The failures, unexpected and catastrophic, are presented in large mechanical systems, specifically, in the electric power generation. The development of new methodologies of analysis and research to evaluate and calculate useful life must be proposed. In this work, an analytical-experimental novel methodology was developed using laws of similarity and models at the scale of prototypes, parts or mechanical components of any system. The methodology developed in the dynamic study of steam turbine blades was applied to calculate their stresses, deformations and the prediction of their useful life in mechanical fatigue conditions. The analytic-experimental and numerical results showed a relative error of less than 3,16% for both models. The new methodology was validated with these results. The use of scale models with the application of similarity laws will be of help in the analysis of failures where due to the size or high costs, real systems cannot be analyzed. In this paper, a modified U-shaped micro-actuator with a compliant mechanism is proposed. It was analyzed with a uniform and modified thin arm, as well as a similar variation in the corresponding flexure, in order to observe the impact of the compliant lumped mechanism. The use of these compliant mechanisms implies an increment in the deformation and a reduction in the equivalent stress of 25% and 52.25%, respectively. This characterization was developed using the Finite Element Method (FEM) in ANSYS Workbench. The design, analysis and simulation were developed with Polysilicon. In this study, the following performance parameters were also analyzed: force and temperature distribution. This device is supplied with voltage from 0 V up to 3 V, at room temperature. The modified U-shaped actuator was applied in both arms of a microgripper, and to evaluate its electrothermal performance, a static structural analysis has been carried out in Ansys Workbench. The microgripper has an increment in deformation of 22.33%, an equivalent stress reduction of 50%, and a decrease in operation frequency of 10.8%. The force between its jaws is of 367 &micro, N. This low level of force could be useful when sensitive particles are manipulated.

Los materiales compuestos laminados, utilizados comunmente en la industria automotriz y aeroespacial, presentan esfuerzos interlaminares e intralaminares en las capas que los constituyen cuando son sometidos a cargas externas. Estos esfuerzos son maximos en los bordes laterales causando separacion de las capas en los compuestos laminados. En este trabajo, el desarrollo de un modelo analitico con el que se evaluaron experimentalmente materiales compuestos laminados cargados axialmente es presentado. Mediante la obtencion de las deformaciones en las fronteras de forma experimental, se pueden determinan los valores de los esfuerzos intralaminares. El modelo esta integrado por: a) Un modelo constitutivo laminado y b) Modelos constitutivos para cada capa. Para su evaluacion, se obtuvieron experimentalmente las deformaciones en las fronteras y los esfuerzos intralaminares, en probetas con capas metalicas y probetas con capas ortotropicas, ambas sometidas a cargas axiales. Se instrumentaron con galgas extensometricas algunos puntos especificos localizados en las fronteras de los compuestos y se realizaron pruebas a tension simple. Los resultados obtenidos muestran que el modelo obtenido es confiable y representativo, y se pueden determinar los esfuerzos intralaminares y globales. Resumen Los álabes de turbinas de vapor son componentes críticos en plantas generadoras, por ello en este trabajo se desarrolló un algoritmo genético con la capacidad de optimizar aerodinámicamente su diseño. Los parámetros de optimización utilizados fueron el espesor t, la longitud de cuerda c y la curvatura ϑ del perfil aerodinámico, aplicando como función objetivo maximizar la eficiencia del álabe. Para llevar a cabo esto se obtuvieron y se modificaron las coordenadas de puntos que definen las líneas de presión, succión y de curvatura media de perfiles a planos de 550, 660, 770, 880, 990 y 1100mm con respecto al eje del rotor. Los resultados se validaron usando el programa ANSYS Fluent en 2D obteniendo las eficiencias aerodinámicas a distintos ángulos de ataque. Se utilizó una velocidad de entrada de vapor a 200 m/s con densidad y viscosidad constantes de 0.5542 kg/m3 y 1.34e-05 kg/ms respectivamente. Se evaluaron las direcciones de entrada del fluido a diferentes ángulos de ataque con respecto a la dirección de la línea de curvatura media de los perfiles generados. Los resultados obtenidos demostraron una mayor eficiencia aerodinámica con respecto a los perfiles original. Posteriormente se ensamblo a partir de los perfiles obtenidos por el algoritmo desarrollado un nuevo álabe. El nuevo álabe en condiciones de carga centrífuga y de fatiga presentó mejoras con respecto al original. Presentando mejor distribución de esfuerzos y una vida útil superior al del álabe original. Abstract Steam turbine blades are critical components in generating plants, for this reason in this work a genetic algorithm was developed with the ability to aerodynamically optimize their design. The optimization parameters used were the thickness t, the chord length c and the curvature ϑ of the aerodynamic profile, applying as objective function to maximize the efficiency of the blade. To carry out this, the coordinates of the points that define the pressure, suction and mean curvature lines of the profiles were obtained and modified to planes of 550, 660, 770, 880, 990 and 1100mm with respect to the rotor axis. The results were validated using the ANSYS Fluent 2D program, obtaining the aerodynamic efficiencies at different angles of attack. A steam inlet velocity was used at 200 m / s with constant density and viscosity of 0.5542 kg/m3 and 1.34e-05 kg/ms respectively. The fluid inlet directions at different angles of attack were evaluated with respect to the direction of the mean curvature line of the generated profiles. The results obtained demonstrated a greater aerodynamic efficiency with respect to the original profiles. Subsequently, a new blade was assembled from the profiles obtained by the algorithm developed. The new blade under centrifugal load and fatigue conditions presented improvements over the original. Presenting better distribution of efforts and a useful life superior to that of the original blade.

En este trabajo se propuso una arquitectura particular para la fabricación de barras anti desgaste. Para ello se propuso una barra con inclusiones elipsoidales huecas con una inclinación dada dentro de la matriz, dicha matriz además posee un recubrimiento de material carbonizado. El recubrimiento elegido para el diseño de la barra antidesgaste es 20%CNT80%DLC el cual aumenta la vida a la fatiga 89% en comparación con el AISI 410 para la condición de impacto de una gota. La barra diseñada está formada por una matriz de STELLITE con inclusiones huecas orientadas a 90°y con un recubrimiento de 20%CNT-80%DLC. La barra tiene una vida a la fatiga de 1.436E+08 ciclos. Por lo que la barra diseñada aumenta la vida del alabe 1.4E+08 ciclos en comparación de las barras comerciales de Stellite. In this work, a particular architecture was proposed for the manufacture of antiwear bars. A bar with hollow ellipsoidal inclusions with a given inclination within the matrix was proposed, said matrix also has a coating of carbonized material. The coating chosen for the design of anti-wear bar is 20% CNT-80% DLC which increases the life to fatigue 89% compared to the AISI 410 for the impact condition of a drop. The designed bar is formed by a STELLITE matrix with hollow inclusions oriented at 90 ° and with a coating of 20% CNT-80% DLC. The bar has a life to fatigue of 1.436E + 08 cycles. So the designed bar increases the life of the blade 1.4E + 08 cycles compared to the commercial bars of Stellite
