The accretion/ejection processes in T-Tauri stars are fundamental to their physical evolution, while also impacting the properties and evolution of the circumstellar material at a time when planet formation takes place. To this date, characterization of ongoing accretion processes in stellar pairs at 5-50\,au scales has been challenging, high angular resolution spectrographs are required to extract the spectral features of each component. We present the analysis of spectroscopic observations of the tight (160mas, 25au) T-Tauri system HT Lup A/B, obtained with MUSE at VLT in March and July of 2021. We focus on constraining the accretion/ejection processes and variability of the secondary component HT Lup B, by searching for accretion tracers applying High-Resolution Spectral Differential Imaging techniques. We retrieve strong (SNR $>$ 5) $H\alpha, H\beta$ and [OI]$\lambda6300$ emission in both epochs. The $H\alpha$ and $H\beta$ line fluxes showcase high variability, with variations up to 400-500\% between epochs. The fluxes are consistent with accretion rates of $8\times10^{-9} M_\odot \, yr^{-1}$ and $2\times10^{-9} M_\odot \, yr^{-1}$ for the first and second epoch, respectively. We attribute the increased accretion activity during the first night to a "burst" like event, followed by a relaxation period more representative of the common accretion activity of the system. The [OI]$\lambda6300$ line profiles remain relatively similar between epochs and suggest ejection rates on the order of $10^{-9}-10^{-10} M_\odot \, yr^{-1}$, compatible with moderate disk winds emission. We report kinematic and thermal signatures associated with the directly imaged protoplanet candidate in the Elias 2-24 disc. Using the DSHARP ALMA observations of the $^{12}$CO J=2-1 line, we show that the disc kinematics are perturbed, with a detached CO emission spot at the location of the planet candidate and traces of spiral wakes, and also that the observed CO emission intensities require local heating. While the foreground extinction hides the velocity channels associated with the planet, preventing a planet mass estimate, the level of gas heating implied by the CO emission indicates the presence of a warm, embedded giant planet. Comparison with models show this could either be a $\gtrsim 5$M$_\mathrm{Jup}$, or a lower mass ( $\gtrsim 2$M$_\mathrm{Jup}$) but accreting proto-planet., Comment: 6 pages, 3 figures, accepted for publication in MNRAS Letters

Multi-wavelengths high-resolution imaging of protoplanetary disks has revealed the presence of multiple, varied substructures in their dust and gas components which might be signposts of young, forming planetary systems. AB Aurigae bears an emblematic (pre)transitional disk showing spiral structures observed in the inner cavity of the disk in both the sub-millimeter (ALMA; 1.3mm, $^{12}$CO) and near-infrared (SPHERE; 1.5-2.5$\mu$m) wavelengths which have been claimed to arise from dynamical interactions with a massive companion. In this work, we present new deep $K_s$ (2.16$\mu$m) and L' (3.7$\mu$m) band images of AB Aurigae obtained with LMIRCam on the Large Binocular Telescope, aimed for the detection of both planetary companions and extended disk structures. No point source is recovered, in particular at the outer regions of the disk, where a putative candidate ($\rho = 0.681", PA = 7.6^{\circ}$) had been previously claimed. The nature of a second innermost planet candidate ($\rho = 0.16'', PA = 203.9^{\circ}$) can not be investigated by the new data. We are able to derive 5$\sigma$ detection limits in both magnitude and mass for the system, going from 14 \Mjup at 0.3'' (49 au) down to 3-4 \Mjup at 0.6'' (98 au) and beyond, based on the ATMO 2020 evolutionary models. We detect the inner spiral structures (< 0.5'') resolved in both CO and polarimetric H-band observations. We also recover the ring structure of the system at larger separation (0.5-0.7") showing a clear south-east/north-west asymmetry. This structure, observed for the first time at L'-band, remains interior to the dust cavity seen at ALMA, suggesting an efficient dust trapping mechanism at play in the disk., Comment: 13 pages, 5 figures, accepted on ApJ

We describe a system being developed for measuring the shapes of the mirrors of the Fred Young Submillimeter Telescope (FYST), now under construction for the CCAT Observatory. "Holographic" antenna-measuring techniques are an efficient and accurate way of measuring the surfaces of large millimeter-wave telescopes and they have the advantage of measuring the wave-front errors of the whole system under operational conditions, e.g. at night on an exposed site. Applying this to FYST, however, presents significant challenges because of the high accuracy needed, the fact that the telescope consists of two large off-axis mirrors, and a requirement that measurements can be made without personnel present. We use a high-frequency (~300GHz) source which is relatively close to the telescope aperture (<1/100th of the Fresnel distance) to minimize atmospheric effects. The main receiver is in the receiver cabin and can be moved under remote control to different positions, so that the wave-front errors in different parts of the focal plane can be measured. A second receiver placed on the yoke provides a phase reference. The signals are combined in a digital cross-correlation spectrometer. Scanning the telescope provides a map of the complex beam pattern. The surface errors are found by inference, i.e. we make models of the reflectors with errors and calculate the patterns expected, and then iterate to find the best match to the data. To do this we have developed a fast and accurate method for calculating the patterns using the Kirchhoff-Fresnel formulation. This paper presents details of the design and outlines the results from simulations of the measurement and inference process. The "Disk Substructures at High Angular Resolution Project" (DSHARP) has revealed an abundance and ubiquity of rings and gaps over a large sample of young planet-forming disks, which are hypothesised to be induced by the presence of forming planets. In this context, we present the first attempt to directly image these young companions for 10 of the DSHARP disks, by using NaCo/VLT high contrast observations in L'-band instrument and angular differential imaging techniques. We report the detection of a point-like source candidate at 1.1" (174.9 au) for RU Lup, and at 0.42" (55 AU) for Elias 24. In the case of RU Lup, the proper motion of the candidate is consistent with a stationary background contaminant, based on the astrometry derived from our observations and available archival data. For Elias 24 the point-like source candidate is located in one of the disk gaps at 55 AU. Assuming it is a planetary companion, our analysis suggest a mass ranging from $0.5 M_J$ up to $5 M_J$, depending on the presence of a circumplanetary disk and its contribution to the luminosity of the system. However, no clear confirmation is obtained at this stage, and follow-up observations are mandatory to verify if the proposed source is physical, comoving with the stellar host, and associated with a young massive planet sculpting the gap observed at 55\,AU. For all the remaining systems, the lack of detections suggests the presence of planetary companions with masses lower than $5M_J$, based on our derived mass detection limits. [abridged] The role of magnetic fields in the process of star formation is a matter of continuous debate. Clear observational proof of the general influence of magnetic fields on the early phase of cloud collapse is still pending. First results on Bok globules with simple structures indicate dominant magnetic fields across large spatial scales (Bertrang+2014). The aim of this study is to test the magnetic field influence across Bok globules with more complex density structures. We apply near-infrared polarimetry to trace the magnetic field structure on scales of 10^4-10^5au in selected Bok globules. The combination of these measurements with archival data in the optical and sub-mm wavelength range allows us to characterize the magnetic field on scales of 10^3-10^6au. We present polarimetric data in the near-infrared wavelength range for the three Bok globules CB34, CB56, and [OMK2002]18, combined with archival polarimetric data in the optical wavelength range for CB34 and CB56, and in the sub-millimeter wavelength range for CB34 and [OMK2002]18. We find a strong polarization signal (P>2%) in the near-infrared and strongly aligned polarization segments on large scales (10^4-10^6au) for all three globules. This indicates dominant magnetic fields across Bok globules with complex density structures. To reconcile our findings in globules, the lowest mass clouds known, and the results on intermediate (e.g., Taurus) and more massive (e.g., Orion) clouds, we postulate a mass dependent role of magnetic fields, whereby magnetic fields appear to be dominant on low and high mass but rather sub-dominant on intermediate mass clouds., Comment: 7 pages, 6 figures; Accepted by A&A
