- Abstract
Body mass index (BMI) is commonly used as a determinant of healthy weight, with high values being suggestive of obesity – a highly prevalent public health problem. Identifying the underlying psychological factors of high BMI is critical for preventing and treating obesity. The present study addresses this issue by exploring the relationships BMI has with problem-solving skills, mood symptoms (depression and anxiety), and mindful eating. A demographic information form, the Mindful Eating Questionnaire-30, the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, and the Problem Solving Inventory were used to collect data from 619 study participants aged 18–65 years. First, the participants were divided into two groups based on their BMIs as those who are considered obese and those who are not. The data from the two groups were compared to identify any differences in their anxiety, depression, problem-solving skills, and mindful eating scores. In the next stage, their problem-solving skills, depression, anxiety, and sub-dimensions of mindful eating were tested with regard to being able to predict their BMI. The results revealed that the non-obese individuals scored higher in the sub-dimensions of mindful eating, emotional eating, eating control, conscious eating, and interference and lower in the sub-dimension of awareness compared to the obese individuals. In addition, the non-obese individuals showed fewer symptoms of depression and anxiety and had better problem-solving skills compared to the obese group. The hierarchical regression analysis showed that age, education level, problem-solving skills, depressive symptoms, and the sub-dimensions of mindful eating predict BMI. Moreover, the sub-dimensions of mindful eating were found to positively predict BMI, even when controlling for age, education, and depressive symptoms. The present study has thus identified the detrimental role that depressive symptoms, insufficient problem-solving skills, and problematic eating behaviors have regarding increased BMI. As a result, taking these factors into consideration is thought to be able to benefit prevention and treatment studies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Most of the medicines are used for repress the symptoms. In this study; we will have checked the alterations with a physical examination after the different treatment methods which applied to patients. Method: In this study; we included 60 subjects diagnosed with SSA. Inclusion criteria; over the 50-y, cervical region pain and limitation of cervical joint movement for more than 3 months, degenerative changing radiological screens. - Abstract
In present study, it was aimed to researchthe correlation of the results of two different twist measurement techniques, such as twist-untwist and optical systems, for dual core yarns (Polyester andElastane cores- cotton wrapping fibres). Dual-core yarns can be produced on themodified ring spinning machine in two different ways (pre-treated dual-core anddual-core yarn). Also 100% cotton ring counterparts of dual core yarns wereproduced for three different yarn counts. In the study, the twist values of theyarn samples were measured and then the results were evaluated by correlationanalysis. According to the correlation analysis between the twist results ofboth measurement techniques, the highest correlation in the positive way wasobserved from the ring yarn samples whereas lowest correlation was observedfrom the dual-core yarns.

WALKING ,DIZZINESS ,HEALTH of adults ,OTOLARYNGOLOGISTS ,PERIODIC health examinations - Abstract
Background/Aim: Patient comfort is greatly affected during videonystagmography (VNG), and more comfortable tests are needed for diagnosis. This study aims to evaluate the modified tandem walking test (MTWT) as an alternative pre-assessment method to the VNG test. Methods: A total of 3348 patients were recruited in this retrospective cohort study between 2015-2019 based on the inclusion criteria of having chronic dizziness (>3 months), being aged between 18-65 years, and having an interpretable VNG test result. All patients were examined by an otolaryngologist, and the examination phase consisted of three parts: Physical examination, VNG test, and performing MTWT. The sensitivity, specificity, and likelihood ratio of the MTWT were calculated with the relevant formulas. Results: The female/male ratio was 2.19, and there was no significant difference between the groups in terms of age (P=0.334). The number of patients who were VNG positive (regardless of MTWT), both VNG and MTWT positive, both VNG and MTWT negative, and VNG negative (regardless of MTWT) were 2519, 2000, 699, and 2519, respectively. The sensitivity and specificity of MTWT were 79.37%, and 84.31%, respectively. Conclusion: MTWT has good sensitivity and specificity, and we think that it can be a safe, simple, and accessible pre-diagnostic tool when VNG is not available or cannot be tolerated by the patients. Objectives: This study aims to investigate the reliability of clinical diagnostic modalities of the patients with dizziness and the effectiveness of the vestibular rehabilitation therapy. Patients and Methods: We examined the patients who were admitted to our hospital between February 2013 and June 2014 with complaints of dizziness and examined in the audio-vestibular laboratory. In the audio-vestibular laboratory, patients went through the following examinations: spontaneous nystagmus and gaze nystagmus, skew deviation, head impulse test, head-shaking nystagmus test, dynamic visual acuity test, Dix-Hallpike maneuver, supine roll test, Tandem Romberg test and Modified Clinical Test of Sensory Interaction and Balance. The patients with symptoms of pathology in the central nervous system were excluded from the study. Vestibular rehabilitation therapy was used depending on the clinical diagnosis of the patients. The patients were evaluated one year later to investigate the vestibular rehabilitation treatment outcomes. Results: One hundred and four patients (35 males, 69 females) were found to be eligible for this study. Ninety-two (88.4%) out of 104 patients got a final clinical diagnosis. The most common diagnoses were unilateral vestibulopathy and posterior canal benign positional paroxysmal vertigo, respectively. Although 12 patients (11.6%) could not be diagnosed definitely, acute central pathologies were excluded in all of the patients. 75.96% out of 104 patients were relieved in 15 days, 94.23% in 30 days, 98.08% in 45 days, 99.04% in 60 days and it took 75 days for the rest of the patients. In the one year post-treatment interview, 83.2% of patients confirmed having benefits of the vestibular therapy and none of the patients experienced cerebral stroke. Conclusion: The combined set of diagnostic tests performed in the audio-vestibular laboratory is reliable and sufficient. Vestibular rehabilitation is very effective in relieving the symptoms of peripheral vestibular dysfunction and increasing the quality of life of the patients with dizziness. Keywords: Peripheral vertigo; vestibular rehabilitation; vestibulopathy; vestibular dysfunction., Amaç: Bu çalışmada baş dönmesi olan hastaların tanısında kullandığımız klinik tanı yöntemlerinin güvenilirliği ve vestibüler rehabilitasyon tedavisinin etkinliği araştırıldı.

- Abstract
Background: The transformation of Internet use into some disruptive patterns of behavior and cognitions results in Pathological Internet Use (Davis, 2002). For this reason, individuals' cognition about Internet use gains importance. Metacognition and personality are frequently used concepts to explain the nature of psychopathology. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of personality characteristics, metacognition and Internet usage functions on non-functional cognitions related to Internet usage in university students. Methods: 687 Turkish university students (521 girls, 164 boys and 2 other and aged mean 20.13) is participated. The Big Five Inventory (BFI: Benet-Martu0131u00b4nez & John, 1998), Metacognitions Questionnaire-30 (MCQ-30; Wells & Cartwright-Hatton, 2004), Internet Use Function Questionnaire (IUFQ; Ju, 2000), Online Cognition Scale (OCS; Davis, Flett & Besser, 2002) and a demographic form were used in this study.Findings: Regression analysis results showed that the non-functional cognitions related to Internet usage were significantly predicted by personality traits, metacognition and Internet usage functions. In addition, metacognition has a fully mediated role in the predictive effect of personality on non-functional cognitions related to Internet usage.Discussion: The non-functional cognitions related to Internet usage was found to be correlated with some personality dimensions (eg. Neuroticism) (Durak & u015eenol-Durak, 2014). In the present study, the relationship between personality and the non-functional cognitions related to Internet usage is mediated by metacognition. It is stated that the reason for this situation may be negative metacognitions which can not be controlled and contain dangerous thoughts with positive metacognitions including behaviors related to control of thought and emotion (Casale, Caplan & Fioravanti, 2016; Spada, Caselli, Nikcevic & Wells, 2015). It has been found that all dimensions of metacognition predicted Pathological Internet Use (Spada, Langston, Nikcevic & Moneta, 2008). The Internet usage functions (social, leisure and virtual) were important for the Pathological Internet Use (Bozou011flan, Demirer & u015eahin, 2014; Ceyhan, 2010).

- Abstract
The aim of this work is to determine the effect of draft ratio and twist level on core visibility ratios of dual-core yarns. For this aim, different types dual-core yarns containing PET/Elastane were produced under controlled conditions. To objectively evaluate the visual quality of the dual-core yarns, the frequency of the core filaments appearing on the yarn surfaces was counted on dyed knitted fabrics produced with these yarns by using image processing algorithm. The results showed that the draft ratio and the twist coefficient were the important factors influencing the core visibility ratios of dual-core yarns. It was found that the core covering performances of the pre-treated dual-core yarns produced with the lowest twist coefficient in the study were more incomplete than the others. Moreover, it was seen that the higher draft ratio on PET filament led to well wrapping of sheath staples to core filaments for dual-core yarns. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The purpose of the study is to inventigate the physical therapy effects on falling of the patients with unilateral vestibular hypofunction and to evaluate the effect of the treatment on the balance parameters. 30 people, who were diagnosed with unilateral vestibular hypofunction through videonystagmography, voluntarily participated in the study. Core-spun yarns containing Spandex have been widely used for the production of elastic textile materials. However, it has been encountered various problems not only during the usage but also during textile processes due to its high recovery property. In order to solve these problems, multicomponent core-spun yarns called as dual-core (DC) yarns, have been developed. DC yarns can be produced on the modified ring spinning machine in two different ways. In the first method, previously combined two core yarns are fed simultaneously, whereas in the second method, two core yarns are given separately into the centre of sheath fibre bundle. In present study, it was aimed to research the effect of these production methods on yarn features. Polyester and Spandex core components and cotton wrapping fibres were brought together in both two ways and the properties of multicomponent core-spun yarns were compared with cotton ring counterparts for three different yarn counts. ABSTRACTAN APPLICATION OF BALANCED ASSEMBLY LINE TO READIY – MADE CLOTHING COMPANIESAssembly lines are the production systems developed to meet the requirements of mankind that have been growing up day by day. The aims of these systems are producing products that have high production rates in the shortest time, with a most productive way, cheap and demanded quality. Since assembly line balancing is a hard optimization problem, some heuristic methods are still needed to solve the large scale assembly line balancing problems. In this study, first, general definitions of assembly lines were made. Following, the assembly line balancing was applied in a clothing company together with using t-shirt “Hoffman Technique”, “Kilbiridge Technique”, “Ranked Position Weight Technique”, “Simple Heuristic Technique”.The result we meet is that some assembly line balancing technique cannot be applied in a clothing company, even if applied, the loss of balance is supposed to increase, so that the efficiency will probably fall. While regarding the counted efficiency costs, the most appropriate line balancing technique was considered “Simple Heuristic Technique”. Moreover, “Simple Heuristic Technique” has been to be much more effective after getting encountered with sudden changes in a clothing company.

In this study using the fault plane solutions, the distribution and the mechanism of the earthquakes in according to stress tensor and moment tensor analysis were examined to rotation and characteristics of the stress and the slip rate deformations in Eastern Anaolian. The fault plane solutions include the magnitudes M3 earthquakes between 1939–2001. The Eastern Anatolia was separated to five regions along to fault zones. According to calculated the methods, the results explain the compression that is in north – south direction, the extension that is in east – west direction and thickening seismic crustal zone. While the compression tectonism has dominant in the region, the eastern Bitlis Suture Zone has the dominant extension tectonism. The result of the moment tensor analysis were represented the % 100 compression that is in north – south direction, approximate to % 90 rates equivalent the extension that is in east – west direction. In according to published goelogical, geophysical and GPS (Global Positioning System) researchs show the extension appeared on North Anatolian Fault and East Anatolian Fault (2 cm / year). In this situations show the increasing lateral extension in Eastern Anatolian and on the East Anatolian Fault. Considering both results of the analysis and GPS researchs westward motion of Anatolian along the North Anatolian Fault and East Anatolian Fault, crustal shortening in the Caucasus and increasing the lateral extension on the eastern Bitlis Suture Zone ensured by Iran Block., Yüksek Lisans, M.Sc.

The female steroid, 17β-estradiol (E2), is important for pancreatic β-cell function and acts via at least three estrogen receptors (ER), ERα, ERβ, and the G-protein coupled ER (GPER). Using a pancreas-specific ERα knockout mouse generated using the Cre-lox-P system and a Pdx1-Cre transgenic line (PERαKO−/−), we previously reported that islet ERα suppresses islet glucolipotoxicity and prevents β-cell dysfunction induced by high fat feeding. We also showed that E2 acts via ERα to prevent β-cell apoptosis in vivo. However, the contribution of the islet ERα to β-cell survival in vivo, without the contribution of ERα in other tissues is still unclear. Using the PERαKO−/− mouse, we show that ERα mRNA expression is only decreased by 20% in the arcuate nucleus of the hypothalamus, without a parallel decrease in the VMH, making it a reliable model of pancreas-specific ERα elimination. Following exposure to alloxan-induced oxidative stress in vivo, female and male PERαKO−/− mice exhibited a predisposition to β-cell destruction and insulin deficient diabetes. In male PERαKO−/− mice, exposure to E2 partially prevented alloxan-induced β-cell destruction and diabetes. ERα mRNA expression was induced by hyperglycemia in vivo in islets from young mice as well as in cultured rat islets. The induction of ERα mRNA by hyperglycemia was retained in insulin receptor-deficient β-cells, demonstrating independence from direct insulin regulation. These findings suggest that induction of ERα expression acts to naturally protect β-cells against oxidative injury.

- Abstract
Objectives: The aims of the study were to investigate the relationship between sarcopenia and renin-angiotensin system-related disorders and to explore the effects of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors and angiotensin II receptor blockers on muscle mass/function and physical performance., Design: This multicenter, cross-sectional study was performed using ISarcoPRM algorithm for the diagnosis of sarcopenia., Results: Of the 2613 participants (mean age = 61.0 ± 9.5 yrs), 1775 (67.9%) were hypertensive. All sarcopenia-related parameters (except chair stand test in males) were worse in hypertensive group than in normotensive group (all P < 0.05). When clinical/potential confounders were adjusted, hypertension was found to be an independent predictor of sarcopenia in males (odds ratio = 2.403 [95% confidence interval = 1.514-3.813]) and females (odds ratio = 1.906 [95% confidence interval = 1.328-2.734], both P < 0.001). After adjusting for confounding factors, we found that all sarcopenia-related parameters (except grip strength and chair stand test in males) were independently/negatively related to hypertension (all P < 0.05). In females, angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors users had higher grip strength and chair stand test performance values but had lower anterior thigh muscle thickness and gait speed values, as compared with those using angiotensin II receptor blockers (all P < 0.05)., Conclusions: Hypertension was associated with increased risk of sarcopenia at least 2 times. Among antihypertensives, while angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors had higher muscle function values, angiotensin II receptor blockers had higher muscle mass and physical performance values only in females., Competing Interests: Financial disclosure statements have been obtained, and no conflicts of interest have been reported by the authors or by any individuals in control of the content of this article., (Copyright © 2022 Wolters Kluwer Health, Inc. - Abstract
Background: In this study, the efficacy of an IL-6 antagonist, Tocilizumab, administered in the early period was studied in intensive care patients with COVID-19 pneumonia followed by hypoxic and systemic inflammation not receiving mechanical ventilation support., Methods: Patients with COVID-19 pneumonia who have signs of hypoxia and systemic inflammation and/or who have acute bilateral infiltrates on chest radiograph and who received tocilizumab treatment were compared with the patients who received standard medical therapy. Patients who were followed up with COVID-19 pneumonia and respiratory failure between March 2020 and March 2021 were retrospectively evaluated in the study. A 400 mg - 800 mg iv dose (depending on weight) of Tocilizumab was administered. The primary endpoint was determined as intensive care unit mortality., Results: A total of 213 patients who were admitted with respiratory failure associated with COVID-19 to our third-level intensive care unit were evaluated. Of these patients, the study was conducted with 50 patients in the tocilizumab treatment group and 92 patients in the standard treatment group. During the intensive care period, 26 patients (28.3%) in the standard treatment group and 12 patients (24%) in the group receiving tocilizumab died. The adjusted hazard ratio for mortality in the tocilizumab group was 0.39 (95% confidence interval [CI], 0.186 to 0.808; p = 0.001 by log-rank test). During the intensive care period, 22 patients (24.8%) in the standart treatment group and 16 patients (32%) in the tocilizumab group were intubated. The adjusted hazard ratio for a primary outcome intubation in the tocilizumab group was 0.71 (95% confidence interval [CI], 0.355 to 1.424; p = 0.184 by log-rank test).
