Relationship between grand strategies and performance of manufacturing firms has gained credence globally. Manufacturing firms in Japan have recorded greater success in manufacturing sector globally due to their ability to adopt various grand strategies that have aided them to achieve sustained competitive advantage. However, manufacturing industry in Kenya has experienced decline over the last five years. Manufacturing sector GDP contribution in Kenya has reduced in 2022 first quarter to KES 118,134 from KES 113,460 million 2022 second quarter. Therefore, this study sought to examine the influence of grand strategies on performance of manufacturing firms in Nairobi County, Kenya. The specific objectives were to examine the influence of product development strategy on performance of manufacturing firms and to establish the influence of turnaround strategy on performance of manufacturing firms in Nairobi County, Kenya. The study was guided by Igor Ansoff’s theory, and Stage theory of successful turnaround. Descriptive research design was used in this study. One hundred (100) respondents from 20 large manufacturing firms in Nairobi County were targeted. The sampling frame comprised of marketing/sales managers, finance managers, human resource managers, operational managers, Strategy & Business Development Managers. The study sampled 100 using census sampling technique. Primary data was collected using a well-designed questionnaire. Quantitative data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Descriptive analysis was summarized data in form of central tendency as well as dispersion and inferential analysis was used to test hypothesis at a significance level of 0.05. Descriptive analysis included; frequencies, Mean, Standard deviation and percentage while inferential analysis involved correlation analysis and multiple linear regression analysis. Prior to conducting multiple linear regressions, the study ensured that the assumptions of linear regression are met. The data was presented in form of tables and models. The results indicated that product development strategy had positive and significant effect on organizational performance. Turnaround strategy had a positive and significant effect on performance. On the other hand, the regression analysis revealed that the grand strategies explained up to 64.5% change in organizational performance of manufacturing firms in Nairobi County. The study concluded that grand strategies significantly influence organizational performance of manufacturing firms in Nairobi County. This study recommends that management of manufacturing firms pursuing product development strategies so as to come up with products that meet the changing needs of their customers. It is recommended that the companies should open new branches in new geographical areas to reach new customers not only beyond Nairobi County, but also beyond East Africa. The companies can expand their product lines by developing new products that may or may not be related to the current products to target current customers. The study recommends that management of manufacturing firms should create an organizational culture that is in line with their turnaround strategy. The study sought to determine the effect of Public Private Partnership on Financial Sustainability of Nzoia Water Services Projects in Kenya. The general objective of the study was to assess the effect of Public Private Partnership on Financial Sustainability of Nzoia Water Services Projects in Kenya. Specific objectives included to determine the effect of Leasing finance on Financial Sustainability of Nzoia Water Services Projects in Kenya and to determine the effect of Concessions finance on Financial Sustainability of Nzoia Water Services Projects in Kenya. The study employed descriptive survey research design, through the administration of semi- structured questionnaires. The target population was one finance respondent in Nzoia Water Services Company (Finance Manager, Senior Accountant, Finance Officer, Accounts Clerk and Internal Audit Manager) from each water treatment works namely Nabuyole, Matisi, Kapkateny, Chesikaki, Terem and Nzoia. The total target population for the study was 30 Finance respondents. The instrument was piloted to water projects implemented in Trans Nzoia County for the period 2016- 2021. Data collected was coded, keyed in the computer and analyzed with the aid of the Statistical Package for Social Science (SPSS version 26) computer software for Windows. Leasing Finance had a positive correlation of 0.724 The p value (0.000) < 0.01 indicating an increase in PPP if maintained while Concessions Finance had a positive correlation of 0.527 with p value (0.000) < 0.0. The findings showed that leasing was statistically and positively significant in determining financial sustainability of Nzoia Water Service Projects in Kenya while Concession was negatively significant. The results depicted that there was no multicollinearity because the VIF values were less than 10. The researcher recommended that management of water bodies in Kenya need to adhere to policies concerning water project enactments to increase water supply in regions. The financial aspect should keenly be audited to avoid the problems of water projects failure. Further, the study recommends that the Nzoia water project boards should ensure the implementation of the PPP reforms that will help in enhancing concessions and greater cooperative arrangements among water projects in Kenya. Countries depend on their civil service for the achievement and implementation of social, economic, and environmentally sustainable development as the machinery that design, formulate and implement policies, strategies, and programs, and discharge the routine functions of the state. This study aimed at exploring the relationship between distributive justice and organizational citizenship behavior among civil servants in Kenya. Distributive justice is critical in achieving increased employee morale, reduced turnover, and productive culture. This study was informed by increased counterproductive work behaviors among civil servants which have resulted in poor quality services to citizens. A cross-sectional research design was adopted to study three hundred and seventy-five employees who were selected through simple random sampling to respond to a structured questionnaire. Data collected were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The results confirmed the existence of a positive and significant relationship between distributive justice and organizational citizenship behavior; correlation coefficient, R= .625, P=.000; coefficient of determinant, R-squared = .391, ANOVA results with significant F-value and T-value for the Beta coefficient. The study concluded that distributive justice was a critical factor in inspiring organizational citizenship behavior of civil servants in Kenya and should be by civil service management to improve performance. This result adds to the existing knowledge, and theory and confirms the dimensionality of distributive justice in an African cultural setting. The main objective of this study was to determine effect of capital efficiency on default risk in commercial banks in Kenya. According to the bank supervisory report, the interest rate spread widened to 13 per cent at the end of December 2011 from 10.3 per cent by December 2010 which the CBK Governor termed as a sign of inefficiency in the banking sector. Secondary data was used in the study and descriptive survey design was applied. The target population was 42 Commercial Banks in Kenya out of which 2 were under receivership and 1 was under statutory management. Panel data for 39 commercial banks for the six years period from 2014 to 2019 were obtained from the CBK and individual bank websites. The study was guided by Agency theory, Moral hazard theory and Stakeholders theory. Descriptive statistics, correlation analysis and random and fixed effects were used for secondary data using E-views software. The findings indicated correlation coefficients of capital adequacy and return on equity of -0.14 and -0.11 respectively signifying a negative correlation between capital efficiency and non-performing loans. The main purpose of the paper was toexamine the influence of corporate governance on the stock liquidity of firms listed at the Nairobi Securities Exchange. Specifically, theinfluence of ownership structure on stock liquidity and the influence of audit committee structure on stock liquidity. The study was informed by Agency, Stewardship, and Resource Dependence Theories. This study used a combination of explanatory and longitudinal research design. The target population comprised67 firms listed in Nairobi stock exchange Nairobi Securities Exchange. The data collection instruments used were structured questionnaire for primary data and content/document analysis guide, which were purposively administered to 67 company secretaries of firms listed at the NSE. Both descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze data. Inferential statistics are closely tied to the logic of hypothesis testing discussed.
