2. Cigarette smoke uptake by different woven fabrics: Analysis of mechanical and colour properties.

Although the impact of smoking tobacco on human health is well understood, less is known about the effects of tobacco smoke on cotton, viscose and polyamide fabrics. In this study, tobacco smoke was applied to fabric samples to investigate the effects of tobacco smoke on their mechanical and colour properties. For this purpose, tobacco smoke was pumped into a mechanism consisting of a glass box, in which cotton, viscose and polyamide fabrics were placed in a suspended position. The fabric samples were treated with tobacco smoke for 1 or 2 months. The samples were evaluated in terms of tensile and tear strength, elongation at break, as well as pilling and abrasion resistance values. A colour measurement test was used to investigate the withering effect of tobacco smoke, and Fourier Transfer–Infrared analysis was performed to examine the chemical changes. The tensile strength values in the warp direction were 419.34, 404.62 and 421.78 N without treatment and after 1 and 2 months of tobacco smoke treatment, respectively, for the cotton woven fabric. Furthermore, for woven cotton fabric, the L* value decreased from 93.8 to 78.7 after being treated with tobacco smoke for 2 months. As a result of this study, it was determined that tobacco smoke has no effect on the tensile strength properties of fabrics, causes changes to pilling and abrasion resistance values, and adversely affects the colour properties of fabrics. 6. Investigation of Outsourcing Usage Rates in the Production Processes of Apparel Companies

Outsourcing is one of the methods frequently used by labor-intensive sectors such as the garment industry and has many advantages for companies. There are many reasons leading companies to use outsourcing such as "focusing on basic skills, reducing cost, increasing flexibility". Outsourcing was a method used by the companies primarily for the purpose of carrying out the activities which are out of their specialty. Later, companies started to use outsourcing for their all processes, especially because of their cost advantage. In this study, a survey was conducted to investigate the outsourcing usage rates in the production processes of apparel companies and the data obtained were evaluated. Research results have shown that apparel companies are still using outsourcing more intensively in processes related tooutside their specialties.

Companies have to develop new methods and techniques to increase their profitability and to be able to stand in a competitive environment. Outsourcing is one of those methods. Outsourcing is a method used by almost every business today. In the beginning, the main purpose of using outsourcing was to have other companies carry out processes that are outside of the company's expertise. However, the latest global developments pushed companies to use outsourcing outside of this purpose. Thus, companies started to use outsourcing frequently for other reasons such as cost reduction, increasing flexibility, increasing productivity. In this study, firstly, the operations of apparel companies do through outsourcing and their purposes in doing this was investigated. The results show that the apparel companies started to use outsourcing for printing and embroidering process.

There are several factors affecting fabric usage efficiency, one of them is fabric properties. The usage of different fabrics for production of the same product increases or decreases the amount of fabric needed, which affects the cost of the product. In this study, effect of fabric properties on the fabric usage efficiency was investigated. For the application processes, 3 different fabrics properties and 3 different garments were used and totally 9 marker plans were prepared. By analyzing the prepared marker plans fabric usage ratios were obtained and effect of fabric properties on the fabric usage efficiency was investigated.

Local and international competition, economic crisis and lack of resources have prompted companies to look for different ways. Because of that, instead of performing all of the production functions, the companies concentrated on some of them and started to realize most of them through outsourcing. As a result, large manufacturing companies have been transformed into small workshops and are generally focused on management functions. The most important factor in the realization of this is outsourcing, and the companies continue to carry out their production activities with fewer employees, higher production volumes, cheaper and lower risks. Outsourcing provides great benefits for companies. In this study, a survey was conducted to investigate the benefits of outsourcing for apparel companies and the data obtained were evaluated. Research results have shown that the most important benefits of outsourcing today are “reducing costs”, “overcoming the demands beyond capacity”.

İş etüdünün iki temel bileşeninden biri olan metot analizi, özellikle mevcut işgücü ve makinelerle, herhangi bir yatırıma ihtiyaç duyulmaksızın daha verimli üretimin gerçekleştirilebilmesi için uygulanan en etkili yöntemlerden birisidir. Bu çalışmada bluz dikim bandında gerçekleştirilen operasyonlar eleştirel bir gözle incelenmiş ve 4 operasyon üzerinde yapılan metot analizi çalışmalarının sonuçları verilmiştir. Daha sonra mevcut durumdaki operasyon süreleri ile metot analizi çalışmaları sonucunda elde edilen operasyon süreleri dikkate alınarak Konum Ağırlık Yöntemi ile montaj hattı dengelemesi yapılmıştır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, metot analizinin üretim hacmi ve montaj hattı verimliliği üzerine etkisini incelemek ve metot analizi çalışmalarının önemine vurgu yapmaktır, Method study which is one of the two basic elements of work study is the most effective methods that are used to produce more effectively with current machines and labor without any need for investment. In this research, the operations in blouse sewing line are analyzed critically and the results of method study which is applied on four operations are investigated. Following that, assembly line balancing is conducted by using Ranked Positional Weight Method considering operation durations which are obtained from method study and current operation times. Bu çalışmada ultrasonik yöntemle birleştirilmiş nonwoven kumaşların mekanik özellikleri incelenmiştir. Bu amaçla 3 farklı gramajda polipropilen, poliester ve poliester – viskon nonwoven kumaş kullanılmıştır. Ardından nonwoven kumaşlar birbirleriyle ultrasonik dikiş makinesiyle birleştirilmiş ve 2 katmanlı yapılar üretilmiştir. Ayrıca iki nonwoven kumaş arasına polietilen film yerleştirilerek bu 3 yüzey ultrasonik dikiş makinesiyle birleştirilmiş ve 3 katmanlı yapılar üretilmiştir. 2 ve 3 katlı yapıların kopma dayanımı ve kopma anındaki uzama özellikleri araştırılmıştır ve polietilen filmin 3 katmanlı yapıların mekanik özelliklerine etkisi incelenmiştir. En yüksek mekanik özellikler 3 katmanlı polipropilen – polietilen film – polipropilen yapısında elde edilmiştir, In this study mechanical properties of the ultrasonically bonded nonwoven fabrics were investigated. For this purpose polypropylene, polyester and polyester-viscose nonwoven fabrics which have three different fabric area densities were obtained. Then nonwoven fabrics were bonded to each other by using ultrasonic sewing machine and two layered structures were produced. Also polyethylene film was placed between two nonwoven fabrics and these three surfaces were bonded by using ultrasonic sewing machine and three layers fabrics were obtained. Tensile strength and elongation at break properties of the 2 and 3 layers structures were investigated and effect of the polyethylene film on the mechanical properties of the 3 layers structures was studied. And higher mechanical properties were obtained from the 3 layers polypropylene-polyethylene film-polypropylene structures

Each year 750,000 tons of this waste is recycled into new raw materials for the automotive, furniture, mattress, coarse yarn, home furnishings, paper and other industries. This study primarily includes theoretical information on the performance and lost productive time of a firm. Furthermore t-shirt sewing operations of a garment firm were analysed and time measurement for each operation was carried out by the time keeping method. By considering the measurements obtained, different performance estimations, the firm's lost productive time rates, and the standard time was calculated within 5 different scenarios. According to each sewing standard time obtained, the assembly line balancing practice was carried out using the Hoffman method. Later on results of the assembly line balancing were compared, and the importance of employee performance assessment and its lost productive time rates for firms were discussed. The aim of the study was to emphasize the value of impeccable determination of the employee performance assessment and lost productive time rates. Consequently garment firms will be more cautious in calculating the standard time and will be able to reach their production target within the accurate measurement they obtain. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

ÖZETHAZIR GİYİM İŞLETMELERİNDE VERİMSİZLİĞİ ORTAYA ÇIKARAN NEDENLERİN ARAŞTIRILMASI VE BUNLARIN ÇÖZÜMÜNE YÖNELİK ALAN ÇALIŞMASI Verimlilik, üretim sistemleri açısından genel olarak üretim faktörlerinin etkin bir şekilde kullanımı olarak ifade edilmektedir. Üretim faktörlerinin etkin kullanımı; üretim gerçekleşebilmesi için gerekli insan, makine ve malzeme gibi temel kaynakların işletme hedeflerinin yakalanmasında israf edilmeden tüketilmesini ve meydana gelecek ürünün istenilen zaman, miktar, kalite ve mümkün olan en düşük maliyette ortaya çıkarılmasını ifade eder. Verimlilik kavramının bu denli öneme sahip oluşu hazır giyim işletmelerinde verimsizliği ortaya çıkaran nedenlerin araştırılması ve devamında bunların çözümüne yönelik çalışmalar yapılmasını zorunlu hale getirmiştir.Hazır giyim işletmelerinin emek yoğun bir yapıda oluşu ve özellikle dikimhane departmanlarında çalışan işçilerin, toplam çalışanlar içerisindeki payının yüksek oluşu, aynı zamanda dikim işleminin hazır giyim üretiminde en önemli fiili üretim aşaması oluşu üretim hattı kurma ve montaj hattı dengeleme konusunun da önemini ortaya çıkarmaktadır. Bununla birlikte özellikle üretim hatlarında verimliliği arttırma çalışmalarında yaygın bir kullanım alanına sahip simülasyon uygulamaları, verimliliği arttıracak önerilerin fiilen uygulanmasından önce, uygulama sonrasında ortaya çıkacak sonuçlar hakkında çok önemli veriler ortaya koymaktadır. Bu tez çalışması kapsamında öncelikle verimlilik, verimlilik arttırma teknikleri kapsamında iş etüdü; üretim hattı dengeleme ve simülasyon konuları hakkında teorik bilgilere yer verilmiştir. Uygulama süreci ise anket uygulaması, işletme uygulaması, üretim hattı dengeleme uygulaması ve simülasyon uygulaması olmak üzere 4 basamaktan oluşmuştur. Anket uygulaması sonucu işletmelerin anketlere verdikleri cevaplar SPSS programıyla analiz edilerek hazır giyim işletmelerinde verimsizliği ortaya çıkaran nedenler tespit edilmiştir. Bu sorunlar içerisinde işletmeler açısından en büyük verimlilik kaybının yaşandığı dikimhanelerde karşılaşılan dikim bandı (üretim hattı) verimliliğini arttırma yönünde bir işletmede mevcut durum analizi yapılmıştır. Yapılan süre ölçümleri ve metot analizleri çerçevesinde elde edilen verilere göre, verimliliği arttırmaya yönelik iki farklı yöntem ile yeni bir üretim hattı kurulmuştur. Daha sonra bu üretim hattı simüle edilmiştir. İşletmedeki mevcut üretim hattı ile simüle edilmiş alternatif üretim hattına dair sonuçlar karşılaştırmalı olarak tartışılmıştır. ABSTRACTSTUDY OF THE CAUSES OF UNPRODUCTIVENESS IN APPAREL COMPANIES AND FIELDWORK ANALYSIS FOR THEIR SOLUTIONIn terms of production systems, productivity in general means an effective use of the production factors. This means to use basic resources like man, machine, and other materials to reach the production target without wasting them, and to get the required product in the desired time and quality with lowest cost.The concept of productivity is so important that in the ready-made clothing industry, studying the causes of inefficiency along with their solutions have become a necessity.Because the ready-made clothing industry undertakes an intensive work, the number of workers in the sewing department of a company is the highest. Also, the sewing process in the ready-made clothing industry reflects the importance of setting the production line and balancing the assembly line.Widely used simulation applications that increase the efficiency in the production line, helps us to get better results before implementing the efficiency increasing proposals.In the first part of this thesis, theoretical information about efficiency, balancing the production line and simulation are presented. The application process on the other hand, consists of the following 4 steps: the survey application, management application, balancing production line and the simulation. By applying the survey, answers given to the survey are analyzed by SPSS program and the problematic results are identified and reasons of inefficiency in the ready-made clothing industry are brought to light. According to the survey, the sewing department, which has the highest inefficiency rate, is taken into consideration. Analysis of increasing the efficiency in the production line in a factory is performed. Within the scope of timing calculations and method analysis, the results are taken by increasing the production suggestions, and by establishing a new production line on two different systems. The production line is simulated by Automod Simulation Program. Results are given by comparing the existing production line with the suggested simulated production line.

The elementary process of the garment production process is sewing. Sewing, the most important element determining quality and durability in garment production, is the process of getting the sewing thread through the material that will be sewn with the help of a needle, either for the purpose of strengthening or trimming. This process is the backbone of the course of production. Carrying it out as desired will have an effect on utilising production resources and time spent in production more effectively and on achieving the quality level in the final product expected. The heat generated as a result of the needle' s friction against the surface of the textile and the properties of the fabric that affect the heating in the sewing process of woven fabrics were examined in this study. Fabrics of seven different weights, densities and blends were used. An Optris CT3M Pyrometer was used in the implementation to measure the heat on the needle. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The problem of assembly line balancing is extremely important for apparel companies. It indicates the necessity of a well-balanced assembly line since the process of the production of clothes is complicated and it consists of many processes. A well-balanced assembly line enables to produce a product in an optimum time, as a result of which it allows to use fewer machines as well as less material and labour during this production. In this article, studies performed on assembly line balancing were theoretically analysed, and then a time study of T-shirt production with respect to assembly line balancing was performed and data needed for assembly line balancing acquired. In parallel to these data obtained, firstly assembly line balancing was applied using 5 different heuristic methods, and then the assembly line was balanced using the classical method. The results of the solutions for the assembly line are compared. The aim of this study was to establish the assembly lines which have the highest line efficiency and to research the applicability of the methods examined in ready-to-wear assembly lines. While outsourcing is a method used by the companies primarily for the purpose of carrying out the activities which are out of their speciality, nowadays it is a method that is intensely preferred because of its many advantages. Although outsourcing applications have many advantages, many problems arise in practice. In this study, a survey was conducted to investigate the problems with outsourcing implementation to apparel companies and the data obtained were evaluated. Research results have shown that the most important problems of outsourcing implementation for apparel companies are “quality”, “job follow-up” and “logistics problems” respectively.

The cutting process is one of the most important steps for apparel production and it creates the actual production stages with the sewing process. Because of this importance, the capacity utilisation rate of cutting room department affects the whole production. In this study, a survey was conducted to apparel companies for investigating the capacity utilization rates and problems on the low capacity utilization rate of cutting room departments of apparel companies and the data obtained were evaluated. Research results have shown that the capacity utilization rate of the companies varies between 75-100% and the companies have 4 different problems on low capacity utilization rate.

This study primarily includes theoretical information on the performance and lost productive time of a firm. Furthermore t-shirt sewing operations of a garment firm were analysed and time measurement for each operation was carried out by the time keeping method. By considering the measurements obtained, different performance estimations, the firm’s lost productive time rates, and the standard time was calculated within 5 different scenarios. According to each sewing standard time obtained, the assembly line balancing practice was carried out using the Hoffman method. Later on results of the assembly line balancing were compared, and the importance of employee performance assessment and its lost productive time rates for firms were discussed. The aim of the study was to emphasize the value of impeccable determination of the employee performance assessment and lost productive time rates. Consequently garment firms will be more cautious in calculating the standard time and will be able to reach their production target within the accurate measurement they obtain.

Yoğun bir rekabetin yaşandığı hazır giyim sektöründe uygun tedarikçi seçimi önemli bir karar problemidir. Tedarikçi seçiminde birçok kriterin bulunması seçimi daha da zorlaştırmaktadır. Mevcut alternatifler arasından en uygun alternatifleri belirlemek karar vericiler açısından oldukça zor bir durumdur. Karar verme durumunda çok kriterli karar verme yöntemlerinden yararlanmak karar vericilerin doğru kararlar vermesine yardımcı olmaktadır. Tedarikçi seçiminde doğru karar verilmezse ciddi kayıplar ortaya çıkabilmektedir.Bu çalışmanın amacı, çok kriterli karar verme yöntemleri ile bir hazır giyim firmasının tedarikçi seçim problemini çözmektir. Çalışma kapsamında, tedarikçi seçimi için çok kriterli karar verme yöntemlerinden İdeal Çözüme Benzerliğe Göre Tercih Sıralama Yöntemi (Techniques for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution) ve Analitik Hiyerarşi Prosesi (Analytic Hierarchy Process) yöntemleri kullanılmıştır. Kriterlerin belirlenmesinde literatür araştırması ve ilgili tekstil firmasının 2 ayrı departman yöneticisinin görüşlerine başvurulmuştur. Yapılan çalışmalar sonucunda 2 ayrı karar verme yöntemi ile en iyi tedarikçi seçimi yapılmıştır. Elde edilen sonuçlar yorumlanarak birbirleriyle kıyaslanmıştır.--------------------Choosing suitable suppliers in the garment sector, where there is intense competition, is an important decision problem. Selection of many criteria in supplier selection makes the selection more difficult. Determining the most suitable alternatives among the available alternatives is a very difficult situation for decision makers. In decision-making, the use of multi-criteria decision-making methods helps decision-makers to make the right decisions. If the correct decision is not made in the choice of supplier, serious losses may occur.The aim of this study is to solve the supplier selection problem of a textile company with multi-criteria decision-making methods. Within the scope of the study, "Techniques for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution" and "Analytic Hierarchy Process" methods of multi-criteria decision-making methods were used for supplier selection. In order to determine the criteria, literature survey and opinions of 2 different department managers of the related textile company were consulted.As a result of the studies carried out, the best supplier was chosen by 2 different decision-making methods. The results obtained were interpreted and compared with each other.

In this study, general information on assembly line and simulation and researches on assembly line balancing are theoretically analysed. Afterward time studies with respect to blouse production, which will be analysed in assembly line balancing, are conducted and information, which is necessary for assembly line balancing, is obtained. In parallel with the data obtained, the assembly line is firstly balanced by the Hoffman method, which is one of the heuristic methods. Then the assembly line is balanced again using the Arena Simulation program and results which belong to two different assembly line balancing resolutions are given. The aim of the study is to create an assembly line which has highest line efficiency by using an optimum number of machines and operators as well as highlight the applicability of the Hoffman method to ready-to-wear assembly lines.

Günümüzde haberleşme teknolojileri hızla kendini geliştirmektedir. Bunlar içerisinde en öne çıkanı sosyal medyadır. Sosyal medya; kişilerin kendilerine ait duygu ve düşünceleri paylaştıkları ve başka kişiler ile iletişim kurarak bağlantılı oldukları internet temelli uygulamalar bütünüdür. Sosyal medya araçlarında bulunan uygulamalar tüketicilerin satın alma davranışını etkileyip şekillendirmektedir. Son yıllarda giyim modasının sosyal medyada yayılması ve özellikle tesettür giyim modasının tüketicilere ulaştırılıp tanıtılmasında büyük önem taşır. Sosyal medya hem tüketiciler hem de işletmeler açısından büyük rol oynar. Bu nedenle sosyal medyanın tesettür giyimi tercih eden tüketicilerin davranışları üzerine etkisini araştırmak büyük önem taşımaktadır.Bu çalışma, konuyla ilgili teorik bilgiler ile uygulama bölümlerinden meydana gelmekte ve sosyal medyanın tesettür giyimi tercih eden tüketicilerin satın alma davranışı ile arasındaki bağlantıyı ortaya koymayı amaçlamaktadır. Çalışmanın teorik kısmında; sosyal medya, sosyal medya araçları, satın alma davranışları ve bu davranışları etkileyen faktörler vb. konular ele alınmıştır.Araştırma bölümünde ise; sosyal medyanın tesettür giyimi tercih eden tüketici davranışına olan etkisini ortaya koymak amacıyla hazırlanmış olan anket, sosyal medya kullanıcılarına sunulmuştur. 750 sosyal medya kullanıcısına uygulanan anket çalışması sonucunda elde edilen veriler SPSS paket programına girilmiş ve bu veriler analiz edilmiştir.Sonuç olarak, tesettür giyimi tercih eden tüketicilerin satın alma sürecinde sosyal medya araçlarının etkisinde kaldıkları ortaya çıkmıştır. ÖZET HAZIR GİYİM İŞLETMELERİNDE KESİM VERİMLİLİĞİNİ ETKİLEYEN FAKTÖRLERİN SİMÜLASYON YÖNTEMİYLE İNCELENMESİKesim, serili tekstil yüzeylerinin kesim kalıpları kullanılarak belirli giysi parçalarını ortaya çıkaracak şekilde kesici alet veya makineler yardımıyla parçalara ayrılması işlemidir. Kesim işleminin verimliliği üretim maliyetleri üzerinde direkt etkili olmaktadır. Zira hazır giyimde üretim art arda gelen süreçlerden oluşmakta ve proseslerin başarısı kullanılan malzeme, makine, insan ve yönetim taktiklerinden bile etkilenmektedir. Verimliliğin bu denli öneme sahip oluşu hazır giyim işletmelerinde verimsizliği ortaya çıkaran nedenlerin araştırılması ve devamında bunların çözümüne yönelik çalışmalar yapılmasını zorunlu hale getirmiştir. Bununla birlikte özellikle üretim hatlarında verimliliği arttırma çalışmalarında yaygın bir kullanım alanına sahip simülasyon uygulamaları, verimliliği arttıracak önerilerin fiilen uygulanmasından önce, uygulama sonrasında ortaya çıkacak sonuçlar hakkında çok önemli veriler ortaya koymaktadır.Bu tez çalışmasının birinci bölümünde hazır giyimle ilgili temel kavramlar ve hazır giyimde iş akışı, kesim ile ilgili bilgiler, kesim verimliliğini etkileyen faktörler, üretim ve simülasyon kavramları hakkında bilgilere yer verilmiştir. İkinci bölümde ise kullanılan materyal ve yöntem açıklanmış, gerçekleştirilen uygulamalar hakkında bilgi verilmiştir.Üçüncü bölümde araştırmadan elde edilen bulgular ve sonuçlar incelenmiş ve sonuçlar kısmında elde edilen verilerden hareketle ortaya çıkan bilgiler ve bulguların sonuçlarına ulaşılmıştır.ABSTRACTINVESTIGATION OF THE FACTORS AFFECTING THE EFFICIENCY OF CUTTING PROCESS IN APPAREL INDUSTRY WITH SIMULATION METHODCutting is a segmentation process of cutting of laid textile surfaces by using cutting moulds to reveal specific clothing items with the aid of cutting tools or machinery.The efficiency of the cutting process has a direct effect on production cost. Likewise, readymade clothing consists of consecutive processes and the success of such processes is affected by not only the materials and machinery used but also by the human and management tactics used. Since the productivity has such an importance it is necessary to research the causes of inefficiency and conducting studies to solve such issues in the readymade clothing businesses. In addition, particularly simulation applications that are used widely to increase the efficiency of the production lines reveals important data both before the actual implementation of proposals to increase efficiency and the consequences of the implementation process. In the first section of thesis basic concepts related to readymade clothing is explained. Also, workflow, information regarding cutting process, factors that affect the efficiency of cutting process and production and simulation concepts related readymade clothing is described. In the second section information regarding materials and methods used are described; and performed ongoing applications are explained. In the third section the findings and results obtained from research is examined and the results have been achieved with the data gathered from the conclusion section.

ÖZETULTRASONİK DİKİŞ PARAMETRELERİNİN ULTRASONİK DİKİŞ MUKAVEMETİNE ETKİLERİNİN ARAŞTIRILMASIUltrasonik insanın duyma limitinin üzerindeki ses dalgalarının bilimidir. Hızla gelişen tekstil sektöründe, artan yeni yöntemler arasında bulunan ultrasonik enerji kullanımı, tekstil sanayinde birçok aşamada kendini göstermektedir. Yıkama işlemleri, terbiye işlemleri, kesim ve tekstil materyallerinin birleştirilmesi (dikim) gibi birçok alanda ultrasonik enerjiden faydalanılmaktadır.Ultrasonik dikiş iğne ve iplik kullanılmadan, sentetik liflerden üretilmiş veya içeriğinde en az %60 sentetik lif olan kumaşlara uygulanan bir dikiş türüdür.Bu tez çalışması kapsamında öncelikle ultrasonik enerji, ultrasonik kaynak, ultrasonik dikiş ve sentetik lifler hakkında teorik bilgilere yer verilmiştir. Uygulama sürecinde; dikiş hızının, kumaş üretim yönteminin, kumaş karışım oranının, kumaş gramajının ve kullanılan roller tipinin ultrasonik dikiş mukavemetine etkilerini araştırmak amacıyla dikiş mukavemet testleri yapılmış ve test sonuçları karşılaştırmalı olarak tartışılmıştır.ABSTRACTINVESTIGATION OF EFFECTS ON THE ULTRASONIC SEAM STRENGTH OF ULTRASONIC SEWING PARAMETERSUltrasonic is a science of the sound waves on human hearing limits. Rapidly growing in the textile sector, the use of ultrasonic energy between new methods shows itself in several stage in the textile industry. Ultrasonic energy is utilized such as laundering processes, finish processes, cutting and combination of textile materials (sewing) in many areas.Ultrasonic sewing that is a sewing type without using a needle and fibre, manufactured from synthetic fibers or applied to fabrics containing at least 60% synthetic fibers.Within the thesis work at first, were given coverage to theoretical information such as ultrasonic energy and welding, ultrasonic sewing and synthetic fibers which are ultrasonic sewing. Seam strength tests were conducted in order to investigate the effects of sewing speed, production method of fabric, mixing ratio of fabric, fabric area density, used roller types on ultrasonic seam strength and comparatively, test results were discussed in the implementation process.

In this article, general information related to efficiency, assembly lineS and simulation are primarily reviewed. previous studies on assembly line balancing are theoretically analysed. Thereafter two different assembly lines are designed to produce jean trousers. In one assembly line - manual machines and in another automats are used for seven selected operations. These assembly lines are modelled by the Promodel Simulation Program and the assembly line balancing problem is applied. The aim of the study is to establish which assembly lines have the highest line performance and to research the effects of using automat in assembly lines on production volume and efficiency. The simulation method formerly informs investors about the consequences of their investment in the decision making process for technology investments. The study concludes that automat usage on an assembly line increases the production volume and affects the efficiency of assembly line positively.

Bu çalışma, Türkiye’ de hazır giyim sektöründe faaliyet gösteren işletmeler ve tüketicilerin perspektifinden geleneksel pazarlama ile internetten pazarlamayı kıyaslamak amacı ile yapılmıştır. Çalışmada, literatür taraması ile geleneksel pazarlama ve internetten pazarlama hakkında teorik bilgiler verilmiş ve araştırmayı tamamlamak için tüketicilere ve hazır giyim işletmelerine yönelik iki ayrı anket çalışması gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırma sonucunda, internetten pazarlama için göz önünde bulundurulması gereken başarı kıstasları ortaya çıkarılmış, daha geniş kitlelere ulaşmak isteyen işletmelerin internetten pazarlamayı yakın gelecekte geleneksel pazarlamaya göre daha etkin kullanacağı belirlenmiştir. ABSTRACT STUDY OF THE COMPARISON BETWEEN TRADITIONAL MARKETING AND INTERNET MARKETING IN READY TO WEAR SECTOR The fast and ongoing development of the web into a channel with increasing audiences and evolving technologies has been completed an evolution for companies as much as consumers and internet enabled a two way communication platform between consumer and companies. This research focuses on to investigate the comparison between traditional marketing and e-marketing from the perspective of consumers and ready to wear companies in Turkey. This study examines the theoretical information on traditional marketing and marketing by the internet and also two survey prepared and presented to consumers and ready to wear companies. Results of the research shows that internet marketing will be used much more actively according to traditional marketing in the near future, also success factors that take into consideration are determined.
