El presente trabajo examina las competencias informacionales de los estudiantes de la Escuela de Bibliotecología de la Universidad Central de Venezuela. Para ello se aplicó un cuestionario de 25 presuntas abiertas, cerradas y mixtas a 213 estudiantes cursantes de la asignatura obligatoria Seminario de tesis dictada durante los periodos lectivos 2014-2, 2015-1 Y 2015-2 como parte de una evaluación diagnóstico que buscó establecer el conocimiento y las habilidades que deben poseer para iniciar una investigación bibliotecológica. Se utilizaron cuatro parámetros para medir el reconocimiento de la necesidad de conseguir información, localizar información y acceder a ella, establecer estrategias para localizar la información, distinguir entre distintas formas de cubrir la necesidad, comparar y evaluar la información, organizar, aplicar y comunicar la información. Las competencias informacionales de los estudiantes de la Escuela de Bibliotecología hacia la investigación puede ser valorada como moderada o mediana que requiere de estrategias de enseñanza aprendizaje para desarrollar aptitudes para localizar la información, comparar y evaluar la información, organizar, aplicar y comunicar la información de manera ética.Palabras claves: Competencias informacionales; Estudiantes de Bibliotecología; Escuela de Bibliotecología; Universidad Central de Venezuela. O presente estudo centra-se na análise da comunicação não-verbal dos instrutores de fitness com recurso à metodologia observacional e objetiva a análise das configurações e padrões temporais (T-patterns) de comportamento cinésico e proxémico de instrutores com diferentes níveis de experiência profissional. Participaram neste estudo 12 instrutores de fitness divididos em dois grupos em função da sua experiência profissional: grupo de instrutores experientes (n = 6); grupo de instrutores estagiários (n = 6). As sessões de exercício foram filmadas e os comportamentos cinésicos e proxémicos dos instrutores codificados com recurso ao Sistema de Observação da Comunicação Cinésica - Fitness (SOCIN-Fitness) e ao Sistema de Observação da Comunicação Proxémica - Fitness (SOPROX-Fitness). Os resultados obtidos revelaram a existência de padrões temporais de comportamento cinésico e proxémico, próprios de cada grupo de instrutores. Foi possível verificar que os instrutores experientes apresentam um comportamento cinésico e proxémico mais consistente e complexo do que os estagiários, caraterizado pela regulação do comportamento dos praticantes, através do acompanhamento na realização dos exercícios a partir da posição correspondente, e da intercalação de comportamentos de informação e de feedback, com recurso à utilização de uma morfologia de gestos mais diversificadas.

AbstractObjective: To evaluate the changes in lung function in the first year after single lung transplantation in patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF).Methods: We retrospectively evaluated patients with IPF who underwent single lung transplantation between January of 2006 and December of 2012, reviewing the changes in the lung function occurring during the first year after the procedure.Results: Of the 218 patients undergoing lung transplantation during the study period, 79 (36.2%) had IPF. Of those 79 patients, 24 (30%) died, and 11 (14%) did not undergo spirometry at the end of the first year. Of the 44 patients included in the study, 29 (66%) were men. The mean age of the patients was 57 years. Before transplantation, mean FVC, FEV1, and FEV1/FVC ratio were 1.78 L (50% of predicted), 1.48 L (52% of predicted), and 83%, respectively. In the first month after transplantation, there was a mean increase of 12% in FVC (400 mL) and FEV1 (350 mL). In the third month after transplantation, there were additional increases, of 5% (170 mL) in FVC and 1% (50 mL) in FEV1. At the end of the first year, the functional improvement persisted, with a mean gain of 19% (620 mL) in FVC and 16% (430 mL) in FEV1.Conclusions: Single lung transplantation in IPF patients who survive for at least one year provides significant and progressive benefits in lung function during the first year. This procedure is an important therapeutic alternative in the management of IPF.

The present study aimed to detect T-patterns of instruction behavior in youth coaches in the direction of team in competition. The research took into account the observational methodology for the acquisition of the data, which was then analyzed using the program THEME 5.0. Eight football matches of 4 coaches who compete in the junior “A” and junior “B” levels teams competing in the Portuguese national championships were recorded and their instruction behaviors were coded through the observational system SAIC. The results revealed the existence of temporal patterns of instruction behavior, both in the overall and individual analysis of coaches. The detected T-patterns showed that the coaches tend to prescribe tactical and psychological solutions directed to the athlete, using the verbal communication, as well as positively evaluate their execution and behavior. During the substitutions coaches provide indications with tactical and psychological content to the substitute, praises the performance of the player who left the pitch and give information to the team.

OBJETIVO: Relatar os casos de 6 pacientes com bola fúngica (BF) na cavidade pleural por Aspergillus fumigatus. MÉTODOS: Entre 1980 e 2009, foram diagnosticados 391 pacientes com BF aspergilar no Complexo Hospitalar Santa Casa de Porto Alegre (RS). O diagnóstico de BF na cavidade pleural foi definido com exames de imagem demonstrando derrame e espessamento pleural com nível líquido; exame micológico direto demonstrando hifas septadas, consistentes com Aspergillus sp.; e cultura positiva para A. fumigatus no espécime cirúrgico da cavidade pleural. RESULTADOS: Dos 391 pacientes estudados, 6 (2%) preencheram os critérios diagnósticos estabelecidos. A média de idade desses 6 pacientes foi de 48 anos (variação, 29-66 anos), e 5 (83%) eram do sexo masculino. As queixas mais frequentes dos pacientes foram tosse, expectoração e hemoptise. Quatro (67%) dos pacientes tinham tuberculose curada. Todos os pacientes realizaram remoção cirúrgica da colonização fúngica, e houve infusão intrapleural com anfotericina B em 4; e 2 pacientes receberam tratamento antifúngico sistêmico v.o. Cinco pacientes melhoraram clinicamente, e um foi a óbito após a cirurgia. CONCLUSÕES: Em pacientes adultos com história de doença pulmonar cavitária ou fístula pleural, deve-se realizar uma investigação criteriosa levando em consideração a infecção fúngica, principalmente BF pulmonar. Portanto, a exploração laboratorial torna-se mais eficiente em relação aos recursos disponíveis para elucidação diagnóstica.OBJECTIVE: To report the cases of 6 patients with fungus ball caused by Aspergillus fumigatus (aspergilloma) in the pleural cavity. METHODS: Between 1980 and 2009, 391 patients were diagnosed with aspergilloma at the Santa Casa Hospital Complex in Porto Alegre, Brazil. The diagnosis of aspergilloma in the pleural cavity was made through imaging tests revealing effusion and pleural thickening with air-fluid level; direct mycological examination revealing septate hyphae, consistent with Aspergillus sp.; and positive culture for A. fumigatus in the surgical specimen from the pleural cavity. RESULTS: Of the 391 patients studied, 6 (2%) met the established diagnostic criteria. The mean age of those 6 patients was 48 years (range, 29-66 years), and 5 (83%) were male. The most common complaints were cough, expectoration, and hemoptysis. Four patients (67%) had a history of tuberculosis that had been clinically cured. All of the patients were submitted to surgical removal of the aspergilloma, followed by intrapleural instillation of amphotericin B, in 4; and 2 received systemic antifungal treatment p.o. There was clinical improvement in 5 patients, and 1 died after the surgery. CONCLUSIONS: In adult patients with a history of cavitary lung disease or pleural fistula, a careful investigation should be carried out and fungal infection, especially aspergilloma, should be taken into consideration. In such cases, laboratory testing represents the most efficient use of the resources available to elucidate the diagnosis.

A morte encefálica induz várias alterações fisiopatológicas que podem causar lesões em rins, pulmões, coração e fígado. Portanto, a atuação do intensivista durante a manutenção do potencial doador falecido exige cuidados específicos com estes órgãos visando sua maior viabilidade para transplantes. O manejo hemodinâmico cuidadoso, os cuidados ventilatórios e de higiene brônquica minimizam a perda de rins e pulmões para o transplante. A avaliação da condição morfológica e funcional do coração auxilia na avaliação do potencial transplantável deste órgão. Por fim, a avaliação da função hepática, assim como o controle metabólico e a realização de sorologias virais são fundamentais para a orientação das equipes transplantadoras na seleção do órgão a ser doado e no cuidado com o receptor.

Radar Absorbing Materials (RAM) are compounds that absorb incidental electromagnetic radiation in tuned frequencies and dissipate it as heat. Its preparation involves the adequate processing of polymeric matrices filled with compounds that act as radar absorbing centers in the microwave range. This work shows the electromagnetic evaluation of RAM based on CoTi and La doped Ca hexaferrite. Vibrating Sample Magnetization analyses show that ion substitution promoted low values for the parameters of saturation magnetization (123.65 Am2/kg) and coercive field (0.07 T) indicating ferrite softening. RAM samples obtained using different hexaferrite concentrations (40-80 per cent, w/w) show variations in complex permeability and permittivity parameters and also in the performance of incidental radiation attenuation. Microwave attenuation values between 40 and 98 per cent were obtained.

Due to the increasing number and improved survival of lung transplant recipients, radiologists should be aware of the imaging features of the postoperative complications that can occur in such patients. The early treatment of complications is important for the long-term survival of lung transplant recipients. Frequently, HRCT plays a central role in the investigation of such complications. Early recognition of the signs of complications allows treatment to be initiated earlier, which improves survival. The aim of this pictorial review was to demonstrate the CT scan appearance of pulmonary complications such as reperfusion edema, acute rejection, infection, pulmonary thromboembolism, chronic rejection, bronchiolitis obliterans syndrome, cryptogenic organizing pneumonia, post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorder, bronchial dehiscence and bronchial stenosis.Com o número cada vez maior e uma melhor sobrevida dos pacientes submetidos ao transplante pulmonar, os radiologistas devem estar cientes das diversas possibilidades de complicações associadas ao transplante de pulmão. O tratamento precoce das complicações é importante para a sobrevida a longo prazo dos receptores de transplante pulmonar. Com frequência, a TCAR desempenha um papel central na investigação de tais complicações. O reconhecimento precoce dos sinais de complicações proporciona um tratamento rápido e melhora a sobrevida. O objetivo desta revisão pictórica foi proporcionar uma visão sobre as complicações mais prevalentes na TC, tais como edema de reperfusão, rejeição aguda, infecção, tromboembolismo pulmonar, rejeição crônica, síndrome da bronquiolite obliterante, pneumonia em organização criptogênica, doença linfoproliferativa pós-transplante, deiscência brônquica e estenose brônquica.

Using the technique of capture, mark and recapture, here is reported a case of high longevity in the Madeiran lizard, Teira dugesii. It is one of the highest reported values for lacertid lizards (16 years or more) in a wild population.
