Bei Hydrierungen der Oxotetrahydrochromene (I) an Pd/C (auch an Raney-Ni oder Rh/C) bei 100°C entstehen die Oxohexahydrothiochromene (II).

We have observed for the first time that oxo-l,5-diketones that contain methoxy groups in the phenyl substituents, viz., 2-{3-[l-(p-methoxyphenyl)-3-phenylpropan-l-onyl]}(II) and 2-{3-[l,3-di(p-methoxyphenyl)propan-l-onyl]}cyclohexane-l,3-dione (III), are converted to the corresponding 5-oxo-5,6,7,8-tetrahydrothiochromylium salts (V, VI), with mp 148-150 and I16-I19~ in 37 and 38% yields on treatment with H~S/HCIO~ in a mixture of glacial acetic acid with acetic anhydride (8:2).

Die Triketone (II) werden katalytisch, entweder mit Raney-Ni in EtOH, NaOH/HzO oder mit Rh/C in Hexan zu den Hexahydfochmmefwnen (I),den Perhydrochromanen (III), bzw. zum Alkohol (IV) hydriert.
