The activity of aspartate aminotransferase and alanine aminotransferase and the content of soluble proteins were determined in mice irradiated with single dose of 100 R or injected with turpentine and in mice subjected to both these stress factors. The aim of this study was determination of changes in the activity of both these enzymes in the liver, kidney and spleen within 48 hours). It was found that the action of both these stress factors caused significant changes in the activity of AspAT and A1AT in the first phase of the response of the organism to stress and caused statistically significant changes of this activity on the second day of the experiment.

Effects of x-rays or aseptic inflammatory reaction on the circadian rhythm of tyrosine aminotransferase in mouse liver (TAT activity of mouse liver). Acta physiol. pol., 1979, 30 (4): 479--487. The circadian rhythm of tyrosine aminotransferase (TAT) was investigated during 48 hours in the liver of mice subjected to: -- subcutaneous inflammatory reaction -- ionizing radiation. The cyclic changes in the circadian enzyme activity were described with a harmonic function. In relation to the control mice in the experimental mice statistically significant changes were demonstrated in the activity of tyrosine aminotransferase associated with desynchronization of the circadian TAT rhythm, particularly evident in the first hours of the first day of the experiment. The functions of enzyme activity changed in the second 24-hour period showed, both qualitatively and quantitatively, a tendency for a gradual return of normal TAT activity in the 24-hour periods.

The effect of X-irradiation on the alanine- and aspartate aminotransferase activity in the liver, kidney and spleen of mouse. Acta Physiol. Pol. 1975, 26 (1): 95-101. The alanine- and aspartate aminotransferase (GOT and GPT) activities and the protein content were measured in the liver, kidney and spleen homogenates of mice exposed to a single whole body X-irradiation with a 900 r dose. The assays were performed in 6 h intervals during the first day and 24 h intervals from the 2nd until the 6th day after the exposure. Significant differences in the enzymatic activity were found in the course of 24 h in control animals and a marked increase of this activity was found after irradiation. This may be explained by changes in the permeability of the mitochondrial membrane for enzyme molecules.

The activity of tyrosine aminotransferase (TAT) in the liver of mice subjected simultaneously to ionizing radiation and to local inflammatory process showed in the first 24 hours of the experiment statistically significant changes resulting from summation of the harmful effects of both factors. In the second 24-hour period an evident tendency was observed for return of a normal circadian rhythm of the enzyme. This points to presence of an endogenous mechanism of suppression of the manifestations of significant desynchronization of the circadian rhythm. The paper contains also a trial of mathematical analysis of changes in TAT activity in the circadian rhythm, a description and analysis of the suppression process, qualitative and quantitative determination of the phenomenon of cumulation of the effects of powerful stress factors acting on the animal organism. The obtained results were compared with the results of investigations of TAT activity changes obtained in the case of separate application of the stress factors selected for this experiment.
