Purpose – The purpose of this study is to study the quantitative evaluation method of contact wire cracks by analyzing the changing law of eddy current signal characteristics under different cracks of contact wire of high-speed railway so as to provide a new way of thinking and method for the detection of contact wire injuries of high-speed railway. Design/methodology/approach – Based on the principle of eddy current detection and the specification parameters of high-speed railway contact wires in China, a finite element model for eddy current testing of contact wires was established to explore the variation patterns of crack signal characteristics in numerical simulation. A crack detection system based on eddy current detection was built, and eddy current detection voltage data was obtained for cracks of different depths and widths. By analyzing the variation law of eddy current signals, characteristic parameters were obtained and a quantitative evaluation model for crack width and depth was established based on the back propagation (BP) neural network. Findings – Numerical simulation and experimental detection of eddy current signal change rule is basically consistent, based on the law of the selected characteristics of the parameters in the BP neural network crack quantitative evaluation model also has a certain degree of effectiveness and reliability. BP neural network training results show that the classification accuracy for different widths and depths of the classification is 100 and 85.71%, respectively, and can be effectively realized on the high-speed railway contact line cracks of the quantitative evaluation classification. Originality/value – This study establishes a new type of high-speed railway contact wire crack detection and identification method, which provides a new technical means for high-speed railway contact wire injury detection. The study of eddy current characteristic law and quantitative evaluation model for different cracks in contact line has important academic value and practical significance, and it has certain guiding significance for the detection technology of contact line in high-speed railway.

Abstract The oncogene xCT plays an indispensable role in tumor growth by protecting cancer cells from oxidative stress and ferroptosis. Emerging evidence indicated xCT function is tightly controlled by posttranslational modifications, especially ubiquitination. However, it still remains unclear what specific regulatory mechanism of xCT by ubiquitin ligases in human cancers. Here, we reported that NEDD4L, an E3 ubiquitin ligases, inhibited esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC) tumor growth and facilitated ferroptosis by ubiquitination of xCT. NEDD4L expression was declined in ESCC and was associated with tumor invasion, lymph node metastasis and distant metastasis. Silencing NEDD4L triggered ESCC tumor growth. Meanwhile, knock down of NEDD4L prevented the accumulation of ROS, elevated the level of GSH, reduced the content of MDA in ESCC cells, thereby inhibiting ferroptosis. Mechanistically, NEDD4L directly bound to the ∆CT domain of xCT through its WW and HECT domain. More importantly, NEDD4L promoted xCT degradation by facilitating its polyubiquitination in ESCC cells. Collectively, these findings suggest that NEDD4L is crucial in governing the stability of xCT and mediating ferroptosis in ESCC.

With the rapid development of the nuclear industry，the amount of waste to be treated and monitored increases，and the potential emissions will also increase，and C-14 needs to be monitored. C-14 produced by nuclear facilities is mainly combined with CO2，so sensitive monitoring of 14CO2 gas is of great significance. In this paper，cavity ring-down spectroscopy (CRDS) is used to detect the CO2 absorption spectrum by selecting the center wave number of 14CO2 absorption line around 2209.11 cm−1. A CO2 detection system based on mid-infrared cavity ring-down spectroscopy is developed by using a quantum cascade laser in mid-infrared band，an optical resonator，and a reasonable optical path design and gas pipeline design. Based on the developed system，different concentrations of CO2 (0.5%-1.3%) were detected，and the experimental data were fitted and analyzed，and the results were found to be consistent with the theoretical formula，which confirmed the feasibility of the developed mid-infrared cavity ring-down spectrum system. The system has successfully realized the accurate measurement of different concentrations of CO2 gas in the mid-infrared band，the absorption spectrum of 14CO2 was measured by mid-infrared cavity ring-down technique， which provides an important technical support and foundation for the future study of laser spectral detection of 14CO2.

Soil respiration (Rs), a critical component of the global carbon (C) cycle, is sensitive to changes in nitrogen (N) deposition. However, the temporal dynamics of the effects of long-term (≥ five years) N addition and its cessation on Rs in forests remain uncertain. We conducted a continuous field experiment, which included three years of N cessation after seven years of N addition at different rates (0, 30, 60, and 90 kg N∙ha−1∙yr−1), in a subtropical Moso bamboo forest to explore the response of Rs and its components, determine the influence of biotic and abiotic factors to long-term N addition, and identify any legacy effects. We found a two-phase pattern of Rs, with a significant increase in the first two years across three N addition rates and a constant significant increase in the last five years across low and medium N addition; however, Rs did not change under high N addition. The nitrogen addition legacy effects significantly increased Rs and autotrophic respiration but reduced heterotrophic respiration, which could persist for at least three years. The mechanism underlying the temporal variation in Rs and its components was related to the increase in fine root biomass and changes in soil microbial biomass and bacteria to fungi ratio. These findings have advanced our understanding of soil CO2 dynamics in subtropical forests under N deposition. Moreover, they reveal that the legacy effects of long-term N addition should be incorporated into global C cycle modeling to reflect the persistent effects of N deposition on forest ecosystem C budgets.

Background: Auricular keloids are a significant clinical challenge, which adversely affect the life of the patient at the level of aesthetic and psychological well-being. Despite various treatment modalities, a universally effective therapy has yet to be established. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) offers a promising approach by inhibiting the abnormal proliferation of fibroblasts while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy cells and tissues. This study evaluates the clinical outcomes of auricular keloid patients treated with excision followed by 5-aminolevulinic acid photodynamic therapy (ALA-PDT). Methods: This study included 8 patients diagnosed with auricular keloids based on pathological examination and clinical presentation. Following surgical excision of the auricular keloids, topical 5-ALA solution was applied for 4 h. Then each lesion was irradiated with 120 J/cm² using a red LED (635-nm laser) for 20 min. Patients received 3–5 courses of 5-aminolevulinic acid photodynamic therapy (ALA-PDT) during and after the surgery. Results: Among the 8 patients treated, auricular keloids were completely controlled with the combination therapy. During a follow-up period of 2.7 years (range: 1.8–4.1 years), all patients exhibited excellent outcomes with no recurrence of keloids. Conclusions: The combination of surgical excision and 5-aminolevulinic acid photodynamic therapy (ALA-PDT) is an effective and safe treatment for auricular keloids. This combined approach shows promise as an alternative clinical treatment for managing auricular keloids.

Abstract The potential of adverse events (AEs) after thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) in patients with type B aortic dissection (TBAD) has been reported. To avoid the occurrence of AEs, it is important to recognize high-risk population for prevention in advance. The data of 261 patients with TBAD who received TEVAR between June 2017 and June 2021 at our medical center were retrospectively reviewed. After the implementation of exclusion criteria, 172 patients were finally included, and after 2.8 years (range from 1 day to 5.8 years) of follow up, they were divided into AEs (n = 41) and non-AEs (n = 131) groups. We identified the predictors of AEs, and a prediction model was constructed to calculate the specific risk of postoperative AEs at 1, 2, and 3 years, and to stratify patients into high-risk (n = 78) and low-risk (n = 94) group. The prediction model included seven predictors: Age > 75 years, Lower extremity malperfusion (LEM), NT-proBNP > 330 pg/ml, None distal tear, the ratio between the diameter of the ascending aorta and descending aorta (A/D ratio) > 1.2, the ratio of the area of the false lumen to the total aorta (FL ratio) > 64%, and acute TEVAR, which exhibited excellent predictive accuracy performance and discriminatory ability with C statistic of 82.3% (95% CI 77.3–89.2%). The prediction model was contributed to identify high-risk patients of postoperative AEs, which may serve to achievement of personalized treatment and follow-up plans for patients.

A low frequency wavefront aberration correction method for solar telescopes based on secondary mirror movement is proposed to correct dynamic wavefront aberration during the operation of solar telescope. The correction ability of this method is analyzed and validated by numerical simulation and experiments. Theoretical analysis and numerical simulation both indicate the system processes significant aberration correction ability given the correction frequency of the secondary mirror movement is 10 times higher than aberration frequency. After spatiotemporal frequency division of actual wavefront data from solar telescope, the experiment result proves that the proposed correction method based on secondary mirror movement can effectively reduce the overall RMS of dynamic aberrations with high-frequency portion.

To satisfy the demands of high image quality and resolutions, telescope alignment is indispensable. In this paper, a wavefront sensorless method based on a modified stochastic parallel gradient descent algorithm (SPGD) called the adaptive moment estimation SPGD (Adam SPGD) algorithm is proposed. Simulations are carried out using a four-mirror telescope, whose aperture is 6 m and fields of view are Φ2°. Three misalignments are shown as examples. Positions of the secondary mirror and third mirror are employed to compensate aberrations. The results show that merit functions and energy distributions of corrected images match with the designed ones. The mean RMS of residual wavefront errors is smaller than λ/14 (λ = 0.5 μm), indicating that the misalignments are well compensated. The results verify the effectiveness of our method.

Key Clinical Message Filler injections into the upper eyelid may cause levator aponeurosis fibrosis and ptosis. This risk must be considered. When ptosis appears, treatment might be difficult. Understanding the upper eyelid anatomy and procedures is essential to prevent eyelid damage. Abstract Ptosis is a prevalent condition in cosmetic surgery that occurs due to malfunction of the levator palpebrae superioris or insufficient Müller muscle action. It is characterized by the upper eyelid edge appearing lower than usual when seen at eye level. Ptosis may be categorized into congenital and acquired forms. The primary cause of congenital ptosis is attributed to abnormalities of the levator palpebrae superioris muscle or the motor nerve innervation that controls it. The condition arises from atypical development and malfunction of the oculomotor system. Acquired ptosis may be classified into many categories including traumatic, neurogenic, myogenic, senile, mechanical, and fake ptosis. Currently, there is little documentation of ptosis resulting from the degeneration of the aponeurosis of the muscle in the upper eyelid. We received a case of ptosis caused by fibrosis of the levator palpebrae superioris aponeurotic membrane. We used the technique of levator palpebrae superioris great advancement. The levator palpebrae superioris—Müller muscle was folded to create a stable composite construction via the levator palpebrae superioris high progress.

To explore the effect of postharvest dehydration on grape berries and wine quality, we determined physicochemical properties, polyphenols, antioxidant activities, volatile compounds and sensory characteristics for wines brewed by ‘Marselan’ (Vitis vinifera L.) grapes with 0%, 10%, 15%, 20%, and 25% of water loss. The result showed that postharvest dehydration improved the alcohol content, residual sugar and titratable acidity of Marselan wine. Phenolic compounds and antioxidant activities in wines with a dehydration of 20% have significantly increased. Postharvest dehydration increased the contents of isobutanol, isoamyl alcohol, phenylethyl alcohol, ethyl acetate, isoamyl acetate and ethyl butyrate in Marselan wines, and enhanced the floral, fruity and sweet taste of wines. Marselan wine had the lowest acceptability score under the condition of severe dehydration (25% dehydration), which was related to the significant increase of tannins content. In summary, postharvest dehydration was beneficial in improving the quality of Marselan wine.

BackgroundBehcet's disease (BD) is a systematic vasculitis that affects vessels with various sizes, presenting as venous thrombosis and arterial pseudoaneurysms. The most severe manifestation in BD is ascending aortic pseudoaneurysm, which is associated with high risks of rupture and mortality.Case presentationWe present a case of ascending aortic pseudoaneurysm in a 50-year-old patient with BD. After preoperative evaluation, coil embolization was successfully performed to treat the pseudoaneurysm, resulting in a satisfactory outcome at the 1-year follow-up.ConclusionCoil embolization serves as an effective treatment option for ascending aortic pseudoaneurysm in BD when open surgical repair and stent graft placement are unsuitable.

Abstract Background Hypertension is a main contributing factor of cardiovascular diseases; deregulated circular RNAs are involved in the pathogenesis of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Herein, we evaluated the function and mechanism of circST6GAL1 in PAH process. Methods Human pulmonary artery smooth muscle cells (HPASMCs) were cultured in hypoxic environment for functional analysis. The cell counting kit‐8, 5‐ethynyl‐2′‐deoxyuridine, wound healing, and flow cytometry assays were used to investigate cell proliferation, migration, and apoptosis. qRT‐PCR and Western blotting analyses were used for level measurement of genes and proteins. The binding between miR‐509‐5p and circST6GAL1 or multiple C2 and transmembrane domain containing 2 (MCTP2) was analyzed by dual‐luciferase reporter, RNA immunoprecipitation, and pull‐down assays. The monocrotaline (MCT)‐induced PAH mouse models were established for in vivo assay. Results CircST6GAL1 was highly expressed in PAH patients and hypoxia‐induced HPASMCs. Functionally, circST6GAL1 deficiency reversed hypoxia‐induced proliferation and migration, as well as apoptosis arrest in HPASMCs. Mechanistically, circST6GAL1 directly targeted miR‐509‐5p, and MCTP2 was a target of miR‐509‐5p. Rescue assays showed that the regulatory effects of circST6GAL1 deficiency on hypoxia‐induced HPASMCs were abolished. Moreover, forced expression of miR‐509‐5p suppressed HPASMC proliferation and migration and induced cell apoptosis under hypoxia stimulation, while these effects were abolished by MCTP2 overexpression. Moreover, circST6GAL1 silencing improved MCT‐induced pulmonary vascular remodeling and PAH. Conclusion CircST6GAL1 deficiency reversed hypoxia‐induced proliferation and migration, as well as apoptosis arrest in HPASMCs, and alleviated pulmonary vascular remodeling in MCT‐induced PAH mouse models through the miR‐509‐5p/MCTP2 axis, indicating a potential therapeutic target for PAH.

Objective: The physiological process of wound healing is dynamic, continuous, and intricate. Nowadays, full-thickness burn wounds are treated by autologous skin transplantation. Unfortunately, when substantial burns develop, there are fewer donor sites accessible, making it difficult to satisfy the requirement for large-scale skin transplants and increasing the risk of patient mortality. This study investigated the possibility of using a newly created hypoimmunogenic epidermal cell sheet to heal skin wounds. Methods: Transfection with lentivirus was used to generate Keratinocytes (KCs) that overexpress Indoleamine 2,3-Dioxygenase (IDO). Western blotting and quantitative polymerase chain reaction were used to measure IDO levels. To evaluate the function of IDO+ keratinocytes, CCK-8 and Transwell assays were performed. In cell sheet induction media, KCs and Fibroblasts (FBs) were cultured to yield epidermal cell sheets. The full-thickness skin excisions of BALB/c mice were transplanted with epidermal cell sheets. To assess the tumorigenicity of IDO+ keratinocytes, BALB/c nude mouse xenograft models were also used. CD3 and CD31 immunofluorescence labeling of wound tissue on day 12 to identify T lymphocyte infiltration and capillary development. ELISA measurement of IL-1 and TNF-α concentrations. Results: IDO + keratinocytes dramatically enhanced the expression levels of IDO mRNA and protein, as well as the amount of kynurenine in the conditioned media of IDO+ keratinocytes, compared to the Control and NC groups. CD8+ T cell apoptosis was considerably greater in the IDO group than in the Control and NC groups. Nevertheless, the proliferation and migratory capabilities of IDO+ keratinocytes were not substantially different from those of the Control and NC groups. In vitro cultivation of the hypoimmunogenic epidermal cell sheet was effective. In vivo transplantation experiments demonstrated that IDO+ epidermal cell sheets can effectively promote wound healing without tumorigenicity, and IDO+ epidermal cell sheets may promote wound healing by decreasing the expression levels of inflammatory factors (TNF and IL-1) in wound tissue, decreasing CD3+ T lymphocytes, and increasing infiltration and new capillaries in wound tissue. Conclusion: In this study, we successfully constructed the hypoimmunogenic epidermal cell sheet and demonstrated that the hypoimmunogenic epidermal cell sheet could accelerate wound healing.

Purpose – High-speed maglev technology can address the issues of adhesion, friction, vibration and high-speed current collection in traditional wheel-rail systems, making it an important direction for the future development of high-speed rail technology. Design/methodology/approach – This paper elaborates on the demand and significance of developing high-speed maglev technology worldwide and examines the current status and technological maturity of several major high-speed maglev systems globally. Findings – This paper summarizes the challenges in the development of high-speed maglev railways in China. Based on this analysis, it puts forward considerations for future research on high-speed maglev railways. Originality/value – This paper describes the development status and technical maturity of several major high-speed maglev systems in the world for the first time, summarizes the existing problems in the development of China's high-speed maglev railway and on this basis, puts forward the thinking of the next research of China's high-speed maglev railway.

Abstract Background The Editorial Board of EJNMMI Radiopharmacy and Chemistry releases a biannual highlight commentary to update the readership on trends in the field of radiopharmaceutical development. Main body This selection of highlights provides commentary on 21 different topics selected by each coauthoring Editorial Board member addressing a variety of aspects ranging from novel radiochemistry to first-in-human application of novel radiopharmaceuticals. Conclusion Trends in radiochemistry and radiopharmacy are highlighted. Hot topics cover the entire scope of EJNMMI Radiopharmacy and Chemistry, demonstrating the progress in the research field in many aspects.

Utilizing deep learning for semantic segmentation of cropland from remote sensing imagery has become a crucial technique in land surveys. Cropland is highly heterogeneous and fragmented, and existing methods often suffer from inaccurate boundary segmentation. This paper introduces a UNet-like boundary-aware compensation model (BAFormer). Cropland boundaries typically exhibit rapid transformations in pixel values and texture features, often appearing as high-frequency features in remote sensing images. To enhance the recognition of these high-frequency features as represented by cropland boundaries, the proposed BAFormer integrates a Feature Adaptive Mixer (FAM) and develops a Depthwise Large Kernel Multi-Layer Perceptron model (DWLK-MLP) to enrich the global and local cropland boundaries features separately. Specifically, FAM enhances the boundary-aware method by adaptively acquiring high-frequency features through convolution and self-attention advantages, while DWLK-MLP further supplements boundary position information using a large receptive field. The efficacy of BAFormer has been evaluated on datasets including Vaihingen, Potsdam, LoveDA, and Mapcup. It demonstrates high performance, achieving mIoU scores of 84.5%, 87.3%, 53.5%, and 83.1% on these datasets, respectively. Notably, BAFormer-T (lightweight model) surpasses other lightweight models on the Vaihingen dataset with scores of 91.3% F1 and 84.1% mIoU.

Visible near-infrared spectroscopy (VNIR) is extensively researched for obtaining soil property information due to its rapid, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly advantages. Despite its widespread application and significant achievements in soil property analysis, current soil prediction models continue to suffer from low accuracy. To address this issue, we propose a convolutional neural network model that can achieve high-precision soil property prediction by creating 2D multi-channel inputs and applying a multi-scale spatial attention mechanism. Initially, we explored two-dimensional multi-channel inputs for seven soil properties in the public LUCAS spectral dataset using the Gramian Angular Field (GAF) method and various preprocessing techniques. Subsequently, we developed a convolutional neural network model with a multi-scale spatial attention mechanism to improve the network’s extraction of relevant spatial contextual information. Our proposed model showed superior performance in a statistical comparison with current state-of-the-art techniques. The RMSE (R²) values for various soil properties were as follows: organic carbon content (OC) of 19.083 (0.955), calcium carbonate content (CaCO3) of 24.901 (0.961), nitrogen content (N) of 0.969 (0.933), cation exchange capacity (CEC) of 6.52 (0.803), pH in H2O of 0.366 (0.927), clay content of 4.845 (0.86), and sand content of 12.069 (0.789). Our proposed model can effectively extract features from visible near-infrared spectroscopy data, contributing to the precise detection of soil properties.

Background: Keloids are aggressive fibroproliferative disorders that cause aesthetic and functional damage. Photodynamic therapy (PDT) has shown promise as a novel treatment for keloids. However, the limited penetration of 5-aminolevulinic acid (ALA) and unsatisfactory outcomes in dense scars hinder its effectiveness as a monotherapy. The objective of this study is to assess the efficacy and safety of fractional CO2 laser followed by 5-ALA PDT for keloids. Methods: A total of 12 patients with keloid were included in our study. Each lesion was pretreated by fractional CO2 laser with 26–28 W to create microthermal zones. After topical application of 5-ALA solution, an irradiation of 635 nm red light with 120 J/cm2 was performed. The treatment was repeated at least every 2 weeks. Efficacy and safety were evaluated using the Vancouver Scar Scale (VSS), the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) for keloid-related symptoms and documentation of postoperative complications. Statistical analysis was performed to compare VSS and keloid-related symptom VAS scores of the baseline and final treatment sessions. Results: The final treatment resulted in a statistically significant decrease in all parameters of VSS and VAS for pruritus and pain compared to the baseline. Except for postoperative hyperpigmentation, no infections, scar aggravation, or recurrence were observed during at least 6 months of follow-up. Overall, patients expressed a high level of satisfaction with the treatment outcome. Conclusions: Fractional CO2 laser followed by 5-ALA PDT is a promising method for treating keloids. However, its synergetic effects need to be validated through clinical trials involving larger patient cohorts.

Acne vulgaris is a common inflammatory skin disease associated with Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes), with serious physical and psychological effects on patients. Conventional topical use of antibiotics is not effective due to the skin barrier and oral administration can adversely affect the intestinal flora. Microneedle is a novel type of localized drug delivery system that noninvasively breaks through the stratum corneum barrier and effectively enhances the transdermal absorption of drugs. Here, Bletilla striata polysaccharide (BSP)/Hyaluronic acid (HA) loaded Epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) was used as the microneedle body to easily penetrate the epidermis and enhance antibacterial ability. Polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and Diatomaceous earth (DE) are used as the microneedle backing to absorb pus and bacterial debris, prevent re-infection of bacteria and promote skin healing. Compared to traditional antibiotics, the excellent skin permeability of EGCG@BSP/HA MNs studied here can improve the efficacy and solve side effects and drug resistance. In vivo studies in mice models induced by P. acnes showed that this microneedle could effectively reduce skin swelling, inhibit bacterial growth and reduce the levels of TNF-α, IL-8 and MMP-2. In summary, this study provides an ideal antimicrobial drug delivery system for the treatment of acne vulgaris.

Abstract Elevating the charging cut-off voltage is one of the efficient approaches to boost the energy density of Li-ion batteries (LIBs). However, this method is limited by the occurrence of severe parasitic reactions at the electrolyte/electrode interfaces. Herein, to address this issue, we design a non-flammable fluorinated sulfonate electrolyte by multifunctional solvent molecule design, which enables the formation of an inorganic-rich cathode electrolyte interphase (CEI) on high-voltage cathodes and a hybrid organic/inorganic solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) on the graphite anode. The electrolyte, consisting of 1.9 M LiFSI in a 1:2 v/v mixture of 2,2,2-trifluoroethyl trifluoromethanesulfonate and 2,2,2-trifluoroethyl methanesulfonate, endows 4.55 V-charged graphite||LiCoO2 and 4.6 V-charged graphite||NCM811 batteries with capacity retentions of 89% over 5329 cycles and 85% over 2002 cycles, respectively, thus resulting in energy density increases of 33% and 16% compared to those charged to 4.3 V. This work demonstrates a practical strategy for upgrading the commercial LIBs.

Fish Aggregating Devices (FADs) are essential supplementary structures used in tropical tuna purse-seine fishing. They are strategically placed to attract tuna species and enhance fishing productivity. The hydrodynamic performance of FADs has a direct effect on their structural and environmental safety in the harsh marine environment. Conventional FADs are composed of materials that do not break down naturally, leading to the accumulation of waste in the ocean and potential negative effects on marine ecosystems. Therefore, this work aimed to examine the hydrodynamic performance of biodegradable drifting FADs (Bio-DFADs) in oceanic currents by numerical modelling. The Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes equation was used to solve the flow field and discretized based on the realizable k-ε turbulence model, employing the finite volume method. A set of Bio-DFADs was developed to assess the hydrodynamic performance under varying current velocities and attack angles, as well as different balsa wood diameters and sinker weights. The results indicated that the relative current velocity significantly affected the relative velocity of Bio-DFADs. The relative length of the raft significantly affected both the relative velocity and the relative wetted area in a pure stream. Finally, the diameter of the balsa wood affected the drift velocity, and the sinker’s relative weight affected the hydrodynamic performance of the Bio-DFADs.

ObjectiveThe study aimed to assess the value of physiological tests for evaluating inner ear function in predicting the short-term recurrence of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV).Materials and methodsThe clinical information of all idiopathic BPPV patients who were treated in our clinic between February 2021 and December 2022 were reviewed. All patients included in the study had completed audiology examinations including pure tone audiometry, electrocochleography (EcochG), auditory brainstem response, and vestibular function examination such as the vestibular caloric test. The relationships between the results of the above tests and short-term recurrent BPPV were analyzed.ResultsA total of 96 patients with unilateral idiopathic BPPV were included for analysis. The numbers of non-recurrent patients and recurrent patients were 57 (59.4%) and 39 (40.6%), respectively. Only the results of EcochG and the caloric test showed significant differences between non-recurrent and recurrent patients (both P < 0.05). The results of these two tests were also found to be independently predictive of short-term recurrence (both P < 0.05). The non-recurrence rate for patients with normal results in both tests reached up to 78.3%, which was significantly higher than that for patients with abnormal results in both tests, 28.6% (P < 0.05).ConclusionEndolymphatic hydrops and canal paresis were independent risk factors for short-term recurrent BPPV. Additional treatments should be considered to reduce the recurrence rate, including dehydration treatment and vestibular rehabilitation.

Diet High in salt content have been associated with cardiovascular disease and chronic inflammation. We recently demonstrated that transient receptor potential canonical 3 (TRPC3) channels regulate myofibroblast transdifferentiation in hypertrophic scars. Here, we examined how high salt activation of TRPC3 participates in hypertrophic scarring during wound healing. In vitro, we confirmed that high salt increased the TRPC3 protein expression and the marker of myofibroblast alpha smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) in wild-type mice (WT) primary cultured dermal fibroblasts but not Trpc3−/− mice. Activation of TRPC3 by high salt elevated cytosolic Ca2+ influx and mitochondrial Ca2+ uptake in dermal fibroblasts in a TRPC3-dependent manner. High salt activation of TRPC3 enhanced mitochondrial respiratory dysfunction and excessive ROS production by inhibiting pyruvate dehydrogenase action, that activated ROS-triggered Ca2+ influx and the Rho kinase/MLC pathway in WT mice but not Trpc3−/− mice. In vivo, a persistent high-salt diet promoted myofibroblast transdifferentiation and collagen deposition in a TRPC3-dependent manner. Therefore, this study demonstrates that high salt enhances myofibroblast transdifferentiation and promotes hypertrophic scar formation through enhanced mitochondrial Ca2+ homeostasis, which activates the ROS-mediated pMLC/pMYPT1 pathway. TRPC3 deficiency antagonizes high salt diet-induced hypertrophic scarring. TRPC3 may be a novel target for hypertrophic scarring during wound healing.

Fish-aggregating devices play a significant role in tuna purse fisheries. The severe marine environment and the large number of non-biodegradable fish-aggregating devices impact structural safety and cause marine litter. Therefore, hydrodynamic performance and the use of biodegradable materials are crucial issues for ensuring the sustainability of fish-aggregating devices. In this study, a type of virtual biodegradable drifting fish-aggregating device (Bio-DFAD) was designed. Numerical simulations were conducted to investigate the motion responses and relative velocities of Bio-DFADs in regular waves (first- and fifth-order waves). The numerical model was applied based on unsteady Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes equations with the realizable k–ε model. For different scenarios of modeling, various conditions were modeled, including the relative length, wave steepness, and diameter of the balsa wood, to analyze their effects on the hydrodynamic response of the Bio-DFADs. The results indicated that the increased relative length, wave steepness, and diameter of balsa wood had a significant influence on the motion response amplitude operators (RAOs) and relative velocity of Bio-DFADs. The results suggested that a relative length (LF/B = 1.5) and smaller diameter (DF = 30 mm) were recommended for fewer motion responses and relative velocity. The obtained results provide insight for practical engineering applications of the hydrodynamic design of Bio-DFADs.

As two of the most important products of the combustion process, carbon dioxide (CO _2 ) and carbon monoxide (CO) are commonly used as tracers for combustion source assignment. Their relationship will help to better understand the regional carbon cycle and assess climate forcing effects. In this study, mixing ratios of CO _2 and CO were continuously measured using a Picarro gas concentration analyzer at the Atmospheric Boundary Layer Eco-Environmental Shanghuang Observatory, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ABLECAS) throughout 2022–2023. The variability of the mixing ratio of CO to CO _2 (ΔCO/ΔCO _2 ) in a 1 h time interval was calculated based on linear slope analysis after background values were determined and subtracted. The results showed that the mixing ratio of CO had a clear seasonal variability with a moderate increase in the spring (249.1 ± 59.6 part per billion (ppb)) and winter (257.8 ± 90.3 ppb), mostly due to more frequent transport from north of the Yangtze River. ΔCO/ΔCO _2 at the ABLECAS varied with air mass origin, with a linear slope 0%–1% on a 1 h basis. Relatively high ΔCO/ΔCO _2 values for an air mass from the north in the winter indicate that the emission sources had lower combustion efficiency. In summer, the ΔCO/ΔCO _2 ratio mostly reflected the background conditions for air masses from marine areas. The potential source regions and contribution assignments were evaluatedat the ABLECAS according to source–receptor relationship analysis using the FLEXPART model with CO as a pollutant tracer from 2015 to 2023. We found that the footprint of an air mass had a clear transition period between 2018 and 2019, and a synoptic anomaly, related to Arctic Oscillation strength and west Pacific subtropical high position, plays a key role in influencing the pollutant transport patterns. This study provides a scientific basis for the formulation of air quality regulation policy, and helps to implement the national carbon neutralization strategy.

The Closeby Habitable Exoplanet Survey (CHES) constitutes a mission intricately designed to systematically survey approximately 100 solar-type stars located within the immediate proximity of the solar system, specifically within a range of 10 pc. The core objective of this mission is the detection and characterization of potentially habitable Earth-like planets or super-Earths within the habitable zone of these stars. The CHES mission obtains high-precision astrometric measurements of planets orbiting the target stars by observing angular distance variations between the target star and reference stars. As a result, we surveyed the relevant parameters of both target and reference stars in detail, conducting a thorough analysis and calculation of the required observation accuracy, the number of observations, and the priority assigned to each target star. Observational emphasis will be concentrated on targets considered of higher priority, ensuring the effectiveness of their observation capabilities. Through this approach, we formulate a 5 yr observation strategy that will cover all the target stars within a 6 month time frame. The strategy not only fulfills the required observing capability but also exhibits high efficiency simultaneously, providing an executable program for future mission. Over the span of the mission’s 5 yr duration, a cumulative observation time of 29,220 hr will be available. Approximately 86% of this, totaling 25,120 hr, is allocated for the observation of target stars. This allocation leaves approximately 4100 hr for extended scientific observation programs. We have also performed simulated observations based on this strategy and verified its observational capability for exoplanets.

The predominant form of aquaculture is the facility fishery, which is also subject to significant impacts from marine disasters. Conducting research on the extraction of facility fishery areas based on remote sensing technology is crucial to efficiently comprehending the configuration of coastal culture patterns and to establishing scientifically sound plans for managing and administering these areas. The extensive dispersion of facility fishery areas in coastal regions poses a challenge to the conduction of comprehensive field surveys. The utilization of satellite remote sensing images for information extraction has emerged as a significant area of research in the fields of coastal fishery and ecological environment. This study provides a systematic description of the current research status of coastal fishery area extraction methods using remote sensing technology from 2000 to 2022 reported in the literature. The methods discussed include the visual interpretation method, image element-based classification, object-based classification, supervised classification, unsupervised classification, and neural network classification. The extraction accuracy of each method in the coastal facility fishery area is evaluated, and the advantages and disadvantages of these methods, as well as their limitations and existing problems, are analyzed in detail, to construct a reference framework for the investigation of the high-precision extraction of facility fishery areas from satellite remote sensing images.

Abstract Objective Hemorrhage is the most common complication caused by transoral laryngopharyngeal surgery. It is believed that proper management of the superior laryngeal artery (SLA), the main feeding artery for the larynx and pharynx, may reduce intra‐ and postoperative hemorrhage incidence. The aim of this study was to illustrate the anatomy of the SLA via transoral endoscopic approach. Methods Fourteen sides of SLA from heads of seven fresh‐frozen and silicone‐injected cadavers were dissected. Transoral dissections were performed for the intra‐laryngeal segment of SLA, and transcervical dissections were performed to confirm the anatomical measurements. Results SLA had a slightly descending course from the origin to the larynx, and there was a major branch supplying the epiglottis, named pharyngo‐epiglottic artery (PEA). Parallel with the internal superior laryngeal nerve (ISLN), SLA passed through the thyrohyoid membrane and ended into the hypopharynx. The distance from SLA to the superior horn of thyroid cartilage (SHTC) was (9.11 ± 0.58)mm on the left and (9.01 ± 0.37)mm on the right; the distance from SLA to the inferior margin of the hyoid bone (IMHB) was (2.00 ± 0.11)mm on the left and (1.95 ± 0.08)mm on the right; the distance from SLA to ISLN was (5.98 ± 0.48)mm on the left and (5.78 ± 0.36)mm on the right. No significant difference was found between bilateral sides (p > 0.05). Moreover, the distance from SLA to superior margin of thyroid cartilage (SMTC) was (5.52 ± 0.24)mm on the left and (5.80 ± 0.15)mm on the right. A significant difference was also found between bilateral sides (p = 0.03), which might suggest the SLA is located further from the SMTC on the right side. Conclusion SHTC, SMTC, and IMHB could be regarded as anatomical landmarks to locate SLA when applying a transoral approach. Moreover, a complete understanding of the detailed anatomy of the superior laryngeal artery may improve the detection of hemostasis in transoral laryngeal or hypo‐pharyngeal surgery.

In order to explore the nutritional value and active function of Akebia trifoliata pericarp, the main nutritional components contents of protein, fat, total sugar, reducing sugar, 8 mineral elements, total flavonoids, total phenols and total saponins were determined by using Kjeldahl method, acid hydrolysis, phenol sulfuric acid method, 3,5-dinitrosalicylic acid method, ICP-AES method, NaNO2-AlCl3 method, Folin-ciocalten and vanillin-perchloric acid. The antioxidant capacity of pericarp extracts was also evaluated. The results showed that the contents of protein (8.16%±0.11%), reducing sugar (19.31%±0.21%) and total sugar (32.61%±0.18%) in the peel of Akebia trifoliata were high, and the pectin content determined by gravimetric method was (20.08%±0.20%). Among the eight nutrient elements measured, K content was the richest (14061.17 μg/g DW), followed by Ca (4959.28 μg/g DW). The orders of the contents of eight mineral elements were K>Ca>Mg>Fe>Mn>Na>Cu>Zn. The contents of total flavonoids, polyphenolics and saponins were (20.58±0.12), (31.53±0.18) and (45.20±12.04) mg/g DW, respectively. The scavenging capabilities of extraction on the free radicals of DPPH and ABTS+ were also investigated. When the scavenging rate reached to 50%, the IC50 values on DPPH and ABTS+ free radicals scavenging were 0.049, 0.052 mg/mL, respectively. In order to derive sodium abundances and investigate the effects of non-local thermodynamic equilibrium (NLTE) on the formation of H-band Na I lines, we update the sodium atomic model by incorporating collision rates with hydrogen from new quantum-mechanical calculations. The differential Na abundances for 13 sample stars are obtained by analyzing high-resolution H-band spectra from the Apache Point Observatory Galactic Evolution Experiment (APOGEE) and optical spectra under both local thermodynamic equilibrium (LTE) and NLTE conditions. Consistent abundances from both bands suggest that our updated atomic model is valid for studying the formation of H-band Na I lines. Our calculations show that, in our stellar parameter space, NLTE effects are negative and can result in corrections larger than −0.4 dex on optical lines. The corrections on H-band Na I lines are typically small, within about 0.05 dex, but not negligible if accurate sodium abundance is desired. We note that the [Na/Fe] ratios favor the theoretical galactic chemical model.

In light of the ongoing depletion of global fishery resources, there has been a growing trend towards increasing the scope of stock enhancement activities. The objective of these efforts is to replenish the diminishing fishery resources and restore the ecological balance within marine biological communities. Nevertheless, the efficacy of the stock enhancement project has been hindered by the differential growth and environmental adaptability of released species, which can be attributed to the influence of abundant food resources. As a consequence, the project has not yielded the anticipated outcomes. One useful strategy for enhancing the efficacy of stock enhancement is the deliberate allocation of appropriate habitats for diverse released organisms. Fatty acids were extracted by the Folch method and the composition and content of muscle fatty acids were determined by gas chromatography mass spectrometry. This study examines the fatty acid composition of four commercially important species, namely, little yellow croaker (Larimichthys polyactis), red sea bream (Pagrus major), swimming crab (Portunus trituberculatus), and ridgetail white prawn (Exopalaemon carinicauda). The sum of available docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) is employed as an indicator to assess the appropriateness of the marine environment for releasing these species (DE). The red sea bream exhibited the lowest DE value of 13.69% in the northern coastal water of the Bohai Sea, and the little yellow croaker displayed the lowest DE value of 10.91% in the southern coastal water of the Shandong Peninsula. Conversely, the DE values of other seas were comparable, averaging 20.16%. The range of the DE value of the swimming crab across various coastal waters was observed to be between 33.59% and 45.21%. The ridgetail white prawn had a DE value of 21.10% in the coastal water of Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province, as well as the southern coastal water of the Shandong Peninsula, and a DE value of 31.75% in the southern and central coastal waters of Zhejiang Province. The findings of the study indicate that the Bohai Sea and the northern region of the Yellow Sea are the appropriate stock enhancement areas for red sea bream. Similarly, the Yellow Sea and the northern part of the East China Sea are identified as suitable habitats for the little yellow croaker. The swimming crab, on the other hand, is adapted to be released in the Yellow Sea, the Bohai Sea, and the East China Sea. The north of the central part of the East China Sea is an appropriate release area for the ridgetail white prawn.

This paper proposes a dynamic-decision-based real-time dispatch method to coordinate the economic objective with multiple types of security dispatch objectives while reducing constraint violations in the process of adjusting the system operation point to the optimum. In each decision moment, the following tasks are executed in turn: ① locally linearizing the system model at the current operation point with the online model identification by using measurements; ② narrowing down the gaps between unsatisfied security requirements and their security thresholds in order of priority; ③ minimizing the generation cost; ④ minimizing the security indicators within their security thresholds. Compared with the existing real-time dispatch strategies, the proposed method can adjust the deviations caused by unpredictable power flow fluctuations, avoid dispatch bias caused by model parameter errors, and reduce the constraint violations in the dispatch decision process. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified with the IEEE 39-bus system.

ObjectiveThis study aims to evaluate the effect of bilateral nasal packing on sleep oxygen saturation and its influencing factors on the first night after general anesthesia.MethodA total of 36 adult patients who underwent bilateral nasal packing with a nonabsorbable expanding sponge after general anesthesia surgery were prospectively studied. All these patients underwent overnight oximetry tests before and the first night after surgery. ObjectiveThis study mainly aimed to investigate the effect of daily duration of chronic intermittent hypoxia (CIH) exposure on circulating growth hormone (GH)/insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) concentrations and body weight changes of premature rats.Methods40 healthy male SD rats aged six weeks were enrolled in this study. ObjectiveThis study aimed to evaluate the predictive value of drug-induced sleep endoscopy (DISE) for the outcomes of velopharyngeal surgery in adult patients with Friedman stage II and III obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS).MethodsA total of 39 male OSAS patients with Friedman stage II and III were retrospectively analyzed. Subjects with an apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) > 5 events/h indicated by polysomnography (PSG) and typical symptoms, such as snoring, sleep apnea, and daytime sleepiness, were included in this study. All these patients underwent pre-operative DISE examinations and were treated by velopharyngeal surgery and evaluated by velum, oropharynx, tongue base, and epiglottis (VOTE) scoring system. Clinical, polysomnographic parameters (e.g., hypopnea, apnea, AHI, lowest oxygen saturation, etc.), cephalometric variables, and DISE findings were evaluated. The treatment outcomes were assessed by polysomnography at least 6 months after surgery.ResultsAll 39 patients showed complete velopharyngeal airway collapses during pre-operative DISE examinations. After surgery, the AHI was significantly improved from 50.2 ± 21.6 to 19.8 ± 19 events/h (P < 0.05). There were 23 responders (59.0%) and 16 non-responders (41.0%). The glossopharyngeal airway collapse degree (GA-CD) was significantly different between responders and non-responders (P < 0.05). The velopharyngeal airway collapse pattern (VA-CP) and GA-CD were independently predictive of treatment outcomes (both P < 0.05). Patients with non-lateral VA-CP and grade II GA-CD (collapse degree > 50%) had a significantly lower surgical success rate than those without (P < 0.05).ConclusionThe VA-CP and GA-CD in DISE examination are valuable for predicting the treatment outcomes of velopharyngeal surgery in patients with Friedman stage II and III OSAS. Patients with lateral VA-CP and grade I GA-CD are appropriate candidates for velopharyngeal surgery.

ObjectiveTo explore the association between laryngopharyngeal reflux disease (LPRD)-related symptoms and the Eustachian tube (ET) function in adult patients with otitis media with effusion (OME).Materials and methodsA total of 105 adult patients with OME were retrospectively studied. All these patients had undergone tubomanometry (TMM) test for the affected ears before treatments. The LPRD-related symptoms were all assessed by the Reflux Symptom Index (RSI) scale.ResultsAmong the 105 included patients, the numbers of subjects with only one and both two ears affected were 65 (57.1%) and 40 (42.9%), respectively. Therefore, a total of 145 affected ears were studied. For these affected ears, a linear regression analysis that included sex, age, BMI, smoking history, drinking history, RSI value, and the condition of the contralateral ear suggested that only RSI value was significantly associated with TMM value (P < 0.001), with the correlation coefficient of −0.112. Among the 9 symptoms in RSI scale, affected ears with the following symptoms (vs. affected ears without) showed significantly lower TMM values: excess throat mucus or postnasal drip, difficulty swallowing food, liquids, or pills, and sensations of something stuck in your throat or a lump in your throat (all P < 0.05).ConclusionLPRD may disrupt ET function in adult OME patients. A higher RSI score is independently predictive for a bad ET patency in such patients and is indicative for an additional anti-reflux therapy.

ObjectivesTo compare the pain levels, degrees of pharyngeal swelling, and weight loss after tonsillectomy vs. tonsillotomy in children clinically diagnosed with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) over the first seven postoperative days, and to determine which procedure was associated with better recovery in the early postoperative period.MethodsBetween April 2021 and December 2021, 121 children with OSA (80 males and 41 females), ranging from 3 to 12 years of age with an average age of 6.7 years, were prospectively enrolled in this study conducted at Zhengzhou Central Hospital Affiliated to Zhengzhou University. The patients were randomly divided into two groups: a tonsillotomy group with 63 cases (40 males and 23 females) and a tonsillectomy group with 58 cases (40 males and 18 females). When developing novel radiopharmaceuticals, a linker moiety between the chelator and targeting vector can have a crucial influence on adjusting the affinity of the tracer and its biodistribution in organisms. To develop novel 99mTc-labelled hypoxia imaging radiotracers, in this study, five isocyanide-containing 2-nitroimidazole derivatives with different linkers (L1, L2, L3, L4 and L5) were synthesised and radiolabelled with technetium-99m to obtain five stable 99mTc-complexes ([99mTc]Tc-L1, [99mTc]Tc-L2, [99mTc]Tc-L3, [99mTc]Tc-L4 and [99mTc]Tc-L5). Corresponding rhenium analogues of [99mTc]Tc-L1 were synthesised and suggested the structures of these 99mTc-complexes would be a monovalent cation with a technetium (I) core surrounded by six ligands. [99mTc]Tc-L1 is hydrophilic, while the lipophilicities of [99mTc]Tc-L2, [99mTc]Tc-L3, [99mTc]Tc-L4 and [99mTc]Tc-L5 are close. In vitro cell experiments showed that all five novel 99mTc-complexes had higher uptake in hypoxic cells compared with aerobic cells, which indicates the complexes have good hypoxia selectivity. The biodistribution of the five 99mTc-complexes in S180 tumour-bearing mice showed that they all had certain uptake in the tumours. Among them, [99mTc]Tc-L1 had the highest tumour-to-muscle (4.68 ± 0.44) and tumour-to-blood (3.81 ± 0.46) ratios. The introduction of polyethylene glycol (PEG) chains effectively reduced the lipophilicity and decreased uptake by the liver, intestine and blood but also increased clearance from the tumours. In vivo metabolic studies showed [99mTc]Tc-L1 kept intact and remained stable in tumour, blood and urine at 2 h post-injection. The results of SPECT imaging showed that [99mTc]Tc-L1 had significant tumour uptake at 2 h post-injection, but there was still high uptake in abdominal organs such as the liver and kidney, suggesting that this complex needs to be further optimised before being used for tumour hypoxia imaging.

The plum is a kind of delicious and common fruit with high edible value and nutritional value. The accurate and effective detection of plum fruit is the key to fruit number counting and pest and disease early warning. However, the actual plum orchard environment is complex, and the detection of plum fruits has many problems, such as leaf shading and fruit overlapping. The traditional method of manually estimating the number of fruits and the presence of pests and diseases used in the plum growing industry has disadvantages, such as low efficiency, a high cost, and low accuracy. To detect plum fruits quickly and accurately in a complex orchard environment, this paper proposes an efficient plum fruit detection model based on an improved You Only Look Once version 7(YOLOv7). First, different devices were used to capture high-resolution images of plum fruits growing under natural conditions in a plum orchard in Gulin County, Sichuan Province, and a dataset for plum fruit detection was formed after the manual screening, data enhancement, and annotation. Based on the dataset, this paper chose YOLOv7 as the base model, introduced the Convolutional Block Attention Module (CBAM) attention mechanism in YOLOv7, used Cross Stage Partial Spatial Pyramid Pooling–Fast (CSPSPPF) instead of Cross Stage Partial Spatial Pyramid Pooling(CSPSPP) in the network, and used bilinear interpolation to replace the nearest neighbor interpolation in the original network upsampling module to form the improved target detection algorithm YOLOv7-plum. The tested YOLOv7-plum model achieved an average precision (AP) value of 94.91%, which was a 2.03% improvement compared to the YOLOv7 model. In order to verify the effectiveness of the YOLOv7-plum algorithm, this paper evaluated the performance of the algorithm through ablation experiments, statistical analysis, etc. The experimental results showed that the method proposed in this study could better achieve plum fruit detection in complex backgrounds, which helped to promote the development of intelligent cultivation in the plum industry.

This study focuses on the gas-particle (G-P) partitioning of 16 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) from oil combustion, which is one of the important contributors of anthropogenic PAHs but has been rarely studied. The combustions of different types of oils involving ultra-light to heavy oils were investigated, and the PAH partitioning mechanism was determined by the widely used Junge-Pankow adsorption model, Koa absorption model, and dual sorption model, respectively. The results show that the source-specific diagnostic ratios of Ant/(Ant+Phe) are between 0.09 and 0.24, the estimated regression slopes of G-P partition coefficients (KP) of the total PAHs on their sub-cooled liquid vapor pressures (PLO) are in the range of − 0.34 to − 0.25, and the predicted fractions of PAHs in the particle phase (φ) by Koa absorption model are close to the measured values, while the log KPvalues of the LMW PAHs from the combustions of diesel and heavy oil are better represented by the dual sorption model. Our findings indicate that PAHs are derived from mixed sources that include the unburned original oil and combustion products, and the PAH partitioning mechanism is governed by the process of absorption into organic matter because of the unburned oil, but both adsorption and absorption exist simultaneously in the lighter PAHs from the combustions of heavier oils (i.e., diesel and heavy oil). Based on these findings, the understanding of the fate and transport of PAH emissions and the optimization of the emergency responses to accidents such as marine oil spills would be potentially improved.

Abstract Two-dimensional MXene-based materials are potential of presenting unique catalytic performances of electrocatalytic reactions. The surface functionalization of MXene-based catalysts is attractive for developing efficient electrocatalysts toward nitrogen reduction reaction. Herein, we reported a Ti3C2Tx MXene with a medium density of surface functionalized fluorine terminal groups, as an excellent N2 reduction reaction electrocatalyst with enhanced adsorption and activation of N2. The Ti3C2Tx MXene catalyst showed a production rate of ammonia as 2.81 × 10–5 μmol·s−1·cm−2, corresponding to a partial current density of 18.3 μA·cm−2 and a Faradic efficiency of 7.4% at − 0.7 V versus reversible hydrogen electrode in aqueous solutions at ambient conditions, substantially exceeding similar Ti3C2Tx MXene catalysts but with higher or lower densities of surface fluorine terminal groups. Our work suggests the capability of developing surface functionalization toolkit for enhancing electrochemical catalytic activities of two-dimensional MXene-based materials.

To develop novel tumor imaging agents with high tumor uptake and excellent tumor/non-target ratios, a glucose derivative containing cyclohexane (CNMCHDG) was synthesized and labeled with Tc-99m. [99mTc]Tc-CNMCHDG was prepared by a kit formulation that was straightforward to operate and fast. Without purification, [99mTc]Tc-CNMCHDG had a high radiochemical purity of over 95% and great in vitro stability and hydrophilicity (log P = −3.65 ± 0.10). In vitro cellular uptake studies showed that the uptake of [99mTc]Tc-CNMCHDG was significantly inhibited by pre-treatment with D-glucose and increased by pre-treatment with insulin. Preliminary cellular studies have demonstrated that the mechanism by which the complex enters into cells may be related to GLUTs. The results of biodistribution and SPECT imaging studies displayed high tumor uptake and good retention of [99mTc]Tc-CNMCHDG in A549 tumor-bearing mice (4.42 ± 0.36%ID/g at 120 min post-injection). Moreover, [99mTc]Tc-CNMCHDG exhibited excellent tumor-to-non-target ratios and a clean imaging background and is a potential candidate for clinical transformation.

Abstract Forest soils play an important role in controlling global warming by reducing atmospheric methane (CH4) concentrations. However, little attention has been paid to how nitrogen (N) deposition may alter microorganism communities that are related to the CH4 cycle or CH4 oxidation in subtropical forest soils. We investigated the effects of N addition (0, 30, 60, or 90 kg N ha−1 yr−1) on soil CH4 flux and methanotroph and methanogen abundance, diversity, and community structure in a Moso bamboo (Phyllostachys edulis) forest in subtropical China. N addition significantly increased methanogen abundance but reduced both methanotroph and methanogen diversity. Methanotroph and methanogen community structures under the N deposition treatments were significantly different from those of the control. In N deposition treatments, the relative abundance of Methanoculleus was significantly lower than that in the control. Soil pH was the key factor regulating the changes in methanotroph and methanogen diversity and community structure. The CH4 emission rate increased with N addition and was negatively correlated with both methanotroph and methanogen diversity but positively correlated with methanogen abundance. Overall, our results suggested that N deposition can suppress CH4 uptake by altering methanotroph and methanogen abundance, diversity, and community structure in subtropical Moso bamboo forest soils.

Abstract Background It is still not clear whether the effects of N deposition on soil greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions are influenced by plantation management schemes. A field experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of conventional management (CM) versus intensive management (IM), in combination with simulated N deposition levels of control (ambient N deposition), 30 kg N·ha− 1·year− 1 (N30, ambient + 30 kg N·ha− 1·year− 1), 60 kg N·ha− 1·year− 1 (N60, ambient + 60 kg N·ha− 1·year− 1), or 90 kg N·ha− 1·year− 1 (N90, ambient + 90 kg N·ha− 1·year− 1) on soil CO2, CH4, and N2O fluxes. For this, 24 plots were set up in a Moso bamboo (Phyllostachys edulis) plantation from January 2013 to December 2015. Gas samples were collected monthly from January 2015 to December 2015. Results Compared with CM, IM significantly increased soil CO2 emissions and their temperature sensitivity (Q 10) but had no significant effects on soil CH4 uptake or N2O emissions. In the CM plots, N30 and N60 significantly increased soil CO2 emissions, while N60 and N90 significantly increased soil N2O emissions. In the IM plots, N30 and N60 significantly increased soil CO2 and N2O emissions, while N60 and N90 significantly decreased soil CH4 uptake. Overall, in both CM and IM plots, N30 and N60 significantly increased global warming potentials, whereas N90 did not significantly affect global warming potential. However, N addition significantly decreased the Q 10 value of soil CO2 emissions under IM but not under CM. Soil microbial biomass carbon was significantly and positively correlated with soil CO2 and N2O emissions but significantly and negatively correlated with soil CH4 uptake. Conclusion Our results indicate that management scheme effects should be considered when assessing the effect of atmospheric N deposition on GHG emissions in bamboo plantations.

ObjectiveTo analyze the correlation between prognosis of sudden total deafness (STD) and peripheral blood inflammation markers including white blood cell count (WBC), monocytes, neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio (NLR), platelet/lymphocyte ratio (PLR), fibrinogen (FIB).Methods125 patients with STD who were hospitalized in our department from 2014 to 2019 were enrolled. The general physical conditions, clinical manifestations, pure tone audiometry, imaging examination, and peripheral blood inflammation markers were collected, and all patients were divided into effective and ineffective two groups according to the degree of hearing recovery at the time of discharge. Then binary logistic regression was used to analyze the correlation between multiple factors and prognosis, meanwhile the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was used to evaluate the predictive value of the above prognostic factors.ResultsCompared with the ineffective group, patients in the effective group were younger and have higher PLR level and lower FIB levels. Age and PLR are independent prognostic factors. Taking age ≤ 56 years old, PLR >142.6 as the standard to predict the prognosis of patients with STD has the largest AUC with the potential effective rate reaching 78.1%.ConclusionsAge and PLR are independent prognostic factors for patients with STD. The younger the age and the higher the PLR, the better the prognosis. Clinically, the prognosis of patients with STD can be evaluated by the patient's age and PLR level, which is of great significance to predict the prognosis of patients with STD.
