A ginástica de trampolim é uma modalidade que exige uma alta demanda da musculatura para que o atleta execute uma sequência de saltos em equilí­brio resultando em um bom desempenho durante sua série. Entretanto, uma sessão intensa de treinamento pode comprometer o equilí­brio nas execuções dos elementos exigidos em determinada série. O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar a influência da preparação inicial para o esforço sobre o equilí­brio estático de ginastas de trampolim em uma sessão completa de treino. Participaram do estudo 20 atletas de ginástica de trampolim com idade média de 18±3 anos, de ambos os sexos, que realizaram a estabilometria em uma plataforma de força, nas fases pré-aquecimento especí­fico da modalidade, pós este aquecimento e pós-treino em aparelhos da ginástica de trampolim. Observou-se diferença entre a média das variáveis amplitude ântero-posterior 2,04 ± 0,68 (AMP-AP) p=0,0034 no intervalo Pré-aquecimento/Pós-aquecimento. No intervalo Pré-aquecimento/Pós-treino identificou-se valores maiores quanto as variáveis Amplitude médio-lateral 1,1 ± 0,53 (AMP-ML) p=0,0171, Velocidade médio-lateral 0,61 ± 0,17 (VEL-ML) p

Introdução: A sarcopenia é considerada uma patologia caracterizada pela redução da massa muscular esquelética e da sua funcionalidade, sendo que vários dos parâmetros que influenciam sobre a sarcopenia sofrem interferência do treinamento de força. Objetivo: Revisar os efeitos dos diferentes protocolos de treinamento de força (frequência, duração e intensidade) sobre parâmetros influenciadores da sarcopenia. Métodos: Trata-se de uma revisão sistemática de estudos originais, quantitativos, observacionais, publicados entre 2010 a 2020, em inglês, espanhol e português, e indexados nas bases de dados SciELO, PubMed e periódico CAPES. Os descritores utilizados foram: “força muscular” (“muscle strenght”, “fuerza muscular”), “sarcopenia” (“sarcopenia”), “envelhecimento” (“aging”, “envejecimiento”), “idosos” (“olders, “ancianos”), “treinamento de força/resistência” (“strength training”, “entrenamiento de fuerza”). Foram recuperados 215 artigos, entre eles 11 atenderam aos critérios de inclusão, sendo incluídos na revisão. Resultados: Dentre os 11 estudos analisados, observa-se que o treinamento de força aplicado em diferentes protocolos foi eficiente em aperfeiçoar parâmetros como massa e força musculares, equilíbrio corporal e desempenho em testes diagnósticos de sarcopenia. Conclusão: Esta revisão evidencia os benefícios da prática de exercício de força em diferentes protocolos sobre parâmetros que influenciam na instalação do quadro de sarcopenia em idosos. O exercício de força se apresenta como meio aplicável, prático e não farmacológico da prevenção de sarcopenia.

INTRODUÇÃO: O equilíbrio postural estático é a capacidade de manter o centro de massa corporal dentro da base de sustentação. Trata-se de uma capacidade complexa, pois envolve ações coordenadas dos componentes biomecânicos, sensoriais e neuromotores. A estabilometria mensura variáveis relacionadas ao equilíbrio postural estático, por meio da quantificação de oscilações corporais nos eixos de deslocamentos anteroposteriores e laterolaterais do centro de pressão. OBJETIVO: comparar o equilíbrio postural estático de atletas de taekwondo (TKD), ginástica de trampolim (GTR) e um grupo de escolares, e investigar se o treinamento esportivo melhora o equilíbrio postural estático. MÉTODOS: Foram avaliados 34 lutadores amadores de taekwondo, 62 ginastas profissionais de trampolim e 21 alunos cursando o ensino fundamental. O teste estabilométrico foi realizado utilizando plataforma de força para coleta das seguintes variáveis: amplitude anteroposterior (AML-AP), amplitude médio-lateral (AMP-ML), área de deslocamento total (Área), velocidade anteroposterior (VEL-AP), velocidade médio lateral (VEL-ML), frequência anteroposterior (FREQ-AP), frequência médio-lateral (FREQ-ML). RESULTADOS: Os testes revelaram diferenças significativas apenas na variável de oscilação FREQ-AP (Hz) entre o grupo de atletas de TKD (0,30±0,16) e escolares (0,22±0,07), que foi desprezada. CONCLUSÃO: Assim, não foi possível afirmar que as práticas de TDK e GTR contribuem positivamente na capacidade de equilíbrio estático, pois não foram encontradas diferenças estatisticamente significativas nas variáveis de oscilações dos grupos estudados.

Resumo Objetivo: verificar o efeito do esforço físico sobre as funções cognitivas de trabalhadores eletricistas utilizando equipamento de proteção individual (EPI). Métodos: participaram 28 eletricistas que trabalhavam na construção, manutenção e operação de redes de distribuição de energia. Todos do sexo masculino, sadios e aptos para a prática de exercícios físicos. As funções cognitivas foram representadas pelo teste de reação simples (TRS) e pelo nível de vigilância mental (NVM). O TRS e o NVM foram mensurados pré e pós-teste máximo progressivo, em esteira rolante, a 27 °C de temperatura seca e umidade relativa do ar de 64%. O teste consistiu em aumentos progressivos na velocidade e na inclinação da esteira até a fadiga, com utilização de EPI. Resultados: a média (desvio padrão) do TRS não foi significativamente diferente antes, 227,8 (35,1) ms, e após o exercício, 220,6 (24,6) ms. O NVM foi significativamente maior após o exercício em todas as situações: frequência crescente - 36,5 (5,1) Hz vs 39,5 (2,7) Hz, frequência decrescente - 36,0 (5,2) vs 39,0 (3,88) Hz, e frequência geral - 36,2 (4,9) vs 39,2 (3,1) Hz. Conclusão: o exercício progressivo máximo realizado com EPI não modificou o tempo de reação simples e aumentou o nível de vigilância mental de eletricistas.

A partir da hipótese evolutiva de que a cabeça humana precisa ser resfriada de forma especial, o objetivo do presente estudo foi verificar se a sudorese seria maior na testa do que nas demais regiões do corpo durante o exercício progressivo até a fadiga (EPF). Em 17 voluntários (23 ± 2 anos, 76,93 ± 7,74 kg, 179 ± 7 cm e 1,9 ± 0,1 m²) foram medidos a taxa de sudorese local (TSlocal), o número de glândulas de suor ativas (GSA) e taxa de suor por GSA (TSlocal.GSA-1) em oito regiões do corpo (testa, costas, peito, braço, antebraço, mão, coxa e perna) durante o EPF em cicloergômetro. A TSlocal da testa foi maior que todas as outras regiões e a TSlocal do peito foi maior apenas que a da coxa. O número de GSA da testa foi maior do que em todas as outras regiões, e a GSA da mão foi maior que do peito, braço, coxa e perna. A TSlocal.GSA-1 da testa foi maior do que as do braço, antebraço, mão e coxa, e a TSlocal.GSA-1 das costas e do peito foram maiores que do antebraço e mão. A produção de suor da parte superior do corpo (testa, costas, peito, braço, antebraço, mão) foi maior que a inferior (coxa e perna). Concluiu-se que o EPF desencadeou um padrão de produção de suor maior na cabeça que pode estar relacionado à maior convecção nas regiões mais altas do corpo.Considering the hypothesis of human selective brain cooling during exercise should depend on greater sweating mechanism in the forehead. The purpose of this study was verify variations of sweat production between body regions during progressive exercise until fatigue (PEF). Seventeen subjects (23 ± 2 years old, 76.93 ± 7.74 kg, 179 ± 7 cm and 1.9 ± 0.1 m²) volunteered for this study. Local sweat rate (STlocal), number of active sweat glands (ASG) and sweat rate for ASG (STlocal.ASG-1) in eight body regions (forehead, back, chest, arm, forearm, hand, leg and calf) were measured during PEF in cyclergometer. The STlocal of the forehead was higher than in all others regions and the chest STlocal was higher only than the leg. The number of ASG in the forehead was greater than in all other regions, and the ASG of the hand was higher than those of the chest, arm, leg and calf. The STlocal.ASG-1 of the forehead was higher than the arm, forearm, hand and leg, and the STlocal. ASG-1 of the chest and back were higher than the forearm and hand. The sweat production of the upper body (forehead, back, chest, arm, forearm and hand) was bigger than the lower body (leg and calf). In conclusion, the PEF promoted a sweating pattern in body regions that can be related to the higher convection present in the upper regions of the body.

Abstract The aim of the study was to evaluate the responses of insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1), C-reactive protein (CRP), IGF-1/CRP ratio, and skin temperature (Tsk) of the lower limbs (LL) of under-20 elite soccer athletes to a non-contact team sport activity circuit throughout 48h. Thirty elite soccer athletes (19.0 ± 1.0 years, 74.3 ± 7.13 kg, 10.3 ± 2.2 %F, 178.1 ± 6.6 cm, 56.3 ± 3.1 mL.kg-1.min-1) were submitted to a team sport activity circuit with intermittent exercises, jumps, direction shifts, accelerations and decelerations. Plasma concentrations of IGF-1 and CRP were evaluated pre-training session (baseline), and immediately after, and at 3, 24 and 48h following exercise. While the Tsk of the LL was evaluated at baseline, and at 24 and 48h following exercise. Plasma IGF-1 concentrations were greater immediately after, 24 and 48h after the circuit compared to 3h (p< 0.05; ES= 0.66, 0.72 and 0.70, respectively). CRP values did not change throughout the study (p> 0.05). When verifying the IGF-1/CRP ratio, the values at 3h after the activity circuit were lower than those presented in baseline, and immediately after, 24 and 48h after the exercises (p< 0.05; ES= 0.53, 0.65, 0.56 and 0.57, respectively). The hot and neutral zones increased the number of pixels at 24 and 48h after the activity circuit, while the cold zone showed an opposite behavior (p< 0.05). Changes in the values of blood biomarkers and Tsk of the LL suggest that there is possibly an active tissue repair process throughout 48h following exercise.

Este estudo teve como objetivo comparar os tempos de rally e o padrão de complexos e de ações realizados no voleibol profissional e escolar sub-19. Foram avaliados um jogo de voleibol masculino e feminino da Superliga Brasileira (SL - voleibol profissional) e um jogo de uma equipa dos Jogos dos Institutos Federais (JIF - voleibol escolar sub-19) por meio do software Adobe®Premiere®Pro e analisou-se os tempos de rallies e seus intervalos, a percentagem (%) da densidade, os tipos e números de complexos e das ações nos rallies, além do ponto obtido no rally. Nos jogos de voleibol escolar sub-19 e feminino exibiram maiores tempo de rally e % da densidade, reduzindo o tempo de recuperação. No jogo de voleibol escolar sub-19 realizou-se um maior número de complexos no rally que o profissional. Os complexos com 3 e 1 ações foram os mais executados e exibiram maior ocorrência de pontos. O escalão dos sub-19 mostrou uma maior ocorrência de pontos por meio de erros de fundamentos (bloqueio, defesa e ataque), já nos jogos profissionais ocorreram mais pontos de ataque. Erros de serviço na superliga masculina foram mais relevantes que nas demais categorias. Conclui-se que o voleibol escolar sub-19 difere do profissional nos tempos de rallies e padrões dos complexos e ações, devido à menor experiência no desporto. O objetivo do estudo foi determinar o nível de correlação entre o desempenho nos 10m iniciais, dos 20m finais e no tempo total do teste de sprint de 30m, com o do salto vertical com contra-movimento (CMJ) entre jogadores de futebol. Participaram do estudo 167 jogadores das categorias profissional (N. 94) e júnior (N. 73). Foram determinadas as velocidades dos jogadores em 10m (V10), 20m (V20) e no total de 30m (V30). A habilidade de salto foi avaliada através do CMJ. Objective: To compare the acute effect of two training protocols until concentric failure (CF) with different intra-set interval (ISI) configurations (20 s and 40 s) on total weight, the total number of repetitions, and time under tension in trained subjects. Methods: Ten men participated in the study (age = 25.1 ± 4.4 years; body mass = 76.5 ± 10.4 kg; height = 175.8 ± 9.3 cm). Two protocols were performed with 4 sets of bench press exercises and differentiated by the ISI: i) Protocol ISI-40 (40 s) - each set consisted of 6 repetitions followed by an ISI of 40 s and completed with repetitions up to CF; ii) Protocol ISI-20 (20 s) - each set consisted of 6 repetitions with ISI of 20 s every 3 repetitions followed by repetitions to CF. The intensity was 10 repetitions maximum, and the rest interval between sets of 80 s. A minimum interval of 48 h was adopted between protocols. Results: There was no significant difference in the number of repetitions (p = 0.074), in the time under tension (p = 0.353) and in the total volume (p = 0.083) between the protocols. Conclusion: The results indicate that the different ISI configurations did not distinctly influence the number of repetitions, time under tension, and total volume.

Objective: To evaluate the effect of fruit and vegetable drink supplementation on muscle recovery after resistance exercise. Methods: 11 men performed two experimental conditions 12 days apart, in a randomized and double-blind manner: 1) Supplementation with Smoothie - drink based on pineapple, mint, sage, ginger, and pomegranate; and 2) Placebo - drink based on artificial pineapple juice. Participants ingested 400 mL of Smoothie or Placebo drinks daily for 9 days, starting one week before performing the exercise (10 sets of 10 unilateral maximum repetitions in leg press 45º). The perceived subjective recovery (PSR), thickness (MT) and soreness (MS) in the anterior thigh muscles, and maximum isometric strength (MIS) were measured before, 24, 48, 72, and 96 h after exercise. Results: There was a reduction in MIS and PSR and an increase in MS 24 h after exercise (p < 0.05). In both situations, MIS returned to baseline values at 72 h (p > 0.05), while PSR and MS returned to baseline values 96 h after exercise. There was no change in MT (p > 0.05). Conclusion: Supplementation with pineapple, mint, sage, ginger, and pomegranate drinks did not accelerate muscle recovery over 96 h after the 45º leg press exercise.

Introdução: O desempenho em provas longas é influenciado pela estratégia de corrida. Porém, não está claro se há diferença na estratégia utilizada por atletas de diferentes níveis de resultados competitivos. Objetivo: Identificar as estratégias de corrida preferenciais utilizadas por atletas de alto rendimento de corrida de longa distância segundo níveis de desempenho. Métodos: Estudo observacional, retrospectivo, com amostra por conveniência, do qual participaram 30 atletas da prova de 10.000m de dois campeonatos mundiais da Federação Internacional de Atletismo (2015 e 2017). O nível de desempenho foi determinado pela formação de três grupos de acordo com as colocações ao final da prova: os primeiros (cinco primeiros colocados) (GP), os intermediários (10º ao 14º colocados, as cinco posições centrais do conjunto de dados) (GI) e os cinco últimos (18º ao 22º colocados) (GU) de cada campeonato. A estratégia de corrida foi determinada pela variação e valor da velocidade das parciais (parciais= 1km ao 10km). ANOVA two-way e one-way foram utilizadas para comparar as parciais inter e intragrupos. Resultados: No GP, a velocidade da prova variou positivamente ao longo de todo o percurso no GP, configurando a estratégia de ritmo positivo em forma de “J”. O GI, não houve alteração estatisticamente significativa na velocidade ao longo de todo o percurso, caracterizando estratégia de ritmo constante. e os últimos apresentaram variação negativa da velocidade (ritmo negativo). Conclusão: As diferentes alterações na velocidade da corrida entre os grupos sugerem que a estratégia de ritmo de corrida utilizada é influenciada pelo nível de desempenho dos atletas.

The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effects of human head hair on performance and thermoregulatory responses during 10-km outdoor running in healthy men. Twelve healthy males (29.5 ± 3.7 years, 174.9 ± 4.3 cm, 72.7 ± 3.2 kg and VO2max 44.6 ± 3.4 ml.kg-1.min-1) participated in two self-paced outdoor 10-km running trials separated by 7 days: 1) HAIR, subjects ran with their natural head hair; 2) NOHAIR, subjects ran after their hair had been totally shaved. Average running velocity was calculated from each 2-km running time. Rectal temperature, heart rate and physiological strain index were measured before and after the 10-km runs and at the end of each 2 km. The rate of heat storage was measured every 2 km. The environmental stress (WBGT) was measured every 10 min. The running velocity (10.9 ± 1 and 10.9 ± 1.1 km.h-1), heart rate (183 ± 10 and 180 ± 12 bpm), rectal temperature (38.82 ± 0.29 and 38.81 ± 0.49oC), physiological strain index (9 ± 1 and 9 ± 1), or heat storage rate (71.9 ± 64.1 and 80.7 ± 56.7 W.m-1) did not differ between the HAIR and NOHAIR conditions, respectively (p>0.05). There was no difference in WBGT between the HAIR and NOHAIR conditions (24.0 ± 1.4 and 23.2 ± 1.5ºC, respectively; p=0.10). The results suggest that shaved head hair does not alter running velocity or thermoregulatory responses during 10-km running under the sun.

Abstract Aims: The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of bench press exercise performed as conditioning activity on the shot put performance in untrained subjects. Methods: Twelve healthy men (26 ± 6 years; 1.8 ± 0.1 m; 73.5 ± 10.4 kg; 13.2 ± 5.2% body fat), with no experience in shot put, were randomly assigned into two conditions: 1) Control: subjects performed six shot put attempts, and 2) Bench press exercise: subjects performed six shot put attempts 7 min post 2 sets of 5 repetitions maximum (RM) of bench press exercise. A metal ball of 4 kg was used for shot put attempts, and subjects were instructed to perform each shot put according to the static shot put technique. Results: Shot put performance was greater after bench press condition when compared with control condition (8.2 ± 1.2 m vs. 7.8 ± 0.8 m, respectively, p < 0.05). In addition, eight out of 12 volunteers positively responded to the conditioning activity. Conclusion: The results suggest that bench press exercise performed as a conditioning activity improves shot put performance in untrained subjects. Moreover, the conditioning activity should be individually set.

The aims of the study were: 1) to analyze the exercise intensity in several phases (six phases of 15 min) of soccer matches; 2) to compare the match time spent above anaerobic threshold (AT) between different age groups (U-17 and U-20); and 3) to compare the match time spent above AT between players’ positions (backs, midfielders, forwards and wingabcks). Forty-four male soccer players were analyzed. To express players’ effort, the heart rate (HR) was continuously monitored in 29 official matches. Further, HR corresponding to the intensity at the onset of blood lactate accumulation (OBLA) was obtained in a field test. The highest exercise intensity during match was observed in the 15-30 min period of the first half (p< 0.05). Match time spent above AT was not different between players from U-17 and U-20. In the comparison among players’ positions, wingbacks showed lower time above AT (p< 0.05) than players of other positions. The intensity of effort is higher in the 15 to 30 minutes of play (intermediate phase), probably because the players are more rested in the beginning and wearing out is progressive throughout the game. It is also noteworthy that the intensity of exercise (HR and time above AT) of wingbacks was lower, probably because they usually are required to run a larger number of sprints and need more time below the AT to recover.

Exercise intensity monitoring has been essential for the control and planning of sports training. Thus, the aim of the present study was to assess the chronic physiological demand of soccer players during an annual soccer season using blood biomarkers. Ten professional soccer players (21.2 ± 3.7 years) participated in this study. Blood samples were collected on the day before beginning of preseason (C1); at the end of preseason and beginning of competitive calendar (C2); and at the end of the competitive calendar.
