdeleri bulunduktan sonra tartılı ortalama ile o bölgeyeait hastalığın yaygınlık oranları bulunmuştur. Sitospora kanseri hastalıkyaygınlık oranı Afyon ilinde % 21,03, Ankara ilinde % 61,29, Konya ilinde %5,82 ve Isparta ilinde % 38,39 ve olarak bulunmuştur. Verilere göre bölgemizdeSitospora kanseri hastalık yaygınlık oranı % 21,25 olarak belirlenmiştir.

WOS: 000440740600021 This study was conducted in order to determine the in vitro and in vivo efficacy of some chemicals against Phytophthora nicotianae, which is one among the Phytophthora spp. that are responsible for tomato root and crown rot disease. We tested various active substances against this disease pathogen. In the experiment, varied concentrations of "metalaxyl 35%", "fludioxonil 25 g/L + metalaxyl-M 10 g/L", "ametoctradin 300 g/L + dimethomorph 225 g/L", "hymexazol 360 g/L" and "tolclofos methyl 30% + thiram 30%" active substances were used. In in vitro studies, EC50/EC90 values that inhibited sporangium formation and mycelium growth of P. nicotianae was calculated separately for each active substance. In pot experiments, application doses of active substances were applied to tomato seedlings and the active substance that prevents the disease best was determined. As a result of in vitro studies, "metalaxyl 35%" provided the lowest EC50/EC90 concentration that prevents mycelium growth by 50% and 90%. The lowest EC50/EC90 concentration values that decreased the sporangium formation by 50% and 90% were obtained from "ametoctradin 300 g/L + dimethomorph 225 g/L." Sphaeropsis sapinea tip blight is one ofthe most destructive fungal diseases of pine trees in the world. It causes shoot blight, canker, collar rot, root diseaseand blue stain of Pinus spp. As a result of surveysperformed in the parks, recreation areas and groves in Istanbul and Bursaprovinces in January, June and October 2015, it was observed that the agentespecially causes disease on Pinusspp. Thedisease was observed as dead, brown needles at the tips of branches, shootblight and cankers on pine stems and branches. Twenty eight diseased pine samples were collected from parks, recreationareas and groves. Totally15 Sphaeropsis sapinea isolates wereobtained. Cultural andmorphological characteristics of the isolates were determined using culturesgrown on potato dextrose agar (PDA).Cultures on PDA were initially whitewith profuse aerial mycelia that after one week turned grey to blackish. Identificationof the pathogen was based on morphological characteristics of the conidia and DNA sequence analysis. Genomic DNA wasextracted and the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) region of the rDNA wasamplified using primers ITS1 and ITS 4. Pathogenicity tests were made with twiginoculation method. All isolates formed lesions on twigs.

The main disease ofwalnut is anthracnose caused by Gnomonialeptostyla (Fr.) Ces et de Not. The disease is very destructive when theconditions are favorable for disease growth. This study was conducted inOğuzlar district of Çorum province, one of the largest walnut growing regionsof Turkey from 2005 to 2011. Biological parameters (phenological stage ofwalnut, the dates of perithecia maturing and infection, climate etc.) tocontrol the disease were obtained during the study. Walnut trees were damaged dueto the late spring frost in 2006 and hail in 2007, and their effects continuedin 2008. During these years, yield was low in trees and the trees turned tovegetative growth. According to years, perithecia matured from March 21 toApril 6; primer infections occurred from April 17 to May 8; seconder infectionshappened from May 15 to June 12. These stages were beginning to burst of buds,and cat ear stage; the stage when the leaves passed half the size; the stagewhen the fruits were big hazelnut, respectively., Cevizin anahastalığı Gnomonia leptostyla (Fr.)Ces et de Not.’nın neden olduğu antraknozdur. Hastalık için uygun koşullaroluştuğunda etmen oldukça tahripkârdır. Bu çalışma, ülkemizin önemli cevizüretim bölgelerinden biri olan Çorum ilinin Oğuzlar ilçesindeki bir cevizbahçesinde, 2005-2011 yılları arasında yürütülmüştür. Çalışma süresincehastalığın mücadelesine yönelik biyolojik parametreler (cevizin fenolojikdönemi, peritesyum olgunlaşma ve enfeksiyon tarihleri, iklimsel veriler gibi)elde edilmiştir. Çalışmaların yapıldığı 2006 yılında ilkbahar geç donlarından,2007 yılında ise dolu zararından kaynaklanan olumsuzluklar 2008 yılında daetkisini sürdürmüştür. Bu dönemde ağaçlarda meyve tutumu çok az olmuş veağaçlar vejetatif büyümeye yönelmiştir. Yıllara göre değişmekle birlikteperitesyum olgunlaşması 21 Mart-6 Nisan; primer enfeksiyonlar 17 Nisan-8 Mayıs;sekonder enfeksiyonlar ise 15 Mayıs-12 Haziran tarihleri arasındagerçekleşmiştir. Bu dönemler sırasıyla,tomurcukların patlamaya başlaması ve kedi kulağı, yapraklardaki yaprakçıklarınyarı büyüklüğünü geçtiği, meyvelerin iri fındık büyüklüğünde olduğu fenolojikdönemlere karşılık gelmiştir.

Phytophthora cactorum (Lebert & John) Schröeter is the most widespread plant pathogen causing root and crown rot of apple worldwide, also in Turkey. Effect of different concentrations of some fungicides against mycelial growth of P. cactorum in culture medium was studied in 2011. EC50 values of the fungicides for two pathogen isolates were 3.6 and 3.7 µg/ml of Metalaxyl-M+Mancozeb, 8 and 12 µg/ml of Captan, 25 and 26 µg/ml of Hymexazol, 92 and 99 µg/ml of Fosetyl-Al, 83 and 112 µg/ml of Phosphorous Acid, 1023 and 2660 µg/ml of Propamocarb+Fosetyl-Propil. Effect of some fungicides against root and crown rot disease caused by P. cactorum was evaluated on apple rootstocks of MM.106 grown in artificially infested soil in 2012. Hymexazol, Captan, Trichoderma harzianum and Metalaxyl-M+Mancozeb caused 21.66%, 26.66%, 33.33% and 58.33% inhibition respectively, whereas Fosetyl-Al and Phosphorous Acid provided 100% inhibition of P. cactorum infection on the roots of apple rootstocks., Tüm dünyada ve ülkemizde elma ağaçlarında kök ve kökboğazı çürüklüğüne neden olan en yaygın etmen Phytophthora cactorum (Lebert & John) Schröeter’dur. P. cactorum’un neden olduğu elmada kök ve kökboğazı çürüklüğü hastalığına karşı bazı fungisitlerin etkileri, içerisinde yapay olarak bulaştırılmış toprak bulunan saksılarda geliştirilen MM.106 elma anaçları üzerinde 2012 yılında araştırılmıştır. P. cactorum’un elma anaçlarının köklerinde neden olduğu enfeksiyona karşı ortalama olarak Hymexazol %21.66, Captan %26.66, Trichoderma harzianum %33.33, Metalaxyl-M+Mancozeb %58.33 etkili olurken, Fosetyl-Al ve Fosforoz Asidi enfeksiyonu önlemede %100 etkili bulunmuştur.

Decline symptoms were observed on young almond treesin commercial orchards of Adıyaman province of Turkey in 2013. Symptoms inaffected trees included yellowing of foliage, cankers on roots, crowns and stembase, and dieback. An isolate of Phytophthorasp. was consistently isolated from necrotic tissues from taproots and crowns ofsymptomatic trees. The pathogen was identified as Phytophthora megaspermabased on morphological features and DNA sequence of the internal transcribedspacer (ITS) region. Pathogenicity of the isolates was tested by shoot and steminoculation, as well as soil infestation on almond saplings. Typical cankerlesions developed on excised shoots after two weeks. Lesions also occurred onstems of scion and rootstock four weeks later. At the end of the soilinfestation test, cankers covered the whole roots four months afterinoculation. Eleven isolates of P.megasperma were assayed for sensitivity to mefenoxam. All isolates werefound to be sensitive to mefenoxam with EC50 values less than 1 μgmL-1.
