In this study, the aim was to optimize the cross-sectional geometry of auxetic dowels for furniture joints. For this purpose, two different sizes of auxetic dowels were chosen, one for frame- and the other for panel-type furniture joints for designing the cross-sectional geometry. Auxetic patterns that are created on the cross-sectional area cause deficiency of the materials, and this phenomenon decreases the modulus of elasticity (MOE) and increases the member stress. Accordingly, maximum MOE values and minimum Poisson's ratio levels were determined for the optimum strength-auxetic behavior relation by means of a Monte Carlo method. Furthermore, Poisson's ratio of the optimized dowel's cross-section was confirmed with experimental tests, numerical analyses and analytical calculations. As a result, Poisson's ratio values were obtained as negative values and confirmed, which means the dowels designed in this study had auxetic behavior. In conclusion, it could be said that studies should be conducted on the performance of auxetic dowels in both frame and panel furniture joints.

Bu çalışmada; tüketicilerin mobilya satın alma sürecindeki tutumlarında, yaşadıkları konutlardaki mülkiyet ve mimari özelliklerin mobilya tercihlerine etkisinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu kapsamda mobilya üreticilerinin, odaklanacağı konular ve problemler belirlenmeye çalışılmıştır. Bu amaçla; 35 sorudan oluşan bir anket hazırlanarak Kayseri ilinde yaşayan 300 kişiye yüz yüze uygulanmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda, tüketicilerden elde edilen sonuçlara göre; tüketicilerin kullandıkları mobilyaları 2-6 yıl arasında daha çok değiştirdikleri görülmüştür. Mobilyada estetik kaygılar önemli olduğu için tüketicilerin yeni tasarımlardan dolayı modası geçen mobilyalarını değiştirmek istedikleri anlaşılmıştır. Kiracı olan hedef gruplar mobilyalarını daha sık değiştirirken, ev sahiplerinin daha az mobilya değiştirdikleri belirlenmiştir. Yaşanılan konut alanı ile mobilya konsept bütünlüğü arasındaki ilişki incelendiğinde; 100m2 ve altında olan konutlarda yaşayan tüketicilerin mobilya satın alırken konsept bütünlüğü aramazken, 100m2 ve üzerinde konutlarda yaşayanların konsept bütünlüğüne önem verdiği belirlenmiştir., In this study; It is aimed to determine the effect of ownership and architectural features of the residences on the furniture preferences in the attitudes of consumers in the furniture purchasing process. In this context, it has been tried to identify the issues and problems that furniture manufacturers will focus on. In this context; A questionnaire consisting of 35 questions was prepared and applied face-to-face to 300 people living in Kayseri. As a result of the study, according to the results obtained from consumers; It was observed that consumers changed the furniture they used more between 2-6 years. As aesthetic concerns are important in furniture, it has been understood that consumers want to replace their outdated furniture due to new designs. Target groups with tenants changed their furniture more frequently, while homeowners changed less furniture. When the relationship between residential area and furniture concept integrity is examined; It has been determined that consumers living in residences of 100m2 and below do not seek concept integrity while purchasing furniture, while those living in residences of 100m2 and above pay attention to concept integrity.

In this study, it was aimed to determine the effect of demographic features on the preferences of the consumers living in Kayseri province. In this context, the issues and problems that furniture manufacturers will focus on have been determined. For this purpose, a survey of 35 questions was prepared and applied with face-to-face interviews with 300 people living in Kayseri province. The findings were evaluated and interpreted with using of cross tables. As a result of the study, according to the results obtained from consumers who came to the dealers to buy furniture, it was determined that women took an active role when consumers bought furniture, and that the level of appreciation increased as the education level increased. It has been observed that all consumers have high expectations about durability of the furniture. As consumers age, the types of units purchased are decreasing and it has been found that durability and functionality are at the forefront rather than the aesthetics of the furniture. Based on these results, manufacturers can make special designs and develop different sales policies by narrowing their target audiences and focusing on these selected target audiences.

WOS: 000493997400118, The effects of cross-sectional geometry and force direction on bending strength (MOR) and modulus of elasticity (MOE) were investigated in selected softwoods. the specimens were constructed of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris), Black pine (Pin us nigra), Siberian pine (Pinus sibirica), Stone pine (Pinus pinea), Nordmann fir (Abies nordmanniana), Oriental spruce (Picea orientalis), and Lebanon cedar (Cedrus libani). A total of 280 specimens were prepared from these seven species in two different cross-sectional geometries (circular and square, equal in area) and tested in two characteristic force directions (tangential and radial) by 10 replications. They were subjected to three-point bending tests according to TS 2474 (2005) and TS 2478 (2005) to obtain the MOR and MOE. the results showed that the type of cross-sectional area and direction of applied force, individually or together, had considerable effects on the MOR and MOE. the MOR values of the circular-sectioned specimens were 5% greater than those of the square-sectioned specimens. the MOE values of the circular-sectioned specimens were on average 19% greater than those of the square-sectioned specimens. the MOR and MOE values were on average 7% and 17% greater, respectively, for the force applied in the tangential direction.

Studies on the application of auxetic metamaterials and structures in furniture joints are very limited. However, they have huge potential for use in ready-to-assemble furniture. This study aimed to design and produce different types of auxetic dowels in 3D printing technology, and experimentally and numerically analyze the withdrawal strength of these dowels. In the scope of the study, 24 auxetic dowels with different types and size of inclusions, different diameter of holes, and a non-auxetic reference dowel were designed and produced with appropriate muffs. Dowels were 3D printed from polyamide (PA12). Poisson's ratios, withdrawal strength, contact pressures, and friction coefficients of dowels were determined theoretically by means of numerical analyses and real static compression tests. After the pre-production of dowels, the dowels with triangular inclusions have not been found to have sufficient strength and stiffness. Withdrawal strength of dowels decreased as the size of inclusions is decreased, or dowel hole diameter is increased. Furthermore, contact pressures and stresses in auxetic dowels were considerably lower than non-auxetic dowels under the withdrawal force.

Bu çalışmada mutfak dolaplarının yüktaşıma kapasitesi incelenmiş, deney örneği mutfak dolaplarında malzemeçeşitleri, duvar montaj yeri ve arka panel gibi faktörlerin yük taşıma kapasitesi üzerindeki etkileriaraştırılmıştır. Deney örneği mutfak dolapları 1/1 ölçekte hazırlanarak kalıcıdeformasyona ulaşılıncaya kadar statik yük altında test edilmiştir. Çalışmada, iki farklı duvar bağlantı noktası,yonga levha (PB), lamine yonga levha(PB-m), orta yoğunluklu lif levha (MDF)ve lamine orta yoğunluklu lif levha(MDF-m) olmak üzere 4 farklı ahşap esaslı kompozit malzeme kullanılarak, dörtelemanlı (arkalık paneli olmadan) ve beş elemanlı (arkalık panelli) toplam 48mutfak dolabı üretilmiştir.. Tüm köşe bağlantıları 4 x 50 mm vidalarkullanılarak oluşturulmuştur. Tüm test numuneleri statik yük altında testedilmiş olup bir yükleme kayışı ile üst panelin yüzeyinden yükleruygulanmıştır.. Sonuç olarak, arkalık paneli olan mutfak dolaplarının, arkalıkpaneli olmayan mutfak dolaplarına kıyasla iki kat daha fazla yük taşımakapasitesine sahip oldukları görülmüştür.Mutfak dolaplarının yan panellerden duvara tutturulması için açılı metalkonektörlerin yerleştirilmesi, sadece üst panelin değil, tüm yapının daha fazlayük taşımasına yardımcı olacağından; bu bağlantı elemanlarının kullanılmasıönerilmektedir. Ayrıca, Yongalevhadan üretilen mutfak dolapları, MDF’den üretilen mutfak dolaplarının mukavemetinin 2 / 3'üne sahip olduğu görülmüştür.&nbsp, In this study, the maximum load carrying capacity ofwall kitchen cabinets structure were investigated. Factors such as materialtypes, wall mounting place and add of back panel on kitchen cabinets and theireffect on the maximum load carrying capacity of the whole structure wereinvestigated. Kitchen cabinets were madein 1/1 scale and loaded until failure happened. For this purpose, a total of 48kitchen cabinets were manufactured, including two different wall connectionpoints, four different wood based panels, namely bare particleboard (PB),laminated particleboard (PB-m), bare medium density fiber board (MDF) andlaminated medium density fiber board (MDF-m) which were used for constructionof four and five member cabinets (with and without back panel). All cornerjoints were established by using 4 x 50 mm screws without adhesive. All testsamples were tested under static load, loads were applied from the top panel’ssurface by using a loading strap. According to the results, kitchen cabinets withthe back panels compare to the same kitchen cabinets without back panels wereable to carry two times more load.Placement of angled metal connectors for attachment of these kitchencabinets to the wall from side panels and not from the top panel can help thewhole structure carry more load and therefor advised. Particleboard kitchencabinets structures only had 2/3 of the strength of the corresponding MDFkitchen cabinets structures.&nbsp

Bu çalışmada; Ege Bölgesi'nin kıyı ve iç kesimi restoranlarının karşılaştırması yapılmaya çalışılmıştır. Bu sebeple Ege Bölgesi'nin en kalabalık şehirleri olan İzmir ve Denizli illeri örnek olarak seçilmiş, bu illerin şehir merkezlerinde bulunan yeme-içme mekânları (restoranlar) tasarım kriterleri açısından incelenmiştir. Bu amaçla, İzmir ve Denizli'de bulunan (20x2=40) toplam 40 adet yeme-içme mekânı (restoran) değerlendirilmek üzere incelemeye alınmıştır. Çalışma kapsamında incelenen yeme-içme mekânlarında fotoğraflama işlemleri yapılmış, bazı donatı elemanlarının ölçüleri alınmış ve ergonomik kriterlere uygunluğu incelenmiş, toplam 25 sorudan oluşan bir anket uygulanarak yeme-içme mekanlarına ait bilgiler ve tasarım kriterleri değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırmanın sonucunda incelenen yeme-içme mekânlarında ergonomik olmayan mobilya ve donatı elemanlarının kullanımının kullanıcılarda bazı sağlık sorunları oluşturabileceği ve olumsuz psikolojik etkilere sebep olabileceği tespit edilmiştir. Sonuç olarak, bu mekânlarda yeme-içme gereksinimlerini gidermek isteyen kullanıcıların daha rahat bir ortamda ve daha işlevsel donatı elemanlarıyla bu ihtiyaçlarını giderebilmeleri için öneriler ortaya konulmuştur In this study, restaurants were investigated with design criteria. For this purpose, totally 40 restaurants were investigated for assessment in İzmir and Denizli. Within the scope of study, some members measurement and photographs were taken and investigated to acceptable for ergomic criteria or not. However, 25question survey was carried out and, informations and design criterias of restaurans were evaluated. At the end of the study, it was established that some of furnitures and members which are not ergonomics could be a reason of physiological and psychological healthy problems. As a result, consumers should be more relax places and use functional members for these activities
