In this paper, a heuristic for a heterogeneous min-max multi-vehicle multi-depot traveling salesman problem is proposed, wherein heterogeneous vehicles start from given depot locations and need to cover a given set of targets. In the considered problem, vehicles can be structurally heterogeneous due to different vehicle speeds and/or functionally heterogeneous due to different vehicle-target assignments originating from different sensing capabilities of vehicles. The proposed heuristic for the considered problem has three stages: an initialization stage to generate an initial feasible solution, a local search stage to improve the incumbent solution by searching through different neighborhoods, and a perturbation/shaking stage, wherein the incumbent solution is perturbed to break from a local minimum. In this study, three types of neighborhood searches are employed. Furthermore, two different methods for constructing the initial feasible solution are considered, and multiple variations in the neighborhoods considered are explored in this study. The considered variations and construction methods are evaluated on a total of 128 instances generated with varying vehicle-to-target ratios, distribution for generating the targets, and vehicle-target assignment and are benchmarked against the best-known heuristic for this problem. Two heuristics were finally proposed based on the importance provided to objective value or computation time through extensive computational studies.

The recent mass ($0.77 \pm ^{0.20}_{0.17}M_{\odot}$) and radius ($10.4\pm^{0.86}_{0.78} \text{km}$) measurement of HESS J1731-347 made it one of the most fascinating object if it is indeed a neutron star. In this work, we examine the current status of the dense matter equation of states in the context of this compact object being a neutron star. We use three sets of equation of states corresponding to the three classes - neutron stars, strange stars, and hybrid stars and perform Bayesian model selection on them. Our results show that for hadronic models, the EoS is preferred to be stiff at the intermediate densities. This makes the Brueckner-Hartree-Fock approximation and models based on Effective-interactions deviate from current astrophysical observations on the inclusion of HESS J1731-347. Furthermore, for the strange star family, the equation of states composed of three flavor quarks prefers relatively smaller bag parameters. Analyzing the hybrid family of equation of states consisting of a first-order phase transition revealed preferences for early first-order phase transition. We establish several fine boundary regularity results of weak solutions to non-homogeneous $s$-fractional Laplacian type equations. In particular, we prove sharp Calder\'on-Zygmund type estimates of $u/d^s$ depending on the regularity assumptions on the associated kernel coefficient including VMO, Dini continuity or the H\"older continuity, where $u$ is a weak solution to such a nonlocal problem and $d$ is the distance to the boundary function of a given domain. Our analysis is based on point-wise behaviors of maximal functions of $u/d^s$.

The prevalence of sexual deepfake material has exploded over the past several years. Attackers create and utilize deepfakes for many reasons: to seek sexual gratification, to harass and humiliate targets, or to exert power over an intimate partner. In tandem with this growth, several markets have emerged to support the buying and selling of sexual deepfake material. In this paper, we systematically characterize the most prominent and mainstream marketplace, MrDeepFakes. We analyze the marketplace economics, the targets of created media, and user discussions of how to create deepfakes, which we use to understand the current state-of-the-art in deepfake creation. Our work uncovers little enforcement of posted rules (e.g., limiting targeting to well-established celebrities), previously undocumented attacker motivations, and unexplored attacker tactics for acquiring resources to create sexual deepfakes.

In this paper, motion planning for a vehicle moving on a unit sphere with unit speed is considered, wherein the desired terminal location is fixed, but the terminal orientation is free. The motion of the vehicle is modeled to be constrained by a maximum geodesic curvature $U_{max},$ which controls the rate of change of heading of the vehicle such that the maximum heading change occurs when the vehicle travels on a tight circular arc of radius $r = \frac{1}{\sqrt{1 + U_{max}^2}}$. Using Pontryagin's Minimum Principle, the main result of this paper shows that for $r \leq \frac{1}{2}$, the optimal path connecting a given initial configuration and a final location on the sphere belongs to a set of at most seven paths. In this paper, motion planning for a Dubins vehicle on a unit sphere to attain a desired final location is considered. The radius of the Dubins path on the sphere is lower bounded by $r$. In a previous study, this problem was addressed, wherein it was shown that the optimal path is of type $CG, CC,$ or a degenerate path of the same for $r \leq \frac{1}{2}.$ Here, $C = L, R$ denotes an arc of a tight left or right turn of minimum turning radius $r,$ and $G$ denotes an arc of a great circle. In this study, the candidate paths for the same problem are generalized to model vehicles with a larger turning radius. In particular, it is shown that the candidate optimal paths are of type $CG, CC,$ or a degenerate path of the same for $r \leq \frac{\sqrt{3}}{2}.$ Noting that at most two $LG$ paths and two $RG$ paths can exist for a given final location, this article further reduces the candidate optimal paths by showing that only one $LG$ and one $RG$ path can be optimal, yielding a total of seven candidate paths for $r \leq \frac{\sqrt{3}}{2}.$ Additional conditions for the optimality of $CC$ paths are also derived in this study.

After the discovery of ferroelectricity in HfO$_2$ based thin films a decade ago, ferroelectric Hf$_{0.5}$Zr$_{0.5}$O$_2$ (HZO) thin films are frequently being utilized in the CMOS (Complementary Metal- Oxide Semiconductor) and logic devices, thanks to their large remnant polarization, high retention and endurance. A great deal of effort has been made towards understanding the origin of ferroelectricity in epitaxial HZO thin films and controlling the microstructure at the atomic level which governs the ferroelectric phase. Nevertheless, the HZO films still suffer from fundamental questions, such as (1) the vagueness of interfacial mechanisms between HZO, buffer layer and the substrate which controls the polar phase; (2) the nature of the metastable polar phase responsible for the ferroelectricity, be it orthorhombic or rhombohedral; which are poorly understood. Here, we have addressed these issues by employing the in-situ reflection high energy electron diffraction -- assisted pulsed laser deposition and mapping the asymmetrical polar maps on high quality HZO films grown on functional perovskite oxide substrates. The interface between La$_{0.7}$Sr$_{0.3}$MnO$_3$ (LSMO) and the substrate is shown to be quite important, and a slightly rougher interface of the former destabilizes the ferroelectric phase of HZO irrespective of well-controlled growth of the ferroelectric layers. A rhombohedral-like symmetry of HZO unit cell is extracted through the x-ray diffraction asymmetrical polar maps. The ferroelectric measurements on a nearly 7 nm HZO film on STO(001) substrate display a remnant polarization close to 8 uC/cm$^2$. These results highlight the complexities involved at the atomic scale interface in the binary oxides thin films and can be of importance to the HfO$_2$-based ferroelectric community which is still at its infancy.

Proto-neutron stars have both high-density and relatively high-temperature in them. This study analyses how the equation of state changes with temperature, which is relevant for proto-neutron stars. We determine an equation of state for the proto-neutron stars in the relativistic mean field model in which the coupling parameters are density-dependent. The equation of state considerably affects the mass-radius curve, thereby affecting the f-mode oscillation frequency. Temperature makes the equation of state stiffer at relatively low and intermediate densities, thereby making the star less compact and the mass-radius curve flatter. The f-mode frequency for low and intermediate-mass neutron stars decreases with temperature and thus should be easier to detect. The universal relation (connecting f-mode frequency, mass and radius) changes non-linearly with temperature. The parameters defining the universal relation ($\omega M = a(T) \left(\frac{M}{R}\right) + b(T)$) becomes temperature dependent with the coefficients following a parabolic relation with temperature., Comment: 11 pages, 5 figures

Joint injuries, and their long-term consequences, present a substantial global health burden. Wearable prophylactic braces are an attractive potential solution to reduce the incidence of joint injuries by limiting joint movements that are related to injury risk. Given human motion and ground reaction forces, we present a computational framework that enables the design of personalized braces by optimizing the distribution of microstructures and elasticity. As varied brace designs yield different reaction forces that influence kinematics and kinetics analysis outcomes, the optimization process is formulated as a differentiable end-to-end pipeline in which the design domain of microstructure distribution is parameterized onto a neural network. The optimized distribution of microstructures is obtained via a self-learning process to determine the network coefficients according to a carefully designed set of losses and the integrated biomechanical and physical analyses. Since knees and ankles are the most commonly injured joints, we demonstrate the effectiveness of our pipeline by designing, fabricating, and testing prophylactic braces for the knee and ankle to prevent potentially harmful joint movements.

In this work, we present a comparative study between continuous-wave (CW) and pulsed optical tweezers for 250 nm, 500 nm and 1-micron radius polystyrene beads at 5 different laser powers. We have used a Ti:Sapphire (MIRA 900F) laser that can be easily switched from CW to pulsed mode of operation, so there is no change in the experimental conditions in the two cases. We have measured the difference in the trap strength in both cases by fitting the power spectrum curve with Lorentzian. As it turns out, trapping with pulsed tweezers seems to be more effective for the smaller particles and as the particle size is increased both CW and pulsed tweezers appear to be equally effective at lower average laser powers but as the power is increased pulsed tweezers do a better job at stable trapping.

In this article, two methods of addressing path planning for a Dubins vehicle moving on a sphere are considered, wherein either spherical coordinates or a moving frame are considered to describe the vehicle's motion. The primary contribution of this article is to show the equivalence of these two approaches, which in turn shows that the results known for the moving frame-based description transfer to the model utilizing spherical coordinates.

We present a novel approach to data preparation for developing multilingual Indic large language model. Our meticulous data acquisition spans open-source and proprietary sources, including Common Crawl, Indic books, news articles, and Wikipedia, ensuring a diverse and rich linguistic representation. For each Indic language, we design a custom preprocessing pipeline to effectively eliminate redundant and low-quality text content. Additionally, we perform deduplication on Common Crawl data to address the redundancy present in 70% of the crawled web pages. This study focuses on developing high-quality data, optimizing tokenization for our multilingual dataset for Indic large language models with 3B and 7B parameters, engineered for superior performance in Indic languages. We introduce a novel multilingual tokenizer training strategy, demonstrating our custom-trained Indic tokenizer outperforms the state-of-the-art OpenAI Tiktoken tokenizer, achieving a superior token-to-word ratio for Indic languages.
