2. The Impact of Digital Capabilities on Peasants’ Wage Growth: Evidence from Chinese Farmer Entrepreneurs

The gradual integration of digital technology into traditional Chinese villages has triggered a shift in income distribution from labor to capital, posing challenges to the wage growth of employed peasants. Based on the theory of empowerment, this paper explores the mechanisms of credit availability and talent loss in the interplay between digital capabilities and wage augmentation among employed peasants. This study empirically examines or validates the mechanism of digital capabilities on wage growth for employed peasants through the entropy weight method, the OLS linear model, the mediation effect model, and propensity score matching while using survey data from 490 farmer entrepreneurs as samples. The findings are as follows. (1) The digital capabilities of farmer entrepreneurs have a significant positive impact on the wage growth of employed peasants, and this result remains robust after a series of robustness checks. In terms of hierarchical effects, digital foundational capabilities > digital application capabilities > digital innovation capabilities. (2) Credit availability and talent loss mediate the relationship between digital capabilities and wage growth for employed peasants. (3) The digital capabilities of farmer entrepreneurs who are young, highly educated, and have a low family-dependency ratio exert a more pronounced influence on the wage growth of employed peasants. Additionally, lower policy uncertainty enhances the effect of digital capabilities on wage growth for employed peasants. The study uncovers the empowerment mechanism of digital advancements embedded during the entrepreneurial journey, enriches research on digital capabilities and common prosperity, and provides a feasible path for governments to formulate reasonable entrepreneurship and digital promotion policies.

3. Early detection of myocardial involvement by non-contrast T1ρ mapping of cardiac magnetic resonance in type 2 diabetes mellitus

ObjectiveThis study aims to determine the effectiveness of T1ρ in detecting myocardial fibrosis in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients by comparing with native T1 and extracellular volume (ECV) fraction.MethodsT2DM patients (n = 35) and healthy controls (n = 30) underwent cardiac magnetic resonance. ECV, T1ρ, native T1, and global longitudinal strain (GLS) values were assessed. Diagnostic performance was analyzed using receiver operating curves.ResultsThe global ECV and T1ρ of T2DM group (ECV = 32.1 ± 3.2%, T1ρ = 51.6 ± 3.8 msec) were significantly higher than those of controls (ECV = 26.2 ± 1.6%, T1ρ = 46.8 ± 2.0 msec) (all P < 0.001), whether there was no significant difference in native T1 between T2DM and controls (P = 0.264). The GLS decreased significantly in T2DM patients compared with controls (−16.5 ± 2.4% vs. −18.3 ± 2.6%, P = 0.015). The T1ρ and native T1 were associated with ECV (Pearson’s r = 0.50 and 0.25, respectively, both P < 0.001); the native T1, T1ρ, and ECV were associated with hemoglobin A1c (Pearson’s r = 0.41, 0.52, and 0.61, respectively, all P < 0.05); and the ECV was associated with diabetes duration (Pearson’s r = 0.41, P = 0.016). The AUC of ECV, T1ρ, GLS, and native T1 were 0.869, 0.810, 0.659, and 0.524, respectively.ConclusionIn T2DM patients, T1ρ may be a new non-contrast cardiac magnetic resonance technique for identifying myocardial diffuse fibrosis, and T1ρ may be more sensitive than native T1 in the detection of myocardial diffuse fibrosis.

Aim: To evaluate the subclinical cardiac involvement in COVID-19 patients without clinical cardiac evidence using cardiac MR imaging. Material and methods: Participants recovered from COVID-19 without cardiac symptoms and no cardiovascular medical history were enrolled in a prospective cohort study. They underwent baseline cardiac MR and follow-up cardiac MR > 300 days after discharge (n = 20). The study also included healthy controls (n = 20). Objectives: Subclinical myocardial involvement is common in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), but differences between new onset and longstanding SLE are not fully elucidated. Abstract Background Aging skin is characterized by a disturbed structure and lack of blood supply, which makes it difficult to heal once injured. ADSCs secrete large amounts of cytokines, which promote wound healing and vascular regeneration through paracrine secretion, and the number of cytokines can be elevated by hypoxic pretreating. However, the components of ADSCs are difficult to retain in wounds. Gelatin methacrylate (GelMA) is a photopolymerizable hydrogel synthesized from gelatin and has recently emerged as a potentially attractive material for tissue engineering applications. GelMA loaded with concentrated hypoxic pretreated ADSCs conditioned medium could provide a new method of treating wounds in aged skin. Methods Primary ADSCs were isolated from human adipose tissue and characterized by flow cytometry and differentiation test. ADSCs in passages 4-6 were pretreated in the hypoxic and normoxic environments to collect conditioned medium, the conditioned medium was then concentrated to prepare concentrated ADSCs conditioned medium(cADSC-CM)(the one collected from ADSCs under hypoxia was called hypo-CM ,and the one from normoxia was called nor-CM). The concentration of cytokines was detected. After treated with cADSC-CM, the abilities of proliferation, migration, and tube formation of human umbilical vascular endothelial cells (HUVECs) were assayed, and Akt/mTOR and MAPK signal pathway was detected using western blotting. GelMA+hypo-CM hydrogel was prepared, and a comprehensive evaluation of morphology, protein release efficiency, degradation rate, mechanical properties, and rheology properties were performed. Full-thickness skin wounds were created on the backs of 20-month-old mice. After surgery, GelMA, GelMA+F12, GelMA+hypo-CM, and GelMA+nor-CM were applied to the wound surface respectively. H&E, Masson, and immunohistochemistry staining were performed, and a laser Doppler perfusion imager was used to evaluate the blood perfusion. The student’s t-test was used for analysis between two groups and a one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used for analysis among multi groups. Results Our results revealed that 1) wounds in aged skin healed more slowly than that in young skin and exhibited poorer perfusion; 2) hypoxic pretreated ADSCs secreted more cytokines including VEGF by activating HIF1α; 3) hypo-CM promoted proliferation and migration of HUVECs through VEGF/Akt/mTOR and MAPK signal pathway; 4) GelMA-hypoCM accelerated wound healing and angiogenesis in aged skin in vivo. Conclusion GelMA loaded with concentrated hypoxic pretreated adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells conditioned medium could accelerate wound healing in aged skin by promoting angiogenesis.

Using the method of static game analysis, the potential risk and responsibility across the entire pork supply chain are discussed from the perspective of all stakeholders involved. Included in the analysis are pig suppliers, slaughterers, pork processors, pork sellers and consumers. The results indicate the following: firstly, the lower the probability of inspections on downstream businesses and the higher the single inspection fee, the greater the probability of harmful substances used by upstream businesses and the higher the costs. Secondly, businesses that actively manufacture and transfer harmful substances in the supply chain cannot add extra costs. Finally, the quality and risk factors in pork production may not follow a strictly linear growth. This study might explain the unique problems that occur in pork supply chain management in large developing countries such as China.

Abstract Background Cardiac hypertrophy is an initiating link to Heart failure (HF) which still seriously endangers human health. Transferrin receptor (TFRC), which promotes iron uptake through the transferrin cycle, is essential for cardiac function. However, whether TFRC is involved in the process of pathological cardiac hypertrophy is not clear. Methods Transverse aortic constriction (TAC) mouse model and mice primary cardiomyocytes treated with isoproterenol (ISO) or phenylephrine (PHE) were used to mimic cardiac hypertrophy in vivo and in vitro. Single cell RNA sequence data from heart tissues of TAC‐model mice was obtained from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database, and was analyzed with R package Seurat. TFRC expression and macrophage infiltration in the heart tissue were tested by immunofluorescent staining. Macrophage polarization was detected by Flow Cytometry. TFRC expressions were detected by qRT‐PCR, Western blot, and ELISA. Results TFRC expression is increased in the pathological cardiac hypertrophy of mice model and positively associated with macrophage infiltration. Furthermore, TFRC in cardiomyocytes recruits and activates macrophages by secreting C‐C motif ligand 2 (Ccl2) in the mice heart tissue with TAC surgery or in the primary cardiomyocytes stimulated with ISO or PHE to induce myocardial hypertrophy in vitro. Moreover, we find that TFRC promotes Ccl2 expression in cardiomyocytes via regulating signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3). In addition, we find that increased TFRC expression in the HF tissue is regulated by hypoxia‐inducible factor‐1α (HIF‐1α). Conclusion This in‐depth study shows that TFRC in cardiomyocytes promotes HF development through inducing macrophage infiltration and activation via the STAT3‐Ccl2 signaling, and TFRC expression in cardiomyocytes is regulated by HIF‐1α during HF. This study first uncovers the role of TFRC in cardiomyocytes on macrophage infiltration and activation during HF.

Abstract Background Atrial fibrillation (AF) is one of the most prevalent sustained cardiac arrhythmias. The latest studies have revealed a tight correlation between nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and AF. However, the exact molecular mechanisms underlying the association between NAFLD and AF remain unclear. The current research aimed to expound the genes and signaling pathways that are related to the mechanisms underlying the association between these two diseases. Materials and methods NAFLD- and AF- related differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified via bioinformatic analysis of the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) datasets GSE63067 and GSE79768, respectively. Further enrichment analysis of Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG), the construction of a protein–protein interaction (PPI) network, the identification of significant hub genes, and receiver operator characteristic curve analysis were conducted. The gene-disease interactions were analyzed using the Comparative Toxicogenomics Database. In addition, the hub genes were validated by quantitative Real-Time PCR (qRT-PCR) in NAFLD cell model. Results A total of 45 co-expressed differentially expressed genes (co-DEGs) were identified between the NAFLD/AF and healthy control individuals. GO and KEGG pathway analyses revealed that the co-DEGs were mostly enriched in neutrophil activation involved in the immune response and cytokine-cytokine receptor interactions. Moreover, eight hub genes were selected owing to their high degree of connectivity and upregulation in both the NAFLD and AF datasets. These genes included CCR2, PTPRC, CXCR2, MNDA, S100A9, NCF2, S100A12, and S100A8. Conclusions In summary, we conducted the gene differential expression analysis, functional enrichment analysis, and PPI analysis of DEGs in AF and NAFLD, which provides novel insights into the identification of potential biomarkers and valuable therapeutic leads for AF and NAFLD.

10. Folate in the United States Population and its Association with Congestive Heart Failure

Background: To investigate the relationship between red blood cell (RBC) folate and congestive heart failure (CHF). Methods: We extracted the concentrations of RBC folate and collated CHF information from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) survey (12820 individuals). Weighted univariate logistic regression, weighted multivariate logistic regression, and restrictive cubic spline (RCS) were used to assess the relationship between RBC folate concentrations and CHF. Results: The unadjusted model showed that the highest tertile group of RBC folate concentration was significantly associated with a higher risk of CHF compared to the lowest tertile group of RBC folate levels (odds ratio [OR] = 3.09; 95% confidence interval [CI], 2.14–4.46). Similar trends were seen in the multivariate-adjusted analysis (OR = 1.98; 95% CI: 1.27–3.09). The OR was >1.0 when the predicted RBC folate exceeded 2757 nmol/L in the RCS model, indicating that the risk of CHF was low and relatively stable up to a predicted RBC folate level of 2757 nmol/L, but began to increase rapidly thereafter (p = 0.001). Conclusions: The risk of CHF may be increased either by high RBC folate concentrations (highest tertile of RBC folate or >2637 nmol/L) or by folate deficiency. Considering the two sides of the association between RBC folate and CHF, there is a need for large-scale clinical research to better investigate if the association between RBC folate and CHF is a cause-effect relationship, what are the underlying pathophysiological basis, as well as to identify optimal dietary folate equivalent (DFE) and RBC folate concentration intervals.

11. Sequence Stratigraphy of the Jurassic Strata and Occurrences of Potential Sandstone Reservoirs in the ST Gas Field, Northern West Siberia Basin

Jurassic strata in the ST gas field of the northern West Siberia Basin have been regarded as a potential exploration target with undiscovered hydrocarbon resources. However limited research has been performed on the sequence stratigraphy of the Jurassic strata, as well as its sandstone distribution controlled by variable sea level change and sediment input. In this paper, four third-order sequences (SQ1, SQ2, SQ3, and SQ4) and nine fourth-order sequences for the Jurassic strata are interpreted based on seismic facies analysis and the lithology stacking patterns of seven wells. SQ1 is characterized by the special Bazhenov Formation which is featured by regionally distributed deep marine shales. SQ2 (J1) is composed of a coarsening upward sequence, the base of which is an unconformable surface that can be recognizable in both seismic profiles and well logging data. SQ3 (J2-J8) is composed of a complete fining-upward and coarsening-upward sequence, showing a series of transgressive and regressive successions. A complete SQ4 has not been drilled through by all the seven wells, only showing a coarsening upward succession on its top (J9) which evolves into a fining upward succession at the base of SQ3. Combined with the seismic inversion result, which predicts sandstone distribution, a sequence evolution model was built for SQ3 showing a full unit of transgressive system tract and highstand system tract (TST-HST) which often occurs in shallow marine shelves. During sequence development, most reservoir sandstones are deposited in the shelf and tidal delta environment at the bottom of the TST and the top of HST, and mudstones are deposited as shelf mudstones, especially at maximum flooding surface. That is controlled by both accommodation and sediment input. Generally, under this sequence framework, the depositional architecture can be further analyzed with implications for source rock, reservoir sandstones, and sealing rock, which may guide future gas exploration and exploitation in this area.

Based on the stress interaction theory, this research constructed a model to study the joint moderating effects of the perception reduction of employment opportunities under the COVID-19 epidemic on the employment pressure of college students. With two moderating variables introduced, employment policy support and job-searching self-efficacy, this research studied the mechanism and boundary conditions of perception reduction of employment opportunities on employment pressure of college students from both individual and environmental aspects. The study found that during the epidemic if college students perceived fewer employment opportunities, they could have greater employment pressure from themselves, schools, and families; and that under the joint moderation of employment policy support and job-searching self-efficacy, the perception reduction of employment opportunities under the COVID-19 epidemic, the employment pressure of college students, universities, and families were connected, with different adjustment mechanisms. Based on empirical data, this research can provide theoretical enlightenment and practical guidance for the government, universities, and families to alleviate the employment pressure on college students during the epidemic.

13. Obesity is associated with increased severity of disease in COVID-19 pneumonia: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Abstract Background Obesity has been widely reported to be associated with the disease progression of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19); however, some studies have reported different findings. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to investigate the association between obesity and poor outcomes in patients with COVID-19 pneumonia. Methods A systematic review and meta-analysis of studies from the PubMed, Embase, and Web of Science databases from 1 November 2019 to 24 May 2020 was performed. Study quality was assessed, and data extraction was conducted. The meta-analysis was carried out using fixed-effects and random-effects models to calculate odds ratios (ORs) of several poor outcomes in obese and non-obese COVID-19 patients. Results Twenty-two studies (n = 12,591 patients) were included. Pooled analysis demonstrated that body mass index (BMI) was higher in severe/critical COVID-19 patients than in mild COVID-19 patients (MD 2.48 kg/m2, 95% CI [2.00 to 2.96 kg/m2]). Additionally, obesity in COVID-19 patients was associated with poor outcomes (OR = 1.683, 95% CI [1.408–2.011]), which comprised severe COVID-19, ICU care, invasive mechanical ventilation use, and disease progression (OR = 4.17, 95% CI [2.32–7.48]; OR = 1.57, 95% CI [1.18–2.09]; OR = 2.13, 95% CI [1.10–4.14]; OR = 1.41, 95% CI [1.26–1.58], respectively). Obesity as a risk factor was greater in younger patients (OR 3.30 vs. 1.72). However, obesity did not increase the risk of hospital mortality (OR = 0.89, 95% CI [0.32–2.51]). Conclusions As a result of a potentially critical role of obesity in determining the severity of COVID-19, it is important to collect anthropometric information for COVID-19 patients, especially the younger group. However, obesity may not be associated with hospital mortality, and efforts to understand the impact of obesity on the mortality of COVID-19 patients should be a research priority in the future.

14. External Factors Facilitating Quality Certification of Agricultural Products in China: Insights from Cooperatives in the Sichuan Province

Promoting quality certification of agricultural products is a matter of the sustainable development of agriculture and the transformation of the global agri-food system, and cooperatives are an important carrier to achieve the above policy goals. However, few scholars have included external resources and cooperative quality certification behavior in an analytical framework from the perspective of resource embedding. This study combines resource dependence theory and embeddedness theory, based on survey data from 230 agricultural cooperatives in six counties of Sichuan Province, China. This paper constructs a theoretical analysis framework of government resources, market resources and cooperative quality certification, and uses binary Logit regression model to empirically study the correlation between external resources and cooperative quality certification. The results show that: (1) Cooperatives do not receive a high proportion of external resource support, with 30% and 47% receiving support from the government and market respectively; the proportion of cooperatives carrying out product quality certification was relatively low, about 29.57%. (2) Government resources and market resources have a significant positive effect on improving the quality certification of cooperatives, and the promotion effect of the market is greater than that of the government. (3) Mechanism analysis shows that government resources promote quality certification in cooperatives mainly through regulations on agricultural inputs, while market resources can jointly play a role on regulations on agricultural inputs and market expectations for certified agricultural products.

Prestack depth-migrated seismic data, having more accurate imaging position and amplitude fidelity than prestack time-migrated seismic data, are supposed to produce a higher quality reservoir prediction result by using depth-domain inversion. Some researchers have developed different methods of depth-domain seismic inversion. However, it has not been widely used in the industry probably because of two reasons: (1) it is a complex process to conduct depth-domain seismic inversion due to the nonstationary depth-domain seismic wavelet; and (2) time-domain seismic inversion is considered capable of solving the problem with less cost, both in regard to time and the economy. In this paper, we try to use the seismic waveform indicator inversion method in the depth domain. First, a forward model was built to demonstrate that seismic waveforms both in the time domain and the depth domain are highly correlated with lithologic associations. Second, a quantitative evaluation method of seismic data for reservoir prediction was proposed, which can help geophysicists estimate time-domain and depth-domain inversion effects before inversion. Finally, the seismic waveform indicator inversion method was implemented for presalt thin carbonate reservoir prediction in the Central Block at the eastern margin of the Pre-Caspian Basin. The depth-domain inversion result shows a relatively true structure and higher resolution validated by wells.

16. A Review of the Global Polygonal Faults: Are They Playing a Big Role in Fluid Migration?

Polygonal faults (PFs) have been widely found in over 100 sedimentary basins worldwide, mainly in marine setting on continental margins and intracratonic sedimentary basins. PFs are characterized by layer-bound minor normal faults arranged in polygonal patterns and multi-direction strikes, most of which were developed in fine-grained sediments rich in claystone. The genesis mechanisms of PFs have been recognized as non-tectonic, mainly including shear failure, syneresis, density inversion, low coefficients of friction and gravity sliding theory. Previous studies often regarded PFs as conduits playing a role in favouring fluid migration, which were also regarded as fluid source expelled during PF generation. However, some researchers proposed that the PF-bearing layer is generally impermeable and may act as a seal. To better understand the role of PFs in fluid migration and their contrition to the shallower hydrocarbon accumulation, a geophysical review of global PFs case studies is conducted in this paper. A comprehensive analysis is carried out based on abundant case studies, with key parameters analyzed including the PFs characteristics (e.g., buried depth, lithology, size, etc.), formation mechanisms of PFs, tectonic-sedimentary setting, and the spatial relationship of PFs, nearby major fluid migration pathways and high amplitude anomalies. The compilation of global PF case studies of shows that hydrocarbon fluids from the deep is more likely to migrate upward through normal big faults, gas chimneys or unconformities surface around PFs. In most cases, PFs play limited roles in fluid migration, such as in South China Sea where hydrocarbon accumulations have been observed under the PFs and the PF-bearing layer may act as a seal trapping the free gas underneath. Generally, the role of PFs in fluid migration should be determined through a comprehensive analysis of the characteristics of PFs, surrounding amplitude anomalies, hydrocarbon distribution, and even the sealing ability of PFs which needs further study. It is more likely that the PFs play a limited role in vertical fluid migration and related shallower hydrocarbon accumulation and distribution.

17. Adipose-Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cells Alleviate Hypertrophic Scar by Inhibiting Bioactivity and Inducing Apoptosis in Hypertrophic Scar Fibroblasts

Background: As a fibrotic disease with a high incidence, the pathogenesis of hypertrophic scarring is still not fully understood, and the treatment of this disease is also challenging. In recent years, human adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (AD-MSCs) have been considered an effective treatment for hypertrophic scars. This study mainly explored whether the therapeutic effect of AD-MSCs on hypertrophic scars is associated with oxidative-stress-related proteins. Methods: AD-MSCs were isolated from adipose tissues and characterized through flow cytometry and a differentiation test. Afterwards, coculture, cell proliferation, apoptosis, and migration were detected. Western blotting and a quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT–PCR) were used to detect oxidative stress-related genes and protein expression in hypertrophic scar fibroblasts (HSFs). Flow cytometry was used to detect reactive oxygen species (ROS). A nude mouse animal model was established; the effect of AD-MSCs on hypertrophic scars was observed; and hematoxylin and eosin staining, Masson’s staining, and immunofluorescence staining were performed. Furthermore, the content of oxidative-stress-related proteins, including nuclear factor erythroid-2-related factor 2 (Nrf2), heme oxygenase 1 (HO-1), B-cell lymphoma 2(Bcl2), Bcl2-associated X(BAX) and caspase 3, was detected. Results: Our results showed that AD-MSCs inhibited HSFs’ proliferation and migration and promoted apoptosis. Moreover, after coculture, the expression of antioxidant enzymes, including HO-1, in HSFs decreased; the content of reactive oxygen species increased; and the expression of Nrf2 decreased significantly. In animal experiments, we found that, at 14 days after injection of AD-MSCs into human hypertrophic scar tissue blocks that were transplanted onto the dorsum of nude mice, the weight of the tissue blocks decreased significantly. Hematoxylin and eosin staining and Masson’s staining demonstrated a rearrangement of collagen fibers. We also found that Nrf2 and antioxidant enzymes decreased significantly, while apoptotic cells increased after AD-MSC treatment. Conclusions: Our results demonstrated that AD-MSCs efficiently cured hypertrophic scars by promoting the apoptosis of HSFs and by inhibiting their proliferation and migration, which may be related to the inhibition of Nrf2 expression in HSFs, suggesting that AD-MSCs may provide an alternative therapeutic approach for the treatment of hypertrophic scars.

18. A Geophysical Review of the Seabed Methane Seepage Features and Their Relationship with Gas Hydrate Systems

Seabed methane seepage has gained attention from all over the world in recent years as an important source of greenhouse gas emission, and gas hydrates are also regarded as a key factor affecting climate change or even global warming due to their shallow burial and poor stability. However, the relationship between seabed methane seepage and gas hydrate systems is not clear although they often coexist in continental margins. It is of significance to clarify their relationship and better understand the contribution of gas hydrate systems or the deeper hydrocarbon reservoirs for methane flux leaking to the seawater or even the atmosphere by natural seepages at the seabed. In this paper, a geophysical examination of the global seabed methane seepage events has been conducted, and nearby gas hydrate stability zone and relevant fluid migration pathways have been interpreted or modelled using seismic data, multibeam data, or underwater photos. Results show that seabed methane seepage sites are often manifested as methane flares, pockmarks, deep-water corals, authigenic carbonates, and gas hydrate pingoes at the seabed, most of which are closely related to vertical fluid migration structures like faults, gas chimneys, mud volcanoes, and unconformity surfaces or are located in the landward limit of gas hydrate stability zone (LLGHSZ) where hydrate dissociation may have released a great volume of methane. Based on a comprehensive analysis of these features, three major types of seabed methane seepage are classified according to their spatial relationship with the location of LLGHSZ, deeper than the LLGHSZ (A), around the LLGHSZ (B), and shallower than LLGHSZ (C). These three seabed methane seepage types can be further divided into five subtypes considering whether the gas source of seabed methane seepage is from the gas hydrate systems or not. We propose subtype B2 represents the most important seabed methane seepage type due to the high density of seepage sites and large volume of released methane from massive focused vigorous methane seepage sites around the LLGHSZ. Based on the classification result of this research, more measures should be taken for subtype B2 seabed methane seepage to predict or even prevent ocean warming or climate change.

19. Anomalous origin of the left coronary artery from the pulmonary artery in a patient of advanced age: a case report and analysis

A 61-year-old Chinese man presented with a nearly 30-year history of an anomalous origin of the left coronary artery. He had been diagnosed with an anomalous origin of the left coronary artery in 1989. He then underwent regular echocardiographic examinations and it was found that his heart was gradually enlarging. After a >20-year asymptomatic period, he developed recurrent chest discomfort and palpitation. Coronary computed tomography angiography suggested that the left coronary artery anomaly originated from the pulmonary artery; additionally, the right coronary artery was tortuous and thickened. Coronary angiography showed that the right coronary artery was huge and buckling. The patient underwent corrective surgery of the anomalous origin of the left coronary artery from the pulmonary artery, aortic valve mechanical valve replacement, mitral valve plasty, and tricuspid valve plasty in Fuwai Hospital (National Center of Cardiovascular Disease of China), and the anatomic results of the surgery were good.

20. Endovascular coil embolization and stenting for the treatment of iatrogenic right internal mammary artery injury: A case report

A 54-year-old Chinese woman presented with a 10-year history of repeated paroxysmal palpitations. She was diagnosed with paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia by 12-lead electrocardiogram and was advised to undergo catheter-based radiofrequency ablation. During the procedure, a rare complication occurred that was diagnosed as a right internal mammary artery penetrating injury. After appropriate emergency treatment with arterial embolization and membrane-covered stent implantation, the patient was out of immediate danger of haemorrhaging. Follow-up computed tomography angiography of the subclavian artery at 3 months after she was discharged from hospital revealed stent-graft patency with no evidence of in-stent thrombosis or stent stenosis. No problems were observed at the 6-month follow-up visit.

21. Interruption of CD40 Pathway Improves Efficacy of Transplanted Endothelial Progenitor Cells in Monocrotaline Induced Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension

Background/Aims: Transplantation of endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) plays a therapeutic role in pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Meanwhile, recruitment of progenitors has potential inflammatory effects and exaggerates vascular injury. CD40 pathway is identified as a major player in vascular inflammatory events. In this study, we investigated the role of CD40 pathway in regulating early outgrowth EPC functions, and searched for improvements in PAH cell therapy. Methods: EPCs were isolated from rat bone marrow and cultured for 7 days. After treatment with soluble CD40 ligand (sCD40L) for 24 hours, EPC migration, adhesion, proliferation, paracrine and vasculogenesis functions were tested. Rat PAH model was founded by subcutaneous injection of monocrotaline (MCT). Control EPCs or lentivirus vectors (Lv)-shRNA-CD40 EPCs were infused via tail vein at day 7, 14, and 21 after MCT injection. Therapeutic effects were evaluated at day 28. Results: sCD40L dose-dependently impaired EPC migration, adhesion, proliferation, and vasculogenesis functions. However, paracrine effects of soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1, vascular endothelial growth factor and interleukin-6 were dose-dependently improved by sCD40L. Control EPC-derived conditioned medium protected endothelial cell in vitro vasculogenesis, while sCD40L-pretreated ones showed detrimental effects. After MCT injection, sCD40L levels in rat serum increased gradually. Other than in vitro results, benefits of both two EPC treatments were obvious, even taken at day 21. Benefits of control EPCs wore off over time, but those of Lv-shRNA-CD40 EPCs were more effective and enduring, as characterized by both ameliorated rat hemodynamic and reversed vascular remodeling. Furthermore, Lv-shRNA-CD40 EPCs integrated into endothelium better, rather than into adventitia and media. Conclusion: sCD40L impaired protective effects of EPCs. Traditional EPC treatments were limited in PAH, while interruption of CD40 pathway of transplanted cells could apparently improve the therapeutic efficacy.

22. Nanometer-Scale Pore Characteristics of Lacustrine Shale, Songliao Basin, NE China.

In shale, liquid hydrocarbons are accumulated mainly in nanometer-scale pores or fractures, so the pore types and PSDs (pore size distributions) play a major role in the shale oil occurrence (free or absorbed state), amount of oil, and flow features. The pore types and PSDs of marine shale have been well studied; however, research on lacustrine shale is rare, especially for shale in the oil generation window, although lacustrine shale is deposited widely around the world. To investigate the relationship between nanometer-scale pores and oil occurrence in the lacustrine shale, 10 lacustrine shale core samples from Songliao Basin, NE China were analyzed. Analyses of these samples included geochemical measurements, SEM (scanning electron microscope) observations, low pressure CO2 and N2 adsorption, and high-pressure mercury injection experiments. Analysis results indicate that: (1) Pore types in the lacustrine shale include inter-matrix pores, intergranular pores, organic matter pores, and dissolution pores, and these pores are dominated by mesopores and micropores; (2) There is no apparent correlation between pore volumes and clay content, however, a weak negative correlation is present between total pore volume and carbonate content; (3) Pores in lacustrine shale are well developed when the organic matter maturity (Ro) is >1.0% and the pore volume is positively correlated with the TOC (total organic carbon) content. The statistical results suggest that oil in lacustrine shale mainly occurs in pores with diameters larger than 40 nm. However, more research is needed to determine whether this minimum pore diameter for oil occurrence in lacustrine shale is widely applicable.

Reports show that the left ventricular myocardial work index (LVMWI) is a novel parameter for evaluating cardiac function. Decompensated heart failure leads to a high rate of early mortality in advanced patients with light-chain cardiac amyloidosis (AL-CA) and prevents them from a relatively delayed response to chemotherapy. This study aimed to assess the association of the LVMWI with short-term outcomes and to construct a simple model for risk stratification.A total of 79 patients with an initial diagnosis of AL-CA were included in this retrospective cohort study. LVMWI was calculated by integrating brachial artery cuff blood pressure and left ventricular longitudinal strain (LVLS). The short-term outcome was defined as 6-month all-cause mortality. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC), logistic regression, and Kaplan-Meier analysis were used in this study.The median follow-up time was 21 months (3-36 months), and 23 (29%) patients died in the first 6 months. The time-dependent ROC and the area under the curve (AUC) showed that the LVMWI had the best predictive potential at the 6-month time point [AUC =0.805; 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.690-0.920]. A bivariate prognostic model based on the LVMWI was constructed, and D-dimer showed a synergistic effect with optimum predicted potential (AUC =0.877; 95% CI: 0.791-0.964). Kaplan-Meier analysis demonstrated that patients with two, one, and none of the variates beyond the cut-off value bore a different risk of 6-month all-cause mortality (accumulated mortality was 86%, 30%, 3%, respectively; log-rank, P0.001). Multivariate nested logistic regression showed that the level of D-dimer provided an incremental prognostic value (ΔχThe LVMWI is associated with the short-term outcome of patients with AL-CA. The D-dimer test provides additional prognostic information for the LVMWI.

30. An adaptive matrix material extrusion optimization model for in situ impregnated continuous fiber reinforced 3D printing

In order to improve the strength and surface quality of fiber-reinforced composite 3D printed parts and reduce the overfilling and underfilling caused by the manufacturing process of molten filaments under continuous paths, a co-extrusion control and optimization method based on matrix adaptive feeding with printing speed and deposition spacing is proposed in this paper. The method not only achieves surface void filling under different paths, but also reduces the porosity of the printed parts and improves the strength of the printed parts by adjusting the matrix extrusion under different deposition spacings. Compared with the common co-extruded model, the tensile strength is increased by 18% , the bending strength is increased by 23.4% and the porosity decreased by 54.4%. The proposed method is applicable to models with arbitrary continuous infill patterns and improves the quality of fiber-reinforced printed parts, especially to avoid structural failure due to uneven filling.

31. To Explore Ideas From the Altered Metabolites: The Metabolomics of Pathological Scar

Pathological scars are dermal fibroproliferative disorders due to rapid inflammatory response after dermal injury. The altered metabolites could reflect pathophysiological changes directly. However, it has not cleared how the metabolites change scars.To explore new ideas of pathological scars from the altered metabolites by using ultra-performance liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry and identifying the key genes.Keloid (KS, n = 10), hypertrophic scar (HS, n = 10), and normal skin (NS, n = 10) were collected. Ultra-performance liquid chromatography coupled to tandem mass spectrometry was used to identify and characterize metabolites. Differential metabolites were analyzed by orthogonal partial least square discriminant analysis and Student t test. The key pathways were analyzed via Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes, and the related enzymes were verified by real-time Polymerase Chain Reaction, both in tissues and their dermal fibroblasts.Two hundred fourteen metabolites were detected in total, mostly were fatty acids and amino acids. In the KS and NS groups, 65 different metabolites were screened ( P0.05), and the polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) metabolism and butyric acid in keloid should be concerned. The messenger Ribonucleic Acid expression of fatty acid desaturase 1 and fatty acid desaturase 2, which are the key enzyme of PUFA metabolism, were lower in KS and keloid-derived fibroblasts, P0.05. In HS group, 17 metabolites were significantly different and branched chain amino acids degradation was the key pathway. Moreover, branched chain keto acid dehydrogenase E1 subunit alpha was lower expressed in HS and their fibroblasts compared with NS, P0.05.Polyunsaturated fatty acids and butyric acid may be associated with the generation of keloids. The pathogenesis of hypertrophic scars may be involved in branched chain amino acids degradation, which is worth paying attention to.

Impaired wound healing is responsible for significant morbidity and mortality worldwide. It is necessary to find a stable, efficient, and safe method to promote soft tissue wound healing. Fat grafting has become increasingly popular in contouring procedures. However, more recently, there has been an emphasis on its regenerative potential. In this study, we established the wound healing model using nude mice. Hematoxylin and eosin and Masson stainings were performed to assess the effect of chyloid fat on the histology of wound healing. A laser Doppler perfusion imager was used to evaluate the blood perfusion of wounds. Immunohistochemistry was carried out to detect the expression of CD31 in wound tissues. The results suggested that after treatment with granule fat or chyloid fat, wound healing was accelerated and blood perfusion was promoted. In addition, granule fat or chyloid fat treatment promoted the angiogenesis of the wound. In addition, we evaluated the amount of adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells in chyloid fat and granule fat. It was found that chyloid fat contained more adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells than granule fat did. In conclusion, we proved that chyloid fat could significantly accelerate the wound healing process via promoting angiogenesis. The adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cell plays a critical role in this effect of chyloid fat.

Background: Light-chain (AL) cardiorenal amyloidosis has been characterized as type 5 cardiorenal syndrome with fluid overload and poor prognosis. Cancer antigen 125 (CA125) has the potential for use in evaluating fluid load and prognosis for heart failure. However, less details for CA125 in AL cardiorenal amyloidosis have been reported. Methods: Sixty patients diagnosed with AL cardiorenal amyloidosis were enrolled in this retrospective study. Patients were divided into two groups according to the cutoff point of CA125 level (35 U/mL). Logistic regression was used to screen variables associated with CA125. Cox regression analyses was utilized to verify the prognostic potential of CA125. Results: The mean age was 61±8 years, and 68% of the participants were male. Compared to patients with normal CA125 levels (≤35 U/mL), patients with high levels of CA125 (>35 U/mL) had a higher proportion of New York Heart Association class >II, pericardial effusion, and edema, as well as a lower level of albumin and left ventricular longitudinal strain (LVLS). Logistic regression showed age, albumin, and LVLS to be independently associated with CA125. Seventeen (28%) patients died during the follow-up. Multivariate model including CA125, estimated glomerular filtration rate, E/e’ and left ventricular ejection fraction showed acceptable prognostic potential (C-index= 0.829, 95%CI 0.749 to 0.909). CA125 remained an independent prognostic factor (HR=1.018, 95%CI 1.005 to 1.031, P=0.008) after adjusting for the remaining three variates and provided a significant incremental effect to the risk determined from them (C-index 0.829 vs 0.784, P=0.037). Conclusions: Serum CA125 level was associated with long-term prognosis of AL cardiorenal amyloidosis.

(1) Background: The neighborhood environment has been shown to be an essential factor affecting residents’ quality of life and health, but the relationship between the characteristics of health service facilities and health levels is rarely known. (2) Methods: This study used a representative sample (n = 591, 303 women; 288 men, age 18–85 years, lived in Chengdu for an extensive time) of residents living in Chengdu City, China, and took spatial point data and empirical research data to construct an ordered logistic regression model. We contrastively analyzed the influence of different variables in the neighborhood environment and health service facilities on self-rated physical health (SRPH) and self-rated mental health (SRMH). (3) Results: The frequency of use and accessibility of multiple facilities in the health service facilities were significantly associated with self-rated health (SRH). Significant differences occurred between residents’ perceived accessibility and actual accessibility of facilities in SRH. Comparing the results of SRPH and SRMH revealed that the influencing factors that affect the two vary. The factors that significantly affect SRMH include neighborhood physical environment evaluation; social environmental evaluation; the frequency of use of the parks and squares, and sports zones; and the accessibility of parks and squares, specialized hospitals, community hospitals, and pharmacies. However, the factors that significantly affect SRPH include the frequency of use of sports venues, general hospitals, and pharmacies and the accessibility of general hospitals. The social environment of the neighborhood is also a non-negligible part, and its interaction with the physical environment of the neighborhood affects the outcome of SRH. (4) Conclusions: Neighborhood environmental characteristics and the layout of health service facilities have significant differential effects on people’s physical and psychological health, and this information is of great value in promoting healthy city development and improving the quality of life of urban populations around the world.

The gas hydrate system off Mauritania is characterized by the undulating landward termination of a gas hydrate-related bottom simulating reflector (BSR). Some of the most landward sections of this BSR reach up to within 6 m of the seafloor. This suggests a shallow sulphate-methane-interface over an unusually large area. We attribute this to the presence of large amounts of methane due to the efficient burial of organic matter in a high-productivity oceanographic region, and the efficient channelling of methane along permeable turbidite beds towards the feather edge of the gas hydrate stability zone. This is consistent with the observation of steps in the BSR, where it cross-cuts other inferred permeable horizons. The high thermal conductivity of a salt dome in the southern part of the study area distorts the subsurface temperature field, giving the base of the hydrate stability zone a concave-down shape. Within this anticline of the BSR, high amplitudes and a horizontal reflection that crosses the sedimentary strata indicate the entrapment of free gas. We interpret this as a direct indication of a reduced hydraulic permeability of the hydrate-bearing sediment.

Background Atrial fibrillation (AF) is one of the most prevalent sustained cardiac arrhythmias. The latest studies have revealed a tight correlation between nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and AF. However, the exact molecular mechanisms underlying the association between NAFLD and AF remain unclear. The current research aimed to expound the genes and signaling pathways that are related to the mechanisms underlying the association between these two diseases. Materials and methods NAFLD- and AF- related differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were identified via bioinformatic analysis of the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) datasets GSE63067 and GSE79768, respectively. Further enrichment analysis of Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG), the construction of a protein–protein interaction (PPI) network, the identification of significant hub genes, and receiver operator characteristic curve analysis were conducted. The gene-disease interactions were analyzed using the Comparative Toxicogenomics Database. In addition, the hub genes were validated by quantitative Real-Time PCR (qRT-PCR) in NAFLD cell model. Results A total of 45 co-expressed differentially expressed genes (co-DEGs) were identified between the NAFLD/AF and healthy control individuals. GO and KEGG pathway analyses revealed that the co-DEGs were mostly enriched in neutrophil activation involved in the immune response and cytokine-cytokine receptor interactions. Moreover, eight hub genes were selected owing to their high degree of connectivity and upregulation in both the NAFLD and AF datasets. These genes included CCR2, PTPRC, CXCR2, MNDA, S100A9, NCF2, S100A12, and S100A8. Conclusions In summary, we conducted the gene differential expression analysis, functional enrichment analysis, and PPI analysis of DEGs in AF and NAFLD, which provides novel insights into the identification of potential biomarkers and valuable therapeutic leads for AF and NAFLD.

With rapid urbanization and industrialization, ecological disorders and environmental degradation have become serious, and the promotion of the coordinated development of the social economy and ecological environment is not only a pressing problem to be solved, but also an important step towards sustainable development. The coordinated development of the social economy and eco-environment is conducive to sustainable development. Considering the Chengdu–Chongqing urban agglomeration as a case study, this paper adopts panel data and establishes an index system to evaluate the coupling coordination degree (CCD) between the social economy and ecological environment based on the concept of high-quality development. From the perspective of time and space, the changing laws and characteristics of the CCD are analyzed, and the key factors affecting it are determined using regression analysis. The results show the following: (1) the CCD between the social economy and ecological environment of the Chengdu–Chongqing urban agglomeration presents a low level overall, (2) the CCD in more developed regions is significantly higher than that in less developed regions, thus, the characteristics of spatial differences are obvious, (3) the urbanization rate, ratio of actual use of foreign capital and GDP, ratio of total export-import volume and GDP, proportion of days with good air quality, and per capita public green space area are the main factors affecting the coordinated development of the social economy and ecological environment in the Chengdu–Chongqing urban agglomeration, and (4) Chongqing has obvious endogeneity. Finally, corresponding policy recommendations are provided aimed at promoting rapid economic development in the Chengdu–Chongqing urban agglomeration while focusing on environmental protection and promoting high-quality economic development with ecological environmental protection, while putting forward decision-making suggestions for high-quality development of urban agglomerations.

Pre-stack simultaneous inversion is a seismic exploration technology which is widely applied to recognize lithology and detect oil and gas by analyzing the feature of amplitude variation versus offset (AVO). A gas-bearing reservoir can cause an obvious change in P-impedance and density. To effectively discriminate gas-bearing dolomite within Longwangmiao Fm. in Sichuan Basin of China, the pre-stack inversion method is employed by strict quality procedures. These procedures mainly include rock physics analysis, AVO modeling and pre-stack simultaneous inversion. Using the technology, P-impedance, S-impedance and density are obtained simultaneously. The distribution of gas-bearing dolomite is identified by P-impedance versus density cross-plotting from well data. The final prediction result indicates the existence of gas-bearing dolomite in the upper part of Longwangmiao Fm. in the study area, which is consistent with well data. Generally, pre-stack simultaneous inversion represents an effective method to predict gas-bearing dolomite reservoir and should be applicable in other study areas.

Background As a fibrotic disease with a high incidence, the pathogenesis of hypertrophic scarring is still not fully understood, and its treatment is also very difficult. In recent years, human adipose-derived mesenchymal stem cells (ADSCs) have been considered an effective treatment for fibrotic diseases, such as keloids. This study mainly explores the therapeutic effect and possible mechanism of ADSCs on hypertrophic scars.Methods After coculture, western blotting and quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT–PCR) were used to detect gene and protein expression in hypertrophic scar fibroblasts (HSFs). Flow cytometry was used to detect reactive oxygen species (ROS), and apoptosis, cell proliferation and migration were also detected. A nude mouse animal model was established, the effects of ADSCs on hypertrophic scars were observed, and H&E staining, Masson staining and nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) protein content detection were performed.Results Our experimental results show that ADSCs can inhibit HSF proliferation and migration and promote apoptosis. Our experimental results show that ADSCs can inhibit the proliferation and migration of HSFs and promote apoptosis. ADSCs also increase the ROS of HSFs, reduce superoxide dismutase (SOD), NAD(P)H:quinone oxidoreductase 1 (NQO1), and heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1), and reduce the expression of Nrf2 and BCL2. In in vivo experiments, we found that ADSCs can reduce the weight of hypertrophic scars, rearrange collagen fibres, and significantly reduce the Nrf2 content in tissues.Conclusion ADSCs can alleviate hypertrophic scars, promote the rearrangement of collagen fibres, and affect the biological activity of hypertrophic scar fibroblasts and oxidative stress-related factors.
