Abstract Upon engaging in physical activity, skeletal muscle synthesizes myokines, which not only facilitate crosstalk with various organs, including the brain, adipose tissue, bone, liver, gut, pancreas, and skin but also promote intramuscular signaling. Crosstalk is vital for maintaining various physiological processes. However, the specific interactions between skeletal muscle and intervertebral discs remain largely unexplored. β-Aminoisobutyric acid (BAIBA), an exercise-induced myokine and a metabolite of branched-chain amino acids in skeletal muscle, has emerged as a key player in this context. Our study demonstrated that exercise significantly elevates BAIBA levels in skeletal muscle, plasma, and nucleus pulposus (NP) tissues. Moreover, exercise enhances extracellular matrix (ECM) synthesis in NP tissues and upregulates L-BAIBA synthase in skeletal muscle. Both in vivo and in vitro evidence revealed that L-BAIBA impedes PANoptosis and ECM degradation in NP cells by activating the AMPK/NF-κB signaling pathway. These findings suggest that exercise, coupled with the resulting increase in L-BAIBA, may serve as an effective intervention to decelerate the progression of intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD). Consequently, L-BAIBA, which originates from skeletal muscle, is a promising new therapeutic approach for IDD.

The performance of a solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) is strongly associated with the activity and durability of the cathode, where the oxygen reduction reaction occurs. In this study, we report our findings in the development of an Nb-doped PrBa0.8Ca0.2Co2O6−δ (PrBa0.8Ca0.2Co2−xNbxO6−δ, x = 0, 0.025, 0.05, and 0.1, denoted as PBCCNx) perovskite composite as the SOFC cathode. Analyses of X-ray diffraction (XRD) patterns and energy-dispersive transmission electron microscopy (TEM-EDS) images suggest that after being treated at 950 °C in air, PBCCN0.05 mainly contains phases of Ca- and Nb-doped PrBaCo2O6−δ double perovskite, PrCoO3 perovskite with Ca and Nb doping, and Ba3Ca1.18Nb1.82O9−δ. When evaluated as an SOFC cathode, the PBCCN0.05 mixture has shown a low polarization resistance of 0.0074 Ω∙cm2 at 800 °C in La0.8Sr0.2Ga0.8Mg0.2O3 electrolyte symmetrical cells. Accordingly, anode-supported single cells with a configuration of Ni–Zr0.84Y0.16O2−δ (YSZ)/YSZ/Gd0.1Ce0.9O2−δ/PBCCN0.05 display high electrochemical performance, with a peak power density of 1.81 W∙cm−2 and a reasonable durability of 100 h at 800 °C. PBCCN0.05 possesses a higher concentration of oxygen vacancies, a faster oxygen surface adsorption‒dissociation rate, and an increased mass ratio of PrCoO3 perovskite with Ca and Nb doping compared to PrBa0.8Ca0.2Co2O6−δ without Nb doping.

Abstract Background Most patients with osteoporosis experience vertebral compression fracture (VCF), which significantly reduces their quality of life. These patients are at a high risk of secondary VCF regardless of treatment. Thus, accurate diagnosis of VCF is important for treating and preventing new fractures. We aimed to investigate the diagnostic and predictive value of quantitative bone imaging techniques for fresh VCF. Methods From November 2021 to March 2023, 34 patients with VCF were enrolled in this study, all of whom underwent routine 99mTc-MDP whole-body bone planar scan and local SPECT/CT imaging. The maximum standard uptake value (SUVmax) of 57 fresh VCF, 57 normal adjacent vertebrae, and 19 old VCF were measured. Based on the site of the fracture, fresh VCFs were regrouped into the intervertebral-type group and the margin-type group. Meanwhile, 52 patients who had no bone metastasis or VCFs in their bone scan were assigned to the control group. The SUVmax of 110 normal vertebral bodies and 10 old VCFs in the control group were measured. Results The median SUVmax of fresh VCF was 19.80, which was significantly higher than the SUVmax of other groups. The receiver operator characteristic (ROC) curve showed that the cut-off value of SUVmax was 9.925 for diagnosing fresh VCF. In previous studies, structure vibration control mainly focused on integer-order systems or commensurate fractional-order (FO) dynamics systems. In this paper, we propose an adaptive radial basis function (RBF) neural network feedback (ARBF-FK) controller for FO building structure vibration systems with viscoelastic (VE) dampers, uncertain structure parameters and unknown seismic waves. Firstly, use a FO multi-order state space description for FO building structural vibration systems. Then, the design of the ideal feedback controller is based on the stability theory of FO multi-order systems. Moreover, to reduce the cost and facilitate the practical implementation of the control, unknown earthquake seismic waves is approximated by a RBF neural network, the ARBF-FK controller is proposed. In addition, to guarantee the stability of the closed-loop control system and avoid falling into local optimum, network weights are adapted by the FO Lyapunov stability theory instead of gradient descent algorithms. Finally, the convergence rate of the system is analyzed and perform various tests on the ARBF-FK controller. The simulation results demonstrate that the ARBF-FK controller has superior performance and is very robust to control FO building structure vibration systems with uncertain structure parameters and unknown external earthquake excitation.

Objective With the rapid development of rail transit technology and intelligent improvement of urban public transportation, the digital and intelligent concept extends and spreads widely in urban rail transit system, gradually becoming the main goal of rail transit evolution. However, how to achieve the goal and implement concrete promotion mode is not clear, so it is necessary to analyze the realization path and related effects of digital intelligent rail transit. Method The development status of the medium and low capacity rail transit is analyzed. The development process of intelligent concept of rail transit is summarized. The intelligent design is proposed to improve the operation efficiency and reduce the maintenance cost of the medium and low capacity rail transit. The digital-intelligent promotion scheme for the medium and low capacity rail transit is designed by means of its lightweight scale characteristics and second mover advantage in technology. The advantages of the digital-intelligent promotion scheme and the influence of digital intelligent on rail transit design, operation and maintenance are analyzed. Result & Conclusion Based on the digital-intelligent strategy of CRRC(China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation) and with the rapid development of rail transit technology, the digital-intelligent development of medium and low capacity rail transit will greatly promote the transformation process of rail transit industry to intelligence.

Abstract In pursuit of the highest possible energy density, researchers shift their focus to the ultimate anode material, lithium metal (Li0), and high‐capacity cathode materials with high nickel content (Ni > 80%). The combination of these aggressive electrodes presents unprecedented challenges to the electrolyte. Here, we report a hybrid electrolyte consisting of a highly fluorinated ionic liquid and a weakly solvating fluorinated ether, whose hybridization structure enables the reversible operation of a battery chemistry based on Li0 and LiNiO2 (Ni = 100%), delivering nearly theoretical capacity of the latter (up to 249 mAh g−1) for >300 cycles with retention of 78.6% and in absence of unwanted morphological changes in both electrodes. Extensive characterization assisted by molecular dynamic simulation and density functional theory calculations reveals the function of the fluorinated ether to be far more profound than simple dilution and viscosity reduction. Instead, it induces drastic changes in Li+‐solvation environment, the consequence of which engenders simultaneous stabilization of electrode/electrolyte and interfacing via formation of respective interfacial chemistries. This study further unlocks fundamental knowledge underneath the prevailing “diluent strategy” that is extensively applied by the electrolyte researchers and opens more design space for the next‐generation electrolytes and interphases for these coveted battery chemistries.

Ammonia protonic ceramic fuel cells (NH3-PCFCs) are highly appealing energy conversion technologies due to their high efficiency, environmental responsibility, and benign safety features. Nonetheless, progress in NH3-PCFCs is notably impeded by the restricted performance and insufficient lifespan of standard Ni-cermet anodes for ammonia cracking, especially at 550 °C or below. Herein, we report an efficient ammonia cracking layer with a formula of xCo3O4/100-xBaZr0.8Y0.2O3-δ (Co/BZY) (x=10, 20, 30), which is deposited onto the Ni-BaZr0.1Ce0.7Y0.1Yb0.1O3−δ (BZCYYb) anode to significantly enhance the NH3 decomposition catalytic activity, thereby improving the performance and durability of NH3-PCFCs at low temperatures. The cells with the addition of a 20Co/80BZY anode catalytic layer (ACL) exhibit low area-specific resistance (ASR) and promising operational longevity under NH3 conditions. At 550°C, the NH3-PCFCs with a 20Co/80BZY ACL exhibit a high peak power density of 0.626 W cm−2 and promising operation durability. This study provides important guidance for constructing high-performance and durable NH3-PCFCs.

Abstract Objective The present study aimed to investigate the specific alterations of brain networks in patients with post‐stroke depression (PSD), and further assist in elucidating the brain mechanisms underlying the PSD which would provide supporting evidence for early diagnosis and interventions for the disease. Methods Resting‐state functional magnetic resonace imaging data were acquired from 82 nondepressed stroke patients (Stroke), 39 PSD patients, and 74 healthy controls (HC). Voxel‐wise degree centrality (DC) conjoined with seed‐based functional connectivity (FC) analyses were performed to investigate the PSD‐related connectivity alterations. The relationship between these alterations and depression severity was further examined in PSD patients. Results Relative to both Stroke and HC groups, (1) PSD showed increased centrality in regions within the default mode network (DMN), including contralesional angular gyrus (ANG), posterior cingulate cortex (PCC), and hippocampus (HIP). DC values in contralesional ANG positively correlated with the Patient Health Questionnaire‐9 (PHQ‐9) scores in PSD group. (2) PSD exhibited increased connectivity between these three seeds showing altered DC and regions within the DMN: bilateral medial prefrontal cortex and middle temporal gyrus and ipsilesional superior parietal gyrus, and regions outside the DMN: bilateral calcarine, ipsilesional inferior occipital gyrus and contralesional lingual gyrus, while decreased connectivity between contralesional ANG and contralesional supramarginal gyrus. Moreover, these FC alterations could predict PHQ‐9 scores in PSD group. Interpretation These findings highlight that PSD was related with increased functional connectivity strength in some areas within the DMN, which might be attribute to the specific alterations of connectivity between within DMN and outside DMN regions in PSD.

Exploring appropriate and effective nutritional interventions is crucial for the growth and development of LBW infants. Hydrolyzed protein formula has been suggested as a potential solution to prevent intestinal dysfunction and improve digestion and absorption in infants.ObjectivesThis study aimed to investigate the benefits of hydrolyzed protein formula on feeding intolerance, intestinal morphological development, and microbiota in a LBW piglet model.MethodsA total of 24 male piglets (3 d of age, 0.95–1.25 kg average BW) were assigned (8 pens/diet; 1 pigs/pen) into three dietary treatments and fed with a basic formula (BF), standard premature infant formula (SF) and hydrolyzed protein formula (HF) respectively, for 7 d. After the piglets sacrifice, growth performance, amino acid metabolism and intestinal morphology were assessed. 16S rRNA sequencing and microbial metabolic phenotypes analyzed the effects of different formula treatments on intestinal flora structure of LBW piglets.ResultsThe HF diet reduced the rates of diarrhea and milk vomiting were reduced by 20.44% (p > 0.05) and 58.44% (p > 0.05), and decreased the crypt depth in the ileum while increasing the ratio of villus height/crypt depth and the mRNA expressions of y+LAT1 and b0,+AT in the ileum (p

Abstract Lactate plays a critical role as an energy substrate, metabolite, and signaling molecule in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Intracellular lactate‐derived protein lysine lactylation (Kla) is identified as a contributor to the progression of HCC. Liver cancer stem cells (LCSCs) are believed to be the root cause of phenotypic and functional heterogeneity in HCC. However, the impact of Kla on the biological processes of LCSCs remains poorly understood. Here enhanced glycolytic metabolism, lactate accumulation, and elevated levels of lactylation are observed in LCSCs compared to HCC cells. H3K56la was found to be closely associated with tumourigenesis and stemness of LCSCs. Notably, a comprehensive examination of the lactylome and proteome of LCSCs and HCC cells identified the ALDOA K230/322 lactylation, which plays a critical role in promoting the stemness of LCSCs. Furthermore, this study demonstrated the tight binding between aldolase A (ALDOA) and dead box deconjugate enzyme 17 (DDX17), which is attenuated by ALDOA lactylation, ultimately enhancing the regulatory function of DDX17 in maintaining the stemness of LCSCs. This investigation highlights the significance of Kla in modulating the stemness of LCSCs and its impact on the progression of HCC. Targeting lactylation in LCSCs may offer a promising therapeutic approach for treating HCC.

Currently, precise spraying of sweet potatoes is mainly accomplished through semi-mechanized or single spraying robots, which results in low operating efficiency. Moreover, it is time-consuming and labor-intensive, and the pests and diseases cannot be eliminated in time. Based on multi robot navigation technology, multiple robots can work simultaneously, improving work efficiency. One of the main challenges faced by multi robot navigation technology is to develop a safe and robust collision avoidance strategy, so that each robot can safely and efficiently navigate from its starting position to the expected target. In this article, we propose a low-cost multi-robot collision avoidance method to solve the problem that multiple robots are prone to collision when working in field at the same time. This method has achieved good results in simulation. In particular, our collision avoidance method predicts the possibility of collision based on the robot’s position and environmental information, and changes the robot’s path in advance, instead of waiting for the robot to make a collision avoidance decision when it is closer. Finally, we demonstrate that a multi-robot collision avoidance approach provides an excellent solution for safe and effective autonomous navigation of a single robot working in complex sweet potato fields. Our collision avoidance method allows the robot to move forward effectively in the field without getting stuck. More importantly, this method does not require expensive hardware and computing power, nor does it require tedious parameter tuning.

Abstract Constructing an artificial solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) on lithium metal electrodes is a promising approach to address the rampant growth of dangerous lithium morphologies (dendritic and dead Li0) and low Coulombic efficiency that plague development of lithium metal batteries, but how Li+ transport behavior in the SEI is coupled with mechanical properties remains unknown. We demonstrate here a facile and scalable solution-processed approach to form a Li3N-rich SEI with a phase-pure crystalline structure that minimizes the diffusion energy barrier of Li+ across the SEI. Compared with a polycrystalline Li3N SEI obtained from conventional practice, the phase-pure/single crystalline Li3N-rich SEI constitutes an interphase of high mechanical strength and low Li+ diffusion barrier. We elucidate the correlation among Li+ transference number, diffusion behavior, concentration gradient, and the stability of the lithium metal electrode by integrating phase field simulations with experiments. We demonstrate improved reversibility and charge/discharge cycling behaviors for both symmetric cells and full lithium-metal batteries constructed with this Li3N-rich SEI. These studies may cast new insight into the design and engineering of an ideal artificial SEI for stable and high-performance lithium metal batteries.

Abstract Regulating metabolic disorders has become a promising focus in treating intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD). A few drugs regulating metabolism, such as atorvastatin, metformin, and melatonin, show positive effects in treating IDD. Glutamine participates in multiple metabolic processes, including glutaminolysis and glycolysis; however, its impact on IDD is unclear. The current study reveals that glutamine levels are decreased in severely degenerated human nucleus pulposus (NP) tissues and aging Sprague-Dawley (SD) rat nucleus pulposus tissues, while lactate accumulation and lactylation are increased. Supplementary glutamine suppresses glycolysis and reduces lactate production, which downregulates adenosine-5’-monophosphate-activated protein kinase α (AMPKα) lactylation and upregulates AMPKα phosphorylation. Moreover, glutamine treatment reduces NP cell senescence and enhances autophagy and matrix synthesis via inhibition of glycolysis and AMPK lactylation, and glycolysis inhibition suppresses lactylation. Our results indicate that glutamine could prevent IDD by glycolysis inhibition-decreased AMPKα lactylation, which promotes autophagy and suppresses NP cell senescence.

Abstract High thermal conductive polymers have become more important because equipment requires high performance, high-energy density, and high integration. There are different strategies to make high thermal conductive polymers, among which is the synthesis of polymers in the liquid crystal phase. However, the thermal conductivity of such material is rarely beyond 1 W m−1 K−1 because of the disordered molecular directionality. The disordered directionality between crystal zones limits the thermal conductivity in a specific direction. Here, we show a method for unifying the direction of crystal zones by applying an external electric field on the liquid crystal monomers. Meanwhile, by exposing the transparent equipment and specially designed photopolymerisable monomer in UV light, the liquid crystal monomer is in situ polymerised into a liquid crystal polymer with a high intrinsic thermal conductivity of 1.02 W m−1 K−1. The molecular alignment was characterised and resulted in the resultant high conductivity.

Traditional methods of pest control for sweet potatoes cause the waste of pesticides and land pollution, but the target detection algorithm based on deep learning can control the precise spraying of pesticides on sweet potato plants and prevent most pesticides from entering the land. Aiming at the problems of low detection accuracy of sweet potato plants and the complex of target detection models in natural environments, an improved algorithm based on YOLOv8s is proposed, which can accurately identify early sweet potato plants. First, this method uses an efficient network model to enhance the information flow in the channel, obtain more effective global features in the high-level semantic structure, and reduce model parameters and computational complexity. Then, cross-scale feature fusion and the general efficient aggregation architecture are used to further enhance the network feature extraction capability. Finally, the loss function is replaced with InnerFocaler-IoU (IFIoU) to improve the convergence speed and robustness of the model. Experimental results showed that the mAP0.5 and model size of the improved network reached 96.3% and 7.6 MB. Compared with the YOLOv8s baseline network, the number of parameters was reduced by 67.8%, the amount of computation was reduced by 53.1%, and the mAP0.5:0.95 increased by 3.5%. The improved algorithm has higher detection accuracy and a lower parameter and calculation amount. This method realizes the accurate detection of sweet potato plants in the natural environment and provides technical support and guidance for reducing pesticide waste and pesticide pollution.

Abstract Recent studies have highlighted the biological significance of cuproptosis in disease occurrence and development. However, it remains unclear whether cuproptosis signaling also has potential impacts on tumor initiation and prognosis of gastric cancer (GC). In this study, 16 cuproptosis‐related genes (CRGs) transcriptional profiles were harnessed to perform the regularized latent variable model‐based clustering in GC. A cuproptosis signature risk scoring (CSRS) scheme, based on a weighted sum of principle components of the CRGs, was used to evaluate the prognosis and risk of individual tumors of GC. Four distinct cuproptosis signature‐based clusters, characterized by differential expression patterns of CRGs, were identified among 1136 GC samples across three independent databases. The four clusters were also associated with different clinical outcomes and tumor immune contexture. Based on the CSRS, GC patients can be divided into CSRS‐High and CSRS‐Low subtypes. We found that DBT, MTF1, and ATP7A were significantly elevated in the CSRS‐High subtype, while SLC31A1, GCSH, LIAS, DLAT, FDX1, DLD, and PDHA1 were increased in the CSRS‐Low subtype. Patients with CSRS‐Low score were characterized by prolonged survival time. Further analysis indicated that CSRS‐Low score also correlated with greater tumor mutation burden (TMB) and higher mutation rates of significantly mutated genes (SMG) in GC. In addition, the CSRS‐High subtype harbored more significantly amplified focal regions related to tumorigenesis (3q27.1, 12p12.1, 11q13.3, etc.) than the CSRS‐Low tumors. Drug sensitivity analyses revealed the potential compounds for the treatment of gastric cancer with CSRS‐High score, which were experimentally validated using GC cells. This study highlights that cuproptosis signature‐based subtyping is significantly associated with different clinical features and molecular landscape of GC. Quantitative evaluation of the CSRS of individual tumors will strengthen our understanding of the occurrence and development of cuproptosis and the treatment progress of GC.

The fabrication of devices that integrate two or more topological states simultaneously and achieve precise control over their edge state and interface states holds paramount importance. We report the quantized edge-channel transport and spin-polarized interface states in folded graphene ribbons under a magnetic field and predict that fully spin-polarized states can be generated at the interface. Our results also suggest that the system has the potential to exhibit the quantum spin Hall phase, the quantum Hall phase, and a coexistence of both phases. These phases can be manipulated by applying a bias potential and Zeeman splitting. Furthermore, the quantized conductance demonstrates a plateau at 3e2/h, which can be attributed to the presence of fully spin-polarized states. These outcomes provide a foundation for future explorations and manipulations of this novel form of edge-channel transport.

Reversible protonic ceramic electrochemical cells (R-PCECs) demonstrate great feasibility for efficient energy storage and conversion. One critical challenge for the development of R-PCECs is the design of novel air electrodes with the characteristics of high catalytic activity and acceptable durability. Here, we report a donor doping of Hf into the B-site of a cobalt-based double perovskite with a nominal formula of PrBa0.8Ca0.2Co1.9Hf0.1O5+δ (PBCCHf0.1), which is naturally reconfigured to a double perovskite PrBa0.8-xCa0.2Co1.9Hf0.1-xO5+δ (PBCCHf0.1-x) backbone and nano-sized BaHfO3 (BHO) on the surface of PBCCHf0.1−x. The air electrode demonstrates enhanced catalytic activity and durability (a stable polarization resistance of 0.269 ​Ω ​cm2 for ∼100 ​h at 600 ​°C), due likely to the fast surface exchange process and bulk diffusion process. When employed as an air electrode of R-PCECs, a cell with PBCCHf0.1 air electrode demonstrates encouraging performances in modes of the fuel cell (FC) and electrolysis (EL) at 600 ​°C: a peak power density of 0.998 ​W ​cm−2 and a current density of −1.613 ​A ​cm−2 ​at 1.3 ​V (with acceptable Faradaic efficiencies). More importantly, the single-cell with PBCCHf0.1 air electrode demonstrates good cycling stability, switching back and forth from FC mode to EL mode ±0.5 ​A ​cm−2 for 200 ​h and 50 cycles.

Abstract The senescence of aortic valve interstitial cells (VICs) plays a critical role in the progression of calcific aortic valve disease (CAVD). However, the precise mechanisms underlying the senescence of VICs remain unclear, demanding the identification of a novel target to mitigate this process. Previous studies have highlighted the anti‐aging potential of morusin. Thus, this study aimed to explore the therapeutic potential of morusin in CAVD. Cellular experiments reveal that morusin effectively suppresses cellular senescence and cause a shift toward osteogenic differentiation of VICs in vitro. Mechanistically, morusin activate the Nrf2‐mediated antiaging signaling pathway by downregulating CCND1 expression and aiding Keap1 degradation through Trim 25. This activation lead to the upregulated expression of antioxidant genes, thus reducing reactive oxygen species production and thereby preventing VIC osteogenic differentiation. In vivo experiments in ApoE−/− mice on a high‐fat Western diet demonstrate the positive effect of morusin in mitigating aortic valve calcification. These findings emphasize the antiaging properties of morusin and its potential as a therapeutic agent for CAVD.

BackgroundPancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is frequently diagnosed in advanced stages, necessitating pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) as a primary therapeutic approach. However, PD surgery can engender intricate complications. Thus, understanding the factors influencing postoperative complications documented in electronic medical records and their impact on survival rates is crucial for improving overall patient outcomes.MethodsA total of 749 patients were divided into two groups: 598 (79.84%) chose the RPD (Robotic pancreaticoduodenectomy) procedure and 151 (20.16%) chose the LPD (Laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectomy) procedure. We used correlation analysis, survival analysis, and decision tree models to find the similarities and differences about postoperative complications and prognostic survival.ResultsPancreatic cancer, known for its aggressiveness, often requires pancreaticoduodenectomy as an effective treatment. In predictive models, both BMI and surgery duration weigh heavily. Lower BMI correlates with longer survival, while patients with heart disease and diabetes have lower survival rates. Complications like delayed gastric emptying, pancreatic fistula, and infection are closely linked post-surgery, prompting conjectures about their causal mechanisms. Interestingly, we found no significant correlation between nasogastric tube removal timing and delayed gastric emptying, suggesting its prompt removal post-decompression.ConclusionThis study aimed to explore predictive factors for postoperative complications and survival in PD patients. Effective predictive models enable early identification of high-risk individuals, allowing timely interventions. Higher BMI, heart disease, or diabetes significantly reduce survival rates in pancreatic cancer patients post-PD. ObjectiveThe present study endeavored to investigate the interconnection between obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and cognitive function, alongside the manifestations of depression and anxiety. Simultaneously, an analysis was conducted to discern the factors exerting influence upon cognitive function.MethodsA cohort of 102 patients, who had undergone polysomnography (PSG) at Binhu Hospital, Anhui Medical University, between January 2022 and June 2023, was encompassed in the study. Employing the PSG findings, these individuals were classified into two distinct categories: the grouping consisted of those with either negligible or mild OSA, and the other comprised individuals with moderate to severe OSA. Utilizing the Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA-Beijing), Stroop Color and Word Test (SCWT), Digit Span Test (DST), Self-rating Depression Scale (SDS), and Self-rating Anxiety Scale (SAS), scores were recorded and analysed for each of the respective assessments. Additionally, discrepancies and associations between these groups were also scrutinized.ResultsThe group exhibiting moderate to severe OSA demonstrated significantly elevated measurements in parameters such as neck circumference, BMI, completion times for SCWT-A, B, C, Sleep Inefficiency Index (SIE), SAS, and SDS, in comparison to the No or Mild OSA group. This research investigated the effect of different storage temperatures on the compositional changes, physicochemical characteristics, and functional properties of hawthorn berries. Storage at 25 °C resulted in the gradual decrease of the moisture, hardness, sugar, titratable acid, and colour of hawthorn berries. These changes decreased with decreasing storage temperature, and the minimal changes happened at frozen storage (-18 °C). Similarly, the decreasing rate of ascorbic acid, extractable polyphenol (EPP), and flavonoids during storage also decreased with reducing storage temperature (25 °C > 4 °C > -18 °C). Hydrolysable polyphenol (HPP) was relatively stable during the hawthorn storage, and non-extractable proanthocyanidins (NEPA) increased with decreasing temperature. Ferric reducing antioxidant power (FRAP) of EPP and HPP decreased at 25 °C, while polyphenolic oxidase (PPO) and peroxidase (POD) activities decreased. Decreasing the storage temperature can improve the stability of the nutritional properties, antioxidant capacity, and enzyme activity of hawthorn. The specific storage temperature depends on the final processing conditions and the purposes of the hawthorn berries.

N6-methyladenosine (m6A) is the most common modification in eukaryotic RNAs. Growing research indicates that m6A methylation is crucial for a multitude of biological processes. However, research on the m6A modifications in the regulation of porcine muscle growth is lacking. In this study, we identified differentially expressed genes in the neonatal period of muscle development between Large White (LW) and NingXiang (NX) pigs and further reported m6A methylation patterns via MeRIP-seq. We found that m6A modification regulates muscle cell development, myofibrils, cell cycle, and phosphatase regulator activity during the neonatal phase of muscle development. Interestingly, differentially expressed genes in LW and NX pigs were mainly enriched in pathways involved in protein synthesis. Furthermore, we performed a conjoint analysis of MeRIP-seq and RNA-seq data and identified 27 differentially expressed and m6A-modified genes. Notably, a typical muscle-specific envelope transmembrane protein, WFS1, was differentially regulated by m6A modifications in LW and NX pigs. We further revealed that the m6A modification accelerated the degradation of WFS1 in a YTHDF2-dependent manner. Noteworthy, we identified a single nucleotide polymorphism (C21551T) within the last exon of WFS1 that resulted in variable m6A methylation, contributing to the differing WFS1 expression levels observed in LW and NX pigs. Our study conducted a comprehensive analysis of the m6A modification on NX and LW pigs during the neonatal period of muscle development, and elucidated the mechanism by which m6A regulates the differential expression of WFS1 in the two breeds.

In this paper, we generated polarization-independent ring-Airy beams by designing metasurfaces that can realize modulations of both phase and amplitude. In numerical simulation, such metasurfaces are designed by placing subwavelength rectangular slits in Au film uniformly. Two orthogonal types of slits, with orientation angles of 45 and −45 degrees, are used to obtain the binary phase profile in the light transmitted from the metasurface under illumination with either right circular polarization (RCP) or left circular polarization (LCP). This satisfies the phase required for Airy beam generation. Meanwhile, the difference between the phase profile under RCP illumination and that under LCP illumination is right 2π, which can be regarded as the same. This makes the metasurface available to generate Airy beams regardless of incident polarization. We also analyzed the auto-focusing, self-healing, and frequency-response properties of the generated Airy beams with different parameters. This work opens up more opportunities for applications of Airy beams.

Sludge lysis liquid is a highly concentrated solution containing macromolecular organic matter produced during thermal hydrolysis of sludge. Anaerobic digestion is commonly used to achieve degradation conversion and resource recovery. However, during the thermal conversion process, the presence of refractory organic matter such as Melad reaction products can result in low anaerobic conversion efficiency and methane yield. To address the issue, this study proposes a method for the intensive treatment and resource recovery of sludge lysis liquid using a microbial electrolysis-assisted anaerobic digestion (ME-AD) system. The study aimed to investigate the degradation efficacy of macromolecular organic matter and the conversion efficiency of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs). The results of the study showed that the direct treatment of raw lysis liquid with ME-AD improved the anaerobic degradation efficiency compared to the usual treatment, which involved a 5-fold dilution of lysis liquid. The COD removal rate was 40.2% in the renewal batch cycle, which was 15.6% higher than the conventional anaerobic conversion. Additionally, the complex organic matter in the intensively degraded sludge lysis liquid was converted to SCFAs, which were produced at a maximum concentration of 40.0×10^5 mg/L during the fifth day of intensive anaerobic fermentation. Among the SCFAs, acetic acid had the highest percentage at 68.1%. This study provides a new approach to address the treatment of sludgelys is liquid and utilization of sludge resources.

With the clinical prevalence of drug-resistant pathogenic bacteria, developing non-antibiotic strategies to treat multi-drug-resistant bacterial infections is urgent yet challenging. Ferroptosis is a non-apoptotic form of regulated cell death that can overcome drug resistance. Emerging evidence shows the potential of triggering ferroptosis-like for anti-infection therapy, but the direct delivery of iron species is inefficient and may cause detrimental effects. Herein, CuFeS2 nanozyme is revealed as a ferroptosis-like initiator to eradicate bacterial infections for effective anti-infection therapy. Upon activating by visible light irradiation or hydrogen peroxide, the as-prepared CuFeS2 nanozyme can significantly expedite reactive oxygen species generation, deplete intracellular glutathione, and interfere with respiratory metabolisms, resulting in lipid peroxidation-driven ferroptotic damage. Additionally, the CuFeS2 displays good photothermal conversion capacity under near-infrared light irradiation, further augmenting the antibacterial efficiency. Accordingly, the CuFeS2 nanozyme shows potent antibacterial activity against Gram-negative Escherichia coli and Gram-positive methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus strains in vitro. Moreover, it shows excellent biocompatibility and robust anti-infection effects in MRSA-infected wounds in vivo. This ferroptosis-like antibacterial strategy may open up new insights into the treatment of drug-resistant pathogen infection.

Cartilage injury affects numerous individuals, but the efficient repair of damaged cartilage is still a problem in clinic. Hydrogel is a potent scaffold candidate for tissue regeneration, but it remains a big challenge to improve its mechanical property and figure out the interaction of chondrocytes and stiffness. Herein, a novel hybrid hydrogel with tunable stiffness was fabricated based on methacrylated gelatin (GelMA) and iron oxide nanoparticles (Fe2O3) through chemical bonding. The stiffness of Fe2O3/GelMA hybrid hydrogel was controlled by adjusting the concentration of magnetic nanoparticles. The hydrogel platform with tunable stiffness modulated its cellular properties including cell morphology, microfilaments and Young's modulus of chondrocytes. Interestingly, Fe2O3/GelMA hybrid hydrogel promoted oxidative phosphorylation of mitochondria and facilitated catabolism of lipids in chondrocytes. As a result, more ATP and metabolic materials generated for cellular physiological activities and organelle component replacements in hybrid hydrogel group compared to pure GelMA hydrogel. Furthermore, implantation of Fe2O3/GelMA hybrid hydrogel in the cartilage defect rat model verified its remodeling potential. This study provides a deep understanding of the bio-mechanism of Fe2O3/GelMA hybrid hydrogel interaction with chondrocytes and indicates the hydrogel platform for further application in tissue engineering.

Abstract Fluorides have been identified as a key ingredient in interphases supporting aggressive battery chemistries. While the precursor for these fluorides must be pre-stored in electrolyte components and only delivered at extreme potentials, the chemical source of fluorine so far has been confined to either negatively-charge anions or fluorinated molecules, whose presence in the inner-Helmholtz layer of electrodes, and consequently their contribution to the interphasial chemistry, is restricted. To pre-store fluorine source on positive-charged species, here we show a cation that carries fluorine in its structure is synthesized and its contribution to interphasial chemistry is explored for the very first time. An electrolyte carrying fluorine in both cation and anion brings unprecedented interphasial chemistries that translate into superior battery performance of a lithium-metal battery, including high Coulombic efficiency of up to 99.98%, and Li0-dendrite prevention for 900 hours. The significance of this fluorinated cation undoubtedly extends to other advanced battery systems beyond lithium, all of which universally require kinetic protection of highly fluorinated interphases.

Since the utilization of anthracyclines in cancer therapy, severe cardiotoxicity has become a major obstacle. The major challenge in treating cancer patients with anthracyclines is minimizing cardiotoxicity without compromising antitumor efficacy. Herein, histone deacetylase SIRT6 expression was reduced in plasma of patients treated with anthracyclines-based chemotherapy regimens. Furthermore, overexpression of SIRT6 alleviated doxorubicin-induced cytotoxicity in cardiomyocytes, and potentiated cytotoxicity of doxorubicin in multiple cancer cell lines. Moreover, SIRT6 overexpression ameliorated doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity and potentiated antitumor efficacy of doxorubicin in mice, suggesting that SIRT6 overexpression could be an adjunctive therapeutic strategy during doxorubicin treatment. Mechanistically, doxorubicin-impaired mitochondria led to decreased mitochondrial respiration and ATP production. And SIRT6 enhanced mitochondrial biogenesis and mitophagy by deacetylating and inhibiting Sgk1. Thus, SIRT6 overexpression coordinated metabolic remodeling from glycolysis to mitochondrial respiration during doxorubicin treatment, which was more conducive to cardiomyocyte metabolism, thus protecting cardiomyocytes but not cancer cells against doxorubicin-induced energy deficiency. In addition, ellagic acid, a natural compound that activates SIRT6, alleviated doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity and enhanced doxorubicin-mediated tumor regression in tumor-bearing mice. These findings provide a preclinical rationale for preventing cardiotoxicity by activating SIRT6 in cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, but also advancing the understanding of the crucial role of SIRT6 in mitochondrial homeostasis.

Abstract Aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AHR) is a ligand-dependent transcription factor. 2,3,7,8-tetrachlorodibenzo-p-dioxin (TCDD) is a classical exogenous synthetic ligand of AHR that has significant immunotoxic effects. Activation of AHR has beneficial effects on intestinal immune responses, but inactivation or overactivation of AHR can lead to intestinal immune dysregulation and even intestinal diseases. Sustained potent activation of AHR by TCDD results in impairment of the intestinal epithelial barrier. However, currently, AHR research has been more focused on elucidating physiologic AHR function than on dioxin toxicity. The appropriate level of AHR activation plays a role in maintaining gut health and protecting against intestinal inflammation. Therefore, AHR offers a crucial target to modulate intestinal immunity and inflammation. Herein, we summarize our current understanding of the relationship between AHR and intestinal immunity, the ways in which AHR affects intestinal immunity and inflammation, the effects of AHR activity on intestinal immunity and inflammation, and the effect of dietary habits on intestinal health through AHR. Finally, we discuss the therapeutic role of AHR in maintaining gut homeostasis and relieving inflammation. Graphical Abstract

Net-pen aquaculture, one of the primary forms of aquaculture in shallow lakes, has generated substantial economic benefits but has also triggered eutrophication and ecological degradation. Therefore, the accurate and scientific dynamic monitoring of aquaculture areas is of the utmost importance. However, existing studies have predominantly employed annual monitoring, failing to fully exploit the unique advantage of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery for seasonal, monthly or more frequent time scale monitoring. This study aimed to develop an approach for monitoring the monthly dynamics of net-pen aquaculture using Sentinel-1 time series images. We integrated threshold segmentation and temporal consistency checking to extract spatial data on the net-pen aquaculture from eight typical shallow lakes in Jiangsu Province, one of the eastern coastal provinces of China, from 2016 to 2021. This study yielded the following results: (1) The VV polarization image offers a particularly noticeable contrast between net-pen aquaculture structures and their surroundings and checking for temporal consistency can help alleviate the problem of distinguishing between changes in error caused by misclassification and actual changes that occurred. The overall accuracy of the net-pen aquaculture extraction results was over 85%. (2) This approach not only enables the analysis of changes in the aquaculture area and fence length but can also identify key time points. For instance, the net-pen aquaculture area in Gehu Lake experienced a rapid decline from May to November 2018, the decrease in while Eastern Taihu Lake occurred from September 2018 to June 2019. (3) The removal of net-pen aquaculture in lakes within the Jiangsu Province is primarily attributed to policy responses. In response to the ecological river and lake action plan implemented in Jiangsu Province, a decrease was observed in both the aquaculture areas and fence lengths across most lakes from 2016 to 2021. These results can provide a reference for lake management and ensuring the effective implementation of related policies.

Background: Endovascular thrombectomy has been confirmed to be an effective therapy for acute ischemic stroke (AIS). However, how functional brain networks reorganize after restoration of blood supply in AIS patients, and whether the degree of reperfusion associates with functional network changes remains unclear. Methods: Resting-state fMRI data were collected from 43 AIS patients with anterior circulation occlusion after thrombectomy and 37 healthy controls (HCs). Both static and dynamic functional connectivity (FC) within four advanced functional networks including dorsal attention network (DAN), ventral attention network (VAN), executive control network (ECN) and default mode network (DMN), were calculated and compared between post-thrombectomy patients and HCs, and between two subgroups of post-thrombectomy patients with different reperfusion conditions. Results: As compared to HCs, patients showed significant differences in static FC of four functional networks, and in dynamic FC of DAN, ECN and DMN. Furthermore, patients with better reperfusion conditions exhibited increased static FC with precuneus, and altered dynamic FC within precuneus. Moreover, these alterations were associated with clinical assessments of stroke severity and functional recovery in post-thrombectomy patients. Conclusions: Collectively, these findings may provide the potential imaging markers for assessment of thrombectomy efficacy and help establish the specific rehabilitation treatments for post-thrombectomy patients.

Wound repair, particularly chronic nonhealing wound repair, is a global health issue that affects millions of people worldwide. As an effective and safe therapeutic reagent, gas molecules in tissue repair have attracted considerable attention. Recent studies have shown that gas therapy (GT) plays an essential role in all phases of wound repair, including anti‐inflammatory and antimicrobial modulation, cell proliferation and migration, proangiogenesis, and extracellular matrix remodeling. This review aims to summarize recent progress in developing GT for wound repair. The characteristics of gas molecules with therapeutic functions, such as oxygen, nitric oxide, carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulfide, and others (such as sulfur dioxide, hydrogen, carbon dioxide, and plasma) in wound healing are introduced. GT has transitioned from pure gases to inorganic/organic materials as gas‐releasing materials, including gas‐producing and gas‐loaded materials, and controlled/long‐lasting stable‐releasing biomaterials. Finally, the limitations and prospects in the field of GT are analyzed and summarized.

ABSTRACTViruses have developed different strategies to hijack mitophagy to facilitate their replication. However, whether and how African swine fever virus (ASFV) regulates mitophagy are largely unknown. Here, we found that the ASFV-encoded p17 induced mitophagy. Coimmunoprecipitation/mass spectrometry assays identified translocase of outer mitochondrial membrane 70 (TOMM70) as the protein that interacted with p17. The binding of TOMM70 to p17 promoted the binding of the mitophagy receptor SQSTM1 to TOMM70, led to engulfment of mitochondria by autophagosomes, and consequently decreased the number of mitochondria. Consistently, the levels of TOMM70 and TOMM20 decreased substantially after p17 expression or ASFV infection. Furthermore, p17-mediated mitophagy resulted in the degradation of mitochondrial antiviral signalling proteins and inhibited the production of IFN-α, IL-6 and TNFα. Overall, our findings suggest that ASFV p17 regulates innate immunity by inducing mitophagy via the interaction of SQSTM1 with TOMM70.

ObjectiveDecrease in free thyroid hormone T3 (FT3) can be used as an independent prognostic indicator for the risk of death in ICUs. However, FT3 as a predictive marker is hindered by its accuracy. The study introduces the concept of dynamic FT3 data as a means to bolster the value of FT3 as a prognostic tool. Therefore, the aim of this study is to investigate the prognostic value of dynamic FT3 evolution in a comprehensive ICU setting, analyze the consistency between dynamic FT3 changes and variations in disease severity, and explore the feasibility of FT3 as an objective indicator for real-time clinical treatment feedback.MethodsEmploying a single-center prospective observational study, FT3 measurements were taken on multiple days following enrollment, corresponding clinical data were collected. Abstract Background DNA double-strand breaks (DSBs) are among the most deleterious DNA lesions, and they can cause cancer if improperly repaired. Recent chromosome conformation capture techniques, such as Hi-C, have enabled the identification of relationships between the 3D chromatin structure and DSBs, but little is known about how to explain these relationships, especially from global contact maps, or their contributions to DSB formation. Results Here, we propose a framework that integrates graph neural network (GNN) to unravel the relationship between 3D chromatin structure and DSBs using an advanced interpretable technique GNNExplainer. We identify a new chromatin structural unit named the DNA fragility–associated chromatin interaction network (FaCIN). FaCIN is a bottleneck-like structure, and it helps to reveal a universal form of how the fragility of a piece of DNA might be affected by the whole genome through chromatin interactions. Moreover, we demonstrate that neck interactions in FaCIN can serve as chromatin structural determinants of DSB formation. Conclusions Our study provides a more systematic and refined view enabling a better understanding of the mechanisms of DSB formation under the context of the 3D genome.

Abstract Purpose In this retrospective study, we compared the maximum standardized uptake values (SUVmax) of parathyroid lesions and the target-to-background ratio (TBR) of parathyroid lesions to thyroid tissue in early-phase single-photon emission computed tomography/computed tomography (SPECT/CT) versus delayed-phase SPECT/CT in patients with secondary hyperparathyroidism (SHPT) in order to determine the optimal timing of 99mTc- methoxyisobutylisonitrile (99mTc-MIBI) SPECT/CT imaging. Methods Seventeen patients with a history of chronic kidney failure stage 5 on hemodialysis, underwent pre-operative parathyroid scintigraphy for detection and localization of parathyroid lesions. Retrospective analysis was conducted for lesions with focal accumulation of 99mTc-MIBI. All patients underwent dual-phase 99mTc-MIBI parathyroid scintigraphy and dual-phase SPECT/CT. SUVmax of parathyroid lesions and thyroid tissues was measured. Results Mean SUVmax of parathyroid lesions was 4.86 on early-phase and 2.58 on delayed-phase SPECT/CT, respectively. Abstract While double perovskites of PrBaCo2O6 (PBC) have been extensively developed as the cathodes for proton‐conducting solid oxide fuel cells (H‐SOFCs), the effects of Sr‐ or Ca‐doping at the A site on the activity and stability of the oxygen reduction reaction are yet to be fully studied. Here, the effect of A‐site doping on the oxygen reduction reaction activity and stability has been studied by evaluating the performance of both symmetrical and single cells. It is shown that Ca‐doped PBC (PrBa0.8Ca0.2Co2O6, PBCC) shows a slightly smaller polarization resistance (0.076 Ω cm2) than that (0.085 Ω cm2) of Sr‐doped PBC (PrBa0.8Sr0.2Co2O6, PBSC) at 700°C in wet air. Moreover, the degradation rate of PBCC is 0.0003 Ω cm2 h−1 (0.3% h−1) in 100 h, about 1/10 of that of PBSC at 700°C in wet air. In addition, it is also confirmed that single cells with PBCC cathode show higher peak power density (1.22 W cm−2 vs. 1.08 W cm−2 at 650°C) and better durability (degradation rate of 0.1% h−1 vs. 0.13% h−1) than those with PBSC cathode. The distribution of relaxation time analyses suggests that the better stability of the PBCC electrode may come from the fast and stable surface oxygen exchange process in the medium frequency range of the electrochemical impedance spectrum.

Abstract A novel hue‐preserving and color enrichment color image enhancement algorithm without gamut problem is proposed in this paper. First, the pixel values of the input image are stretched to the edge of RGB color space to improve the saturation. Then, the pixel values are converted to the complementary color space for saturation enhancement, so that the whole method has no gamut problem and keeps the contrast intensity of the output picture unchanged. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed algorithm can overcome the poor color effect of traditional methods in the condition of low exposure and can restore the picture color better. Besides, higher saturation can be achieved through the proposed algorithm than up‐to‐date color image enhancement methods.

Abstract The increasing trend in the incidence of adverse perinatal outcomes is a public health concern globally as well as in China. However, the causes of the increasing trend are not well understood. The present tertiary-hospital-based retrospective study (2011–2019) aims to determine the secular trends and age-period-cohort effect on adverse perinatal outcomes in Hubei, China. The age-standardized incidence rates of adverse perinatal outcomes significantly decreased such as preterm births by 22% [AAPC − 3.4% (95% CI − 7.8, − 1.2)], low birth weight (LBW) by 28.5% [AAPC − 4.7% (95% CI − 6.0, − 3.3)], and fetal distress by 64.2% [AAPC − 14.0% (95% CI − 17.8, − 10.0)] during 2011–2019. Both extremes of maternal age groups (18–20 years and 42–44 years) had a higher risk ratio for adverse perinatal outcomes including preterm birth, perinatal mortality, LBW, low ponderal index (LPI), low Apgar score, and congenital defect compared to the reference age group (30–32 years). A higher risk ratio for perinatal mortality, intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR), and fetal distress and a lower risk ratio for preterm births and LBW were observed in the period 2017–2019. Both the young cohort (1997–1999) and the old cohort (1976–1969) had a higher risk ratio for preterm birth, perinatal mortality, macrosomia, and congenital defect compared to the reference cohort (1982–1984). In conclusion, some of the adverse perinatal outcomes incidence significantly decreased in the last 9 years in Hubei. However, extremes of maternal age groups and both young and old cohorts were associated with a higher risk of preterm birth, perinatal mortality, and congenital defect.

Allium vegetables attract attention for their flavor and aroma in Asia, especially in China and Japan. The aim of this experiment was to uncover the differences in the unique flavor compounds of two Welsh onions that are typical cultivars in China and Japan (‘Zhangqiu’ and ‘Tenko’). Chemical methods and solid-phase microextraction–gas chromatography-mass spectrometry were performed to determine the nutritional quality and quantity of volatile compounds of various organs of Welsh onions. The results show that a total of 30, 37, and 28 compounds were detected in the roots, pseudostem, and leaves of ‘Zhangqiu’, respectively, while 21, 27, and 20 compounds were detected in the corresponding organs of ‘Tenko’. The distribution of sulfur compounds in the roots, pseudostem, and leaves of ‘Zhangqiu’ accounted for 72%, 83%, and 26% of the total content, while those of ‘Tenko’ accounted for 55%, 84%, and 57%, respectively. Aldehydes are the second largest class of volatiles in Welsh onions. The distribution of aldehydes in the leaves was notably different: 52% and 27% in ‘Zhangqiu’ and ‘Tenko’, respectively. The contribution of S to the volatile substances was outstanding, and through forward selection, it was found that P, Ca, and Mg contribute to the volatile substances of Welsh onions. The above results indicate that the different genotypes of Welsh onions have various flavors, and mineral elements contribute variously to these flavors. Calcium could be a new topic of interest for our subsequent research on elements and volatiles.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), gradually increasing in China, is a chronic and recurrent intestinal inflammatory disease. Recently, probiotics have been applied for the treatment of IBD, and some probiotic strains can alleviate or treat IBD by protection of the intestinal barrier and regulating expression of immune and inflammatory factors. Meanwhile, probiotics have the characteristics of good tolerability and few adverse reactions, resulting in their commonness in the clinical application of IBD treatment. This article mainly introduces the research progress of probiotics in the treatment of IBD, including the classification, mechanism of action and clinical research.

Fabrication of metasurfaces with nanoscale structures is inefficient for large areas. Here, the authors introduce patterned pulse laser lithography for creating structured arrays with sub-wavelength feature on large-area thin films under ambient conditions.

The structural, elastic, piezoelectric, and electronic properties of K1−xMxNbO3 (M = Li, Na) were investigated by first-principles calculations. The results show that the modifications have effects on the elastic properties of KNbO3 and strengthen the anisotropy. Na and Li doping can slightly improve the piezoelectric stress tensor (e33) and piezoelectric strain tensor (d33) of KNbO3. With the increase in the x value from 0 to 0.5 in K1−xMxNbO3, the d33 value is improved from 24.4 to 36.3 pC/N (M = Na) and 41.5 pC/N (M = Li), and the piezoelectric property is improved by 1.49 and 1.70 times with the modifications of Na and Li, respectively. This conclusion is consistent with the result of Born effective charge and band structure results. The Born effective charge average values (Z*̄) for K and Nb atoms in K0.5M0.5NbO3 (M = Li, Na) are slightly increased compared to those in KNbO3. KNbO3 has an indirect bandgap, while Na and Li doping makes K0.5Na0.5NbO3 or K0.5Li0.5NbO3 a direct bandgap semiconductor. This study may provide a theoretical insight into Na and Li modified KNbO3 for their piezoelectricity.

This paper proposes a self-learning Monte Carlo tree search algorithm (SL-MCTS), which has the ability to continuously improve its problem-solving ability in single-player scenarios. SL-MCTS combines the MCTS algorithm with a two-branch neural network (PV-Network). The MCTS architecture can balance the search for exploration and exploitation. PV-Network replaces the rollout process of MCTS and predicts the promising search direction and the value of nodes, which increases the MCTS convergence speed and search efficiency. The paper proposes an effective method to assess the trajectory of the current model during the self-learning process by comparing the performance of the current model with that of its best-performing historical model. Additionally, this method can encourage SL-MCTS to generate optimal solutions during the self-learning process. We evaluate the performance of SL-MCTS on the robot path planning scenario. The experimental results show that the performance of SL-MCTS is far superior to the traditional MCTS and single-player MCTS algorithms in terms of path quality and time consumption, especially its time consumption is half less than that of the traditional MCTS algorithms. SL-MCTS also performs comparably to other iterative-based search algorithms designed specifically for path planning tasks.
