Purpose During the different phases of enterprise creation, entrepreneurial learning (EL) can be understood as an effective process. This study aims to find out the cause-and-effect relationships of the factors that are impacting EL. Design/methodology/approach This research has been conducted in two ways: first, the factors are identified through a systematic analysis of EL, and second, the cause-and-effect relationship among EL factors is analyzed using decision-making trial and evaluation laboratory, which is dependent on the opinion of experts. A network relationship matrix is also drawn from the measured factors. Findings A causal relationship has been established within the identified EL factors. Results indicate that educators and practitioners should focus and concentrate on the cause group-related factors, which are entrepreneurship education, entrepreneurial training, entrepreneurial competencies, experiences, family influence and role models. The remaining two, entrepreneurial perception and entrepreneurial willingness, are identified as being in the effect group. These two factors are affected and influenced by the cause group factors. Research limitations/implications By recognizing the multidimensionality of EL, this study gives the chance to look at what it means to be an entrepreneur from both a personal and a social point of view, including learning styles, learning from mistakes and self-regulated learning. Future research is urged to build tools that accurately capture this crucial factors of EL, thus allowing the field to gain greater integration and information accumulation. Originality/value Researchers have previously described factors that influence EL, but to the best of the authors’ knowledge, this is one of few studies that depict the cause-and-effect relationship between EL factors. These factors are critical to the growth of talented entrepreneurs in both developed and developing countries for promoting an entrepreneurial culture.

PurposeManufacturing companies are increasingly using green smart production (GSM) as a tactic to boost productivity since it has a number of advantages over conventional manufacturing methods. It costs a lot of money and takes a lot of work to create an SMS since it combines a lot of different technologies, including automation, data exchanges, cyber-physical systems (CPS), artificial intelligence, the Internet of things (IoT) and semi-autonomous industrial systems. Green smart manufacturing (GSM) activities provide the foundation for creating ecologically friendly and green products. However, there are a number of other significant barriers obstacles to GSM deployment. As a result, removing this identification of these hurdles in a systematic manner should be a top focus of this study.Design/methodology/approach This article seeks to identify and prioritize the nine barriers based on research and expert viewpoints on GSM challenges. The analytical hierarchy process (AHP) is used to prioritize the barriers.FindingsThe result depicts that, financial constraints is the most important barrier that followed by scarcity of dedicated suppliers, concern to data security lack of understanding of the surroundings, inadequate top management commitment, proper handling of data interfaces lack of support by government, employees' lack of training, concern to data security lack of environment knowledge, fear of change/resistance and constraints of technology.Research limitations/implications The current research will help the manufacturing industry in Industry 4.0 to identify potential barriers to GSM implementation.Originality/value Green manufacturing (GM) entails the implementation of renewable production methods and eco-friendly procedures in manufacturing businesses. Material supplier selection is very important and crucial in supply chain management. Material is that which is responsible for the final product quality. But selecting the right material supplier is difficult with an unclear framework and depending on the form of supplier. As in the case of “surfactants” in laundry powder used as the primary ingredients. The selection of the right material supplier for the production of “surfactants” is also an essential choice, which may impact costs, quality and efficiency. Many considerations such as material quality, expense, timely arrival, consistency, etc. should be included in the phase of making a decision about the choice of material supplier. From that point, the issue of choosing suppliers is a question of multi-criterion decision taking due to the presence of different variables. Numerous methods of Multi Criterion Decision Making (MCDM) have been developed to take care of this problem. Five suppliers were regarded as alternatives in this paper for evaluation and selection based on 14 successful parameters using Fuzzy Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (FTOPSIS).

Scholarly interest in the expression of spiritual and religious traditions at work has been on the rise in recent years. Researchers have subjected work-related aspects of many belief systems to academic inquiry. However, the Hindu treatise on work is conspicuous by its absence from the workplace spirituality discourse despite its metaphysical, demographic and economic significance. In this article, we operationalize Karma-Yoga, the core of Hindu work ethic. Followed by a conceptual and methodological critique of extant operationalizations, we develop and validate an instrument of Karma-Yoga in accordance with Rastogi and Pati's (2015) conceptualization. Three studies on distinct samples are reported for the purpose. Preliminary evidence on convergent validity, discriminant validity, nomological validity, and internal consistency is provided.

Green manufacturing activities form the basis for making green and environmentally friendly goods. In particular, industrial companies face several challenges in adopting and enforcing renewable manufacturing practices through SMEs. Green technology is the regeneration of production processes and the creation within the industrial sector of environmentally friendly operations. Environmental development includes three methods of changing manufacturing activities: utilizing green energy, producing and marketing renewable goods and, using green technologies in business operations. A series of research has been conducted in this direction of green manufacturing and several factors that affect the manufacturing process are suggested by researchers, but how and in which sequence and order these factors are required to be implemented by manufacturing organisations is missing in available studies. This research is therefore unique in this direction to identify the factors that influence green manufacturing and suggest the order of sequence to be followed by manufacturing organisation to establish themselves as green manufacturing organisation and in-return they will be capable of producing green and eco-friendly products. Using the expert opinion, eleven factors were extracted and the DEMATEL approach is used to classify and categorize eleven drivers into cause effect group.

Purpose Volatility is a permanent behavior of the stock market around the globe. The presence of the volatility in the stock price makes it possible to earn abnormal profits by risk seeking investors and creates hesitancy among risk averse investors as high volatility means high return with high risk. Investors always consider market volatility before making any investment decisions. Random fluctuations are termed as volatility of stock market. Volatility in financial markets is reflected because of uncertainty in the price and return, unexpected events and non-constant variance that can be measured through the generalized autoregressive conditional heteroscedasticity family models and that will give an insight for investment decision-making. Design/methodology/approach Daily data of the closing value of Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) (Sensex) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) (Nifty) from April 1, 2011 to March 31, 2017 is collected through the web-portal of BSE (www.bseindia.com) and NSE (www.nseindia.com) for the analysis purpose. Findings The outcome of the study suggested that P-GARCH model is most suitable to predict and forecast the stock market volatility for both the markets. Research limitations/implications Future research can be extended to other stock market segments and sectoral indices to explore and forecast the volatility to establish a trade-off between risk and return. Originality/value The results of previous studies available are not conducive to this research, and very limited scholarly work is available in the Indian context, so required to be re-explored to identify the appropriate model to predict market volatility.

Total Quality Management (TQM) is a systematic approach to the management of an organization. TQM focuses on improving the quality of the products of a company, including goods and services, by continuously improving organizational processes. The purpose of this paper is to study the 14 Deming’s quality principles and analyze the cause-effect relationship among them to improve the TQM process. No research is reported on such a relationship in TQM. To fill this gap, DEMATEL technique is used to understand the cause-effect of the 14 Deming’s principles. DEMATEL is a semi-qualitative Multi-Criteria Decision Making (MCDM) technique. By this, it can be analyzed and understand what are the principles which need more control. By controlling this cause group principle, practitioners can control effectively to the effect group principles. In the implementation of TQM, this cause-effect analysis has been recommended to the manufacturing and service industry as a new focus area.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to examine the two alternative theoretical explanations of disengagement at work. Following the job demands-resources (JD-R) perspective, the relationship between job complexity and disengagement is tested. In accordance with the process model of burnout, the association between exhaustion and disengagement is examined. The paper also examines conservation of resources (COR) as an integrative framework as far as the moderating role of resilience in both these relationships is concerned. Design/methodology/approach Survey-based quantitative methodology was followed. A total of 138 employees of an agro-processing unit in North India were surveyed, and 119 usable responses were obtained. Besides the constructs of interest, the questionnaire also sought responses on the relevant demographic variables. Findings Both job complexity and exhaustion predicted disengagement at work. However, contrary to a negatively hypothesized relationship between job complexity and disengagement, a positive association was found. Resilience was found to be negatively moderating exhaustion-disengagement relationship. No influence of resilience was found on the complexity-disengagement association. Research limitations/implications The findings could be specific to the sample and to India. Caution should be exercised while generalizing. Future researchers should validate the findings across contexts. Practical implications The results suggest that complexity may not necessarily be perceived as a resource. Hence organizations must invest in training and skill development programs for their workers. Further, managers should assess resilience as an important component while selecting workers. Originality/value Contrary findings vis-à-vis job complexity and disengagement could have implications for the JD-R perspective. Further, this research integrates alternative explanations of disengagement employing the COR framework.

The chapter focuses on learning styles and how learning styles came about in education. There are many significant things to know about why educators should understand the learning style of a student. The learning method was one of the significant elements of human existence. Student learning styles are among the variables that have been obtained. The primary aim of this research was to explore the study of teaching style among learners with academic accomplishment in engineering. The research requires a theoretical approach to reviewing appropriate literature on the subject and presents different points of perspective on matching or mismatching learning styles. The conclusion of the chapter is how to learn the styles of teaching and learning impressively and effectively, and how an individual understands new information so that they can find the most efficient technique to accumulate, interpret, and present information.

The relation between interest rate and stock market is always a matter to be explored as outcome ranges between positive and negative even few studies supported no relation. These variations in results motivate the researchers to re-investigate the relation between both the variables. For the analysis, same daily data of interest rate and stock market indices (Sensex) is converted in to weekly, monthly and quarterly from April 2011 to March 2016. Database of interest rate and stock market indices is collected from the web portal of Reserve Bank of India and Bombay Stock Exchange. This paper uses unit root test followed by ARDL bound test to characterise the dynamics of stock market indices to interest rate shocks. Results support the negative relation between both the variables for daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly data during long-run and short-run expect quarterly data where a short-run positive relation exists.

The student version of Utrecht work engagement scale (UWES-S) is increasingly being employed to assess student engagement without sufficient evidence for its validity, reliability and generalisability. This research seeks to investigate the psychometric properties of UWES-S in the Indian context. Two studies are reported. Study 1 (N = 207) investigates the 14-item UWES-S for factorial and convergent validity, and internal consistency. Study 2 (N = 279) revalidates findings from study 1 and examines relationships with burnout and life satisfaction. The three-factor morphology of UWES-S stands validated across both the studies. Evidence for convergent validity and internal consistency has been provided. The research also proposes a nine-item version of UWES-S based on psychometric properties and item analysis. Further, student engagement is found to be negatively associated with student burnout and positively related to student life satisfaction. This research has a few limitations. Data for analysis has been obtained only from management students. Further, predictive validity has been tested with burnout and life satisfaction only.
