The article presents a study in the U.S. which examines the effects of mental age, knowledge of results, and social reinforcement on motor performance. The researchers were able to find significant effects and interactions on social reinforcement. It was found out that knowledge of the results was most effective in the presence of verbal praise. The authors suggested that verbal praise sensitized subjects to attend to the knowledge of results cue.
