WOS: 000490563900047, The aim of our research was to study certain microorganisms living in the root areas of plants growing in stressed habitats such as mining sites. In the present study, the distributions of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (A.M.F.) spores in the root rhizospheres of certain plants (Onopordum acanthium, Festuca glauca, Euphorbia helioscopia L., Plantago lanceolata L., Salvia officinalis, Mentha pulegium L., Verbascum thapsus L. and Crocus sativus L.) that are prevalent around the Seydisehir Aluminum Plant Bauxite Deposit (SAPBD) were examined along with the infection rates of these spores in the plant roots, and the morphological definitions of these spores were presented. The highest values in the number of arbuscular mycorrhizal spores, arbuscular mycorrhizal infection rate, dehydrogenase, catalase, urease enzyme activities, the total number of bacteria, the vesicle and arbuscule rates, and also the DSE (dark septate endophyte) fungal structures were obtained from the plant Euphorbia helioscopia L., and the soils taken from its rhizosphere. The most prevalent spore species detected in the soils sampled from the Bauxite Mine sampling area were Glomus sp., Acaulospora sp. and Archaeospora sp. Fluctuations were observed in the arbuscular mycorrhizal infection rates of the roots depending on the species of the plants.

This study was carried out to determine the effect of different doses of molybdenum with bacterial inoculation on macro and micro- elements content of bean grains. In this study, Akman 98 dry bean variety was used as plant material, Molybdenum dosages were Mo0 = Molybdenum free, Mo1 = 0.05 mg/kg, Mo2 = 0.10 mg/kg and Rhizobium tropici (CIAT899), bacterium of Phaseolus plant, was used as inoculation material. The study was planned according to the randomized complete blocks in factorial design with three replicates. Following the performed field trial, nutrient elements (N, P, K, Ca, Mg, Fe, Cu, Mn, and Zn) of bean grains were determined. According to the results obtained from the study, the effect of molybdenum application and inoculation on nutrient elements of bean grains was different and statistically significant. This effect on nutrients showed that the nutrients in the bean grains generally increased due to the increase in molybdenum doses. Mineral content of bean grains were determined as nitrogen (N) 3.59-4.39, protein content 22.44-27.44, phosphorus (P) 0.36-0.46 potassium (K) 1.83-2.33 magnesium (Mg) 0.17-0.20 calcium (Ca) (%), as mg/kg (Fe) 37.59-65.25 copper (Cu) 5.27-7.69 manganese (Mn) 14.98-16.96 zinc (Zn) 14.77-27.28. The nutrient contents of inoculated bean grains were found to be higher than the non-inoculated ones. Nutrient contents were different depending on the inoculation and dose applications, and this difference was found to be statistically significant.

Marka kişiliği ile ilgili çalışmalar ürün markalarından hizmet markalarına, kurum markalarına ve kar amacı gütmeyen organizasyon markalarına doğru genişlemiştir. Bu çalışmada bir kamu kurumunun kurum marka kişiliğinin ölçülmesi amaçlanmıştır. Kurumun algılanan marka kişiliği hem dış müşterilerin hem de iç müşterilerin bakış açısı ile analiz edilmiştir. Bulgulara göre iki grup arasında on kişilik özelliği ile ilgili farklılık bulunmaktadır. Faktör analizi sonuçlarına göre yedi adet faktör oluşmuştur ve bu faktörler ile ilgili algılamalar cinsiyet, eğitim ve gelir düzeyi gibi demografik özelliklere göre farklılaşmaktadır.

Gaucher's disease, although rare is the most commonly seen lysosomal storage disorder, with autosomal recessive inheritance. It is due to deficiency of lysosomal beta-glucocerebrosidase so that the substrate betaglucocereb- roside accumulates in the reticulo-endothelial system. To date, three types have been defined. Gaucher's disease must be remembered in the setting of hepatosplenomegaly of unknown etiology and/or bone pain. During the course this disease, it was reported that hepatocellular dysfunction or portal hypertension might develop. In this report, a patient with Gaucher's disease associated with liver and bone involvement is presented., Gaucher hastalığı; otozomal resessif kalıtımla geçen, nadir görülen ancak en sık lizozomal lipid depo hastalığıdır. Lizozomal "betaglukoserebrozidaz" enzim eksikliğinden kaynaklanır ve substratı olan beta-glukoserebrozidin vücuttaki tüm retikülo-endoteliyal sistemde birikmesi ile karakterizedir. Nörolojik bulguların varlığı ve hastalığın seyrine göre 3 klinik alt grup tanımlanmıştır. Gaucher hastalığı; tanısı açıklanamayan hepatosplenomegali, ve/veya kemik ağrısı olan her hastada düşünülmelidir. Gaucher hücreleridir. Bu hastalık esnasında nadiren hepatoselüler disfonksiyon veya portal hipertansiyon gelişebileceği bildirilmiştir. Bu yazıda; nadir bir lipid depo hastalığı olan, kemik ve akciğer tutulumunun eşlik ettiği ve seyrinde portal hipertansiyonun da geliştiği bir Gaucher vakası sunulmuştur.

Background/aim: In the pathogenesis of intestinal type gastric cancer, the importance of the process of atrophic gastritis-intestinal metaplasiadysplasia- cancer is well known. In this study, assuming that it will provide a good database in gastric cancer follow-up programs, we intended to establish the rates of gastric precancerous lesion (atrophy, intestinal metaplasia, and dysplasia) in patients with dyspepsia. Materials and methods: From June 2003 - February 2004, 310 consecutive patients (172 females, 138 males, mean age 55.8, range 16-80) who applied for gastrointestinal endoscopy due to dyspepsia were included in the study. Five biopsies were taken from the antrum and corpus of these patients using the updated Sidney system and were examined histopathologically. Results: In these patients, we determined 8% (24 patients) with atrophic gastritis, 20% (61 patients) with intestinal metaplasia (complete or incomplete), and 4% (13 patients) with dysplasia. While H. pylori was (+) in 90% (89 patients) of 98 cases with precancerous lesions, H. pylori was (+) in 61% (115 patients) of 187 patients without precancerous lesions, and the difference was statistically significant. Conclusion: Several precancerous lesions may be detected in the stomach of patients in whom endoscopic examinations are performed due to dyspepsia. Verifying the strong relationship between intestinal type gastric cancers and H. pylori, this bacteria was found at a high rate in patients with precancerous lesions., Giriş ve amaç: İntestinal tip mide kanserinin patogenezinde atrofik gas trit-intestinal metaplazi-displazi- kanser sürecinin önemi bilinmektedir. Bu çalışmada mide kanser izlem programları içinde iyi bir veri tabanı sağlayabileceği öngörüsüyle dispepsili olgularda midedeki prekanseröz lezyon (atrofi, intestinal metaplazi, displazi) oranlarını belirlemeyi amaçladık. Gereç ve yöntem: Çalışmaya 2003 Haziran-2004 Şubat ayları arasında dispepsi nedeni ile üst gastrointestinal endoskopi yapılan ardı şık 285 hasta (161 kadın, 124 erkek, yaş ortalaması 55.8, yaş aralığı 16-80) alındı. Bu hastalardan güncelleştirilmiş Sidney sistemine göre antrum ve korpustan toplam 5 biyopsi alındı ve histopatolojik değerlendirme yapıldı. Bulgular: Bu hastaların %8'inde (24 hasta) atrofik gastrit, %21'inde (61 hasta) intestinal metaplazi (komplet ve inkomplet), %4'ünde (13 hasta) displazi saptandı. Mide kanseri için prekanseröz lezyonlar saptanan 98 olgunun %90'ında (89 hasta) H. pylori (+) iken, prekanseröz lezyon saptanmayan 187 olgunun ise %61'inde (115 hasta) H. pylori (+) bulundu ve istatiksel olarak anlamlı fark bulundu. Sonuç: Dispepsi nedeniyle üst gastrointestinal endoskopi yapılan hastalarda midenin prekanseröz lezyonları (atrofi, intestinal metaplazi, displazi) saptanabilir. İntestinal tip gastrik kanserle H. pylori arasındaki güçlü ilişkiyi doğrulayacak şekilde prekanseröz lezyon bulunan hastalarda bu bakteri yüksek oranda saptanmıştır.

Dieulafoy's lesion, vascular abnormality of the gastric mucosa, is a rare but potentially life-threatening cause of recurrent and massive gastrointestinal bleeding. Dieulafoy's lesion is characterized by protrusion of a large pulsatile arterial vessel through a submucosal erosion, causing serious gastrointestinal bleeding. Endoscopy is a safe and effective method in the diagnosis and treatment. We review the literature and present three cases of Dieulafoy's lesion treated with endoscopic methods (sclerotherapy and heater probe thermocoagulation); two were admitted with acute and one with chronic gastrointestinal bleeding, Dieulafoy lezyonu, nadir görülen, hayatı tehdit eden ve sıklıkla tekrarlayan kanamalara neden olan mide mukozasının yüzeyel vasküler lezyonudur. Geniş çaplı pulsatil bir arterin, submukozal bir defektten protrude olması sonrasında oluşan ciddi kanamalarla karakterizedir. Tanı ve tedavisinde endoskopi güvenilir ve etkili bir yöntemdir. Bu yazıda; ikisi akut, biri kronik gastrointestinal kanama ile başvuran, Dieulafoy lezyonu tanısı konulan ve endoskopik olarak (skleroterapi ve heater prob ile termokoagülasyon) tedavi edilen üç olgu sunularak, literatür gözden geçirilmiştir.

The aim of this study was to identify hepatitis D virus genotypes in our chronic hepatitis D patients. Twenty-five patients with hepatitis D virus infection were enrolled in this study. HDV-RNA was extracted from the serum by Boom methods. Hepatitis D virus genotype was determined by reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) methods. Genotype I was found in 22 patients, and could not be determined in the remaining 3 patients. In conclusion, genotype I is the dominant hepatitis D virus genotype in our country., Bu çalışmanın amacı; hepatitis D virusu ile infekte kronik hepatitli hastalarda genotip tayini yapmaktır. Çalışma kapsamına 25 hasta alınmıştır. HDV-RNA Boom metodu, hepatitis D virusu genotip tayini ise RT-PCR ve RFLP metodu ile çalışılmıştır. 22 hastada genotip I saptanmıştır. 3 hastada genotip tayini yapılamamıştır. Sonuç olarak; ülkemizdeki hepatitis D virusu, genotip I'dir.

Background and aims: Serum ceruloplasmin level is an acute phase reactant. It may be difficult to determine its value in the diagnosis of Wilson's disease, especially in the hepatic form and serum ceruloplasmin levels may be decreased by chelation therapy. The aim of this study was to determine its diagnostic value and to evaluate whether there is a change in serum ceruloplasmin level with chelation therapy. Materials and methods: Serum ceruloplasmin levels of 34 patients with Wilson's disease (15 hepatic, six neurologic, four hepatoneurologic and nine asymptomatic) were measured by radial immunodiffusion at the time of diagnosis and at least six months after the beginning of therapy. The mean age at diagnosis was 20±1.65 years (range 7-46 years) and the mean duration of follow-up was 45.2±43.8 months (range, 6-75 months). Results:In the whole group, a low serum ceruloplasmin level (< 20 mg/dl) was found in 76.5 % (26) of patients and the mean serum ceruloplasmin levels were 13.1±6.8 mg /dl (range, 3.2-26.9 mg/dl) at baseline. However, low serum ceruloplasmin level was found in 94% (32, p=0.421) of patients and mean serum ceruloplasmin levels were decreased to 9.4±4.4mg /dl (range; 3-23.9, p< 0.003) during therapy. The serum ceruloplasmin level was decreased in seven pts (three hepatic, two hepatoneurologic and too asymptomatic) and only one low serum ceruloplasmin level increased during therapy. Conclusions: Although determination of the serum ceruloplasmin level is suggested to be the most useful screening test for Wilson's disease, a normal serum ceruloplasmin level does not exclude the disease. Serum ceruloplasmin levels in such patients may be decreased during chelation therapy. Even if the serum ceruloplasmin level is normal at the time of diagnosis other laboratory parameters suggestive of impaired copper metabolism should be evaluated in patients with a suspected diagnosis Wilson's disease., Giriş ve amaç: Serum seruloplazmini, akut faz reaktanlarından biridir. Bu durum, özellikle hepatik formdaki Wilson hastalığı tanısında, serum seruloplazmin düzeyinin kullanımını zorlaştırır. Aynı zamanda şelatör tedavi sırasında serum düzeylerinde azalma da görülebilir. Gereç ve yöntem: Bu çalışmada 34 Wilson hastasında (15 hepatik, 6 nöropsikiyatrik, 4 hepatonörolojik ve 9 asemptomatik) başlangıç seruloplazmin seviyesinin tanıda değeri ve tedavi seyrindeki değişiklikleri değerlendirilmiştir. Serulopazmin seviyesi radyal immunodiffüzyon tekniği ile, başlangıçta ve şelatör tedavinin en az 6. ayından sonra ölçülmüştür. Hastaların ortalama yaşı 20±9.6 yıl (7-46 yıl) ve ortalama takip süresi 36±25 ay (6-75 ay) idi. Bulgular: Tüm grupta, tedavi öncesi düşük serum seruloplazmin seviyesi (< 20 mg/dl) %76.5 (26 hasta) ve ortalama serum seruloplasmin düzeyi 13.1±6.8 mg /dl (3.2-26.9 mg/dl) idi. Tedavi seyrinde, düşük serum seruloplasmin düzeyi hastaların % 94'ünde (32 hasta, p=0.421) ve ortalama serum seruloplazmin düzeyi 9.4±4.4mg /dl (3-23.9, p< 0.003) idi, anlamlı azalmıştı. Serum seruloplazmin düzeyi 7 hastada (3 hepatik, 2 hepatonörolojik, 2 asemptomatik) anlamlı azalırken sadece 1 hastada (hepatik form) anlamlı olarak arttı. Sonuç: Bu sonuçlarla, düşük serum seruloplazmin düzeyi Wilson hastalığı tanısı ve aile taramasında en iyi testlerden biri olmasına rağmen, normal serum seruloplazmin düzeyi tanıyı ekarte ettirmez. Bu hastaların çoğunda şelatör tedavi seyrinde seruloplazmin düzeyleri anlamlı olarak azalmaktadır. Tanı aşamasında, serum seruloplazmin düzeyi normal ise, şüpheli vakalarda bozulmuş bakır metabolizmasının göstergesi diğer bir test ile yapılmalıdır.

A case of paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria due to portal vein thrombosis is presented., Portal ven trombozu, koagülopatiler, vaskülit veya miyeloproliferatif hastalıkların seyrinde görülen, ekstrahepatik presinüzoidal portal hipertansiyon nedenidir. Paroksismal nokturnal hemoglobinüri, daha çok hepatik venlerde tromboza neden olmakla birlikte, portal ven trombozunun nadir nedenleri arasındadır. Burada sebebi paroksismal nokturnal hemoglobinüri olan bir portal ven trombozu olgusu sunuldu.

Research regarding brand personality concept has been increasing in marketing literature since the pioneering study of Aaker (1997) in measuring perceived personality of a brand. Research regarding brand personality broadened from product brands to service brands, corporate brands and non-profit organizations brands. This research aims to measure corporate personality of a public agency. Personality of the public agency is measured from both external customer and internal customer views. Findings show that ten of the personality items of the public agency differentiate between two groups. According to the Factor Analysis results, seven factors appear and perception of these factors differentiates according to demographic features such as gender, education and income. 87

ÖZETCrohn hastalarının 25%’inde bağırsak dışı tutulum görülebilir. Literatürde Crohn hastalığı ile ilişkili rozacea fulminans ve bunun tedavisine ilişkin data yetersizdir. Rosacea fulminans lokal ve sistemik tedavilere dirençli otoimmun nedenlere bağlı olduğu düşünülen yüz dermatozudur. Bu çalışmada lokal tedavilere yanıtsız olup, sistemik steroid tedavisi sonrasında fulminan rozacea lezyonlarında gerileme olduğunu gözlemlediğimiz kolonik tutulumlu bir Crohn hastasını klinisyenlerin dikkatine sunmak istedik.Anahtar kelimeler: Fulminan rozasea, crohn, steroid.
