27. DETERMINATION OF PROTEIN VALUE AND WATER ABSORPTION IN CHICKPEA (CICER AIIETINUM L.) SEEDS DURING GERMINATION

Abstract

Protein and water absorption values were investigated in Cagatay and Gokhoyuk varieties of chickpea (Cicer arietinum) seeds after germination. The crude protein content were determined as 29.14% by dry weight in Cagatay and 26.13% in Gokhoyuk varieties respectively. Following imbibition, the amount of water absorption increased up to approximately 50% to 60% in both varieties. Crude protein content increased by 10.4% and 14.2% and carbohydrate content increased by 0.45% and 0.41% respectively for Cagatay and Gokhoyuk varieties of chickpea seeds. In addition, total viability of microorganisms, yeasts and molds were also determined after germination. Inactivation of microorganisms (including yeast and molds) to acceptable safe limits were noted, after soaking in hot water at 95° C for five minutes. © 2023,Carpathian Journal of Food Science and Technology. Abstract

Background and Aims: In this study, Onobrcyhis armena BOISS. & HUET was screened for its antioxidant potential, fatty acids and volatile compounds. Methods: Antioxidant activities of different extracts (ethylacetate, methanol and water) were measured using the phosphomolybdenum assay, free radical scavenging assay, β-carotene/linoleic acid method, and ferric and cupric reducing power assay. Total phenolic and flavonoid contents were also calculated spectrophotometrically. Results: GC analysis revealed that the oil was dominated by palmitic (22.67%) and linoleic (15.09%) acids. Unsaturated acids levels were higher than saturated fatty acids. The essential oil was analyzed by GC-MS system and twenty-two volatile compounds were identified. The identified major components were n–hexadecanoic acid, 9-12 octadecanoic acid, tetradecanoic acid and hexahydro farnesyl acetone. Conclusion: The results of this study show that O. armena can be used as an easily accessible source of natural antioxidants and unsaturated fatty acids in food and pharmaceutical industries.

41. Electrical characteristics of Al/(GO:PTCDA)/p-type Si structure under dark and light illumination: photovoltaic properties at 40 mW cm−2.

Abstract

In this study, the illumination dependence of current–voltage (I–V) and capacitance–voltage (C–V) characteristics of the Al/(GO:PTCDA)/p-type Si structure was examined under dark and 40 mW cm−2 at 300 K (room temperature). The electrical characteristics as ideality factor (n), rectification ratio (RR), saturation current (I0) and barrier height (Φbo), series resistance (RS), and interface state densities (NSS) were calculated and investigated using different methods. The distributions of interface densities (NSS) as a function of (ESS–EV) were calculated from the forward I–V data by accounting for the bias dependence of the effective barrier heights (ϕe) for Al/(GO:PTCDA)/p-type Si structure in dark and under 40 mW cm−2 light density. Furthermore, the photovoltaic properties such as open-circuit voltage (Voc), short-circuit current (Isc), fill factor (FF), maximum power (P), and conversion efficiency (ηP) were acquired as 7.34 × 10−6 A, 0.30 V, 1.06 × 10–6 W, 48.2%, and 1.06% under 40 mW cm−2 white light intensity, respectively. So, photovoltaic results confirm that in optoelectronic devices, Al/(GO:PTCDA)/p-Si structure can be employed as a photodiode. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, Mo ve W elementlerinin ortakkatkılamasının (BiPb)2WxSr2Ca3Cu4-yMoyO12+& süper iletkeni üzerindeki x=0, y= 0; x = 0.1, y= 0.0, 0.03, 0.06, 0.09ve 0.12 değerleri için etkileri araştırıldı. Üretilen malzemeler için iyibilinen geleneksel katı hal tepkime metodu kullanıldı. Kalsinasyon vesinterleme sıcaklıkları diferansiyel termal analiz tekniği (TGA) kullanılarakelde edildi. Kristal yapı özelliklerini araştırmak ve faz belirlenmesinibelirlemek için X-ışını toz kırınım (XRD) ölçümleri yapıldı. XRD verileri,Cu'nin yerini alan Mo ile birlikte Bi- (2223) fazının Bi- (2212) fazınadönüştüğünü göstermiştir. Numunelerin morfolojik özellikleri taramalı elektronmikroskobu (SEM) ölçümleri ile belirlenmiştir. BSCCO sisteminde ikame edilen Move W'nin etkileri; kritik sıcaklıkları elde etmek için elektrik direnç (R-T)ölçümleri gerçekleştirdik. Elektrik direncinden kritik sıcaklık ve geçişsıcaklığı genişliği hem Mo içeriğinin artmasıyla artmıştır. Alternatif akımduyarlılık ölçümü (AC), kritik geçiş sıcaklığı elde etmek ve numunelerinmanyetik özelliklerini incelemek için gerçekleştirildi., Theeffect of Mo substituting and W doping on (BiPb)2WxSr2Ca3Cu4-yMoyO12+& system where x=0, y= 0;x = 0.1, y= 0.0, 0.03, 0.06, 0.09 and 0.12 have been investigated. Thesuperconducting samples prepared by using conventional solid state reactionmethod. The calcination and sintering temperatures were obtained by usingdifferential thermal analysis technique (TGA). In order to investigate crystalstructure properties and determine the phase determination, X-ray powderdiffraction (XRD) measurements were performed. The XRD data showed that theBi-(2223) phase transforms into the Bi-(2212) phase with increasing Mosubstituting for Cu. The morphology properties of the samples determined withthe scanning electron microscopy (SEM) measurements. The effects of Mo and Wsubstituted on BSCCO system; we have also performed electrical resistivity(R-T) in order to get critical temperatures. From electrical resistivitycritical temperature and transition temperature width were both increased withthe increasing of Mo content. The alternative current susceptibilitymeasurement (AC) was performed to obtain critical transition temperature andstudy magnetic properties of the samples.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to investigate the deterioration in packaged chicken doner related to microbiologicaland chemical analyses when stored under normal, vacuum and modified atmospheric (MAP) conditions at0, 10 and 200C temperatures. For each storage temperature 16 samples of freshly cooked doner weretaken each one packaged with 100 g Polypropylene (PP) packages. The results were evaluated accordingto Salmonella spp; Listeria monocytogenes, total volatile nitrogen (TVN) and pH for each sample andtemperature were analyzed in two days intervals in duplicate according to Turkish food regulation. Thedeterioration value related with microbial and chemical analysis were reached within 20, 14 and 7 days at00C under modified atmospheric (MAP), vacuum and normal storage conditions respectively but it wasdeteriorated in one day when stored at 200C at any storage conditions

Abstract

In present study, we investigated frequency and voltage dependence of electrical and dielectric properties of Ag/nGO doped poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA)/ p -Si structures. The nGO-PVA films were prepared by using improved Hummers method and this thin film layers were analyzed with SEM and EDX. The main parameters as ideality factor (n), barrier height (Φbo) and saturation current (I0) were obtained from current–voltage (I-V) measurements. The frequency dependent electrical characteristics of structure investigated using capacitance–voltage (C–V) and conductance–voltage (G/ω–V) measurements in the frequency range of 10 kHz to 1000 kHz in 300 K absolute temperature. The capacitance, conductance and series resistance (RS) values decreased with increasing frequency. These decreases at higher frequencies are attributed to existence of interface state densities. The presence of the interface state densities (NSS) are also evidenced as a peak in the capacitance, conductance and series resistance–frequency characteristics. After, the dielectric properties of Ag/GO-PVA/ p -Si structures were obtained using C–V and G/ω–V measurements in the same frequency ranges. The values of dielectric constant (ε′), dielectric loss (ε″), and loss tangent (tanδ) decreases with increasing frequency while ac electrical conductivity (σac) increase with increasing frequency. Our results showed that frequency dependent electrical and dielectric properties were strongly frequency and voltage dependent. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
