This activity aims to identify development problems and find solutions to problems through the establishment of KKN programs to encourage community development in Kampung Moyang, Prafi District, Manokwari Regency. The method of this service activity is through assistance and counseling to the community in the form of training, lectures, and direct socialization in several programs that have been planned based on the results of preliminary observations at the KKN location. The health sector activities carried out are distributing masks and posters of healthy lifestyles, counseling on good and correct toothbrushes, and healthy gymnastics for PKK mothers and children. The field of village administration through the making of PKK program signboards, PKTMB signage boards, 7K signboards, and village administration maps. The environmental sector through community service work activities with residents and the manufacture of trash cans. The field of education through activities introduces letters, numbers, and coloring pictures. In addition, other supporting activities were carried out in the economic and cultural fields, namely through activities to make cassava-based chips with PKK mothers and introduce Papuan folk songs to children. The results of the implementation of the activity showed that training and mentoring, as well as socialization in Kampung Moyang, were able to have a positive impact on increasing the knowledge, attitudes, and skills of the people of Kampung Moyang. The KKN group has been able to identify development problems in Kampung Moyang and has been able to provide solutions for the improvement of Kampung Moyang. Keywords: KKN; Moyang Village; PKM. ABSTRAK Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi permasalahan pembangunan serta mencari solusi pemecahan masalah melalui pembentukan program-program KKN untuk mendorong pembangunan masyarakat di Kampung Moyang Distrik Prafi Kabupaten Manokwari. Metode kegiatan pengabdian ini melalui pendampingan dan penyuluhan kepada masyarakat dalam bentuk pelatihan, ceramah dan sosialisasi secara langsung pada beberapa program yang sudah direncanakan berdasarkan hasil observasi awal di lokasi KKN. Kegiatan bidang kesehatan yang dilaksankan adalah membagikan masker dan poster pola hidup sehat, penyuluhan sikat gigi yang baik dan benar serta senam sehat untuk ibu-ibu PKK dan anak-anak. Bidang administrasi kampung melalui pembuatan papan plang program PKK, papan plang PKTMB, papan plang 7K dan peta adminitrasi kampung. Bidang lingkungan melalui kegiatan kerja bakti bersama warga dan pembuatan tempat sampah. Bidang pendidikan melalui kegiatan memperkenalkan huruf, angka dan mewarnai gambar. Selain itu, dilakukan kegiatan pendukung lainya dalam bidang ekonomi dan budaya yaitu melalui kegiatan pembuatan keripik berbahan dasar singkong bersama ibu-ibu PKK dan memperkenalkan lagu daerah Papua kepada anak-anak. Hasil pelaksanaan kegiatan menunjukan bahwa pelatihan dan pendampingan serta sosialisasi di Kampung Moyang mampu memberikan dampak positif terhadap peningkatan pengetahuan, sikap dan keterampilan masyarakat Kampung Moyang. Kelompok KKN sudah mampu mengidentifikasi permasalahan pembangunan di Kampung Moyang dan sudah mampu memberikan solusi untuk perbaikan Kampung Moyang. Kata kunci: Kampung Moyang; KKN; PKM

An urban forest is a collection of trees growing among buildings and people where they can protect the city as the functional traits. Forests are playing an important role in stabilizing CO2 concentrations in the atmosphere. As forest is a source of CO2 emissions, forests are also able to absorb and store CO2, so we could estimate the amount of CO2 absorbed by forest trees by calculating their biomass. This study aims to obtain the amount of carbon stock stored in the City Forest of Bumi Saniari, Teluk Bintuni Regency. Carbon stock was calculated to obtaine aboveground carbon (AGB), below ground carbon (BGB) and litter carbon (CS). In this study no measurements were made of soil carbon. The method used in this research is descriptive method and field survey with measurements using the nondestructive method. The results obtained were 801.52 tons of stored carbon above ground (AGB), the soil surface / litter (CS) is 273.54 tons C. The total carbon stock is 10 hectares of 1,411.69 tons C.

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mencari konsentrasi dan kombinasi zat pengatur tumbuh (IBA, BAP dan GA3) yang cocok guna pertumbuhan embrio dari tanaman Merbau (Intsia bijuga OK.) pada media Murashige & Skoog (MS) untuk mendapatkan tanaman yang sempurna melalui teknik kultur jaringan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimen dengan teknik observasi menggunakan perhitungan statistik deskriptif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan eksplan embrio merbau (Intsia bijuga OK.) yang terbaik adalah menggunakan media dengan zat pengatur tumbuh pada media MS + GA3 2 ppm dengan persen hidup 100% dan memiliki persen eksplan kontaminasi 0%. Pertumbuhan tunas pada perlakuan ini terjadi pada umur 86 hari dengan rata-rata pertumbuhan tunas sebesar ± 0,2 cm, persen eksplan bertunas 0%, pada pertumbuhan terbentuknya akar pada minggu ketujuh dari pengamatan.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat kesesuaian kombinasi konsentrasi beberapa zat pengatur tumbuh terhadap pertumbuhan embrio Intsia bijuga melalui media tumbuh. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah eksperimen dengan perhitungan statistik deskriptif melalui ulangan perlakuan sampel. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat variasi waktu dari respon kultur embrio Intsia bijuga terhadap media tumbuhnya. Tingkat persentasi hidup eksplan dengan perlakuan MS 0 dan MS + Kinetin 2 ppm memiliki persentasi hidup eksplan 100%. Namun kontaminasi juga terlihat banyak pada perlakuan media MS + Kinetin 4 ppm + GA3 2 ppm dan media MS + Kinetin 4 ppm + GA3 2ppm + IBA 1 ppm. Adanya kombinasi hormon kinetin dan GA3 akan mendorong pertumbuhan tunas.

Diameter increment is an important information used to set silvicultural prescription that plays a crucial role in sustainable forest management. Therefor e , this research was aimed to analyze diameter increment of remnant stands in selectively logged forest in Papua. The dataset was acquired from permanent sample plots in logging concessions of PT Tunas Timber Lestari (TTL), PT Wapoga Mutiara Timber (WMT) dan PT Manokwari Mandiri Lestari (MML). The diameter measurements were conducted annually for 6 – 9 years on three 1 ha permanent plots. Diameter increment was calculated by measuring a gap between trees diameter in year t+1 and year t. The results showed that the average diameter increment of commercial species groups in those areas were 0.56 cm/ yr , 0.59 cm/ yr and 0.65 cm/ yr , respectively. These increments were smaller than the increment assumption of Indonesian Selective Logging (TPTI) i.e. 1 .00 cm/yr. T he diameter increment distribution based on diameter classes showed different patterns among sites. T he diameter increment distribution in PT MML and WMT increased with the increasing diameter, otherwise those in PT TTL tend to decrease with the increasing diameter class. Globally, carbon‐rich mangrove forests are deforested and degraded due to land‐use and land‐cover change (LULCC). The impact of mangrove deforestation on carbon emissions has been reported on a global scale; however, uncertainty remains at subnational scales due to geographical variability and field data limitations. We present an assessment of blue carbon storage at five mangrove sites across West Papua Province, Indonesia, a region that supports 10% of the world's mangrove area. The sites are representative of contrasting hydrogeomorphic settings and also capture change over a 25‐years LULCC chronosequence. Field‐based assessments were conducted across 255 plots covering undisturbed and LULCC‐affected mangroves (0‐, 5‐, 10‐, 15‐ and 25‐year‐old post‐harvest or regenerating forests as well as 15‐year‐old aquaculture ponds). Undisturbed mangroves stored total ecosystem carbon stocks of 182–2,730 (mean ± SD: 1,087 ± 584) Mg C/ha, with the large variation driven by hydrogeomorphic settings. The highest carbon stocks were found in estuarine interior (EI) mangroves, followed by open coast interior, open coast fringe and EI forests. Forest harvesting did not significantly affect soil carbon stocks, despite an elevated dead wood density relative to undisturbed forests, but it did remove nearly all live biomass. Aquaculture conversion removed 60% of soil carbon stock and 85% of live biomass carbon stock, relative to reference sites. By contrast, mangroves left to regenerate for more than 25 years reached the same level of biomass carbon compared to undisturbed forests, with annual biomass accumulation rates of 3.6 ± 1.1 Mg C ha−1 year−1. This study shows that hydrogeomorphic setting controls natural dynamics of mangrove blue carbon stocks, while long‐term land‐use changes affect carbon loss and gain to a substantial degree. Shifting cultivation, as traditional agroforestry system with trial-and-error to provide sustainable land-use type, has been developed based on social, cultural and economic realities of local community. Development of shifting cultivation in Papua is usually to achieve household food security and economic access if their own needs fulfilled. However, the local agroforestry practices (LAPs) were still lack information on species diversity and technology. Enhancing the knowledge and skills of the LAPs are needed to improve modified agroforestry system for food security and climate change adaptation. Data was collected from households of Teluk Patipi District of Fak-Fak Regency using purposive sampling method through farm inventory. Through the modified agroforestry practice (MAPs), the production scale is expected to increase the local community income as well as to prepare food security in extreme climate conditions, the preservation of typical species, environmental conservation, and support low-carbon development strategy in West Papua.

A New Guinea Orchid, Dendrobium antennatum Lindl urgently needs to conserve. The availability of in vitro germination technique for this orchids is significantly important to present the useful tool for conservation effort. This study aimed to find a simple media that consists of Growmore 10-55-10, a foliar fertilizer and complex organic i.e. coconut water, banana pulp, onion spring extract, and carrot juice. Five in vitro medium for seed germination and four in vitro sub-culture medium for planlet growth were formulated and used in this study. Our findings revealed that seed germination in vitro of Dendrobium antennatum well occured on the medium of Growmore 10-55-10 supplemented with 10% coconut water (GCw) and of Growmore 10-55-10 supplemented with 50 g/l extract spring onion. The seed germination process from sowing the seed to plantlet production ready to transfer to sub-culture medium for further growth took time 140 days. The embryo became pale green at the day 11 on the germination media. It could be used as a tool for detection of viability of the seeds. Both seed germination medium could be used also as sub-culture medium for enhancing the growth of the plantlets but not for multiplication of shoots.

Seagrass is a high level and a flowering plant that is fully adapted to life in the coastal and has ability to store carbon by 10% of the carbon content in the oceans. The research doing at Gunung Botak Bay Coastal South Manokwari Regency with objective of research to estimate seagrass density and to estimate rate accumulation of carbon from Enhalus acroides. Some the stages of the research done is density sample as long to period 2015 (April and Mei) into (September and Ocktober). Other sampling to collecting seagrass to estimate carbon storage in part like daun, rhizome root and substrat. Result to showing average carbon accumulation of seagrass in above below ground is rhizome part and higher in Statiun1 (13.16±3.8),stasiun 3 (5.4±2.9) dan stasiun 5 (6.2±1.1) or the generally accumulation carbon in the three is 8.24 kg from Enhalus acroides. Future more, accumulation carbon in sediment as a 1664,2 in dept 0-20 cm and 20-60 cm. Seagrass carbon storage capabilities will assist in mitigation efforts to reduce the impact of climate change in Indonesia, especially in West Papua.

Merbau [Intsia bijuga (Colebr.) O. Kuntze] is one of valuable timber tree in south-east Asia which has been known having ectomycorrhizae (EcM) though being ignored. Identification of the ectomycorrizae is prime important for being basis of further studies. This study investigated the EcM fungi associated with Merbau by using both sporocarp morphology and EcM morphotypes. Morphological characters of sporocarps and basidiocarps of the fungi and EcM morphotypes obtained from seedlings and trees from natural and plantation stands of merbau, as well as from nurseries were compared to the description of those resulted from baiting method. Only one species of ectomycorrhizal fungus was found associated with merbau [Intsia bijuga (Colebr.) Kuntze] which has not been described yet. The fungus formed mycorrhizae with monopodial pinnate branching. The fungus was identified belonging to the genus of Scleroderma. The fungus was more common to occur beneath merbau seedlings than trees. The sporocarps may be yielded under greenhouse condition and could be cultured in MMN agar media, thus it facilitates to the production of inoculums used for further studies.

Cagar Alam Pegunungan Tamrau Utara dan Suaka Margasatwa Jamursba Medi adalah dua kawasan konservasi yang terdapat diPapua. Kedua kawasan konservasi inimulai tahun 2000 telah diusulkan untuk digabungkan menjadi satu yaitu kawasan Taman Nasional Pegunungan Tamrau Utara- Pantai Jarnursba-Medi. Sebagai kawasan konservasi kedua kawasan itu memiliki beberapa prioritas yang berdasarkan pada kekayaan jenis, keanekaragaman habitat, dan nilai keunikan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui struktur dan komposisi jenis tumbuhan berkayu pada hutan dataran rendah koridor Cagar Alam (CA) Pegunungan TamrauUtara dan Suaka Margasatwa (SM) Jamursba-MediSorong.Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian in iadalah metode deskriptif dengan teknik survey. Pengambilan contoh vegetasi menggunakan petak contoh Witthaker yang telah di modifikasi. Peletakan petak contoh dilakukan secara purposif dengan memperhatikan faktor kelerengan, ketinggian tempat, danjarak dari sungai.Hasilpenelitian menunjukkan bahwa populasi hutan dikoridor C.A. Pegunungan Tamrau Utara S.M.Pantai Jamursba-Medi tersusun atas 52 jenis pohon, 23 jenis tiang, 28 jenis pancang, dan 42 jenis anakan. Pada tingkat pohon terdapat 23 famili,tingkat tiang 15 famili, tingkat pancang 18 famili,dan tingkat anakan 30famili.Padatingkat permudaan semaivegetasi berkayu (pohon) yangdominan adalah Drypetes longifolia,Meme cylon sp.,dan Sizygium sp.;pada tingkat permudaan pancang jenis yang dominan adalah Canarium indica,Vaticap apuana, dan Lithocarpusr ufovillosus; tingkat permudaan tiangjenis yang dorninan adalah L.rufovillosus, Reinwardtiodendron sp., dan Urandra brasii; sedangkan pada tingkat pohon jenis yang dominan adalah L.rufovillosus ,Intsiapalembanica , dan Pometiapinnata.

Matoa (Pometia pinnata) is a local fruit of Papua (formerly called Irian Jaya) which has high potensial to develop as comercial fruit. Highly significant genetic resources of matoa potentially for breeding program in Papua are being threatened as a result of cutting down trees for fruit harvesting and of forest exploitation for timber. Besides the loss of genetic resources facing now, other major problems should be consider for conservation and domestication of this fruit tree species i.e. lack of silviculture and agronomy knowledge for further breeding programs; matoa production only for local market; and inadequate government policy for matoa breeding program. Strategy developed for matoa conservation and domestication should also concern about time limited due to the fast loss of genetic poll. This paper provides a general overview of strategy for conservation and domestication of Pometia pinnata with special reference to Papua.

The aims of the research were to provide a base-line for interpreting and documenting future changes in vegetation cover. Base maps such as navigation map issued by Dishidros, the department of transportation year 1912 and 1917, and map of proposed Bintuni bay natural reserved issued by Biphut, Forestry Department year 2000, were compared to Landsat TMS images from 1989, 1999, and 2002 to evaluate changes in coastline: significant changes in land formation due to accretion and erosion were recorded.
