A total of 92,730 lactations from 45,800 dairy cows evaluation from 2015 to 2019 were used for investigating lactose percentage (LP), milk yield (MY), lactose yield (LY), fat percentage (FP), proteins percentage (PP) and calving interval (CI). Data were analysed using the SAS version 9.4 and linear model with fixed effects: herd-years-season (HYS), sire (S), breeding type (BT), coding of milk (Cod-MY) and coding of calving interval (Cod-CI). In the dataset the average of LP was 4.77±0.20 %, while the one of MY, LY, FP, PP and CI were 6,778.53±2,014.18 kg, 325.27±100.45 kg, 3.96±0.47 %, 3.39±0.23 % and 406.66±91.09 days. The correlation of LP with MY, LY, FP, PP and CI was equal to r = 0.1712, r = 0.3157, r = 0.0546, r = 0.1852 and r = -0.0147. These correlation coefficients were statistically highly significant P

All cows was scored in the first parity just because 85% data were censored. The score of frame, feet and legs, muscularity and udder was between 68 and 93 points.The lowest risk of culling was found for muscularity (0.591) at the group scored between 84 and 93 points,for udder (0.879) and feet and legs (0.751) scored between 77 - 79 points and for frame (0.816) at the score 80 points. Rate of culled cows on first or second parity was 15 %. Within this group, diseases and fertility disorders (involuntary culling) represented 23 % culling cows. The study aimed to examine the analyses of the trend in the numbers of dairy cows, production and reproductive traits in the population the Slovak Spotted cattle for period 2010 to 2019. The number of Slovak Spotted dairy cows is maintained on a relatively stable level in recent years. There was a decrease in the number of animals (12 428 in 2010), but not as strong as after 1990 (85 518). From 2017 number of animals is rising from 14,062, to 14,150 (2018) and 14,627 (2019), respectively. As compared to 2010 an increase of 13.15% in 2017, 13.86% and 17.68%, in 2018 and 2019 respectively was observed. Population size raised from 113.15% (2017) to 117.68% in 2019 respectively. The average annual increase in milk production between the years 2010 to 2019 was + 157.5 kg of milk (total 1,575 kg of milk), + 5.8 kg of fat (total 58 kg of fat) and + 6.1 kg of protein (total 61 kg of protein). Positive growth of milk production in recent years is slightly comparable with the trend of breeding improvement.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the selected factors for weight at birth (BW), at age of 120 days (W120), at age of 210 days (W210) and at age of 365 days (W365) for calves in different breeding conditions of the Slovak Spotted cattle. We evaluated the influence of the breeder's factor, year of evaluation, month of evaluation, father's factor and breed type. The study aimed to examine the analyses a chosen group of the Slovak Spotted dairy cows. Within the group we focused on the problematic of utility pointers evaluation, we analysed the milk production of various breed types, years of birth giving, paternity of the descendants and the order of lactation. Moreover, we assessed the mutual correlation dependence between milk production pointers and weight of various factors on milk, fats, proteins and lactose production. The highest amount of produced milk in kg due to breed type measure was in S0 type. valuating the year of birth giving, the milk production was the highest between the years of 2010-2016 in a herd of dairy cows at farm reaching 8,341 kg of milk. Milk production pointers such as milk production in kg, fats in kg, proteins in kg and lactose in kg are in a mutual correlation relationship that is highly statistically resulted P ≤ 0.001.

The aim this study was evaluate the birth weight of calves of the Slovak spotted cattle in selected herds according to the year of birth, breeder, period of birth and breed type and to determine the linear relation between birth weight and birth year, month of birth, breed type, breeding conditions, calf father and period of calving. In our measurements, the average weight at birth of 284 evaluated measurements for the years 2012 to 2017 in the three breed type was 46.24 kg. The objective of this study was to analyse the level of pedigree and genomic inbreeding in a herd of the Norik of Muran horses. The pedigree file included 1374 animals (603 stallions and 771 mares), while the reference population consisted of animals that were genotyped by using 70k SNP platform (n = 25). The trend of pedigree inbreeding was expressed as the probability that an animal has two identical alleles by descent according to classical formulas. The trend of genomic inbreeding was derived from the distribution of runs of homozygosity (ROHs) with various length in the genome based on the assumption that these regions reflect the autozygosity originated from past generations of ancestors. A maximum of 19 generations was found in pedigree file. As expected, the highest level of pedigree completeness was found in first five generations. Subsequent quality control of genomic data resulted in totally 54432 SNP markers covering 2.242 Mb of the autosomal genome. The pedigree analysis showed that in current generation can be expected the pedigree inbreeding at level 0.23% (ΔFPEDi = 0.19 ± 1.17%). Comparable results was obtained also by the genomic analysis, when the inbreeding in current generation reached level 0.11%. Thus, in term of genetic diversity both analyses reflected sufficient level of variability across analysed population of Norik of Muran horses.

The aim of study was to analyse the reproduction and factors affecting on reproduction traits of dairy cows in population of Slovak Spotted cattle from 2007 to 2016 the results for 37,274 dairy cows: days to first service (DFS), days open (DO), number of inseminations per conception (NIC), age of first calving (AFC) and calving interval (CI). The basic statistical analysis were analysed using the SAS version 9.3. The linear model represents coefficients determination R2 = 0.452117% (P < 0.001) for DFS, R2 = 0.377715% (P < 0.001) for DO, R2 = 0.348442% (P < 0.001) for NIC and R2 = 0.317128% (P < 0.001) for CI with all fixed effects. Correlation coefficients among DFS with DO, NIC, AFC and CI were r = 0.37275, r = -0.06881, r = 0.06493 and r = 0.08348. These coefficients were highly statistically significant (P < 0.001).

The objective of this study was to estimate the distribution of autozygosity islands represented by homozygous segments (ROHs) in the genome of the Slovak Warmblood horse. The Slovak Warmblood is a very efficient breed with the excellent characteristics of a sport horse. The study included 37 animals that were genotyped by GGP Equine70k chip (71,947 SNPs). Only animals (36) and autosomal SNPs (62,439) with call rate >90% and minor allele frequency >1% were included in subsequent analyses. The homozygous segments were defined as stretches with minimum 15 consecutive homozygous SNPs of >500 kb with minimum density 1 SNP per 100 kb and maximum gap between markers of 1,000 kb. The heterozygous or missing calls were not accepted. The analysis indicated in total of 8,501 autozygosity islands in the genome of the Slovak Warmblood horse. The majority of identified segments (85.42%) were most likely derived from the remote ancestors in the past. Only 0.15% of detected segments resulted from the recent selection events affecting the genetic structure of studied population. The proportion of segments varied across chromosomes. The major fraction of autosome residing in ROH was found on ECA1 (8.30%), while ECA31 showed the lowest ROH coverage. The scan for overlapping homozygous segments shared by more than 50 % of animals demonstrated that the ECA6 autosome may be under strong selection pressure. Inside those selection signals, several genes were identified including them associated with immunity and reproduction.

The aim this work was to of relation between milk production and somatic cells count in Slovak Simmental dairy cows by different breeding conditions in the period 2010 to 2014. Data were analysed using the SAS version 9.3 (TS1M2) Enterprise Guide 5.1. and linear model with fixed effects of herd, years and months controls. The results of somatic cells count during the years 2010 and 2014 were as follows: the highest number of samples was analysed during 2014 (n = 49,974), where the average count was 163.50*103.ml-1. The lowest average value of somatic cells count was in 2010 in amount 178.90*103.ml-1 (n = 42,489). A total of 417030 calving difficulty records from 174795 dams were collected during the calving parity from 2001 to 2017. The impact of factors affecting the calving difficulty was analysed by using procGLM implemented in SAS 9.3 on the basis of multifactor analysis of variance. The effects of the herd, a year of calving, the sex of a calf, a breed type, a month of calving, the parity and the sire were tested. The sex of born calf was the most statistically significant factor (R2 =25,5 %). The aim of the study was to analyse the fatty acid profile of wild boar (Sus scrofa) meat. The samples were obtained from the mountain Tríbeč (southwest part of the Slovak Republic). A total of 36 samples in 3 age categories of meat were analysed. The effect of age on the intramuscular (IMF) fat content was analysed. The highest (P < 0.05) IMF content was found in the samples from the youngest animals (18.07%), the lowest (P < 0.05) in the sub-adult animals. Significant (P < 0.05) differences were found in palmitic acid (C16:0). Significant decrease of heptadecanoic acid (C17:0) as an effect of age was analysed in the samples. Of the important fatty acids, the most abundant in all age categories of wild boar were oleic (C18:1 cis 9), palmitic (C16:0), and linolelaidic acid (C18:2 cis n6). Differences in the content of mentioned acids were significant (P < 0.05). In α-linolenic and γ-linoleic acids, non-significant (P > 0.05) differences were detected. Significant differences (P < 0.05) between age categories were found in cis-11-eicosenoic (C20:1 n9) and cis-11,14-eicosadienoic acids (C20:2 n6). Significant differences (P < 0.05) were found in PUFA (polyunsaturated fatty acids), MUFA (monounsaturated fatty acids), and SFA (saturated fatty acids) concentrations. The highest PUFA content was typical for the samples from the oldest animals, MUFA from the sub-adults, and SFA from the youngest wild boar. More significant results were observed in the normalized data with the factor component scores. The wild boar fatty acid profile is significantly affected by age.

We observed subsequent results in dairy cows of 55 822 Slovak Simmental cattle. Data were analysed using the SAS and linear model with fixed effects of herd, years and months controls, sire, breeding type. The results of somatic cells count during the years 2009 and 2013 were as follows: the highest number of samples was analysed during 2010 (n = 288 215), where the average count was 560.48*10 3 · ml -1 . The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of selected polymorphism FTO rs1121980 on body mass index in humans. In the study participated 79 people from Slovakia with some genetic relatedness. We used column kit to isolate the genomic DNA from a buccal swab. Genotyping of single nucleotide polymorphism rs1121980 of FTO gene was performed by amplification-refractory mutation system (ARMS). The most common genotype was found in heterozygous form (CT=0.4051). The FTO gene had increased frequency of T allele (0.50635). The least frequent genotype in FTO was CC (0.2911). According to the results we can assume that the genotype CC (FTO rs1121980 ) has a protective effect on the prevalence of obesity compared to the other genotypes. With adding of the anthropometric measurements, blood test and extension of the group, we could in the future increase the statistical relevance in relation to obesity.

The objective of this study was to estimate the breeding values (BVs) of lactation persistency, the test day of milk yield, the somatic cell score, reproductive traits (calving interval, days open), longevity in Slovak Holstein dairy cattle. BVs were used for the detection of relationships among the persistency of lactation and other selected traits. Data for the estimation of BVs of milk production and somatic cell score were collected from 855 240 cows. BVs for reproductive traits were estimated for 352 712 cows and for longevity for 528 362 cows. The highest correlations were confirmed between the BV of persistency and the BV of test day milk yield at 100, 200, and 305 days (−0.88, −0.65, and −0.61). Correlations between the BV of lactation persistency and the BV of somatic cell score at day 305 or the BV of somatic cell score persistency were favorable: −0.05 and −0.12, respectively. The relationship between the BV of persistency and the BV of the calving interval or the BV of days open was 0.11 and 0.10 respectively. The selection for the persistency of lactation may not improve longevity because there is no relation between the BV of persistency and the BV of longevity (rg = 0.06).

The aim of this study was to estimate genetic parameters and breeding values (BVs) of show jumping horses in the Slovak Republic. The data from show jumping competitions performed in 2004-2013 (The Slovak Equestrian Federation) and data from the Breeding Information Register (The National Stud Farm in Topo’čianky) were used in our work. There were 831 horses (4-21 years old) included in the analysis. The level of competitions ranged from LS (125 cm) to TT (160 cm). Profit of penalty points (PP) and ranking in the competition (R) were analyzed as the measures describing horse performance. The average profit of PP was 5.90±6.28, and mean R was 20.20±16.88. The software package CFC 1.0 was used for computation of inbreeding coefficient (F) in given population. The ratio of inbred animals was 74.49% from 831 investigated animals. The average F value was 0.0068 within inbred population. Input data (profit of PP and R) were not normally distributed, therefore the transformation by Blom formula was made. The height of obstacles was taken into account. The ranking in competition has been nearest to the normal distribution even though the tests of normality have not confirmed it significantly. The heritability coefficient was 0.17 in PP and 0.10 in R. The BVs were estimated for PP and R (BVPP, BVR). The BVs for R were modified to the form of relative breeding values (RBVR). The increase of genetic level of R within population of show jumping horses has been observed in recent years.

November 2014 The aim of this paper was to evaluate the breeding population of Thoroughbreds in Slovakia by means of pedigree analysis. Examined population consisted of 123 mares and 10 stallions registered in Slovak Stud Book. Three stallions linked to Nasrullah line (30%) and 2 stallions linked to Northern Dancer (20%) and Native Dancer (20%) lines. Over a half of mares were represented by Northern Dancer line (50.41%). The 64 mares had Slovak rating mark, 21 mares had German GAG, 3 mares had Swiss GAG, 3 mares had Czech GAG and 1 mare had Austrian GAG. The 31 mares had no own performance results. The average Slovak rating was 61.51 kg. There were 10 animals (15.63%) with underaverage performance, 43 animals (67.18%) with average performance and 11 animals (17.19%) with above-average performance in population of mares with Slovak rating. The average inbreeding coefficient was 0.86% in whole reference population (133 individuals) and increase in inbreeding per generation was 0.17%, in stallions 0.25%. The number of founders in investigated population was 949. The effective number of founders was 202, while the effective number of ancestors was 67. These results point out unbalanced contributing of founders and ancestors into reference population as well as the bottleneck effect occurance. The Northern Dancer (CAN) was the most important ancestor in investigated population with individual contribution IC=7.88%. The aim of this study was to verify the newly proposed transformation of penalty points and ranking of showjumping horses for the purpose of genetic evaluation. Genomic information in the transformation of input data was used as well. Data of showjumping competition Global Champions Tour was used. Profit of penalty points was transformed to normally distributed variable using Blom formula (height of obstacles and height of obstacles with single nucleotide polymorphism - SNP effect taken into account). Non-normal distribution was obtained. The rankings of sport horses in competitions were transformed using the Blom formula (height of obstacles taken into account) to normal distribution (tests of normality Kolmogorov-Smirnov (KS) test Pr>D, D 0.011, P>0.150, Cramer-von Mises (CM) test Pr>W-Sq, W-Sq 0.039, P>0.250, Anderson-Darling test (AD) Pr>A-Sq, A-Sq 0.638, PD, D 0.004, P>0.150, CM test Pr>W-Sq, W-Sq 0.004, P>0.250, AD test Pr>A-Sq, A-Sq 0.062, P>0.250). Model where all used fixed effects to equation were applied without any combination of the effects was tested, R2 0.54. Variable ranking was transformed to normal score by Blom formula (height of obstacles was taken into account). In the following model some effects were taken into account in the form of quadratic regression, R2 0.61. Variable ranking was transformed to normal score, the same as in previous model. In the last model we transformed variable ranking to normal score by Blom formula, taking into account height of obstacles and SNP effect. Same effects as in previous model were used, R2 0.60

The aim of this study was to find out the influence of the genomic data on the showjumping horses performance evaluation for the purpose of genetic evaluation and subsequent estimation of breeding values of sport horses in Slovakia. For the evaluation of showjumping performance data of Global Champions Tour (season 2012) was used. The 4,729 individual competitions were recorded. The fourteen SNPs (single nucleotide polymorphisms) linked with showjumping performance were used for the simulation analyse. To explain the variability of horses ranking we used some different models. In the first model without SNP effect we are able to describe 53 % of performance (coefficient of determination R2 was 0.53). In linear model with some effects in form of quadratic regression we obtained R2 0.60. Highest R2 0.61 we obtained in the third model where one SNP effect was taken into account. Coefficient of determination R2 = 0.63 we obtained in the model where we used fourteen simulated SNP effects. It is possible to use simulated SNP data for evaluation of performance of showjumping horses. We observed increase of R2 in dependence on number of involved SNPs in the model. In case of fourteen simulated SNP effects used in the linear model, increase of R2 was 0.03 compared to the model without SNP effect.

The aim this work was to assessment of genetic diversity and analysis production and reproduction traits in difference breeding type of Slovak Simmental cattle in the period 2002 to 2012. In view of numbers of Slovak Simmental cattle is maintained during the development of a relatively stable representation in the population of cows bred in Slovakia. In the last period there was also a reduction in the number of Slovak Simmental breed, but not as strong as after 1990 (85,518), where in 2002 was 17,485. In years were 2010 (12,428), 2011 (12,307) and 2012 (12,573), as compared to 2002 was a decrease of 28.92 %, 29.61%, respectively 28.09 %, which remained only 71.08 %, 70.39 %, respectively 71.91 % of cows of Slovak Simmental cattle. The average annual increase in milk production in the years 2002 to 2012 kg is + 122.92 kg of milk, + 3.45 kg of fat and +4.56 of protein. Milk recording positive growth in recent years is partly comparable with the trend and breeding improvement.

Data were analysed using the Statistical Analysis System version 9.3.1 and linear model with fixed effects of herd-year-season of calving, genetic group, father, number of lactation and cod of milk production. Average of traits of milk production was 5266.4 kg of milk, 222.19 kg of fat, 177.79 kg of proteins and 251.37 kg of lactose. The linear model to represent coefficient determination R2 = 0.598099 for milk production with all fixed effects. The analysis by the effect was the highest effect of herd-years-season of calving (0.3724) than effect of father (0.3017). Correlation coefficients between milk, fat, protein, lactose in kgs (r=0.90826, r= 0.98260, r= 0.98830), were statistically high significant.
