Recruitment means systematic process of searching for prospective employees and stimulating them to apply for job in an organisation. The study inquires the current trends of job opportunities for qualified LIS professionals in the area of library and information science by examining all job advertisement published in different online job portals. The data collected from different online job portals have been criticised to reflect the various aspects of LIS profession such as employer and designation wise distribution of jobs, essential and desirable qualifications and competencies for different type of job positions. The data collected have been explained through tables and figures. The finding show that the number of posts advertised is very less in number in comparison of number of fresh LIS graduates. Therefore the state and central government should provide more job opportunities for fresh LIS graduates, LIS professionals and for research scholars. The paper presents an empirical method to infer employers' requirements of operational research (OR) skills by analysing the text of online job ads using content analysis. The method entailed collecting more than a thousand job ads from online sources, creating a hierarchy of sets of OR-related words and phrases, and then analysing the job ads using content analysis software to count the numbers of ads using the hierarchy of words and phrases. The method is particularly well suited for the periodic analysis of job ads to understand changes and trends, and is replicable in that, when carried out using our proposed keywords, it would yield the same results for any set of OR job ads. The anomalous economic expansion in United States has failed to result in corresponding increases in jobs. Consequently, the employment rates from 2000 to 2004 have not been impressive. The reasons for this anomaly and the repercussions thereof on adolescents and teenagers are also discussed.

Employers in the UK define skills shortage as the difficulty they experience in finding manpower who have the necessary experience and expertise to handle a particular position in the company. The firms' experiences vary depending on work conditions in their particular industry. For instance, a company without union recognition would be at a disadvantage during competitive hiring. Also, the size of the establishment would influence the quantity of skilled workers to be recruited. Still, another determinant would be the growth of demand for the companies' products.

African American male youths' lack of employment opportunities is due to a mismatch between the geographic distribution of employment demand and blue collar labor supply. This hypothesis is supported by an employment-based measure of the accessibility of employment opportunities in the San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose consolidated metropolitan statistical area in 1990. Intra-metropolitan employment opportunities were examined in terms of growth and accessibility. Results indicate that there is little, if any, growth in employment opportunities in areas accessible to black male youths. This explains the employment rate differential of 30% to 50% between white and black male youths. Employment regression by race reveals a lower employment differential.

I estimate a function that matches vacant jobs and unemployed workers to produce new hires. Israeli law requiring vacancy registration yields unique data quality. The literature underestimates matching function coefficients because of a simultaneity bias, as the outflow of hires depletes stocks of unemployed and vacancies. Instruments and a new simulation method address this bias. A new test reveals strong evidence of heterogeneity in unemployed and vacancies. Estimates imply labor market dynamics that absorb shocks completely within only 2 months. Reductions in the hire rate of referrals can explain a 2.1 percentage point increase in unemployment between 1978 and 1990.

We investigate the spatial mismatch hypothesis by analyzing detailed data on the spatial distributions of jobs and populations in Boston and Houston. Job potential measures calculated using data from the Urban Transportation Planning Package indicate that, on average, blacks are physically near more jobs than whites are. This finding holds despite analysis being restricted to consider only entry-level blue-collar jobs and allowances being made for group differences in search and commuting capabilities.
