Herbal plants are the most valuable resources to prevent from many illness and to treat the many disorders in humans. Cissus quadrangularis is a one of the traditional medicine and belonging to vitaceae family. In Ayurvedha medicinal system this plant is used to treat many diseases like diabetes, snake bites, rheumatic pain, cardiovascular diseases. Cissus quadrangularis used as anticancer properties against MG63 human osteocarcinoma cells. Stem of the Cissus quadrangularis is an edible vegetable and the plant commonly called as ‘bone setter’. Our present study was analyzed the primary phyto constituents present the different solvents of Cissus quadrangularis and antioxidant activity. Three different extracts aqueous, methanol and ethanol were used to find out the phytoconstituents and antioxidant properties. The results were reveals that the plant Cissus quadrangularis consists of numerous primary and secondary phytoconstituents. Flavonoids and tannins were found to be higher in ethanol extracts, legnings, saponins was high in methanol extracts. Antioxidant study also reveals ethanol extracts shows more antioxidant activity than other two solvents.

Sample adaptive offset (SAO) adapted in high efficiency video coding (HEVC) standard is an in-loop filtering technique to reduce mean sample distortion occurring due to artifacts introduced by using larger transforms. The SAO involves classifying each sample into edge and band, calculates and adds appropriate offset values to the samples. In VLSI implementation of SAO, band offset (BO) calculation consumes a comparatively larger area and gate count. Some previously proposed algorithm for reducing the total bands from 32 to lower number of bands to reduce BO area compromises the proper prediction and selection efficiency of the four consecutive band group for which offset is needed to be calculated and signaled. This paper proposes a preselection technique using which from the total number of 32 bands, only 16 bands contributing majority samples in given coding tree unit (CTU) are selected and passed on for further processing. The usage of 16 bands provides sufficient space for making better prediction and selection of the required four consecutive band group along with optimum reduction in the consumed area.

This paper presents the models that are developed for estimating Daily Global Solar Radiation (DGSR) for different cities in Tamil Nadu. The paper assesses the accuracy of Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and empirical radiation models with a combination of different input parameters. This paper is concentrated on the estimation of DGSR for different cities in the Republic of India with vital input parameters which are identified using the software package, Waikato Environment for Knowledge Analysis (WEKA). The prediction of annual GSR varies from 17 to 22 MJ/m2/day.

The potential of quad polarization radar data for the target discrimination has been analyzed. Quad polarization data of the RADARSAT-2 fine resolution mode has been utilized. Class separability analysis has been carried out on different polarization combinations using Transformed Divergence (TD) method and it is observed that HH-HV/VH-VV polarization combination gives better class separability when compared to other polarization combinations. Classification has been carried out on the optimized polarization combination using Maximum likelihood (MLC) and Support Vector Machine (SVM) classifiers. It is observed that SVM classification gives better classification accuracy compared to MLC. Overall classification accuracy is 93.03% for SVM and 88.78% for MLC. Class separability and classification accuracy comparison results are presented.

Presentation of cases arising from many years of homeopathic experience. The repertorisation was not in detail. The cases are in accordance with the everyday routine in a big homeopathic consulting office.

Presentation of 11 cases out of 50 years of experience with homoeopathic practice in India. Mostly one single remedy was successfully prescribed. There was no thorough repertorisation, yet singular and peculiar rubrics lead to the selection of the remedies.

Der Autor wehrt sich damit gegen die neue Mode unter Homoopathen, sich dem Verlangen nach „Evidenz-basierter Homoopathie“ zu beugen, um nicht auserhalb der Wissenschaftsgemeinde zu stehen. Des Weiteren wird von einer interessanten Beobachtung berichtet, die Hahnemanns Gesetz von der Richtung der Heilung in umgekehrter Reihenfolge des Auftretens stutzt.

In this paper, we present Low jitter hybrid Phase Locked Loop (PLL). PLL are widely used in digital communication receivers because they generate a necessary clock signal, the PLLs used in communication receivers require to generate a low-jitter clock with fast frequency and phase lock. Our hybrid PLL (HPLL) architecture consists of a LC-PLL followed by a Ring-PLL. The HPLL achieves improved jitter performance with a wide frequency range. The Ring PLL noise performance is improved using an LCPLL as a reference clock generator.

It is said that a drop of blood can save one's life. There are some diseases such as Anemia that are more dreaded, especially in pregnant women and children. Diagnosis of these diseases requires regular blood tests. The diagnosis requires sophisticated equipment with trained technician. In developed world this does not pose a problem, but in developing world this is a problem. In many rural settings, this facility is just not available. This non-availability poses serious health hazards. So there is a need for simpler and effective method to diagnose these diseases. It is found that color of blood can give an indication to the severity of these diseases. In our approach, we suggest non-invasive diagnosis of Anemia.

Treatment of cardiac failure because of aortic stenosis with Q-potencies of different remedies. A significant amelioration of the patient can be confirmed by medical diagnostics. This kind of reported cure is the best proof for the efficiency of homoeopathy.

The successful homoeopathic treatment of a Coarctatio aortae is reported. Main remedy was Aurum metallicum.

Arachin, the major protein from groundnut, was isolated from three varieties of groundnut (Spanish Improved, TMV-2 and DH-3-30) using a modified procedure involving precipitation with 18% ammonium sulphate to obtain homogeneous protein. The homogeneity was judged by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, gel filtration and sedimentation velocity techniques as well as correlation with amino acid composition. Rates of hydrolysis of arachins by trypsin (pH 7.6) and alpha-chymotrypsin (pH 7.8) were significantly different between the three varieties. Arachin from the Spanish Improved variety contained higher amounts of alanine and phenylalanine and lower amounts of carbohydrate and phosphorus as compared to TMV-2 and DH-3-30. Sodium dodecyl sulphate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis pattern of arachin from TMV-2 showed only seven bands of which the ones with low molecular weight were more intense than those of the other two varieties. The far-ultraviolet circular dichroic spectra showed no significant differences among the three varieties in respect of alpha-helix content (5 +/- 2%), beta-structure (19 +/- 2%) and the aperiodic structure. The observed differences in hydrolysis rates have been explained as due to the differences in the acidic and basic subunits of arachins.

Myositis ossificans progressiva is a rare, incurable disease causing progressive ossification of skeletal muscles leading to total immobility. We report one such case.

Hexane extracted groundnut flour was re-extracted with absolute ethanol, 95% isopropanol, hexane:ethanol and hexane:isopropanol azeotropes for different time intervals. Sensory evaluation studies indicated that 6 h extraction with ethanol or isopropanol and 24 h extraction with hexane; ethanol azeotrope removed nearly 80–90% of nutty flavor. Some significant changes were observed in water absorption capacity, emulsification capacity and foaming properties of secondary solvent extracted meals. No significant changes were observed in fat absorption capacity, protein solubility and amino acid composition of secondary extracted samples. Gel electrophoresis did not reveal any marked changes in the protein composition of the reextracted meals.

A balloon-borne 750 mm Cassegrain telescope has been developed for far-infrared (FIR) astronomical observations. This telescope uses a three-axis stabilised balloon platform with approximately 30 sec of arc (RMS) pointing accuracy. Design and overall properties of this telescope system are presented. Some of the special features of the payload are highlighted, viz., cheap and lightweight mirrors made in epoxy resin; the in-flight relative phase adjustment facility between the detector signal processing system and the secondary mirror chopper. This telescope was flown at an altitude of 32 km on December 10, 1980 for conducting far-infrared observations. The telescope flight details and performance are presented and compared with the design goals. To illustrate the scanning capability of the telescope, a map of Orion-A obtained using it is presented.

1. Marchantia palmata which grows commonly at Ootacamund on the Nilgiris forms plenty of androgynous receptacles. 2. These receptacles start as purely female receptacles, but soon one or more proliferations bearing antheridia grow out from its under surface. 3. These proliferations are merely the archegonia-bearing lobes of the female receptacle which become active again and continue to grow further into narrow elongated outgrowths. 4. The proliferations produce at first sexual structures which are intermediate between an archegonium and an antheridium and later on typical antheridia. A consideration of these intermediate structures suggests that antheridia and archegonia are homologous structures. 5. A fungus forming pycnidia is generally present in the liverwort. It could not be dicided whether the change of sex in the receptacle is due to this fungal attack.

Approximate analyses of mushroom protein ( Pleurotus sp.) revealed that it contains 2.78% protein and 0.14% nonprotein nitrogen on a fresh-weight basis. A total of 17 amino acids, including all the essential amino acids, were qualitatively identified. Quantitative estimation of essential amino acids showed that, except for methionine and phenylalanine, all are in fairly high concentration. From these studies, it was concluded that the supplementation of this mushroom with cereal diet would help to overcome lysine deficiency.

SUMMARY: A complete quantitative amino acid analysis of the free amino acid fraction and the mycelial residue fraction of the mould Aspergillus flavus during different stages of growth has been made by the circular paper chromatographic technique. A qualitative analysis of the amino acid composition of the culture fluid has also been accomplished. The changes of the individual amino acids present in the various fractions on different days of incubation were studied and their implications discussed.

DURING our investigations on the synthesis of oligosaccharides from simple sugars by various mould extracts it was found that the mycelial extract of Aspergillus flavus was capable of synthesizing oligosaccharides from cellobiose. The dialysed extracts of the mould converted cellobiose into glucose and four other saccharides, three of which occupy positions below cellobiose and one between cellobiose and glucose on the paper chromatogram. Similar observations were reported recently by Crook and Stone1 by the action of Aspergillus niger on cellobiose. The substances were not identified. Barker et al. 2 have recently reported the synthesis by Aspergillus niger (strain 152) of some oligosaccharides which were identified as β-linked glucosaccharides. In view of the importance of this reaction in carbohydrate metabolism and in the mechanism of the synthesis of oligosaccharides, we report in this communication the results obtained on the identification of the substances formed from cellobiose.
