Inter alia, personal integrity is protected with right to privacy. In that context we can observe employee's right to privacy as an integral part of occupational safety and health. Personal integrity protection provide adequate health and working ability which is indispensable for productive work. Productive work is vital for employment relationship and represents compatibility of employer' and employee' interests in employment relationship. But in employment relation employer has supervisory prerogatives to provide profit. Employer's supervisory prerogatives may lead to violation of employee's right to privacy at work. About that, essential questions are - on which conditions and on which proportion employer may restrict employee's right to privacy at work? Authors of this paper tried to answer to these questions relying on legal standards in international law.

The principle of equality in labour law, i.e, in the field of employment and work, means the equality of chances in achieving socio-economic rights in that field and equal opportunities in title and protection of such rights. This principle has three aspects (elements): firstly, the equality of chances in achieving socio-economic rights and equalities when getting title and protecting those rights, as the main and affirmative substratum of this principle; secondly, the prohibition on discrimination when achieving and protecting socio-economic rights, as the protective element of equality and equal opportunities; thirdly, positive discrimination when getting title to and protecting socio-economic rights, as a legitimate addition to the prohibition on discrimination. The principle of equality can be purposeful only by parallel exposing all of the named aspects. In other words, the equality aspect of chances and equal opportunities when getting title to certain rights is provided by prohibiting discrimination, and the prohibition on discrimination is provided and accompanied by positive discrimination. Due to its significance, the principle of equality is encompassed in many legal documents (international, European and domestic), and in the light of which this principle is shown in the three named aspects (elements).

Question of employee's protection at work is one of the most significant in Labour law. Here it is important to recognize two aspects of employee's protection. On the one hand it is protection of the employee's physical integrity, and on the other, it is protection of the employee's moral integrity. Unlike protection of the employee's physical integrity which is object of Labour law's interest since it beginings, protection of employee's moral integrity is in Labour law's focus just in last few decades. This shifting is a consequence of considering employee in employment relationship not just as a manpower, but as a person, with all aspects of it - physical, spiritual, social. Legal framework for our topic relies on relation of two social phenomena - moral and law. Nowadays, question of employee's moral integrity protection is legally and socially significant because of it's complexity and multidimensionality. In addition, the fact that different aspects of the employee's moral integrity have different legal frameworks, makes this paper even more actual and more necessary.

Question of employee's protection at work has a vital significance for labour relations. When it comes to employee's protection at work it is not just about protection of physical integrity but also moral integrity. This is because not only manpower, as an organic unity of health and work abilities takes part in labour relations, but also the entire personality of employee with the overall personal integrity, which also on its part requires appropriate labour law treatment and protection. Any kind of injury at work or professional illness cause the negative economic and social consequences for both, employee(because only a healthy employee can work and earn for a living) and employer as well (because this situation leads to decrease in profit). Taking into account importance which employee's protection at work has for labour relations, it is not surprising that international and European labour law abound with legislation in this area. That is why substantial part of this paper is dedicated to international and European labour law standards about employee's protection at work.

The disabled enjoy special protection at work (in the work environment). The importance of this protection essentially determines the status of the disabled in the society, because it is connected with the work of the disabled with which get the means of life, but they are also brought into an equal position with other persons that do not have disability and whose working abilities are not reduced. There is a lot of vagueness in terms of terminological and meaning determination of the concept of disability, both in the international and the domestic law. We tried to elaborate the issue of disability in the paper firstly in the terminological and meaning sense and then to present international legal and domestic platform of their protection at work connected with the work, too (the work environment). Special emphasis was put on the concept of the disabled worker and their equal protection, with a critic review on the existing solutions in the effective law.

The employed women, the youth and the disabled enjoy special protection at work. Such a protection is stipulated by legal documents of the international and our labour law. The protection of women is provided for three reasons: the need to emancipate women and their equalisation with all the rights as men have; the protection due to women's physical constitution; the protection due to women's role in biological reproduction of the population (pregnancy, childbirth and maternity). The youth enjoy protection due to their young age and accordingly their adequate psychophysical and mental maturity. By youth, children and people under 18 are implied, because the minimum age for entering into labour relations is 15. This refers to the minors that are exposed to the adverse effect of the working conditions where certain more damaging and more difficult jobs can leave severe and lethal consequences on the youth's development. The disabled are people with a reduced working ability, and thus the odds of them finding a suitable job and keep it are significantly reduced, as opposed to other people. Therefore, the reasons of their special protection lie in the need to bring them to equal terms as others to achieve their socio-economic rights at work and connected with work.

The equivalent width and central depth data of Mn 539.4 nm solar spectral line, observed in the period from 1979 to 1992 at Kitt Peak Observatory, was analyzed in pursuit for periodic changes. As the observations are highly unevenly sampled, test if the periods really exist in the observed data was needed. Two different methods for spectral analysis were applied to synthesized data sampled in the same way as observations. Comparation of these results with results obtained from the observed data showed that the parameters display at least three periodic changes with the periods of: 11years, quasi-biannual and 27 days. .

The COVID-19 pandemic occurred at a high spreading rate with sudden pattern changes, high variability, and unpredictability. This generated uncertainty making it hard for authorities to predict, plan, and conventionally prepare preventive and suppressive actions. As a result, governments worldwide had to find new, more comprehensive, and complex solutions to manage the health sector in a turbulent environment. The paper’s main objective is to analyze different organizational practices that respond to the COVID-19 crisis regarding healthcare sector resilience and describe best practices. Health sector authorities should consider applying the “new mode of governance,” which refers to a policy not limited to a single approach with less hierarchy and formalism and with a flatter governance structure. Countries that have had more success in COVID-19 crisis suppression applied “dynamic resilience” with decentralization in decision-making, a more important role of front-line healthcare providers, high transparency, and flexibility enabling continuous adaptation to rapidly changing conditions.

Disruption of the redox balance in the body causes oxidative stress that can initiate many diseases. While antioxidants reduce the level of oxidizing compounds in the medium, prooxidants promote the opposite process and have been used in therapies in particular those of cancer diseases. In this study, a series of azolyl lactones, were tested in human serum as a biological matrix and the obtained values of their oxy scores (OS) were compared. The antioxidative properties of these compounds were also tested under conditions of induced oxidative stress using an external prooxidant, t-butylhydroperoxide. The results showed that the sulphur analogue 4-azolyl coumarin 5 has the best antioxidant properties (OS –2.2), while the halogenated derivatives of pyrazolylcoumarin 7 and 8 act as prooxidants, but successfully resist oxidative stress (OS 2.7 and 2.0, respectively). Related phthalides and isocoumarins showed prooxidative properties, but azolyl isocoumarins 10 and 11 show the strongest resistance to oxidative stress, reflected in their negative oxy score value (OS –2.1 and –1.1, respectively). The results demonstrated that combining two pharmacophores with known redox properties can produce potent compounds in both directions, with the antioxidative and the prooxidative characteristics.

The aging of populations and the labour force, combined with the process of digitalisation, have a significant impact on labour markets, employment, and labour rights worldwide. Industries and jobs that rely on age-appreciating skills, which improve with age, are positively affected by both aging and digitalisation, since automation compensates for the lower physical abilities of older workers, thereby increasing their productivity. On the other hand, automation threatens physical and routine jobs that require low skills. In this paper, the authors used an empirical approach and inductive method to analyse the simultaneous influence of aging and digitalisation on workforce skills and demand for employees. In the future, governments’ efforts to stimulate employment and decent work should include providing high-quality education that prepares the workforce to gain and upgrade creative and social skills. These changes require policy and regulatory interventions to address the issues of skill shifts and the transition towards both digital and green economies, while simultaneously promoting and standing for decent work conditions. This presupposes that businesses introduce and adopt sustainable, dynamic, and inclusive workplace practices. The authors propose the age management mechanism as a human resource tool, as well as its legal counterpart, the age-responsible due diligence approach, for managing the necessary changes.

Introduction/Objective. The study aims to analyze the thickness of both the ganglion cell layer and the inner plexiform layer (GCL + IPL) among patients suffering from dry and wet form of age-related macular degeneration (AMD). Methods. One hundred ninety-five patients with AMD participated in the study, along with 94 healthy individuals (mean age 75.2 ± 7.8 years; range 55–86). They were divided into three groups: the first group, or group I, included 100 patients suffering from wet AMD; the second group, or group II, included 95 patients afflicted with dry AMD; the final 94 patients made up the control group, group III, of healthy individuals without systemic or ocular diseases. Measurements such as the average macular thickness, the average and minimum GCL + IPL thickness, and the GCL + IPL thickness in all six sectors were obtained by Cirrus spectral-domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT, Carl Zeiss Meditec, Inc., Dublin, CA, USA). SPSS version 20.0 was used to analyze the data, while the level of statistical significance was set at p < 0.05. Results. In the case of patients with wet AMD, the average value for GCL + IPL thickness was 43.13 μm, for patients with dry AMD the value was 66.73 μm, and the average thickness measured for the control group was 86.23 μm. There was a statistically significant difference between the average GCL + IPL and minimum GCL + IPL thicknesses between the groups (p < 0.001). Lower values were noted for patients with wet AMD (p < 0.001) than those with dry AMD. In the latter, the average GCL + IPL and the minimum GCL + IPL thicknesses were lower than those of the healthy participants, at a level of statistical significance (p < 0.001). Conclusion. Participants with AMD exhibited thinner GCL + IPL than the healthy participants, as did the participants with wet AMD when compared to the participants with dry AMD.

Introduction/Objective. Intensive oxidative stress is proven in patients with diabetes mellitus and important in the development of a microvascular complication of type 2 diabetes mellitus. The aim of the study was to investigate the relationship between morphometric parameters of retinal blood vessels in patients with diabetic retinopathy (DR) and the levels of parameters of oxidative stress: advanced oxidation protein product (AOPP), thiobarbituric acid reactive substances (TBARS), and total sulfhydryl (SH) groups in blood samples. Methods. The patients (the group with DR and controls) were sex- and age-matched. Glycaemia, hemoglobin A1C HbA1C, total cholesterol and its fractions, and triglycerides were measured in blood samples. AOPP and total SH groups were determined in the plasma by specific methods. Modification of the thiobarbituric acid method was used for the determination of TBARS. The number and diameter of retinal blood vessels, as morphometric parameters on digital retinal photography, was determined by using the ImageJ software. Student’s t-test was used as the statistical method for the evaluation of differences between the morphometric and blood test parameters. The significance of differences in morphometric parameters of retinal blood was establish by one-way ANOVA. Results. Significantly higher levels of parameters of oxidative stress (AOPP and TBARS) were in the group of patients with DR than in the controls. This difference was also present among the patients with mild and severe forms of DR (AOPP F 77.03, p < 0.001) (TBARS F 63.28, p < 0.001). The diameter of retinal blood vessels correlated with levels of AOPP, but only in patients with mild DR. Conclusion. Parameters of oxidative stress, AOPP and TBARS, may be important for the follow-up of DR. In early stages in diabetic retinopathy, AOPP can be a valuable biomarker.

The basic objective of this paper is the articulation of possible implications for the development of creativity in school environment which rely on the existing achievements in cultural-historical psychology. After a brief historical reconstruction of the current ‘crisis’ in psychology of creativity and the review of alternative cultural- historical research model, some of the basic ideas by Vygotsky and contemporary Tetradic model for the development of creativity have been presented as the most relevant achievements. In this paper five fundamental presumptions concerning the development of creativity have been articulated and the same are used to analyse the possible implications for educational practice. These implications refer to dynamic relations between individual and social, creative and developmental, semiotic, affective and behavioural aspects of creativity, as well as the development of imagination during the ‘critical’ period of adolescence. Some of the proposed educational practices include dialogical modes for constructing knowledge, fostering of open attitude towards the sudden appearance of unexpected solutions, creation of various forms of collaboration and mutual vision, as well as the usage of metaphors and humour. Finally, what is highlighted is the practical value of cultural-historical theory of creativity, and further theoretical improvement of implications and examination of their efficiency in empirical studies in school environment have been proposed.

Introduction. Ocular surface disease (OSD) is a multifactorial disease of the tears and ocular surface that results in symptoms of discomfort, visual disturbances, tear film instability with potential damage to the ocular surface, accompanied by increased tear film osmolarity and inflammation of the ocular surface. It is a consequence of disrupted homeostasis of lacrimal functional unit. The main pathogenetic mechanism stems from tear hyperosmolarity and tear film instability. The etiological classification is hyposecretory (Sy-Sjögren and non-Sjögren) and evaporative (extrinsic and intrinsic) form. Delphi panel classification grades disease stages. Antiglaucoma topical therapy causes exacerbation or occurrence of symptoms of dry eye due to main ingredients or preservatives (benzalkonium chloride - BAK), which are dose- and time-dependent. BAK reduces the stability of the lipid layer of tears, the number of goblet cells, induces apoptosis and inflammatory infiltration. Objective. The aim of this study was the analysis of the OSD incidence in open-angle glaucoma patients caused by topical medicamentous therapy. Methods. Retrospective analysis of examined patients with open-angle glaucoma was used. Results. Increased incidence of moderate and advanced OSD Index degrees in the group of primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) and pseudoexfoliative glaucoma. According to the Delphi Panel Scale the most common grade is IIb (POAG and pseudoexfoliative glaucoma). Evaporative form of OSD prevailed in all treatment groups. High percentage of dry eye in patients with higher concentrations of preservatives applied was noticed. Conclusion. OSD should be timely diagnosed and treated. Dry eye has an impact on surgical outcome and postoperative visual acuity, and in order to improve patient compliance and quality of life, symptoms of dry eye should be addressed and medications with lower concentrations of preservatives should be applied.

Introduction. Combining two medications in one bottle may improve compliance by reducing the time required to administer drops and the frequency of the total number of medication bottles. Objective. To compare the efficacy of reduced intraocular pressure (IOP) and safety of fixed combination travoprost 0.004%/timolol 0.5% vs. fixed combination dorzolamide 2%/timolol 0.5% in patients with primary open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. Methods. Prospective randomized clinical study included 60 patients divided into 2 groups. Follow-up was done at day 14 and 45 and month 3. Introduction. Carotid endarterectomy is a safe and reliable surgical procedure to treat the narrowing of the internal carotid artery greater than 70%. One of the most serious complications of surgical wound after endarterectomy is an infection caused by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) which is accompanied with high morbidity and mortality. Case Outline. A 62-year-old woman developed a graft infection caused by MRSA after a carotid endarterectomy with synthetic graft placement. Two years after unsuccessful antibiotic and local wound treatment, we replaced the infected graft by an autologous saphenous vein conduit. Conclusion. The case suggests that only by aggressive surgical approach with replacement of infected graft a successful outcome can be achieved in such a rare but potentially fatal post-operative complication.

INTRODUCTION Inflammatory abdominal aortic aneurysm accounts for 5% to 10% of all cases of abdominal aortic aneurysm and differs from typical atherosclerotic abdominal aortic aneurysm in many important ways. Although both inflammatory and atherosclerotic abdominal aortic aneurysms most commonly affect the infrarenal portion of the abdominal aorta, patients with the inflammatory variant are younger and usually symptomatic, chiefly from back or abdominal pain. Unlike patients with atherosclerotic abdominal aortic aneurysm, most with the inflammatory variant have an elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate or abnormalities of other serum inflammatory markers. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging are both sensitive for demonstrating the cuff of soft tissue inflammation surrounding the aneurysm that is characteristic of inflammatory abdominal aortic aneurysm. Inflammatory abdominal aortic aneurysm can be primarily infected by degenaration of an infected artery (in less than 1% of cases), or can become secondary infected in the already existing aneurysm. Secondary infection of the pre-existing aneurysm has big influence on treatment choice, but is also rare. Clinically non-symptomatic infection, also known as bacterial collonisation, can be very frequent, regarding a greatly increased number of positive intraoperative findings (10-15%). Prolonged intravascular catheterization, vascular grafting, repeated punctures with large bore needles, and decreased immune defense mechanism make uraemic patients undergoing hemodialysis more likely to develop Staphylococcus aureus bacteraemia and its complications. CASE OUTLINE The case shows a gigantic inflammatory aneurysm of the abdominal aorta, localized infrarenally, which was solved successfully by resection of the aneurysm of the abdominal aorta, and interposition of Dacron tubular graft 22 mm. Bacterial examination of the aneurysmal sac was positive: methicillin-resistent Staphylococcus aureus was detected. CONCLUSION There were no postoperative complications, and the final outcome was fully satisfactory. Control CT scans after 3, 6 and 12 months were regular, with signs of regression fibrosis of the retroperitoneum.

Since antiquity, there has been a mystery about the cerebral circulation function. Scientific methods were introduced in research at the end of the nineteenth century. During the first half of the last century, the problem of occlusive carotid disease was defined and the basis for the surgical treatment of carotid disease was established. The first contemporary reconstructive surgical procedures were performed in the middle of the last century, the time when successful surgical treatment of carotid disease began. Today, carotid endarterectomy is one the most frequently performed vascular surgical procedures of all, followed by very low morbidity and mortality rates.

A recent market liberalisation of commercial passenger rail services since 2020 has brought a new era for long-distance transport in the EU. However, drawing from the experiences of countries with unsuccessful entry attempts, we investigate the effects of asymmetric train access charges (TAC). Asymmetric access regulation is based on lower access charges for entrants than for incumbents for a limited period in order to induce convergence of railway undertakings' (RU) market shares. Intending to compare the effects of symmetric and asymmetric TAC, we model oligopoly competition in the number of offered seats between the incumbent (Inoui) and entrant (Trenitalia) on the Paris–Lyon line, the first case of asymmetric TAC regulation on railways. In the first year of competition, consumer surplus, entrant's profit, and total welfare without infrastructure manager's profit increased with asymmetric TAC compared to symmetric TAC without discounts. As the discount for entrant diminishes over time, all previous welfare elements monotonically decline. By introducing new departures and running double trainsets, the entrant can reverse this monotonically declining trend. This implies that asymmetric TAC should provide additional incentives for entrants to increase their frequency and number of offered seats. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Moreover, in their papers the joint LIGO & VIRGO team presented an upper limit on graviton mass such as mg < 1.2 × 10−22 eV (Abbott et al. 2016). So, the authors concluded that their observational data do not show any violation of classical general relativity. We show that an analysis of bright star trajectories could constrain graviton mass with a comparable accuracy with accuracies reached with gravitational wave interferometers and the estimate is consistent with the one obtained by the LIGO & VIRGO collaboration. This analysis gives an opportunity to treat observations of bright stars near the Galactic Center as a useful tool to obtain constraints on the fundamental gravity law such as modifications of the Newton gravity law in a weak field approximation. In that way, based on a potential reconstruction at the Galactic Center we obtain bounds on a graviton mass.

Very recently LIGO collaboration discovered gravitational waves [1] predicted 100 years ago by A. Einstein. In the papers reporting about this discovery, the joint LIGO & VIRGO team presented an upper limit on graviton mass such as mg < 1.2 × 10−22eV [1, 2]. The authors concluded that their observational data do not show violations of classical general relativity because the graviton mass limit is very small. We show that an analysis of bright star trajectories could bound graviton mass with a comparable accuracy with accuracies reached with gravitational wave interferometers and expected with forthcoming pulsar timing observations for gravitational wave detection. This analysis gives an opportunity to treat observations of bright stars near the Galactic Center as a tool for an evaluation specific parameters of the black hole and also to obtain constraints on the fundamental gravity law such as a modifications of Newton gravity law in a weak field approximation. In that way, based on a potential reconstruction at the Galactic Center we give a bounds on a graviton mass.

Climate change threatens urban health, whether that refers to the human or environmental aspects of urban life. At the same time, initiatives of city regeneration envision alternative forms of the urban environment, where derelict spaces have the potential to be brought back to life in ways that would not compromise urban health. Regeneration processes should utilise mitigation and adaptation strategies that consider the future needs and anticipated role of cities within the context of the discourse about climate change, accounting for expected and unforeseen impacts and regarding the city as an agent of action rather than a static territory, too complex to change. Nevertheless, literature implicating these three parameters synchronously, namely, climate change, cities, and health, has been scarce. This study aims to fill this gap through a systematic literature review, exploring climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies that can be employed in urban regeneration efforts seeking to mitigate climate-exacerbated phenomena and their impacts on urban health as well as identifying the main trends and opportunities overlooked. Findings show that even though the emphasis is given to the physical actions and impacts of climate change and urban health, an emerging theme is a need to engage civic society in co-designing urban spaces. Synergistic relationships, collaborations and avoidance of lock-in situations appear to be the most significant subtopics emerging from this literature review. One main recommendation is the promotion of a community-driven, inclusive, participatory approach in regeneration projects. That will ensure that different vulnerabilities can be adequately addressed and that diverse population groups will have equitable health benefits. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
