Purpose: This study aims to evaluate the reliability and validity of the Turkish version of the Subjective Health Complaints (SHC) inventory, which can be used to monitor health complaints experienced by the hospital support staff.Materials and Methods: In this methodological study, data were collected from 240 hospital support staff working in five different hospitals in Turkey. Participants were asked demographic questions and administered a Turkish translated SHC inventory. Construct validity was confirmed using exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis. Internal consistency was assessed by calculating the Cronbach’s alpha and split-half reliability coefficients. Results: The Turkish SHC inventory with 29 items showed acceptable content validity, construct validity, and internal consistency reliability (Cronbach’s alpha = 0.905). Confirmatory factor analysis confirmed the original fivedimensional structure of the scale. Model fit indices implied a good model-data fit: the normed chi-square value of 1.488 (χ2 = 513.423, df=345); error of root mean square approximation of 0.045; comparative fit index of 0.939 and standardized root mean square residuals of 0.060. Conclusion: The findings assert the reliability and validity of the Turkish SHC inventory, and recommend its use as a suitable tool for monitoring health complaints experienced by health service workers.

School health services started as a movement that emerged when public health nurses saw the health needs of schools and intervened. This movement, first seen in England and France, was first seen in America in the nineteenth century and in Turkey with the establishment of the republic. Wars, migration, industrialization, and poverty have all led to the need for school health services. Public health nurses have made important contributions to school health through home visits, regular check-ups, and accurate health records. This has resulted in governments and voluntary organizations recognizing the need for nurses to maintain school health and appointing nurses in schools. In countries where school health services have developed, nurses are at the forefront in planning and implementing health promotion programs. Most nurses can provide health services alone to one or more schools. These nurses receive certification training after their undergraduate education and renew their certifications for a certain period of time. Although there are various regulations in school nursing legislation in Turkey, there are some issues that need to be solved. In this article, the development of school nursing, with examples from around the world and from Turkey, and school nursing services in Turkey are examined.

Purpose: This study was conducted to examine the relationship between anger level and anger expression styles with the socio-demographic factors of municipal bus drivers. Materials and Methods: The study was carried out with 95 bus drivers. The data were collected by means of question forms, State-trait anger, and anger expression scales. Results: The mean score were found to be: Trait anger 16.67±4.29, anger-in 15.05±3.31, anger management 25.12±4.97, and the anger-out 12.48±2.94. There is also a significant relationship between receiving anger management training and anger-out. There is a positive significant relationship between smoking duration (years) and anger control, years at work and anger-out. As being in consistency with other studies, the study has revealed that while the level of professional experiences increases the level of anger is decreased and when the years of working is higher in an institution, anger can be expressed more easily. The reflection of the problems at work as anger in the family life is a different subject examined. Conclusion: This study provides evidence of sociodemographic characteristics affecting the level of anger and anger expression of drivers. The results of the study can be taken into account when planning interventions for bus drivers in terms of expressing anger correctly and anger control. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose This study aims to compare the anxiety levels of COVID‐19 patients, individuals under quarantine, and healthy individuals in society. Design and Methods This cross‐sectional study was conducted from May 25, 2020 to June 25, 2020 in a city located in the northwest of Turkey. The data were collected using a personal information form, the Beck Anxiety Scale, administered in face‐to‐face interviews, and online questionnaires. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Kruskal–Wallis, Mann–Whitney U, and logistic regression analyses. Findings The anxiety level of individuals under quarantine (Median: min–max = 1: 0–55) was significantly lower statistically compared to that of the rest of the society (Median: min–max = 6: 0–63) and hospitalized COVID‐19 patients (Median: min–max = 5: 0–42) (p = 0.0001). Female gender, being 61 years of age and older, having psychiatric and chronic illnesses, and experiencing disrupted sleep patterns were determined to be the factors associated with high levels of anxiety. Practice Implications This study found that society in general and hospitalized COVID‐19 patients had high anxiety levels. The study results can be useful for creating training and population‐based screening programs to control the anxiety of individuals under quarantine, hospitalized COVID‐19 patients, and the rest of the society during the pandemic. Additionally, the finding from this study on groups at risk for anxiety will provide important data for future research on this subject and for the planning of health services offered to these groups.

WOS:000579120800012 Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between certain risk factors and the daytime sleepiness of high school students. Materials and Methods: This is a descriptive-relational study, which was conducted on 2490 high school students between March 1 and April 30, 2019. The data was collected using a prepared questionnaire and the Epworth Sleepiness scale was used to evaluate the status of students' daytime sleepiness. A statistical analysis was then carried out using the number, percentage, mean, standard deviation chi-square analysis and logistic regression analysis (enter method). Results: According to the Epworth Sleepiness scale score, daytime sleepiness of the high school students involved in this study was borderline, with the risk factors determining this daytime sleepiness being low socioeconomic statute of families, aged between 17 and 19, perception of school success as middle-poor, as well as spending three or more hours watching television. Conclusion: In order to prevent daytime sleepiness in high school students, students should spend less time watching television, there should be interdisciplinary cooperation initiatives implemented in relation to the socioeconomic factors and informative studies involving students, with families and teachers having lessons with the school nurses to help identify daytime sleepiness and learn about the measures that can be implemented to prevent this daytime sleepiness in the future.

Araştırma sonuçları öfkeyi doğru ifade edebilme ve öfke kontrolü konusunda otobüs şoförlerine yönelik müdahaleler planlarken dikkate alınabilir., Purpose: This study was conducted to examine the relationship between anger level and anger expression styles with the socio-demographic factors of municipal bus drivers. Materials and Methods: The study was carried out with 95 bus drivers. The data were collected by means of question forms, State-trait anger, and anger expression scales. Results: The mean score were found to be: Trait anger 16,67±4,29, anger-in 15,05±3,31, anger management 25,12±4,97, and the anger-out 12,48±2,94. Conclusion: This study provides evidence of socio-demographic characteristics affecting the level of anger and anger expression of drivers. The results of the study can be taken into account when planning interventions for bus drivers in terms of expressing anger correctly and anger control.

ERPA International Congress on Education (ERPA) -- JUN 06-08, 2014 -- Istanbul Univ, Istanbul, TURKEY WOS:000348253300087 This study was conducted to determine the suitability of applying the Omaha System to the occupational health problems experienced by nurses working in hospitals. The Omaha System is a system which will facilitate the use of a standard common language in occupational health nursing applications. This semi-experimental study was conducted with two follow ups. The first follow up evaluations were carried out in a private hospital with 175 nurses out of a total of 208 nurses. The second follow-up occurred with the evaluation of 162 nurses out of a total number of 187. All nurses were scheduled to take part in the study. In between follow-up sessions, at least three interviews were conducted with the nurses experiencing problems, and applications and evaluations for the occupational environment were also carried out. Their problems were assessed according to the Omaha System. Surveillance initiatives were implemented in the nursing interventions for all diagnostic areas, and most of the nursing diagnoses were concentrated within the physiological domain. For nurses working in hospitals, the Omaha System was found to be useful in nursing diagnoses, interventions and evaluations within the practice of occupational health nursing. (C) 2014 The Authors.
