El propósito del presente artículo es dar a conocer el desarrollo y los resultados de un taller realizado vía remota dedicado a ampliar los conocimientos matemáticos sobre los números decimales. El objeto de estudio e intervención fueron ocho estudiantes de segundo semestre de una escuela Normal Rural del Estado de Zacatecas, en México. Debido a la llegada intempestiva del Sars-Cov2 en 2020, la preparación de actividades presenciales se adaptó para realizarse a distancia. Se inició con la aplicación de un diagnóstico para definir los contenidos adecuados. Se utilizó la plataforma Meet, los formularios de Google, las pizarras electrónicas y los teléfonos inteligentes como principales recursos para la acción. Los resultados muestran que los participantes avanzaron en sus conocimientos y su comprensión de los números decimales, así como en su capacidad de argumentación. La interacción y construcción social de los conocimientos fueron posibles a pesar del distanciamiento físico gracias a la permanente solicitud de comparar y justificar las respuestas de los distintos estudiantes utilizando los medios disponibles.

El presente artículo establece la relación de influencia entre la motivación y satisfacción de los visitantes del desierto de la Tatacoa en la región Surcolombiana. La investigación fue de corte cuantitativa, con un abordaje desde el método deductivo y de tipo descriptiva. Así, se elaboró una encuesta con preguntas tipo Likert compuesta por nueve dimensiones para motivación y seis dimensiones para satisfacción. La confiabilidad del modelo se midió con el alfa de Cronbach y la validez con el Análisis Factorial Confirmatorio, los dos obtuvieron niveles aceptables. La evaluación del modelo hipotetizado se realizó mediante ecuaciones estructurales. El modelo obtenido evidenció una relación positiva y significativa entre motivación y satisfacción (0.751; p < 0.00) denotando que, a mayor nivel de motivación, mayor será el nivel de satisfacción de los turistas, nacionales y extranjeros. De otra parte, sobresalen las correlaciones en las dimensiones de motivación de Descanso (D) (0,848; p < 0,00), Conocimiento (C) (0,786; p < 0,00), Acceso e Infraestructura (A-I) (0,829; p < 0,00) y Atractivos locales (A) (0,787; p < 0,00), mientras para la satisfacción fueron Economía (Ec) (0,811; p < 0,00) e Infraestructura (In) (0,797; p < 0,00).

Abstract The diversity of chemical and structural attributes of proteins makes it inherently difficult to produce a wide range of proteins in a single recombinant protein production system. The nature of the target proteins themselves, along with cost, ease of use, and speed, are typically cited as major factors to consider in production. Despite a wide variety of alternative expression systems, most recombinant proteins for research and therapeutics are produced in a limited number of systems: Escherichia coli, yeast, insect cells, and the mammalian cell lines HEK293 and CHO. Recent interest in Vibrio natriegens as a new bacterial recombinant protein expression host is due in part to its short doubling time of ≤ 10 min but also stems from the promise of compatibility with techniques and genetic systems developed for E. coli. We successfully incorporated V. natriegens as an additional bacterial expression system for recombinant protein production and report improvements to published protocols as well as new protocols that expand the versatility of the system. While not all proteins benefit from production in V. natriegens, we successfully produced several proteins that were difficult or impossible to produce in E. coli. We also show that in some cases, the increased yield is due to higher levels of properly folded protein. Additionally, we were able to adapt our enhanced isotope incorporation methods for use with V. natriegens. Taken together, these observations and improvements allowed production of proteins for structural biology, biochemistry, assay development, and structure-based drug design in V. natriegens that were impossible and/or unaffordable to produce in E. coli.

Global demand for sustainable agri-food products creates opportunities for smallholder farmers. But on-farm verification of sustainable practices is costly, making third-party certification inaccessible to many poor farmers. Digital technologies for tracing agri-food products from farm to fork could help: novel traceability systems, based on blockchain technology, can make data about on-farm practices transparently available to downstream stakeholders, enabling them to verify sustainability claims without external audits. There is limited understanding, however, of how such digital tracing systems fit local needs and capacities in smallholder contexts. Through a grounded theory approach, we explore the potential of digital traceability for sustainability monitoring in a case study in the Ucayali region of Peru. Based on interviews with local cocoa sector stakeholders, we identify two major challenges: first, setting up digital traceability systems requires investments that do not seem justified by corresponding increases in income. And second, relying on farmer-supplied data creates the risk of inaccurate information due to insufficient capacity as well as incentives for providing distorted data. Our findings suggest that strong cooperation along the supply chain is needed to ensure adequate return on farmer-side costs and investments. Focusing on sustainability metrics at the community level, in addition to the farm level, may be promising, as these metrics can be reliably collected by external stakeholders and add value beyond existing third-party certification standards. Our case study provides recommendations for local policy makers and supply chain stakeholders to develop inclusive digital sustainability tracing systems with smallholder farmers.

Current clinical guidelines support the concomitant administration of seasonal influenza vaccines and COVID-19 mRNA boosters vaccine. Whether dual vaccination may impact vaccine immunogenicity due to an interference between influenza or SARS-CoV-2 antigens is unknown. We aimed to understand the impact of mRNA COVID-19 vaccines administered concomitantly on the immune response to influenza vaccines. For this, 128 volunteers were vaccinated during the 22-23 influenza season. Three groups of vaccination were assembled: FLU vaccine only (46, 35%) versus volunteers that received the mRNA bivalent COVID-19 vaccines concomitantly to seasonal influenza vaccines, FluCOVID vaccine in the same arm (42, 33%) or different arm (40, 31%), respectively. Sera and whole blood were obtained the day of vaccination, +7, and +28 days after for antibody and T cells response quantification. As expected, side effects were increased in individuals who received the FluCOVID vaccine as compared to FLU vaccine only based on the known reactogenicity of mRNA vaccines. In general, antibody levels were high at 4 weeks post-vaccination and differences were found only for the H3N2 virus when administered in different arms compared to the other groups at day 28 post-vaccination. Additionally, our data showed that subjects that received the FluCOVID vaccine in different arm tended to have better antibody induction than those receiving FLU vaccines for H3N2 virus in the absence of pre-existing immunity. Furthermore, no notable differences in the influenza-specific cellular immune response were found for any of the vaccination groups. Our data supports the concomitant administration of seasonal influenza and mRNA COVID-19 vaccines.

PURPOSETo develop and implement a continuing professional development (CPD) activity focused on geriatric assessment (GA) in oncology for oncologists and geriatricians. We evaluated the impact of this activity on knowledge, skills, and performance regarding GA in oncology, as well as its feasibility and acceptability.METHODSWe included teams composed of an oncologist and a geriatrician working in Mexico. Curriculum content was selected from geriatric oncology guidelines. We used Project Extension for Community Healthcare Outcome (ECHO)'s model to create a 12-week online course. A one-group pretest post-test quasi-experimental design was used to evaluate the intervention's effectiveness. At baseline, participants answered a multiple-choice knowledge assessment, a survey on self-perceived competence in GA, and an adaptation of the Association for Community Cancer Centers Geriatric Oncology Gap Assessment Tool, evaluating self-perceived performance in conducting geriatric interventions. These assessments and a satisfaction questionnaire were also completed postintervention. Baseline and postintervention scores were compared using paired t-tests.RESULTSWe included 40 participants (20 oncologists and 20 geriatricians). Median attendance was 10 sessions (range 2-12). Thirty-eight participants completed the satisfaction questionnaire, with a median score of 10/10 (range 8-10). The mean baseline and postintervention knowledge scores were 59.5 ± 12.8 and 74.4 ± 9.7, respectively (P < .001, effect size 1.14). The mean baseline and postintervention competence scores were 6.42 ± 2.5 and 9.02 ± 0.8, respectively (P < .001, effect size 1.03). The mean baseline and postintervention performance scores were 2.58 ± 0.65 and 3.29 ± 0.5, respectively (P < .001, effect size 1.64).CONCLUSIONA CPD activity for oncologists and geriatricians on the basis of the Project ECHO model was feasible and acceptable, leading to increased knowledge, competence, and performance in geriatric oncology. This could represent a novel method for increasing the geriatric competence of the cancer care workforce in Latin America and globally.

We demonstrate analytically, numerically, and experimentally that a 2D supercrystal (SC)—an elastic structure of solid rods with two distinct spatial periods embedded in a viscous fluid—exhibits very high acoustic absorption. Smaller diameter rods arranged in a 2D lattice with a smaller period serve as an effective medium with high viscosity for a set of larger rods arranged in a lattice of much larger period. The enhancement of acoustic absorption is due to strong viscous friction within a narrow layer with high gradients of velocity formed around each scatterer. The SC as a whole is considered in the homogenization limit of frequencies where it behaves as a metafluid with an effective speed of sound and effective viscosity. Analytical results for the effective parameters are calculated for any Bravais lattices and arbitrary cross-sections of the rods. Experimental measurements of acoustic absorption in a supercrystal with hexagonal lattices for both types of rods are in a good agreement with analytical and numerical results.

This case report presents a comprehensive assessment and therapeutic intervention using non-invasive motor cortex neuromodulation for a 70-year-old female patient diagnosed with corticobasal degeneration (CBD). The study followed the CARE guidelines. The patient meets the criteria for probable CBD, with neuroimaging evidence of exclusively cortical impairment. The patient underwent a non-invasive neuromodulation protocol involving transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) and action observation plus motor imagery (AO+MI). The neuromodulation protocol comprised 20 sessions involving tDCS over the primary motor cortex and combined AO+MI. Anodal tDCS was delivered a 2 mA excitatory current for 20 minutes. AO+MI focused on lower limb movements, progressing over four weeks with video observation and gradual execution, both weekly and monthly. The neuromodulation techniques were delivered online (i.e. applied simultaneously in each session). Outcome measures were obtained at baseline, post-intervention and follow-up (1 month later), and included motor (lower limb), cognitive/neuropsychological and functional assessments. Walking speed improvements were not observed, but balance (Berg Balance Scale) and functional strength (Five Times Sit-to-Stand Test) improved post-treatment. Long-term enhancements in attentional set-shifting, inhibitory control, verbal attentional span, and working memory were found. There was neurophysiological evidence of diminished intracortical inhibition. Functional changes included worsening in Cortico Basal Ganglia Functional Scale score. Emotional well-being and general health (SF-36) increased immediately after treatment but were not sustained, while Falls Efficacy Scale International showed only long-term improvement. The findings suggest potential benefits of the presented neuromodulation protocol for CBD patients, highlighting multifaceted outcomes in motor, cognitive, and functional domains.

Abstract Background Healthy lifestyles are inversely associated with the risk of noncommunicable diseases, which are leading causes of death. However, few studies have used longitudinal data to assess the impact of changing lifestyle behaviours on all-cause and cancer mortality. Methods Within the European Prospective Investigation into Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC) cohort, lifestyle profiles of 308,497 cancer-free adults (71% female) aged 35–70 years at recruitment across nine countries were assessed with baseline and follow-up questionnaires administered on average of 7 years apart. A healthy lifestyle index (HLI), assessed at two time points, combined information on smoking status, alcohol intake, body mass index, and physical activity, and ranged from 0 to 16 units. A change score was calculated as the difference between HLI at baseline and follow-up. Associations between HLI change and all-cause and cancer mortality were modelled with Cox regression, and the impact of changing HLI on accelerating mortality rate was estimated by rate advancement periods (RAP, in years). Results After the follow-up questionnaire, participants were followed for an average of 9.9 years, with 21,696 deaths (8407 cancer deaths) documented. Compared to participants whose HLIs remained stable (within one unit), improving HLI by more than one unit was inversely associated with all-cause and cancer mortality (hazard ratio [HR]: 0.84; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 0.81, 0.88; and HR: 0.87; 95% CI: 0.82, 0.92; respectively), while worsening HLI by more than one unit was associated with an increase in mortality (all-cause mortality HR: 1.26; 95% CI: 1.20, 1.33; cancer mortality HR: 1.19; 95% CI: 1.09, 1.29). Participants who worsened HLI by more than one advanced their risk of death by 1.62 (1.44, 1.96) years, while participants who improved HLI by the same amount delayed their risk of death by 1.19 (0.65, 2.32) years, compared to those with stable HLI. Conclusions Making healthier lifestyle changes during adulthood was inversely associated with all-cause and cancer mortality and delayed risk of death. Conversely, making unhealthier lifestyle changes was positively associated with mortality and an accelerated risk of death.

Abstract Rhabdomyosarcoma (RMS), such as other childhood tumors, has witnessed treatment advancements in recent years. However, high-risk patients continue to face poor survival rates, often attributed to the presence of the PAX3/7-FOXO1 fusion proteins, which has been associated with metastasis and treatment resistance. Despite efforts to directly target these chimeric proteins, clinical success remains elusive. In this study, the main aim was to address this challenge by investigating regulators of FOXO1. Specifically, we focused on TRIB3, a potential regulator of the fusion protein in RMS. Our findings revealed a prominent TRIB3 expression in RMS tumors, highlighting its correlation with the presence of fusion protein. By conducting TRIB3 genetic inhibition experiments, we observed an impairment on cell proliferation. Notably, the knockdown of TRIB3 led to a decrease in PAX3-FOXO1 and its target genes at protein level, accompanied by a reduction in the activity of the Akt signaling pathway. Additionally, inducible silencing of TRIB3 significantly delayed tumor growth and improved overall survival in vivo. Based on our analysis, we propose that TRIB3 holds therapeutic potential for treating the most aggressive subtype of RMS. The findings herein reported contribute to our understanding of the underlying molecular mechanisms driving RMS progression and provide novel insights into the potential use of TRIB3 as a therapeutic intervention for high-risk RMS patients.

Rift Valley fever (RVF) is an important zoonotic viral disease affecting several species of domestic and wild ruminants, causing major economic losses and dozens of human deaths in various geographical areas of Africa, where it is endemic. Although it is not present in Europe, there is a risk of its introduction and spread linked to globalisation and climate change. At present, the only measure that could help to prevent the disease is vaccination of flocks in areas at risk of RVF. Available live attenuated vaccines are an effective means of controlling the disease, but their use is often questioned due to residual virulence, particularly in susceptible hosts such as pregnant sheep. On the other hand, no vaccine is currently licensed for use in humans. The development of safe and effective vaccines is therefore a major area of research. In previous studies, we selected under selective mutagenic pressure a highly attenuated RVFV 56/74 virus variant called 40Fp8. This virus showed an extremely attenuated phenotype in both wild-type and immunodeficient A129 (IFNARKO) mice, yet was still able to induce protective immunity after a single inoculation, thus supporting its use as a safe, live attenuated vaccine. To further investigate its safety, in this work we have analysed the attenuation level of 40Fp8 in immunosuppressed mice (A129) when administered by the intranasal route, and compared it with other attenuated RVF viruses that are the basis of vaccines in use or in development. Our results show that 40Fp8 has a much higher attenuated level than these other viruses and confirm its potential as a candidate for safe RVF vaccine development.

[Objective] The main objective of this research was to evaluate the potential for saving drinking water by using rainwater as a source of supply for non-potable purposes in two neighborhoods with social housing in the municipality of Viçosa, Minas Gerais, Brazil. [Methodology] The consumption statistics for each month of 2020 were used for each of the homes comprising the Benjamin José Cardoso and Sol Nascente Housing Complexes, and the fraction of drinking water that is destined in homes for non-potable purposes was estimated. The information corresponding to the monthly rainfall records of the last 50 years was analyzed and the monthly volume of rainwater that could be harvested in each house was calculated. [Results] The average monthly volume of rainwater that could be captured through the roof area of each dwelling is 3.39 m3. During the rainy months of the year, it would be feasible to save a higher percentage of water than that allocated for non-potable purposes. Sizing a rainwater reservoir that exceeds the monthly needs for non-potable purposes would allow the surplus of collected water to supply the liquid during the dry season. [Conclusions] Since the average percentage of savings in drinking water for both neighborhoods exceeded 53%, the saving of the monthly consumption can contribute to the reduction of payments for the drinking water service and the consumption of the liquid in the municipality, particularly during drought months.

En las últimas décadas autores como Antonio Ortuño (2013), Julian Herbert (2015), Eduardo Antonio Parra (2019), Ricardo Raphael (2019), Luis Jorge Boone (2019) o Ximena Santaolalla (2022) han representado varios casos de la violencia extrema (Semelin: 2002) que ha padecido la ciudadanía mexicana a través de novelas y narrativas que exigen otra mirada de la crítica. En este sentido, la crítica literaria transcultural, emanada de las propuestas de Fernando Ortiz y Ángel Rama, sería una forma para, por una parte, analizar literatura que ha representado masacres y genocidios (Tomás Cámara: 2017) y, por otra, convertirse en una herramienta de reflexión y promoción de la participación ciudadana en el contexto de una sociedad extremadamente violenta. En este sentido se desarrollará y problematizarán los conceptos de sociedad extremadamente violenta (Gerlach: 2015), crítica transcultural (Rama: 2004; Palma: 2023) y ciudadanía (Mouffe: 2014; Navarro 2014; Heater: 2007; Molina Giraldo: 2014), así como la función del intelectual y el discurso de la violencia en la promoción u oposición del exterminio del otro (Bartov: 2002; Lindqvist; 2021). Más que proponer respuestas buscamos visibilizar las aristas y la complejidad de la relación literatura, crítica, ciudadanía y asesinato en masa, en última instancia, intentar recuperar la función social de la crítica.

Cutaneous melanoma, a lethal skin cancer, arises from malignant transformation of melanocytes. Solar ultraviolet radiation (UVR) is a major environmental risk factor for melanoma since its interaction with the skin generates DNA damage, either directly or indirectly via oxidative stress. Pheomelanin pigments exacerbate oxidative stress in melanocytes by UVR-dependent and independent mechanisms. Thus, oxidative stress is considered to contribute to melanomagenesis, particularly in people with pheomelanic pigmentation. The melanocortin 1 receptor gene (MC1R) is a major melanoma susceptibility gene. Frequent MC1R variants (varMC1R) associated with fair skin and red or yellow hair color display hypomorphic signaling to the cAMP pathway and are associated with higher melanoma risk. This association is thought to be due to production of photosensitizing pheomelanins as well as deficient induction of DNA damage repair downstream of varMC1R. However, the data on modulation of oxidative DNA damage repair by MC1R remain scarce. We recently demonstrated that varMC1R accelerates clearance of reactive oxygen species (ROS)-induced DNA strand breaks in an AKT-dependent manner. Here we show that varMC1R also protects against ROS-dependent formation of 8-oxodG, the most frequent oxidative DNA lesion. Since the base excision repair (BER) pathway mediates clearance of these DNA lesions, we analyzed induction of BER enzymes in human melanoma cells of varMC1R genotype. Agonist-mediated activation of both wildtype (wtMC1R) and varMC1R significantly induced OGG and APE-1/Ref1, the rate-limiting BER enzymes responsible for repair of 8-oxodG. Moreover, we found that NADPH oxidase (NOX)-dependent generation of ROS was responsible for AKT activation and oxidative DNA damage repair downstream of varMC1R. These observations provide a better understanding of the functional properties of melanoma-associated MC1R alleles and may be useful for the rational development of strategies to correct defective varMC1R responses for efficient photoprotection and melanoma prevention in fair-skinned individuals.

El trabajo consta de una introducción que justifica la propuesta de nuevos modelos de decretos por el cambio normativo procesal experimentado con la entrada en vigor del M. P. Mitis Iudex Dominus Iesus. Los modelos procesales que se proponen se refieren tanto al proceso ordinario como al proceso brevior; y aún se añaden otros para diferentes supuestos que pueden darse tanto en uno como en otro proceso.

AimsTo assess the diagnostic accuracy and time impact of the 4AT scale in emergency department triage.MethodsA Prospective diagnostic accuracy study was carried out. People aged ≥65 years presenting to the emergency department from 1 November 2021 to 30 June 2022 were included. Nurses opportunistically screened eligible patients using the 4AT scale during triage according to the Manchester Triage System Francesc de Borja Hospital emergency department, Gandía (Spain). Accuracy was compared with medical diagnosis of delirium. Time (seconds) spent in triage with and without screening was assessed.ResultsThe study included 370 patients (55.1% men, mean age 81.8 years), of whom 58.4% (n = 216) were screened. A final diagnosis of delirium was made in 41.4% of those screened. The most frequently used presentational flow charts and discriminators were ‘behaving strangely’ (15%) and ‘rapid onset’ (33.3%). The highest accuracy was obtained for a score of 3 points or more (sensitivity 85.1%; specificity 66.9%; positive predictive value 52.8%; negative predictive value 71.7%). No significant differences were found in the time spent in triage according to the performance of screening.ConclusionA score of 3 points or more on the 4AT scale enables rapid detection of delirium in emergency department triage, without consuming more time than conventional triage.

Los cambios frecuentes en la educación universitaria han sido trastocados estructuralmente por la incorporación de la inteligencia artificial (IA), mediante la utilización y aplicación por parte de los estudiantes y profesores en el proceso de enseñanza aprendizaje. El objetivo fue analizar e interpretar los resultados de la inteligencia artificial en la educación universitaria y valorar sus contribuciones en el periodo de 2019 a 2023. El método se aplicó la revisión sistemática y bibliométrica para responder a las preguntas específicas de la investigación, mediante métodos de búsqueda claros, sistemáticos y replicables; se accedió a un universo de 917 publicaciones indexadas en Scopus, WoS y PubMed y se seleccionó una muestra de 59 artículos científicos. Los resultados indican que la mayoría de las publicaciones se han realizado en la China, seguido de España y Estados Unidos, también se evidencia escasa colaboración entre investigadores, dispersión en las temáticas específicas y el aislamiento en redes pequeñas. En las universidades, se evidencia la aplicación de las herramientas de inteligencia artificial, en su uso correcto para el desarrollo del aprendizaje profundo con la activación de procesos cognitivos superiores en los estudiantes, quienes requieren de la orientación pedagógica de los docentes capacitados en esta temática.

BackgroundEstimating the global influenza burden in terms of hospitalization and death is important for optimizing prevention policies. Identifying risk factors for mortality allows for the design of strategies tailored to groups at the highest risk. This study aims to (a) describe the clinical characteristics of hospitalizations with a diagnosis of influenza over five flu seasons (2016–2017 to 2020–2021), (b) assess the associated morbidity (hospitalization rates and ICU admissions rate), mortality and cost of influenza hospitalizations in different age groups and (c) analyze the risk factors for mortality.MethodsThis retrospective study included all hospital admissions with a diagnosis of influenza in Spain for five influenza seasons. Data were extracted from the Spanish National Surveillance System for Hospital Data from 1 July 2016 to 30 June 2021. We identified cases coded as having influenza as a primary or secondary diagnosis (International Classification of Diseases, 10th revision, J09-J11). The hospitalization rate was calculated relative to the general population. Independent predictors of mortality were identified using multivariable logistic regression.ResultsOver the five seasons, there were 127,160 hospitalizations with a diagnosis of influenza. The mean influenza hospitalization rate varied from 5/100,000 in 2020–2021 (COVID-19 pandemic) to 92.9/100,000 in 2017–2018. The proportion of influenza hospitalizations with ICU admission was 7.4% and was highest in people aged 40–59 years (13.9%). The case fatality rate was 5.8% overall and 9.4% in those aged 80 years or older. Median length of stay was 5 days (and 6 days in the oldest age group). Abstract There are many surgical techniques (packing, Pringle maneuver, etc.) and hemostatic agents to manage hepatic bleeding in trauma surgery. This study compares the effectiveness of two different types of hemostatic agents, one is an active flowable hemostat and the other is a passive hemostat made of modified absorbable polymers [MAP]. Both surgical technique and hemostatic agents can be used together as a means of controlling bleeding. We have hypothesized that a single hemostatic agent might be as effective as a unique hemostatic surgical technique. Twenty swine were prospectively randomized to receive either active Flowable (Floseal) or passive MAP powder (PerClot) hemostatic agents. We used a novel severe liver injury model that caused exsanguinating hemorrhage. The main outcome measure was total blood loss volume. The total volume of blood loss, from hepatic injury to minute 120, was significantly lower in the Flowable group (407.5 cm3; IqR: 195.0–805.0 cm3) compared to MAP group (1107.5 cm3; IqR: 822.5 to 1544.5 cm3) (Hodges–Lehmann median difference: − 645.0 cm3; 95% CI: − 1144.0 to − 280.0 cm3; p = 0.0087). The rate of blood loss was significantly lower in the flowable group compared with the MAP group as measured from time of injury to minutes 3, 9, 12, and 120 (except for 6 min). The mean arterial pressure gradually recovered in the flowable group by 24 h, whereas in the MAP group, the mean arterial pressure was consistently stayed below baseline values. Kaplan–Meier survival analysis indicated similar rates of death between study groups (Logrank test p = 0.3395). Both the flowable and the MAP hemostatic agents were able to effectively control surgical bleeding in a novel severe liver injury model, however, the flowable gelatin–thrombin agent provided quicker and better bleed control.

En esta investigación hemos querido indagar en las posibilidades que tienen los sistemas de inteligencia artificial de ser utilizados en el ámbito judicial en España, aunque bien podríamos extrapolar nuestras conclusiones a cualquier otro Estado de Derecho europeo. Sabemos que en Estados Unidos y en el mundo anglosajón en general el uso de estos sistemas está prácticamente liberalizado, pero el proyecto de Reglamento sobre IA de la Unión Europea y el proyecto de Convenio Marco sobre IA del Consejo de Europa imponen límites a la proporcionalidad y el respeto de los derechos fundamentales que son ciertamente necesarios para no socavar las garantías procesales. Los órdenes jurisdiccionales más adecuados para el uso de la IA son el penal y el civil, ya que el contencioso-administrativo, con sus potestades discrecionales, sus conceptos jurídicos indeterminados y la existencia de intereses generales lo hacen inadecuado. Sin embargo, hemos propuesto algunos usos posibles en este proceso.

This work presents a study of a ventilated hollow core slab system (VHCS) that obviates the need to completely replace the slab of an existing residential building. It is assimilated to a heat exchanger to allow its effectiveness to be studied as a function of the area and airflow rate. The balance between the energy consumed by the fan and the heat evacuated by the system is also studied through the use of the thermo-hydraulic performance factor (THPF), for which a series of cases were simulated by CFD following a methodology in which a configuration is achieved by means of the sequential analysis of cases in which both the thermal effectiveness and the THPF are maximized. The configuration chosen in this study was found to benefit from high airflow rates since, although this implies an increase in fan energy consumption, the increase in heat removed is proportionally greater. It has also been found that the design of the airflow distribution through the slab is of high importance as it affects both the heat exchanged with the slab and the pressure losses. An applicability map has been developed as a function of the temperature of the space below and the air temperature at the inlet of the ventilated roof. The heat flux per unit area that the studied envelope is able to evacuate is about 20 W/m2 K.
