James 1:27 contains the only exhortation concerning the care of fatherless children and widowed mothers ("ὀρφανοί καὶ χῆραι") in the New Testament. By intentionally reading James 1:27 against the grain , the authors anticipate resisting the dominant voices enunciated with regard to the ὀρφανοί καὶ χῆραι. Traditionally, researchers view this reference as a cliché, signifying the "poor," consequently turning real people whose distress is real, into abstract concepts. The reference to orphans and widows (ὀρφανοί καὶ χῆραι) implies fatherless households. This observation presents the impetus to further explore the role this reference plays in comprehending the Letter of James's storied world. In order to investigate the underlying values in the Letter of James's storied world, the heuristic value of the Greimassian semiotic square is assessed. Contingent on the outcome of evaluating the data of the text (the surface structure and the structure of manifestation), the fundamental values underlying James 1:27, which account for the generation of this text, are presented with the Greimassian semiotic square. The objective of this article is to analyse the different narratives implied in 2 Maccabees 6 and 7 in order to explicate the significance of both the dominant and challenging narratives (i.e. the rising hegemony of Hellenism in the Maccabean period and the subsequent Jewish counterattack involving certain altered theological viewpoints). It further investigates the social problems behind these narratives (e.g. the Jewish religion losing members and the fact that the bodies of the Jewish nation were viewed as being inferior). In addition, attention is given to the pointers in the text for managing this problem referring to successful outcomes for this new master narrative in the past. It is argued that the Jewish religion was quite inventive by borrowing (ironically) from Hellenism. To do this the narrative therapeutic approach as used by Epston and White was applied to 2 Maccabees 6 and 7 which resulted in a new and quite unique interpretation. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Twenty-four (24) Caucasian male subjects completed a single-blind, randomised, three-treatment, three-period, cross-over study. In each treatment phase, subjects received a single dose of 144 mg pipamperone dihydrochloride (CAS 2448-68-2) (equivalent to 120 mg pipamperone; CAS 1893-33-0) as either the reference product (3 x 40 mg tablets), test product A (3 x 40 mg tablets) or test product B (1 x 120 mg tablet). Each consecutive dosing was separated by a washout period of 14 days. Following each dosing, venous blood samples were collected over a period of 120 h for the determination of plasma pipamperone concentrations by high-performance liquid chromatography. The most common drug related adverse events, ranging from mild to moderate in intensity, were bloodshot eyes, nasal congestion, dry mouth, hypotension and dizziness. The geometric mean C[sub max] of pipamperone for both the reference product and test product A was 266 ng/ml and for test product B 263 ng/ ml. The geometric mean AUC[sub 0 - ∞] was 3107 ng ⋅ h/ml for the reference product, 3229 ng ⋅ h/ml for test product A and 3108 ng ⋅ h/ml for test product B.
